Resumen
This article examines the predictors of overall congregational vitality in the United Church of Christ (UCC), a US mainline Protestant denomination of approximately 5,000 churches and 800,000 members. This analysis is based on data from the UCC version of the Faith Communities Today survey, which surveyed all UCC congregations in early 2020. An overall congregational vitality scale was created from survey questions; factors associated with congregational vitality were tested to see which ones had a statistically significant relationship with a congregation's level of overall vitality. Aspects of congregations that were significantly associated with overall congregational vitality included the fit between the pastor and congregation, innovative worship, racial diversity, and total number of participants, while the percentage of young adults, contemporary worship, founding year of congregation, percentage change in worship attendance over the past five years, current financial health of congregation, and percentage of female participants did not influence overall congregational vitality. This research may be useful for congregations seeking to maintain or increase their vitality and for researchers interested in identifying the components and predictors of congregational vitality.

Resumen
In the context of religious education, the effectiveness of sermons can be measured by how well the congregation can understand, remember, and apply the teachings delivered. Aspects such as the quality of delivery, the use of easy-to-understand language, the relevance of the topic to the congregation's life, and the frequency of attendance at services can be important factors that influence learning outcomes. This study explores the influence of Sermon Quality and Frequency of Congregation Attendance on Congregation Understanding and Knowledge in Tanah Toraja churches. Using the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method, this model testing was carried out to see the value of R Square, Q2, Model Fit, and the test of influence between variables, this study analyzed data obtained from a sample of 144 congregations selected purposively. The results showed that both sermon quality and frequency of attendance had a significant influence on increasing congregational understanding and knowledge, with sermon quality having a more dominant influence. These findings underscore the importance of high-quality sermon delivery and consistent congregational attendance to support a deeper understanding of religion. Based on these results, it is recommended that churches improve training for preachers and create an environment that encourages regular congregational attendance, in order to strengthen their religious knowledge and understanding.

overcome the congregation's limitations in reading musical notation, which often hinders the harmony and beauty of music in worship. This training aims to improve the ability of congregations, worship leaders and musicians to understand and apply musical notation correctly. The methods used include demonstrations and questions and answers, which help the congregation be more active in absorbing the theory and practice of ecclesiastical music. As a result, this training has had a significant positive impact on the quality of music services. The congregation is not only more synchronized in singing praise songs, but also better able to appreciate the spiritual meaning of each song sung. In addition, the ability to read notation opens up opportunities for the congregation to explore more creative and varied arrangements, enriching the worship atmosphere musically and spiritually. In conclusion, this training contributed to improving the quality of church music, strengthening congregational togetherness, and deepening their spiritual experience in worship. This initiative also supports higher education institutions' efforts to implement Tri Dharma, especially in the field of community service.

Resumen
This case study reflects the congregational practices of members and staff within a congregation in the southwest of the United States which self-identifies as a congregation within the Christian tradition. The congregation has completed processes and procedures that resulted in the congregation self-identifying as a welcoming and affirming congregation to all people. A Master of Social Work intern was embedded for an academic year, as her field internship experience, in the congregation as part of the ministerial staff. The intern examined congregational and denominational processes that included difficult conversations, daily practices, and decisions with specific reference to LGBTQI+ issues as part of a national research study of Christian congregations determining inclusivity in their membership, governance, and leadership functions. The case study included participant-observation by the intern of the lived experiences of church leadership and members as a result of these conversations and decisions specific to the practices of a congregation with membership of approximately 700 people. Findings included a decision for affirmation and inclusion that resulted in the congregation being discharged from the denomination. There was significant impact on the ministry including the loss of membership and finances. Additionally, ministries of inclusion are enhanced as formerly marginalized populations are now central to the congregation.

