Resumen

This dissertation is mainly concerned with the photography of Christer Strömholm. In studying his work semiotics is used as a method in analysing the rhetoric of his photographs and their relations to the photographic world, the artworld and the lifeworld. Especially the phenomenologically based visual and cultural semiotics of Göran Sonesson is adopted. The work of Strömholm is first understood in the context of surrealism; especially in the ”dark” surrealism of Georges Bataille´s. In relation to the I - here and nowposition of the lifeworld the surrealism of Bataille can be seen as a downwardgoing rhetoric on the Great Chain of Being, the hierarchy of the lifeworld, from stone, via object, plant and man, to society or God. Bataille´s highlighting of the material and animal nature of man is an opposition to the upwardgoing spiritualising rhetoric of André Breton´s. The main rhetorical device in Strömholm’s photography is a downwardgoing isolation of the object from the lifeworld, according to Jan-Gunnar Sjölin surrealism’s first maneuvre. However, Bataille´s rhetoric and Strömholm´s photography may also be seen as a modern variant of the ancient grotesque degradation that according to Michail Bakhtin once took place in popular carnivals and marketplaces. The degradation of Bakhtin, George Lakoff and Mark Turner’s notion of conceptual metaphor suggests a rhetoric of the lifeworld itself, which may allow us to understand pictorial rhetoric without the help of the theories of the artworld, such as surrealism’s theories. Strömholm´s work is studied in relation to Roman Jakobsons functions in the process of communication. The dominant function in the photographs is the metasemiotic, since pictures and other signs are depicted and commented on. Also the photographs of transsexuals depict and comment signs, men that are signs of women. His photographs of transsexuals has been interpreted as a social realistic documentary, but is better understood as a surrealist union of two terms as unlike as possible, femininity and masculinity. Another important function in his photographs is the interpersonal function suggesting a conjunction of emotive and conative functions. Along with isolation concealment of the object is used, which makes the object difficult to identify. We are not allowed to complete the act of perception, we see only the point of view. In Strömholm’s photography, the point of view of the invisible ”picture-self” with its unique perspective replaces the customary photographic referential image supposed to show “reality.” The notion of ”picture-self” suggests a differentiation between photographer and ”picture-self”, a ready-prepared position for a subject, that the photographer or viewer can place him/herself in. In being placed in this position an existential particualrization occurs, which is termed ”la condition humaine”. Walter Benjamin´s idea of ”the outmoded” and ”the ruins of the bourgeoisie”, Susan Sontag´s idea of the role of ugliness in modern photography, is seen in relation to Strömholms photography and the downwardgoing surrealist rhetoric. In Benjamin´s ”age of reproduction” there is in the photographic work of Strömholm, a tension between ”centripetality” and ”centrifugality”; of remaining in or departing from the artworld. His work is also discussed in relation to postvisualization as an opposition to the well known photographic notion of previsualization. In order to explain different rhetorical maneuvres semiotically in relation to the spatial lifeworld, the notion of familiarization is used as an opposition to Victor Shklovskys well known notion of estrangement. In the model of “the Great Cross”, with its origo as the familiarity of the I-here-nowposition of the core of the lifeworld, a vertical axis is the Great Chain of Being, ending on both ends with what is considered strange. Also ending with what is strange is a horizontal axis with rhetorical relations on the same level. A similar cross is used to explain rhetorical temporal movements between past and present and present and future with the present I - here and nowsituation of the origo. A conclusion is that visual and cultural semiotics is an enlightening tool for practical analyses even of an œuvre that is as enigmatic as that of Strömholm´s.

Resumen

The modern swedish atheism is led by Christer Sturmark, chairman of Humanisterna, the swedish humanists. In this essay I study the epistemology of Christer Sturmark to find out on what basis he makes his assumptions about knowledge, faith, belief and his view that scientism is the only way to reach real knowledge. I present a closer historical look at the research about and philosophy of epistemology in general and then I analyze Christer Sturmarks book "Tro och Vetande 3.0 - Upplysning i det 21:a århundradet" and compare the views presented in that book to historical and contemporary philopsohers and religous scholars to extract the epistemology of Christer Sturmark, as it is presented in his book. To gain a more thorough understanding of his epistemolgy, I then compare his view to the swedish churchs´view of God as omnipotent. Finally I present a conclusion about the nature of Christer Sturmarks epistemology, if it is logically consistent and how it relates to the way humans can organize their understanding of the world.

