Resumen
Abstract BACKGROUND: Proteus vulgaris is highly resistant to many currently available antibiotics. The bacterium is pathogenic to humans causing urinary tract infection and wound infection. The enzyme urease produced by bacterium also leads to formation of struvite stone in urinary tract. The present study was carried out to evaluate anti–P. vulgaris activity of flavonoid fraction of selected plants as well as to determine their antioxidant potential. METHODS: The selected plants are popularly used as spices in India and subcontinent. Flavonoid fraction of Ammomum subulatum Roxb., (Brihat Ela)

Resumen
Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic idiopathic gastrointestinal dis-ease, including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD), which is typically characterized by chronicity and relapse. Cinnamtannin D1 (CTD1), extracted from Cinnamomum tamala, has been found to exert good immunosuppressive activity. However, the role of CTD1 in IBD is unclear. Methods: The colitis mice model was established by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) treat-ment. Protein levels (p-STAT3/STAT3, ROR-γt, p-STAT5/STAT5, FOXP3, p-AMPK/AMPK, and p-mTOR/mTOR) were examined using Western blotting anal

Resumen
Abstract Though the leaves of Cinnamomum tamala is extensively employed in culinary applications due to its rich aroma and therapeutic properties, the produce exhibits variability in composition and contents of leaf essential oil due to fluctuations in climatic conditions and harvesting time. This work evaluated the impact of seasonal and diurnal variations on the composition and contents of aroma volatiles in the mature leaves of C. tamala. In summer, the profile of aroma volatile was dominated by phenylpropanoids (112.96 ± 24.11 μg/g of freeze-dried leaf tissue) while in winter monoterpenes

Resumen
The current work investigates the chemodiversity, in vitro antioxidant, α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase inhibitory potential of Cinnamomum tamala leaf essential oil collected from different localities of East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, India. Gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) analysis of all the extracted leaf essential oils facilitated the identification of several compounds in a variable range along with eugenol as the major component (74.79‐95.12 %). CT8 exhibited the highest antioxidant activity (IC50 = 11.23 ± 0.27 μg/mL for DPPH and IC50 = 21.54 ± 0.37 μg/mL for ABTS) amon