Resumen
In every order or monastic congregation a group of ‘favourite’ saints can be selected. The reasons differ. Most often the foremost place goes to the congregation’s founder or founders. It should be emphasized that in a number of orders, monastic congregations, monasteries, or abbeys the cult is given to benefactors and founders not formally canonized by the Church. The other group of saints venerated with a particular cult in congregations are those recognised as patrons or protectors of their congregations and saints and beatified coming from the ranks of their order. In the history of the Congregation o f the Sisters o f Saint Felix o f Cantalice Third Order Regular o f Saint Francis o f Assisi we can clearly see the care of the cult of a number of saints and beatified who in a distinctive way affected the Congregation’s spirituality and activity. First the founders of the Congregation, Blessed Honorat Koźmiński (1826-1916) and Blessed Mother Angela Truszkowska (1825— 1899), should be mentioned. From the beginning of its existence the Congregation was deeply rooted in Franciscan spirituality. The Congregation was established after approval by sisters of the Tertiary Order of Saint Francis of Assisi. It should not come as a surprise that in monasteries of the Felician Sisters the cult of Saint Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) and also of Saint Clare (1194-1253) was cherished with great popularity. The Saint to whom the Felician Sisters owe their name is Saint Felix of Cantalice (1515-1587), while in a special way the Congregation was entrusted to the care of Saint Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Resumen
Singing is an important element of congregational worship. Singing with the right meaning and appreciation has an impact on the development of the people. A song must be based on the local context of the congregation. Herein lies the importance of contextualizing congregational singing. One form of song contextualization is by using ethnic songs in congregational worship. Ethnic songs describe the congregation's local characteristics and are the congregation's identity. Using a qualitative research method, this study aims to find the form of ethnic songs that can be sung in the worship of the GPM Adodo Fordata congregation. In addition, this research also uses the juxtaposition method to juxtapose two forms of singing, namely, psalms and foruk. This research data was obtained from participant observations when the author was the Chairman of the Congregation Assembly for 6 years and interviews with cultural experts in Tanimbar. This research proves that as a form of contextual singing, foruk can be sung as psalms in congregational worship. The application of foruk as psalms is able to help people to live and interpret worship.

The GPP Maranatha congregation is a congregation that has a majority of farmers. At this time, many congregations are experiencing difficulties in managing congregational businesses, especially in the agricultural sector, many congregations are having difficulty getting fertilizer. According to the author's observations, this is due to the increasing price of fertilizer, in this case the church needs to pay attention to the congregation. The method used by researchers is a qualitative descriptive approach. The research implementation uses procedures that produce descriptive data in the form of written and spoken words from people whose behavior can be observed through interviews or observations using a qualitative approach. This research aims to determine congregation growth efforts through evangelism models and entrepreneurship strategies in holistic services at the Maranatha Fellowship Protestant Church (GPP). From the results of the research, it can be seen that the efforts that must be made by the church to help increase the growth of the congregation both spiritually and physically are: providing assistance to the congregation such as: the church re-holding Communion that was previously held by the congregation at the Maranatha Fellowship Protestant Church (GPP), The church made visits to the congregation and the church provided training in making liquid fertilizer and provided livestock business. Resumen
The Black church in the United States has historically functioned as a bastion for civil rights; however, it may also be a source of pain and suffering for sexual minorities. To examine the influence of individual and congregational variables on attitudes toward same-sex sexuality in the Black church, we collected a sample of 219 participants from 15 randomly selected congregations. Results of three hierarchical linear models indicated that congregation- and individual-level variables emerged as equally important predictors of individuals’ attitudes toward same-sex sexuality. Individual-level religiousness and congregation-level education emerged as significant predictors of homonegativity. Our results suggest that congregations may play a role in enacting homonegative attitudes. We encourage counseling psychologists working with religious Black sexual minority clients to help clients consider characteristics of congregations (e.g., education) and individual religious practices (e.g., overzealous service attendance) that may signal homonegativity. We encourage further work examining the influence of congregational factors on congregants’ attitudes.