”Gemensamt är att alla bolag skall vara undervärderade och noterade och i behov att styras upp”

Uppsatsen handlar om vad Gardell gör, något så ovanligt som att gå in i börsbolag och påverka som minoritetsägare inifrån. Något som kräver stort kapital och klar strategi. Uppsatsen ämnar, att med hjälp av de tre tidigare innehaven Skandia, Lindex och Perstorp, analysera hur Gardell skapar värde. Hur väljer Gardell ut vilka företag som är värda att satsa på och hur kommer han in i bolagen? Hur skapar Gardell legitimitet och hur förankrar han sina förslag hos ägare och ledning? Med hjälp av egenutvecklad Management by Media modell samt Ellis och Williams omstruktureringsmodell analyseras fallföretagen. Analysen visar att Gardell flitigt tillämpar Management by Media samt att legitimitet och makt söks genom valberedningsdeltagande och i förlängningen genom plats i styrelsen. Ytterligare en viktig upptäckt är ägarförändringen, efter Gardells inträde tenderar andelen utländska ägare öka kraftigt. Undersökningen visar att arbetet har benägenhet att ske i tre steg i enlighet med Omstruktureringsmodellen, interna förändringar, externa förändringar och därefter finansiella förändringar.

Fem faktorer är viktiga visar analysen och dessa efterfrågas av Gardell och Cevian Capital om bolaget skall ses som potentiellt investeringsobjekt. Ägarna missnöjda med ledningen, Intressanta marknader, Kapitalmix/hög soliditet, Organisatoriska imperfektioner och verksam i Stabila branscher.

Slutsatserna konkretiseras i en avslutande diskussion kring framtida potentiella

investeringar. Följande fem bolag anses uppfylla dessa ovanstående kriterier; Tele2, Stora Enso, Skanska, SSAB samt Assa-Abloy.

Resumen

I ett avsnitt av talkshowen Real Time with Bill Maher utbröt en spontan, hetsig diskussion mellan skådespelaren Ben Affleck och filosofen/författaren Sam Harris. Harris var inbjuden till programmet för att diskutera sin nya bok om spiritualitet, men kort efter att Harris anslutit sig till panelen med gäster så kom istället samtalet att kretsa kring islam och islamofobi. Affleck gick till verbal attack och anklagade Harris för att vara islamofob och rasist. Efter programmet sänts så blev debatten väldigt uppmärksammad i olika medier. Andra TV-program diskuterade dispyten och det skrevs artiklar om den i stora tidningar som The New York Times och The Atlantic. Klippet från programmet har i skrivandets stund (2017-08-18) nästan fem miljoner visningar på Youtube. Drygt tre år före debatten i Real Time with Bill Maher skulle den svenska tidskiften Sans publicera sitt premiärnummer. Temat för den första upplagan var kvinnoförtryck inom olika religioner, varav en av religionerna var islam. Detta i kombination med att premiärnumrets omslag pryddes av en kvinna iklädd burka väckte en del uppmärksamhet, om än inte i samma utsträckning som debatten mellan Affleck och Harris. En av dem som uppmärksammade och kritiserade tidskriften var prästen och journalisten Helle Klein. I ett avsnitt av SVT Morgon mötte hon Humanisternas ordförande Christer Sturmark för att debattera huruvida Sans artiklar och omslag var islamofobiska eller om det bara rörde sig om religionskritik. Vad som följde var även här en hetsig debatt. Denna uppsats ämnar analysera vad som gick fel i debatten samt vilka argument debattörerna använder som stöd för sin ståndpunkt.

Resumen

Shifts in social attitudes towards American Christianity have resulted in a changed representation of Christ figures, specifically in their representation on television. Traditional Christ figures, those who believed in unconditional love and self-sacrifice for the greater good, clung to the church view and were figures of virtue and innocence. Modern Christ figures have become what I call "Common Christs"—people who are less likely to be the image of sinless perfection and more often violent and profane saviors. These modern stand-ins are usually from blue-collar or lower class backgrounds; they are the Christs of the common man. Generally, these Common Christs are in opposition with the dogmatic authority of the Christian church. The storylines that have Common Christs as their heroes often depict the organized religion of the church as an enemy, a negative institution trying to prevent the salvation of the common man by the common man. The purpose of my dissertation is to examine Common Christs as they appear in cult television shows that embrace and make strong use of Christian mythology without being considered Christian television, specifically The X-Files, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and Supernatural, to show how this changed image works as evidence of what I call the development of a textual religion. Ultimately, I hope that my discussion of Common Christs and textual religion will lead into a larger discussion between the academic camps of religious studies, pop culture studies and literary criticism about the importance of cross-disciplinary focus.

In the eastern half of Germany migrants remain a small minority and find themselves surrounded by a predominantly secular society. In examining how Christian migrants from Africa achieve social integration within Leipzig, this study focuses on the relationship between integration and identity. Paradoxically, an African identity can promote integration where the structure of local parishes allows this.

