Texto completoJarry seems to have completely abandoned the learned syntaxic and lexical complications which characterized his first texts when he worked as a literary critic in la revue blanche. in fact, the author of messaline keeps exerting, but in an extremely underlying way, a kind of obscurity. that obscurity is paradoxical, in the sense that it is not apparent and that it ultimately results in the abiding development of an aesthetic of the abridged, and in an apparent setting back of his presence of critic, even in the very act of making reports. jarry gives all the importance to the commented text, hushing up the way he has to quote it, incessantly. thus, this work is led, on the one hand, by our concern of revealing the way the aesthetic of the abridged appears – jarry proceeds by ceaseless syntheses, which, by dint of being asserted, become either obscure or elusive – in those litterary criticisms which seem to be bread and butter work, because the author of le surmâle presents in them real concretions of sense, in connection with the notion of erudition, in extremely diverse fields. on the other hand, our work aims at showing how jarry diverts the usual use of the quotation – that carries a corrosive criticism of the status of critic – the author of la chandelle verte becoming a critic who expresses himself mostly according to the total absence of critical words, because when it is a question of expressing "judgments", this is in fact to continue to weave a filiation with an authors' community of which he feels close to, and thus, mainly, with the place of le mercure de france

Texto completoBetween 1947 and 1964, Maurice Thorez, general secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF), attended 381 meetings of the Politburo and took notes during most of them. This work reports commented notes of five crucial years for the PCF and defines the role of the Politburo as the directing organ in the decision-making process of the PCF. Relying on Maurice Thorez' notes and relating them to other available sources, the purpose was to demonstrate how the Politburo played a mediation role at the direction of the party. Composed of leaders selected on precise criteria, specific to communist organizations, faithful to the USSR and to their general secretary, the Politburo used to meet at least once a week for talking mainly about the political context - national and international, but also for discussing the international communist movement and brother parties, as well as favourite subjects of the communist party, i.e. the movement for peace, union struggles or social classes for instance. Even if the guidelines were often drawn by the USSR, Maurice Thorez used 10 adapt them to the French context, with the help of the Politburo. The latter fed and enriched the general secretary's thoughts and acted as a transmission vehicle. It was an essential intermediary between the general secretary, representing the international communist movement, and the grassroots represented by the Central Committee

Texto completoOderigo di credi, a florentine goldsmith, wrote this manuscript between 1406 and 1430. The first part consists in a complete record of the numerous suits brought against him by a relative and the communal and religious authorities about an inheritance. The second part is a journal concerning the estate he thus acquired in the florentine countryside and leased to sharecroppers. The edition includes the integral transcription of the manuscript and a commentary on the author's life, the originality of his book of "ricordanze" and the day-to-day relationships between the peasants and their landlord from the city

Texto completoMichel, Christine. "Edition commentée du Journal dirigé de Joe Bousquet". Paris 7, 1987. http://www.theses.fr/1987PA070097.
Texto completoThis is a substantial critical edition transformed into an annotated edition of the Journal dirigé. The manuscript made publicly available in 1980, is one of several related texts known as "case manuscripts". Composed between 1939 & 1946 it appears at first to be the very last novel by Bousquet but in which the autobiographical tenor seems even more pronounced than in the earlier novels. An initial editing & critical appreciation of the other manuscripts from the case enabled study & annotated edition of this one, a more accurate determination of the place the Journal dirigé occupies in the creative & theoretical work of Bousquet as well as in the historical context in which it was composed: during the IInd. World war, just between the novels cycle completed in 1939 and the diaries cycle initiated in 1938 & at the same time as the poetical work small yet remarkably complex, & critical reflexions about literature & art which became proeminent following publication and reading of les fleurs de Tarbes. The perspective which thus emerged let me to study Bousquet's corres pondence with Paulhan, Dubuffet & Bellmer. The annotated edition has attempted to correct numerous errors concerned with text establishment, dating & interpretating in the first edition & to present a more accurate & refine rendering of the text whilst at the same time suggesting a more precise understanding of the main text of the Journal dirigé and ancillary text. This enables us to define be role, place & sequence of the "case manuscripts" as a whole, the most subtle & purposely posthumous part of which is the Journal dirigé, & through the latter, the key-elements of the bousquetian creation; lastly it is possible to establish the nature & fiction of the interplay of the accessible & the recondite, directed by the choice of romanesque fiction which proves both illusory & derisive