Resumen
This essay argues that good preaching is contextual, bound to and arising from the ongoing life of a particular congregation. The nature of congregational preaching is examined, and tasks by which preaching is contextualized are considered. Contextual preaching utilizes the language of a congregation's local culture. It applies the truth of Scripture to the particular issues resident in a congregation's life. It combines gentleness and nurture. All of this is enabled by the preacher sharing deeply the life of the congregation, its joys and its sorrows, enabling these realities and the Scriptural witness to be mutually interpreting.

Resumen
This introduction begins with the congregation assembly at the church in service which is expected to be an effort to develop the growth of faith of congregation members at the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa (GMIM) Gethsemane Maumbi Congregation, Eris District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. The aim of this research is to determine the assistance strategy for the congregation in strengthening the faith of the congregation. This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach as the research methodology. Interviews are used for data collection, and reduction, display, and verification are used for data analysis. The consequences of this examination show that faith growth is a successful strategy for developing congregational trust and faith growth. Conversations with the pastor, with the congregation, and assistance during difficult times are examples of pastoral care. The growth of the congregation's faith should be seen from the members of the congregation who were initially neither dynamic nor harmonious in worship, becoming determined to provide praise and worship in witnessing, fellowshipping and serving the church for God.

Resumen
The apostle Paul in most of his epistles wrote about teaching, nurturing or pastoralizing to members of the church in order to live as follows the will of God. It shows that in the time of the New Testament the apostles and other servants of God in building the congregation not only emphasized on the issue of numbers but also aggravated the problem of the quality of life of the congregation itself. This study aims to determine the perception of the congregational assembly in improving the quality of Christian family fellowship. This study was conducted at the evangelical christian church (GKI) klasis Sentani congregation Hermon Hollo Him Papua, using a qualitative method through the distribution of questionnaires to the congregational assembly. The results showed that the congregational assembly understood that teaching and guiding church members is an important task mandated (100%), must be done wholeheartedly (83%), and always guided by the Bible (61%). However, sometimes in its teaching the Congregational Assembly felt less certain that they were accepted by members of the congregation (61%), this was likely due to the congregation's lack of preparation and knowledge of how to properly teach and guide christian families (56%). The quality of christian family fellowship is judged by two things, namely having biblical knowledge of the christian family and having the example of Christ. Members of the congregation place Christ as the head of the family (100%), also knowing the basis for the formation of a christian family, even if they do not understand very well how to form a quality christian family fellowship (67%). The attitude shown in Christ's example is to make the Bible a guide for life (56%), active in participating in worship (39%%), active in spiritual activities (44%) and always having an attitude of mutual love for others (44%). Based on these results, it can be concluded that aspects of teaching and guidance for members of the congregation have been carried out by the congregational assembly, but still require good guidance for members of the congregation, especially the congregational assembly as the leader of the church so that the quality of christian family fellowship occurs better.

Resumen
Some congregation members consider church service the responsibility of the Pastor, the Congregation Council, the Working Board of the Congregation Council, the Church Holidays Committee, or specific groups due to a lack of understanding and awareness of the concept and importance of service unity. Through community service activities at the GKI Syalom Siba Congregation, Sentani, lecturers from the Theology Department of STAKPN Sentani showed dedication to answering the congregation's needs. As a foundation for the spiritual development of the GKI Syalom Siba congregation, Sentani, this community service activity aims to enlighten the congregation on the importance of service unity. The community service activities were conducted using a lecture and question-and-answer format. The congregation of GKI Syalom Siba participated actively and enthusiastically during the activity. The lecture and question-and-answer methods were effective, and the delivery of simple and easy-to-understand materials contributed to the success of this community service activity. Thus, within the framework of congregational unity at GKI Syalom Siba, Sentani, this activity not only increases the intellectual acumen of the congregation but also becomes the basis for its spiritual development. The community service activities not only enrich the knowledge of the congregation but also provide a solid foundation for the spiritual growth of the Pastor, the Elemental Management Board, and the Congregation, totalling fifty people in the context of the unity of ministry at the GKI Syalom Siba Congregation, Sentani.