Resumen

Denna uppsats syftar till att ge en bild av förbundet Humanisternas debatt och porträttering av islam och muslimer. Detta med hjälp av utländska ateister som även förekommit i förbundets egen tidskrift Humanisten. Mina frågeställningar är: Hur framställs islam och muslimer av media och av förbundet Humanisterna? Vilken kritik har framförts av Humanisterna angående islam och muslimer? Bidrar förbundet till en ökad schablonisering av islam och muslimer? För att nämna kortfattat vad jag kommit fram till kan det sägas att Humanisterna, när de skriver om islam eller muslimer, delvis är intoleranta i sin retorik. Den kritik som framförts mot förbundet är bland annat att de vill tvinga på en sekulär livsåskådning och att de tror dig ha ett slags monopol på sanningen. Eftersom den mediebild som redan existerar av islam och muslimer är negativt laddad, så hjälper Humanisterna till att öka den bild av islam som finns som den ”onda, mörka” religionen i vår tid, det vill säga, man bidrar till redan existerande schablonisering av muslimer.

Resumen

Religion ist für viele Menschen ein wichtiger Bestandteil ihres Seins. Sie identifizieren und definieren sich über ihre Zugehörigkeit zu dieser. Jede konkurrierende Weltanschauung wird dabei meist als Bedrohung angesehen und mehr oder weniger stark in Wort, Schrift oder Tat bekämpft. Besonders die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Islam hat sich in den letzten Jahren drastisch verschärft und führt immer wieder zu heftigen verbalen oder gewalttätigen Angriffen. Das Ringen um Verständigung bzw. Abgrenzung und die damit verbundenen Konflikte und Diskussionen sind jedoch nicht neu, sondern ziehen sich wie ein roter Faden durch die Geschichte. Interessant aus heutiger Zeit ist deshalb die Erschließung der Anfangsdebatte am Entstehungsort des Islams. Auf welche Weise und mit welchen Mitteln setzten sich die unmittelbar von der arabischen Herrschaft betroffenen Christen mit der neuen Religion auseinander? Wie entwickelten sich die Argumentationsmuster in den Anfängen des Religionsdiskurses? Welche hauptsächlichen religiösen Unterschiede wurden wahrgenommen und thematisiert? Anhand einiger Texte des Johannes Damaskenos und des Theodor Abū Qurra soll diesen Fragen auf den Grund gegangen werden.
Religion is an important component of her being for many people. They identify and define themselves over her affiliation to this. Besides, every competing world view is mostly looked as a menace and is fought more or less strongly in word, writing or action. Particularly the discussion with Islam has drastically intensified during the last years and leads over and over again to fierce verbal or violent attacks. Nevertheless, the struggle around notification or demarcation and the conflicts linked with it and discussions are not new, but stretch like a red thread through the history. Therefore, interesting from today's time is the development of the beginning debate in the place of origin of Islam. In which manner and with which means did the Christians immediately affected by the Arabian rule argue with the new religion? How did the argumentation patterns develop in the beginnings of the religious discourse? Which principal religious differences were perceived and picked out as a central theme? With the help of some texts of Johannes Damaskenos and Theodor Abū Qurra should become to these questions on the reason gone.

The history of interpretation of the phrase nous Christou, which Paul employs in 1 Cor 2:16, mainly focuses on tracing the Hellenistic influence on his writings. Resumen