The main objective of this dissertation was to edit 31 still unpublished works of the composer Adelaide Pereira da Silva, and to produce a commented catalog of these works. This work is relevant because she is a female composer in full activity, a defender and promoter of Brazilian musical folklore and its roots and who, throughout her life, has taken important positions in this area, with wide experience as a music teacher in schools and universities in São Paulo. To accomplish such objective, besides the editing of the sheet music, a bibliographical research was performed in order to conceptualize and present the functions related to the edition of musical works and to document women's work in the several subareas of music. Some interviews and oral testimonies by the composer are to be included in the commented catalog of the works, as well as the collected documents that describe part of her musical trajectory (photos, concert programs, awards, among others), which appear as annexes to this work. Sheet music was edited through FINALE 2012 software and registered at National Library Foundation (National Library of Brazil). The paper includes a chapter presenting a concise history of the musical work of Brazilian women composers, followed by a chapter partially describing the trajectory of Adelaide Pereira da Silva, and a third one, dedicated to the edition of sheet music. The commented catalog contains the sheet music, organized according to the criteria of instrumentation; a summary, intended to describe part of this file in a systematic way and whose function is to guide the consultation and determine which are the documents belonging to this research instrument.
Paris 4, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005PA040123.
Texto completoWritten in the second half of the first century B. C. , Book XX of Diodorus Siculus relates the events of the years 310 to 302 B. C. All districts of the Mediterranean world are concerned. In the Western Mediterranean, Diodorus relates the military expedition of Syracuse tyrant Agathokles against Carthago, and his subsequent fights against the rival cities of Sicily. In the Eastern Mediterranean, Diodorus writes about the difficulties of the Diadochoi in dividing Alexander's Empire, and particularly about Antigonos Monophtalmos' attempt at unification, with the help of his son Demetrios Poliorcetes. Antigonos' will to hegemony appears in his expeditions against Cyprus (307 B. C. ), Egypt (306 B. C. ), Rhodes (305 B. C. ) and Greece (304 to 302 B. C. ). In Italy, Diodorus refers briefly to the differents steps of the Roman expansion. The Greek text is given in a new edition with critical apparatus, French translation and a commentary explaining the structure of the text, giving geographical and technical informations and presenting historical complements and synthesises. The text is also accompanied with an introduction presenting the main characteristics of the book. This introduction consists of a study of the chronological and thematical organisation of the book, completed with the examination of Diodorus' sources and of the way he adapted them; the argument is that Diodorus' style of writing reveals a new and original conception of History

Texto completoIn 1905, an article by Dubreuil-Chambardel was published on the subject of a recipe book dating from the end of the XVth century. After much research, we found the manuscript at the departmental archives of Le Mans (France). Our transcription and then our study of this text revealed the great importance of this work. It is, according to Mary Hyman, the first manuscript which deals with how to make jam. The main feature of this work resides in the importance it accords to sugar as a cooking ingredient, and which is used for preservation purposes and in the making of confectionery. In parallel to all there recipes, there are many other preparations for products such as digestive and household powders, perfumed waters, aromatic drinks, perfumes, colored candles and inks. Apart from the importance it accords to sugar, this recipe book is noteworthy in that it is the ancestor of the pantry books, ie books designed to teach the butler his trade; in the XVth century, the butler was in charge of wine matters and also of everything related to the table and the meal. This manuscript also provides us with a great deal of information about everyday medieval life and preoccupations, especially through the vocabulary used. Our work on the technical terms gives us great insights into XVth century culinary and domestic practices. In the same way, our analysis of the great number of plants cited in the text reveals a botanical universe with special medical virtues

Texto completoThe text was written in Latin, in 16th century Italy. It's analyzed under 3 angles. It's scientific because it involves physical sciences, mathematics, and medicine. The commentary also outlines the linguistic techniques used. Then the text is examined from a socio-historical point of view : historical and religious context, the alchemy's role and Cardan's errors regarding it. The 3rd analytic angle is philosophical. The thoughts of the sage mix humanism, stoicism and aristotelism. The commentary allows us to isolate Cardan's multiple sources of inspiration, to conclude that he's a real encyclopaedist and that his thoughts are brilliant, progressive but often ambiguous. It seems very important to discover this text which is essential to have a better knowledge of Renaissance's mentality