Resumen
The term "pastor" is popular in Christianity in general and the church in particular. In general, this term refers to someone who has the status of a priest. There are also differences in the understanding of this term among priests. Some agree more with the mention of pastors and there are also congregational pastors. The researcher wants to take the perception of pastors in the Pentecostal Church in Indonesia, the Kesamben congregation regarding "the pastor of the congregation". The aim is to gain knowledge about the perceptions of the priests on the subject. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The descriptive method is a research method that is used to describe problems that occur in the present or are ongoing, aiming to describe what should have happened when the research was carried out (Nana Sudjana and Ibrahim, 1989:64). From the results of the research it was found that the congregational pastor is someone who is chosen by God and is called to lead God's people through assignments to local church organizations. A pastor has great duties and responsibilities, namely always being close to the congregation, providing spiritual food, and helping them. The pastor must also always pray for the congregation, forbid the word of God and set an example at all times. Pastors also have to look for lost congregations or leave worship hours. Directing those who are lost on the right path, counseling troubled congregations, and also being able to be a good friend to get to know the congregation more closely. The pastor of the church also faces big challenges because of the requirements of the congregation with its multiple problems. Researchers also found ways to carry out shepherding duties, starting from establishing a vision and mission, creating a work program, recruiting support staff, and visiting and praying at any time.

Resumen
This study reports the results of a survey of forty-four Lutheran Churches in the New York metropolitan area. It describes present and projected services and programs churches offer to the elderly, specifically investigating the impact of changing age strata upon congregations. A significant relationship was found between proportion of the elderly within the congregation and the pastors' interest in developing specialized ministries to the elderly. There was also a significant relationship between the proportion of the elderly within the congregation and the pastors' interest in structural modifications of the church building. However, no significant differences were found between the proportion of elderly with the congregation and the actual programs and services to the elderly. This may be an indication that churches with high proportions of the elderly had less financial and congregational resources.

GKI Gresik, which is experiencing a decrease in the number of church attendance visits for worship. After the Covid-19 pandemic changed individual behavior in carrying out onsite activities. Currently, several congregations are switching their worship activities online. So it also affects the attendance of the congregation to carry out activities or worship at the church. In 2021 there will be a slight increase because he will be allowed to return to worship in person. The authors used qualitative field research and analytical description methods in this study. In collecting data, the researcher used a questionnaire to six sample congregations who were consumers of the services provided by the church. Improving services to congregations and sympathizers in the realm of management knowledge is included in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) theory. People, processes, and technology can influence customer satisfaction (congregation). Of course, at this time, it is very appropriate if the church can adopt it to maintain and even increase the congregation's commitment.

Sumba Christian Church (GKS) Jemaat Papindung which is one of the churches in Pandawai District, Mauliru Village, East Sumba Regency, which was established on September 07, 2009, which at that time was still a branch of GKS Mauliru, which was later divided in 2021, becoming GKS Papindung until now. The Sumba Christian Church (GKS) Papindung congregation faces obstacles in the congregation data management system, which was previously recorded manually using the congregation's master book. The loss of the congregation data book in 2021 caused difficulties in re-recording, given the large number of congregants, namely 490 people. The main problems faced are difficulties in searching and grouping data, inconsistency in recording, and the risk of data loss or damage. This research aims to design and develop a web-based congregation data management information system to improve the efficiency and accuracy of data recording. This system was developed using the Waterfall method with PHP, MySQL, and HTML technologies. Testing is done using the Black Box method to ensure the accuracy of system functionality. The test results show that this system can assist the church secretary in managing congregational data more effectively, as well as facilitate the pastor in viewing and exporting congregational data as needed.

Resumen
During the COVID-19 pandemic, worship activities at the Church were limited. The lack of preparation and data collection on the congregations who visit to worship regularly every week increases the risk of transmission. It needs to be minimized and anticipated. One effort that can be made to reduce this risk is to collect data on the health condition of the congregation who will attend worship. The data collection process is recorded in writing on the attendance list. This requires an iterative approach to be updated and creates a build-up to the attendance record. In addition, media information about the BNKP Pewarta Church activities is not yet available. To overcome this problem, a congregational data collection information system is needed to store congregation data and provide general information about the BNKP Pewarta Church. In designing this Congregation Data Collection Information System, the design method used is the Web Development Life Cycle (WDLC). This information system website design can store Church congregation data and present general Church information.

