Resumen
ABSTRACT Comet 2I/Borisov is the first true interstellar comet discovered. Here, we present results from observational programs at two Indian observatories, 2 m Himalayan Chandra Telescope at the Indian Astronomical Observatory, Hanle (HCT) and 1.2 m telescope at the Mount Abu Infrared Observatory (MIRO). Two epochs of imaging and spectroscopy were carried out at the HCT and three epochs of imaging at MIRO. We found CN to be the dominant molecular emission on both epochs, 2019 November 30 and December 22, at distances of rH = 2.013 and 2.031 au, respectively. The comet was inferred to be relat

Aims. Prior to 2019, the June epsilon Ophiuchids (JEO) were known as a minor unconfirmed meteor shower with activity that was considered typically moderate for bright fireballs. An unexpected bout of enhanced activity was observed in June 2019, which even raised the possibility that it was linked to the impact of the small asteroid 2019 MO near Puerto Rico. Early reports also point out the similarity of the shower to the orbit of the comet 300P/Catalina. Due to their similar appearance, it is challenging to distinguish dormant comets from ACOs via general telescopic observations. Surveys for discriminating dormant comets from the ACO population have been conducted via spectroscopy or optical and mid-infrared photometry. However, they have not been conducted through polarimetry. Aims. We conducted the first polarimetric research of ACOs. Methods. Abstract Background We have recently established that increased chromosomal instability (CIN) signature is linked to drug resistance and poor outcome in multiple myeloma (MM) and other cancers. Thyroid Hormone Receptor Interactor 13 (Trip13), one of the 56 drug-resistant genes, plays a key role in chromosomal recombination and structure development during meiosis and has been reported to be increased in some malignancies including lung cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer. In this study, we investigated how important Trip13 is in myelomagenesis and progression. Materials and Methods Gene

Aims. We provide a measurement of the seasonal evolution of the dust deposit erosion and accretion in the Hapi region of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko with a vertical accuracy of 0.2–0.9 m. Methods. We used OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera images with a spatial scale of lower than 1.30 m px−1 and developed a tool to monitor the time evolution of 22 boulder heights with respect to the surrounding dust deposit. The tool is based on the measurement of the shadow length projected by the boulder on the surrounding pebble deposit. Assuming the position of the boulders does not change during the observat

Abstract We report results from new and archival observations of the newly discovered active asteroid (248370) 2005 QN173 (also now designated Comet 433P), which has been determined to be a likely main-belt comet based on a subsequent discovery that it is recurrently active near perihelion. From archival data analysis, we estimate g ′ -, r ′ -, i ′ -, and z ′ -band absolute magnitudes for the nucleus of H g = 16.62 ± 0.13, H r = 16.12 ± 0.10, H i = 16.05 ± 0.11, and H z = 15.93 ± 0.08, corresponding to nucleus colors of g ′ − r ′ = 0.50 ± 0.16 , r ′ − i ′ = 0.07 ± 0.15 , and i ′ − z ′ = 0.12 ±

AbstractOn Earth, microorganisms living under intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation stress can adopt endolithic lifestyles, growing within cracks and pore spaces in rocks. Intense UV irradiation encountered by microbes leads to death and significant damage to biomolecules, which also severely diminishes the likelihood of detecting signatures of life. Here we show that porous rocks shocked by asteroid or comet impacts provide protection for phototrophs and their biomolecules during 22 months of UV radiation exposure outside the International Space Station. Aristolochic acids (AAs) are a group of nitrophenanthrene carboxylic acids present in many medicinal herbs of the Aristolochia genus that may cause irreversible hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, genotoxicity and carcinogenicity. However, the specific profile of AAs and their toxicity in Aristolochia plants, except for AAs Ι and ΙΙ, still remain unclear. In this study, a total of 52 batches of three medicinal herbs belonging to the Aristolochia family were analyzed for their AA composition profiles and AA contents using the UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS approach. Abstract Introduction Circadian misalignment from night shift (NS) work is associated with increased risk of cancer. In a simulated NS study, we sought to investigate the potential role of circadian disruption of cancer hallmark pathway genes. Methods N=14 healthy adults (aged 22-34) participated in a laboratory study. Seven were assigned to a simulated day shift (DS) schedule involving 3 days of daytime wakefulness (06:00-22:00); the other seven were assigned to a simulated NS schedule involving 3 days of nighttime wakefulness (18:00-10:00). Subjects then underwent a 24-hour constant routine

Resumen
Abstract Introduction The elevated cancer risk associated with night shift work is poorly understood. To investigate whether circadian disruption may play a role, we assessed the circadian transcriptome and its association with hallmark cancer pathways, as well as sensitivity to endogenous and exogenous sources of DNA damage, after in-laboratory simulated shift work. Methods N=14 healthy humans (aged 22-34y; 10m, 4f) were exposed to a simulated night shift schedule (daytime sleep: 10:00-18:00) or a simulated day shift schedule (nighttime sleep: 22:00-06:00) for 3 days (n=7 in each condition).

Smoke-related effects were seen for parameters of DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, and glycoxidation. Abstract We present photometric observations of the BL Lacertae object S5 0716+714 with a temporal resolution of 120 s in the Sloan i ′ and r ′ bands. These observations were conducted using the Comet Search Program telescope at Xingming Observatory from 2018 December 22 to 2020 February 15, and more than 5600 effective images were obtained on each filter across 79 nights. Additionally, we compiled long-term variability data spanning 34 yr in the optical UBVRI bands. Background/Objectives: Cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) is obtained during the industrial processing of cashew nuts. It contains anacardic acid (2-hydroxy-6-n-pentadecylbenzoic acid) and cardanol (3-n-pentadecylphenol). Therefore, CNSL provides a rich source of phenolic lipids serving as natural antioxidants or precursors for industrial uses. Here, we have analyzed in detail a commercial sample of cardanol by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and its biological activities in the human keratinocyte cell line (HaCaT cells).