Texto completoFrançois de La Noue (1531-1591), a French protestant gentleman, composed, during his time in prison, Discours politiques et militaires published in 1587 : here we give you a commented edition, preceded by an introduction, made up of seven chapters. The first one describes the author’s life, closely related to the religious wars. We then focused on the genesis of the Discours, before establishing a complete catalogue of the editions and issues of the book. This chapter ends with an assessment of the studies devoted to La Noue. After that, this gentleman’s cultural universe, which wielded sword and quill is examined: by identifying the sources of the Discours, we have reconstituted his library. Wanting to restore the state, he denounces, moralistically, a corruption of values and he proposes, in way of reform, an educational program. His political vision, taken from the Holy Scripture and his political role during the wars make up Chapter 4. Chapter 5 looks at the war from both a legitimacy side and from the side of the military institutions that La Noue sought to improve. Speech XXVI, which talks about the history of the civil wars made us question, in Chapter 6, his conception and composition of history. We finish with a rhetorical approach to the question of the genre of the Discours. Several documents in the appendix bring clarification. To follow: Discours politiques et militaires, with critiques and historical and lexical notes. A glossary, an index and a bibliography complete this thesis

Texto completoThe thesis concerns two works from the hippocratic corpus : praecepts and physician. For each work, the thesis first addresses the questions of their content and structure with a brief summary of each work and discussion of the probable date of composition. The introduction also considers the transmission of the text ; there is a description of the manuscripts and probable stemmata and of the choice of the manuscripts appearing in the critical apparatus. Finally, the introduction presents the preceding editions of these two works, from the 16th century ot ou day. The thesis establishes the greek text of each work, based on the manuscripts and editions in the critical apparatus (which appears beneath the greek text). The greek text is followed by a french translation and a commentary. The commentary discusses questions relative to the establishment of the greek text, the difficulties of certain terms or passages, and the problems relating to the interpretation of each of these two works
Brancato, Vittoria. "Le canzoni morali di Guittone d’Arezzo : edizione critica e commento". Thesis, Paris Sciences et Lettres (ComUE), 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019PSLEP015.
Texto completoWe still lack nowadays a modern, critical and commented edition of the entire poetical corpus of Guittone D’Arezzo. This gap concerns one of the most important personalities of the Italian Poetry of the Middle Ages, which has been considered obscure, and condemned – especially by the auctoritas of Dante in De Vulgari Eloquentia –, if not to oblivion, at least to unpopularity. After two editions, the first, exhaustive, by Lodovico Valeriani (1828), and the second, restricted to love poetry, by Flaminio Pellegrini (1901), the edition by Francesco Egidi (1940) establishes a vulgata, but cannot still be considered as a really critical one. The review by Gianfranco Contini (1941) has defined the guiding principles for a future critical edition. My research is dedicated to the less known and more “unlucky” part of the poetical production of Guittone, his moral and philosophical poetry, written after the poet’s conversion and enrollment in the order of Frati Gaudenti (around 1265). His moral poetry is central to the poet himself, but negligible in the larger context of the lirica italiana, later dominated by the Stil Novo’s revolution. The corpus analysed in this work is composed by 20 canzoni consered in four manuscripts of the XIIIth century: Città del Vaticano, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Vat. Lat. 3793; Firenze, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Laurenziano Redi 9; Firenze, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, Banco Rari 217; Firenze, Biblioteca Riccardiana, Ricc. 2533. The thesis examines a series of issues that needed to be studied, in particular those connected to the relationship between the manuscripts and the hypothesis that the sequence of texts in the Laurenziano manuscript could be attributed to Guittone himself. The edition is completed by a commentary trying to explain the meaning of every “canzone”, aiming to resolve the problem of Guittone’s obscuritas (the “canzoni” are followed by an accurate “translation” into modern Italian) and to define not only his role in the XIIIth century, his sources and his cultural and literary background, but also to study the influence of his ethical production on the following poets. The commentary further examines the level of recantation in his later work of the love poems, later regretted and rejected by Guittone himself. This critical edition of the canzoni morali finally allows an examination of their metrical peculiarities in relation to the “canzoni d’amore”, as well as it contributes to explore the relationship between the structure of the “canzone” in Guittone and Dante

Texto completoIn 1604, the Jesuit Louis Richeome (1544-1625) published for the first time Le Pelerin de Lorete. The book was reedited several times and was translated in three languages until 1628. Le Pelerin de Lorete was considered a best-seller for its time in France. Despite this initial success, the book remained unstudied until the late 19th century. Among the first literary critics to study Le Pelerin de Lorete was Henri Brémond (1865-1933). However, to date there is no critical edition of the book. Thus, this study proposes a new reading of Le Pelerin de Lorete as a religious book that oscillates between a catechism and a guide to spiritual meditation and between a pilgrimage account and an adventure novel. Moreover, by providing for the first time a visual and textual analysis of the book, we uncover the historical and religious context that made possible this unique piece