Resumen
Transnational congregations are ambiguous and complex social spaces as they are both divided (notably around the North–South axis) and united (around a same charism, a same founding figure). This article seeks to understand how sisters from Quebec and Central America belonging to the same transnational congregation construct their interpersonal relations, given that they live in a social field marked by both North–South domination and religious sisterhood. Based on two months of fieldwork within the congregation at the Order’s mother house in Quebec and at some of its mission houses in Honduras, it explores this issue through a brief presentation of the history of the congregation and an analysis of the discourses of the sisters interviewed. It concludes that the intra-congregational relationships are rooted in the continuous negotiation between the verticality of North–South domination and the horizontality of sisterhood. In the present context of vocational decline, the congregation faces two options: to decolonize or to remain trapped in contradictions that could stop it from adapting to its new reality.

Resumen
Abstract This article provides a socio-theological study of Molimbu, a local tradition of collective feasting found among the Pamona people in the province of Central Sulawesi in Indonesia. It specifically explores the impact of Molimbu on the Zaitun Dulumai congregation, which is part of the Gereja Kristen Sulawesi Tengah (Central Sulawesi Christian Church, GKST), located in Poso, a city in Central Sulawesi (also known as Celebes), Indonesia. This article explores the manner in which Molimbu contributes to the civil sphere by building harmony within the church. Congregations in this part of Indonesia have been deeply impacted by external Christian values, leadership, and forces that are associated with European missions. But this is not the full story. In the Dulumai congregation, the church is also regulated by the agency of the local tradition called Molimbu. As an ethnic tradition and part of the congregation’s community life, Molimbu becomes a solidarity space connecting every participating individual. The research objective of this article is to describe and analyze Molimbu as a cultural practice that contributes to the civil sphere by building a harmonious congregation at GKST Zaitun Dulumai. The research method used is qualitative and descriptive. The results show that Molimbu contributes significantly to the civil sphere in constructing harmonious Christian congregations by activating sublime values such as equality and respect. Those values foster and nurture harmony within the congregation and are indicated through the traditional Christian concepts of koinonia (fellowship), diakonia (ministry), and maturia (witness).

Benevolence is often a way for the church to engage with the local community, however, churches often struggle with how to do so most effectively. This paper provides a description of five church models from Baptist congregations in Central Texas. This paper will summarize each church’s approach and synthesize the approaches to form recommendations for congregational social work, including roles of the social worker in the congregation and suggestions for how churches might work with social workers to enhance and better articulate policies and practices around benevolence ministries. A highlight of the literature surrounding congregational community ministries will also be included. This article aims to advance the role of social workers in congregations and giving tangible tools for both social work and congregational engagement with benevolence funds.

Resumen
As the subject of leading through the sermon is to a large extent absent in homiletical literature, this article investigates how the sermon can be used as a tool in leading church development processes. The area of research is the Church of Norway and congregations involved in strategic processes of church development are in focus. Normally, it is the minister who preaches in the Church of Norway services and the research question asks what options the ministers have to lead church development through their sermons. The material for analysis is homiletical literature from the last 25 years that combine preaching and leadership. I understand the leadership of ministers as strategic and spiritual leadership. I have found that ministers can lead church development processes through sermons, when they are conscious about the possibilities of sermons to do so, when they see the congregation and not the individual as the target group of preaching, when they place the sermon firmly within the congregation’s life system, when they engage the external context, when they lead the congregation toward shared goals, and when they prioritise the theological dimension of the congregation. The author asks for more research, and especially empirical research investigating to what extent ministers in practice are leading the congregations through their sermons.