Consacrée aux représentations de l’Ascension du Christ en Occident entre le 9e et le 13e siècle, la thèse entreprise propose une analyse de l’épisode de la montée du Christ au ciel d’après son iconographie. Cette analyse comporte plusieurs séquences. S’agissant d’un sujet religieux, nous avons d’abord présenté les sources canoniques, puis les commentaires qui en ont été faits. Une mise au point sur la liturgie a également été nécessaire. En méthode, selon les principes de l’analyse sérielle visant à repérer les récurrences et les particularités d’un sujet iconographique, un corpus de 325 œuvres a été constitué. Le nombre conséquent d’œuvres recensées a permis d’utiliser différentes méthodes statistiques, comme l’analyse factorielle multiple (AFM) et l’analyse statistique implicative (ASI) : combinant méthodes quantitative et qualitative, ces outils ont permis de mettre en lien des interactions entre les différents motifs de l’image. Nous avons ainsi dégagé plusieurs types iconographiques dans la manière de représenter le Christ, mettant en avant la mobilité iconographique du sujet. Cette méthode nous a permis de dégager les traits d’interprétation de l’image. Nous avons procédé à l’analyse de l’image à travers l’étude des motifs iconographiques, le schéma de composition du sujet, ou encore l’interprétation d’un programme iconographique. La mise en parallèle avec des commentaires de l’Ascension a offert un nouvel éclairage sur l’interprétation des images : reflet d’une époque, d’une pensée commune, il a été possible d’apporter de nouvelles clés de lecture de certaines représentations ou associations d’images. À travers l’étude de l’iconographie de l’Ascension du Christ, c’est toute la complexité de l’image médiévale qui est apparue. D’abord étudiée pour elle-même dans l’analyse des motifs, elle a mis en lumière la diversité du sujet, d’un point de vue tant iconographique que théologique. Replacée ensuite dans son contexte de création, elle a révélé de nouvelles combinaisons iconographiques, aboutissant à de nouvelles possibilités de comprendre l’image
This thesis is dedicated to western representations of the Ascension of Jesus Christ between the IX and XIII Centuries and offers an analysis of this episode according to its iconography. This analysis consists of several sequences. As it is a religious subject, we have first the canonical sources, followed by the comments made on them. Clarification on the liturgy was also necessary. For the method, and according to the principles of serial analysis aimed at identifying the recurrences and particularities of an iconographical subject, a corpus of 325 works of art was constituted. The substantial amount of inventoried works of art permitted utilising different methods of statistics, such as the Implicative Statistical Analysis (ISA) and the Multiple Factorial Analaysis (MFA). These tools, combining quantitative and qualitative methods, permitted the establishment of connections between the images’ different motives. Several iconographical types in the representation of Christ were identified, showing the iconographical mobility of this subject.This method also allowed us to reach the main iconographical lines of the image. We proceeded to the images’ analysis through studying the iconographical motives, the subject’s composition and the interpretation of the iconographical programme. The parallel display with the comments on the Ascension shed new light upon those images’ interpretation: reflection of a time, a common belief; it was possible to bring new keys of understanding of certain representations or associated images. Through the iconographical study of Christ’s Ascension, the whole complexity of medieval image was brought highlighted. Firstly studied for itself during the motives analysis, it showed the diversity of the subject from iconographical and theological points of view. Later replaced in its context of creation, it revealed new iconographical combinations, leading to new possibilities of interpreting the image

C’est tout particulièrement au chapitre X du De Trinitate qu’Hilaire de Poitiers place sa distinction du dolereet du pati du Christ au coeur d'une ample réflexion doctrinale visant à démontrer que l'Incarnation et la Passion du Christ, témoignant de l'humanité assumée en vertu de «l'économie» (dispensatio), n'avaient en rien altéré la plénitude de sa divinité. Mais la pensée d'Hilaire est parfois considérée comme difficile, voire obscure. Hilaire, confesseur de la foi, aurait-il tenu des propos contraires à l'orthodoxie ? Qu'a-t-il réellement pensé des servitudes liées à la condition humaine du Christ (faim, soif, larmes) ainsi que des «passions» qu'il s'agisse des souffrances d'origine corporelle ou psychologique qu'il eut à traverser ? Comment le mystère de l'Incarnation pouvait éclairer le mystère de la Passion du Christ ? Ces constats ont invité à une relecture des interrogations d'Hilaire sur l'humanité souffrante du Verbe incarné dans le contexte historique de ses œuvres : la période pré-exilique de l'évêque de Poitiers avec son In Matthaeum, la période de son exil en Phrygie (356-360) avec son immersion dans l’Église d'Orient et deux ouvrages : le De Trinitate et le De Synodis, sa période post-exilique avec son Tractatus super Psalmos
It is particularly in Chapter X of De Trinitate that Hilary of Poitiers places his distinction of Christ's dolere and pati at the heart of an extensive doctrinal reflection aiming to demonstrate that the Incarnation and Passion of Christ, testimonials of Christ's human nature assumed by virtue of «economy» (dispensatio), had ot altered the fullness of His divinity. Nonetheless, the thought of Hilary is sometimes considered difficultor even obscure. Could Hilary, confessor of the faith, have made statements contrary to Orthodoxy ? What did he truly think of the thralls relating to the human condition of Christ (hunger, thirst, tears) as well as ofthe « passions », whether they were sufferings of either bodily or psychological origin, that Christ would have had to traverse ? How does the mystery of the Incarnation shed light upon the mystery of Christ'sPassion ? These observations have prompted a new reading of Hilary's views on the Incarnate Word's suffering human nature, and this, according to the historical context of his works : a) the pre-exilic period of the Bishop of Poitiers with his In Matthaeum, b) the per-exilic period in Phrygia (356-360) with his immersion in the Eastern Church and two works, De Trinitate and De Synodis and, finally, c) the post-exilicperiod with his Tractatus super Psalmos