Texto completoThis PhD dissertation deals with a commentary on Synesius of Cyrene’s On Dreams, of which it includes the first critical edition. It is the result of a three-years research: I spent most of this time in Paris and Rome. The research allowed me to establish that the commentary approximately dates back to 1320s, that is, to the same period in which Nicephorus Gregoras wrote his commentary on the same Synesius’ treaty. This chronological coincidence led me to investigate the relationship between these two different exegetical works. I could not avoid wondering, for instance, “Which commentary has the chronological priority?”, “Who is the anonymous author of the inedited scholia and which is his relationship with Gregoras?”. The effort to answer to these questions finally led me to consider the real reasons for interest in the treaty On Dreams in that period, since it is the only Synesius’ work – apart from his epistolary – which has been commented by Byzantine scholars. Thus, the last part of the dissertation is dedicated to the historical analysis of the first Palaiologan period (late 13th – early 14th century). My conclusion is that – during a period of identity crisis – Byzantine scholars might find in this kind of works (dating back to Antiquity) their own cultural roots

Texto completoGiovanni Pascoli (1855-1912) is a classic of Italian literature. A bilingual poet writing in Italian and Latin. He has distinguished himself in the field of Neo-Latin literature by composing poems awarded in the certamen poeticum hoeufftianum. His Latin work, the Carminas, is almost unknown in France. The first objective of this doctoral research is to propose a bilingual edition, translated and commented, of a selection of Pascoli's Latin poems, accessible to a French audience not specialised in Latin or Italian literature. We have tried to select poems of various forms (narrative poems, epigrams, dedications odes) in order to give the reader an idea of what a complete edition of the Carmina could be like. In the introduction, we presented the biographical elements and the various aesthetic and linguistic aspects of Pascolian poetry that could facilitate the understanding of the texts. We also offer an analysis of the practice consisting in writing in Latin as a poetic experiment, and tried to situated this practice in relation to his contemporaries. We also tried as much as possible to study Pascoli's Latin poetry in relation to his Italian poetry. The second aspect of this thesis concerns the posthumous nature of this work, edited by the poet's sister, Maria Pascoli, with the help of philologist Ermenegildo Pistelli. Since the poet did not have time to propose a structure of his work in a collection, the Latin poems are organized according to thematic sections that are not always satisfactory (for example, the epigrams are published without organizational logic in a section containing all the short poems or the poems that could not be classified in the thematic sections). The digitization of all of G. Pascoli's drafts enabled us to explore the drafts of the author's plans, and we propose two possible collections in the introduction to this thesis: the first organized according to the chronology of the writing, the second organized according to the chronology of the facts represented. Our commented edition of the Carmina is presented according to the first organization, in order to offer an overview of Pascoli's writing as a process that has evolved over time. This study of the Pascholian writing process was also carried out at the poem level, in the detail of the composition. We made an XML-TEI genetic edition of a draft folder, that of the poem Crepereia Tryphaena. In this edition, we have described with great precision the writing gestures visible on the page (add, delete, substitute, move, rewrite a new version) and we have tried, when possible, to analyze the mental operations that caused these gestures. We have also tried to reconstruct the chronology of the writing of each draft, in order to create an editing prototype that allows us to read the drafts of poetry by displaying the text one writing campaign after the other and to visualize the modifications made by the author up to the scale of the letter. Thanks to this edition, we were able to analyse in detail the composition steps, the methods used by the author and the gestures made to carry out his project, and we deliver the results of this analysis at the end of the introduction of this thesis

The evolution of the text has enable me to show how antonio perez, whose original project was purely polemic and apologetic, progressively undertook a political reflexion, which heralded the aforismos y cartas. I have also focused my attention on the connections between the relactiones and antispanish black legend. The writings of antonio perez echo the criticism of the inquisition,,of king philip ii, and of castilla that wa iniciated in spain itself (i will provide in book iii some instances of the subversive literature that could be found in 1591 at the time of rebellion in zaragoza). That criticism aroused much interst, on account of the campaign against spain that had then been lauched in europe