The church conducts entrepreneurship for the congregation and the community as one of the fulfillment of cultural mandates. One form of church social service is congregational entrepreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the pandemic has made it difficult for the congregation to meet the needs of daily life. Therefore, the church as an institutionalized individual and community is responsible for carrying out concrete social services through entrepreneurship. This research is a theological response for the church to address the pandemic conditions specifically related to entrepreneurship. This paper uses the literature study method and theological reflection approach. The results of this study are the formation and increase of entrepreneurship managed by congregations and churches in the COVID-19 pandemic area.

By exploring various plans that are prepared as an integral part of the church's pastoral action, through approaches that can improve the economic welfare of the congregation and practical spiritual support from the church. In several sections it can be seen how the church plays an active role in encouraging economic independence which strengthens community life and improves the quality of life of the congregation, and we need to know that the factor that drives congregational independence is the pastoral role in the community service program that has been implemented, so it is necessary for us to understand how step by step the pastoral service strategy is implemented at GMIST Wori Congregation in the "Community Service" (PKM) activity. In general, pastoral care is a fundamental aspect of church life that involves spiritual, emotional and social support for the congregation. A pastoral approach focuses on deep interpersonal relationships, supporting individuals in facing life's challenges, and helping them find meaning and purpose in the context of the Christian faith. What is discussed in the pastoral care program is so interesting, that there are ideas that are formulated related to teaching about economic empowerment, which are often forgotten and rarely discussed, so that this becomes a small part of what causes divisions within the congregation without realizing it. So we will examine how pastoral service can be used to empower the congregation's economy, with the title "Congregation Economic Empowerment Strategy as Church Pastoral Action".

This research aims to develop a web-based information system at the Bethel Indonesia Church (GBI) Juwana to improve the efficiency of delivering information to the congregation, especially for congregants who cannot attend services. In this rapidly developing era, information technology has become an important part of daily life, including in communication between churches and their congregations. Currently, information about church activities is mostly conveyed through direct announcements, so that some congregations miss important information. To overcome this, a web-based information system was created that makes it easy for congregants to access church-related information, such as service schedules, announcements, activity registration, devotionals, and photo galleries. Method. The development method used for this system is the Waterfall Model, which includes stages such as requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The completed system is expected to answer the challenges of church communication, reduce information errors, and increase congregational access. The test results show that all features function properly, both for information management by the admin and for information access by the congregation. With this system, the church is expected to be more effective in disseminating information and increasing congregational engagement, even for those who cannot attend church activities in person.

Resumen
Understanding how the behavior of captive American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) congregations compares to wild congregations is essential to assessing the welfare of alligators in captivity. Wild alligator congregations perform complex social behaviors, but it is unknown if such behaviors occur in captive congregations as frequently. We observed the behaviors of a captive and wild congregation of American alligators in Florida, USA in January 2021. Social behaviors were, on average, 827% more frequent in the wild congregation than the captive, and the wild congregation had a richer repertoire of social behaviors, with growling and HOTA (head oblique tail arched) behaviors being particularly common. High walking, a nonsocial behavior, dominated the behavioral repertoire of the captive congregation (94% of behaviors, excluding feeding) and may be a stereotypy that can be used as an indicator of welfare. Both congregations experienced human disturbance and displayed flushing as a species-specific defense reaction. Captive environments differ from the wild with respect to size, structure, stocking density, resource availability, and human presence. These differences translate into behavioral differences between wild and captive congregations. We identified important behavioral differences between wild and captive alligator congregations that can serve as a platform for more detailed investigations of alligator welfare in captivity.

Resumen
AbstractThe needs in the congregation are not always the same, various congregations have their own characteristics and talents. Even though the needs of the congregation are different, there are fundamental needs in the church that cannot be replaced. The congregation's need for God's Word is absolute and non-negotiable. Fulfilling the need for understanding God's Word will increase faith and hope besides that it needs to be given to the congregation to equip the congregation to have a deeper knowledge of God. Equipping parishioners who feel thirsty for the truth of God's Word will not only make them spiritually mature, but will also make them agents of change in society which will greatly impact the expansion of God's kingdom and in carrying out the Great Commission. The church as a vessel must be a bridge to meet these needs and prepare quality congregations.

