Despite over 60 years of clinical use, the effectiveness of ultrasound for treating people with pain, musculoskeletal injuries, and soft tissue lesions remains questionable. This article presents a systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which ultrasound was used to treat people with those conditions. Each trial was designed to investigate the contributions of active and placebo ultrasound to the patient outcomes measured. Depending on the condition,

Resumen
The rationale of the article is to describe the use of the Internet for psychological treatment in a clinical setting. Internet-based psychotherapy as a therapeutic tool, that offers an anonymous way for people to search for information and participate in treatment. Research studies on web-based psychotherapy for the major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders and other psychological conditions has grown swiftly in the last decades. Findings revealed that some forms of Internet-based treatments often lead to results similar to those of traditional face to face psychotherapy. The advantages of Internet-based interventions are high-cost effectiveness, greater access to evidence-based treatment, and greater access to patients in remote locations. The deterioration of symptoms, the emergence of new psychological symptoms, a high rate of abandonment and the frustration caused by technical problems are some of the negative effects of Internet interventions. In conclusion, there is now ample evidence that Internet based-interventions work for common mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorder, alcohol consumption, smoking cessation, eating disorders, headaches and insomnia. Research on interventions on the Internet is advancing at high speed, while the proliferation and prolonged implementation of interventions on the Internet in regular assistance is still in its infancy.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a stimulation technique introduced to clinical practise by Anthony Baker in 1985. TMS has become very valuable either for neurophysiological examination as for research. When use in a repetitive way it has shown to have a therapeutic role for treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders. This chapter summarizes the basic principles of the technique focusing on its interaction with the neural tissue along with the analysis of different stimulation protocols, potential risks, and its effectiveness on Parkinson’s disease.

Resumen
This chapter introduces the basic principles of Clinical Decision Support (CDS) systems. CDS systems aim to codify and strategically manage biomedical knowledge to handle challenges in clinical practice using mathematical modelling tools, medical data processing techniques and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. CDS systems cover a wide range of applications, from diagnosis support to modelling the possibility of occurrence of various diseases or the efficiency of alternative therapeutic schemes, using not only individual patient data but also data on risk factors and efficiency of available therapeutic schemes stored in databases. Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems can enhance the diagnostic capabilities of physicians and reduce the time required for accurate diagnosis. Modern Therapeutic Decision Support (TDS) systemsmake use of advanced modelling techniques and available patient data to optimise and individualise patient treatment. CDS systems aim to improve the overall health of the population by improving the quality of healthcare services, as well as by controlling the cost-effectiveness of medical examinations and treatment.

Resumen
Positive psychotherapy (PPT) is an emerging therapeutic approach that is broadly based on the principles of positive psychology (PP). PP studies the conditions and processes that enable individuals, communities, and institutions to flourish. PPT is the clinical or therapeutic arm of PP. PPT integrates symptoms with strengths, risks with resources and deficits with assets. Without dismissing the severity psychiatric distress, or naively minimizing clients’ genuine concerns, PPT identifies and teaches clients evidence-based skills which use their best resources to meet their toughest challenges. Specifically, PPT helps clients to translate their cognitive, emotional, social and cultural strengths into goal-oriented, purposeful and pragmatic actions and habits, which aim to reduce their psychiatric distress as well as enhance their well-being. A strengths-based approach such as PPT can improve the effectiveness of psychotherapy by expanding the scope of psychotherapy, broadening beyond the medical model, expanding the outcome of psychotherapy, and attenuating the impact on the clinician.

Resumen
Nowadays, information and communication technologies (ICT) are being used in the mental health field to improve the quality of the services provided. Several studies refer both advantages and disadvantages for these practices. E-therapy appears as a new way to help people in their life and existing relationships, and there is proven evidence that online therapy helps, for instance, to reduce depression symptoms. It is also seen as a complement of the technological and traditional techniques, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the therapeutic process. As a matter of fact, some people tend to be more comfortable with the computer than in face-to-face therapy. Besides patients and physicians, other direct players could be found in this domain, namely, families and caregivers. All players will be directly affected by the use of existing services and thus, a correct assessment of the effectiveness of e-therapy solutions and studies is required. eSchi is a multimedia portal that enables an e-therapy setting for schizophrenia patients. Currently under development, the system is described and future trends in the area are depicted.

Resumen
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) as an imaging technique in cardiology is fairly recent, compared to echocardiography and nuclear imaging, but has evolved enormously over the last 20 years, with respect to technical improvements, and achieved much in terms of indications, validation, and prognostic implications. Due to several factors, including cost, expertise, availability to cardiac indications, and installed base, CMR remains underused, but things are improving, as witnessed by the growing use and increased presence of CMR in multi-modality guidelines. This can be further advanced by using the strengths of CMR and the expertise of the CMR community in the development of diagnostic pathways where CMR can find its legitimate place among the different imaging modalities. To convince the payers of this position, cost-effectiveness studies showing the efficiency and efficacy of CMR in specific indications are clearly needed. And in a world where patients themselves appropriately participate in their own diagnostic and therapeutic paths, involving patients more directly in setting up research and writing guidelines might be a key factor to the appropriate use of CMR.

Resumen
Over the past decades, health-related quality of life (HRQL) has become a major topic of research in the context of chronic conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). HRQL assessment became a part of the mandatory criteria for judging the effectiveness of a therapeutic care plan. COPD still imposes an enormous burden on patients and health care systems. Daily symptoms, poor pulmonary function, and medication use can affect the social and physical life components of patients. Indeed, HRQL predictors in COPD patients were controversial in the literature. To this end, we conducted a review of the literature to describe COPD-related factors that influence the HRQL of patients. This study included research articles published in English from 2010 to 2020. This review of sparse and well-designed literature gave a current state-of-the-art that could be useful for clinicians, and in establishing advanced COPD management plans.

Resumen
Hyperthermia (HT) is a cancer treatment that utilizes a variety of heating methods to destroy cancerous tumors. A diversity of technical problems still exists regarding HT's different approaches, therapeutic potential, and evidence of effectiveness. The foremost problem is in generating and controlling heat in tumors to target cancer sites. The window of temperature for HT is between 42°C and 45°C, with the literature suggesting 43°C to be the ideal temperature for inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death). Normal cells undergo necrosis at higher temperatures than that of the specified range.