Texto completoThis doctoral thesis presents, almost in its entirety, the critical edition with commentary of the exegesis of Petrarch’s Bucolicum carmen by Francesco Piendibeni of Montepulciano, an Italian humanist of the late Trecento. The exegesis, completed in Perugia in 1394, is preserved in the autograph manuscript Città del Vaticano, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Pal. lat. 1729. The work as a whole has remained unpublished until today; only Antonio Avena, in 1906, provided a simpletranscription, partial and imperfect, of some glosses. The edition contained in this thesis aims at being innovative; in effect, it not only establishes and critically analyses a text which has remained unknown for a long time, but also makes it possible to delve deeper into the knowledge of Petrarch’s bucolic poem, to better assess how it was received by the scholars who came after him and to shed light on the exegetical tradition of early Humanism. A fundamental source for Piendibeni was Benvenuto da Imola’s commentary on the Bucolicum carmen; an unpublished transcription is provided here, based on the manuscript Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, lat. 8700. Finally, the list of known manuscripts belonging to Piendibeni has been updated, so that, for the first time, his library has been exhaustively reconstructed

Texto completoDescribed as an « oeuvre steganographique » by its author, L’Histoire veritable ou Le Voyage des princes fortunez (1610) opens the way to alchemical novel in France, by reactivating the literary model of Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, « alchemized » by Nazari and Gohory before being edited by Beroalde de Verville (1556-1626), in 1600. Left in the dark for a long time, it was rediscovered by E. Vordemann (1933) who identified its main source, an Italian translation of Eastern tales, Peregrinaggio di tre figliuoli del re di Serendippo, by Cristoforo Armeno (1557). Enlightened by the essays on Beroalde, which followed the pioneering study by V.-L. Saulnier, our thesis provides a critical edition that reveals many sources, its genesis’ context and its literary models. The study shows how the fictional motif of alchemy deals with the scientific or bawdy conception of this art in the work of Beroalde, a polygraph writer and an alchemist doctor, and also how it renews the novelistic way of writing by stimulating a « juste curiosité » with its games. At last, it compares two texts by Beroalde, considered more political, his poem L’Idée de la république (1584), and his anonymous discourse, De la guerre (1589)

Texto completoThe aim of this research is the preparation of an annotated critical edition of the de Ludovico de Vartema bolognese of Bologna (1st ed. Rome, 1510). This is a record written by Vartema on his way back from a journey which took him from Venice to the East Indies and through Arabia between 1503 and 1508. It gives an account of the first journey made by a western man after the Portuguese created their commercial empire. Although in the sixteenth century several editions of this work in many languages were issued, it has never before been the subject of a critical edition. Vartema’s Itinerario is the account of a charming man who was able to get inside the minds of people distant from the western mentality. He has left us a unique document since the way his experiences have been told is poised among many disciplines including: political philology, language history, text analysis, history and geography, science book history, travel literature

Water Margin is an important and classic work of Chinese literature. It is an accumulation of works by several writers throughout history. Originally pure text, it was transformed into a novel with illustrations during Ming Dynasty. This study mainly focuses on the exploration of relevance between text and illustration with an attempt to analyze the correspondence or contradiction among the text and the illustration in the Water Margin. At the same time, the thesis is to evaluate formats and compositions of illustrations in different versions of Water Margin. Chapter one deals with the motivation for the study. It demonstrates the focused version of illustrated Water Margin among a collected repertoire, as well as the version that serves as a contrary. An analysis is provided to verify the notion that illustrations and virtual text can be mutually interpreted. Chapter two and three establish a comparison of Rong Yu Tang’s drawings in Mr. Li Zhuwu Criticized the Water Margin and other drawings from the perspective of mutual translation between text and illustrations. Chapter four synthesizes the outcome of comparison in Chapter Two and Chapter Three. The relevance between illustrations and text is explored. The correspondence and contradiction between the illustrations and texts is also discussed. A further explanation on the features of Yuan Wu Ya’s version that differentiate itself from Rong Yu Tang’s version is displayed. Chapter five analyzes the relevance between character imagery in Chen Hong Tuan’s block print Water Margin Leaves and the character imagery in the text of Water Margin. The rationale in Rong Yu Tang’s Mr. Li Zhuwu Criticized the Water Margin serves as reference in the analysis. Chapter six provides an overview of the theory. Based on the analyses in previous chapters, the researcher demonstrates the mutual interpretation between illustrations and the novel itself. Findings about the advantages, disadvantages, and correspondence of illustrations and text are also exhibited.