This article explores different ways that preachers and congregations have used the sermon-dialogue-sermon process to address social issues in their churches and engage their local community. I begin with a brief review of the homiletic theory behind the emergence of dialogical preaching, including the ways I have integrated this theory into my own method of the sermon-dialogue-sermon (SDS) process. I then explain the work I have performed training preachers and congregations in the SDS method. This article then focuses on the Rev. Dr. Stephanie Moon, a pastor in Kentucky who undertook the SDS process with her congregation, North Middletown Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), in Middletown, Kentucky. Their work allows for a longitudinal case study of the ways in which the SDS process can assist a congregation in engaging and strengthening democratic practices through deliberation and community outreach. The article concludes with a reflection on the implications of this process for a congregation’s engagement with social issues as well as recommendations for further research and analysis.

Resumen
Working at the intersection of ethnographic and missional theology, this essay argues for the central role of fieldwork for discerning missional identity in congregations. Recent developments in ecclesiology and ethnography have clarified the embodied nature of theological knowledge, disclosing the practical wisdom and cultural locatedness of the researcher and congregation. While ethnography has been used to help congregations understand their context and discern a missional vocation, the ongoing theological and formational nature of such practices are often undertheorized in relationship to missional church. Drawing from Robert Jenson’s notion of the Spirit as God’s freedom, liberating God and creature for God’s future, this essay suggests ethnographic fieldwork as a liberative practice for the congregation, freeing it to participate in the boundary-crossing and sensemaking work of missional church. In working with congregations, I’m often greeted by some version of the question: “Are we (meaning, the congregation I’m working with) missional yet?” The question comes loaded with curiosity and concern. What, they ask, is a missional church, and would we know one if we saw it? Even more significant: how will we know when the work we are doing to renew our theological imagination and develop partnerships with our neighbors will pay off? The question comes from a good place, but it also leads into a deceptive trap, for any answer will betray the dynamism that “missional” tries to name (Guder 1998, 3–5). And yet, the question also unveils a theo-practical ambiguity at the heart of the missional church. The problem is not just that missio Dei theology holds together unreconciled tensions between the God-church-world relationship, but that the boundary-crossing practices that shape the missional vocation of a congregation are viewed instrumentally, as a means to a missional end. Congregations, seeking to identify as “missionary by [their] very nature,” and reorient congregational life through practices of missional discernment, can be forgiven for thinking of “missional” as a fixed arrival point (Guder 2015, 9). In what follows, I explore the theological significance of ethnographic practices for missional congregations. A staple of many approaches to missional renewal and missional church plants, church leaders and steering committees regularly employ the basic tools of ethnographic fieldwork to better understand their own community and their context or neighborhood (Croft and Hopkins 2015; Roxburgh 2011). In descriptive terms, these practices equip congregants for deep listening, attentive observation, and disciplined curiosity. They also place congregants in new places and with new people, drawing these experiences into congregational reflection and discernment. While neither professional ethnographers nor academic theologians, congregants are given through these practices new connections to neighbors and offered new vantage points from which to reflect upon the life and ministry of the congregation. As such, they are not simply a means to a missional end, but rather practices that already participate in God’s missional future. Congregational ethnographic fieldwork can cultivate new social realities which glimpse—and perhaps even liberate—the congregation for God’s mission in its particular context.Of course, ethnographic fieldwork is not a theological practice by itself, nor can missional theology be collapsed into ethnography. At stake in this discussion is how otherness is reconciled with the missio Dei, how one envisions the relationship between God and God’s creation, the church and God’s present and coming Reign (see Swart et al. 2009). Drawing from Robert Jenson’s understanding of the Spirit as God’s freedom and God’s future, I suggest a liberative approach to missional church. Rather than a fixed identity or a future telos, the missional church is liberated for God’s mission by and through the neighbor, the stranger, the other in and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The church sent into the world recognizes and receives God’s “preferred and promised future” in the concrete relationships cultivated (Keifert 2006, 16). Ethnography, shaped by this missional intention, becomes an ongoing practice for missional theology, not only a step toward a missional identity.

