Resumen
This work shows the study of a valuable hoard of gold coins found in 1965 in the archaeological site of Ordona, ancient Roman city of Herdonia (Apulia, Southern Italy). This precious treasure, preserved in the MArTA museum of Taranto (Southern Italy), consists of a Byzantine solid (nomisma) and 147 Arab-type gold tarì. All coins were analysed using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) in order to determine their chemical composition. The experimental results were processed using multivariate statistical techniques, such as principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical clustering

The purpose of this article, the authors examine the question of whether this follis and its fractions should be regarded as variants of the well-known Class 5 coins (Heraclius in military dress but without a sword) or as a separate type. Scientific novelty. The sword coins – are they varieties of Class 5 or a new type? There has been no conclusive answer but the general opinion favours a straightforward variety. This view

This article concerns the dating of the Caucasian Albanian palimpsest (Gospel of John) on the basis of a refined interpretation of the monetary term **zaizowzńa. In the first part of paper is offered and justified the etymology of the word **zaizowzńa, that derived from the Sasanian monetary term zūzā ‘dirham’. The Albanian umbrella term **zaizowzńa indicated a general concept of a ‘zuza-like (coin)’, which unified wide range of various imitations of Hormizd IV’s silver coins (or ZWZWN, as they named in Pahlavi on coins), struck in the end of the 6th century after defeating of Varhrān Čōbīn in

Archaeological research at Marea/Philoxenite, conducted by the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw in collaboration with the Archaeological Museum in Kraków since 2000, has focused mainly on the site of the Great Basilica — one of the largest Christian basilicas of Egypt — and some other parts of the city. Located in the center of the Late Roman city of Kourion, the bascilical precinct occupied a space just off of the old Roman forum.