AbstractThe purpose of writing this article is to find out what strategies are used by the church in growing the congregation's interest in worship. This paper departs from the problems found by the author since serving the congregation in Kalimantan. The seriousness of the congregation in worship so far has been very insignificant, as a result the growth of the congregation's faith has decreased as explained in this article. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method by collecting data through interviews, empirical data, literature such as books and journal articles that can be trusted. The results obtained in this study are that the church must have a discipleship approach strategy, a realizational model and a counseling model. The three methods proposed by this author are very effective and significant in motivating the congregation to see the various problems experienced by the congregation, especially in worshiping in the church. Thus, the strategy used by the church so far needs a breakthrough because this will determine the congregation's interest in worship. This article is a study of how the Amsterdam Sephardi congregation organized its educational system starting in the early 1600s. On 25 May 1616, the two existing congregations at the time, Bet Jacob [House of Jacob] and Neve Salom [Dwellings of Peace], founded the “Hebra Kedosa Talmud Torah” [Holy Confraternity Talmud Torah], an institution that was to fund the education of male children and youth. On that day, the lay congregational leaders elected two interim officers to organize the festivities two days later on Shavuot, the Jewish festival traditionally associated with the initiation of children in the study of the Torah. The newly formed school educated male children as young as five years old and consisted of six grades, starting with the teaching of the Hebrew alphabet, and ending with the Talmud. In 1637, the congregation founded the “Ets Haim” [Tree of Life] confraternity to provide stipends to older, deserving, and talented students, so that they remained in school. A third stage took place in 1639 when the three congregations united into one under the name “Kahal Kadosh Talmud Torah,” and the merged school consisted of seven grades. The author argues that this educational system was a blending of attributes from the Jewish medieval tradition and the Iberian Jesuit system which emphasized the character formation of its students that the lay founders of the Sephardi congregation had experienced while they were living as conversos in Spain or Portugal.

Resumen
A number of congregations at GKSI Yesyurun Senyamuk show a tendency to not be active in worshiping regularly. This phenomenon needs serious attention so that the congregation can once again appreciate and feel the importance of worship in their lives. One of the main causes of inactivity in worship is the busyness of daily life which increasingly dominates the congregation's attention. This busyness is often a reason that is considered valid for not attending church services. Meanwhile, the method used is qualitative based on direct observation of the phenomena that occur at GKSI Yesyurun Senyamuk. Apart from that, guidance was provided on the word of God to the GKSI Yesyurun Senyamuk congregation, explaining "what is the importance of worship?", "which basis of God's word discusses worship?", "what is the correct way to worship?". The findings from this research have resulted in positive changes in the life of the GKSI Yesyurun Senyamuk congregation, such as increasing activeness in worship and changing lifestyles that are more focused on God. This shows that correct worship not only has a spiritual impact, but also socially, strengthening the commitment to live according to God's will.

Resumen
The recitation congregation is a community or group of seekers of religious knowledge by means and methods of recitation that use the wetonan system, namely the congregations come in flocks on certain time. As for their goal, the recitation congregations are the formation of personality in themselves and their families so that they become Muslims who master Islamic teachings and practice them, so that they are beneficial to religion, society and the state. The emergence of the recitation congregation was the creative hand of Sheikh Maulana Malik Ibrahim as the first propagator of Islam in Java. This also shows that the recitation congregation is an educational model that is as old as the entry of Islam in Indonesia. The life of the recitation congregation has gone through a tortuous experience. Various major challenges have been faced through strategic steps so that they are able to survive until now and are recognized as assets as well as development potential. The resilience of the recitation congregation is due to the unique pattern of life, the institutionalization of the recitation congregation in society, the Javanese culture which is able to absorb foreign culture through a process of interiorization without losing its identity. The resilience of this recitation congregation becomes more attractive when compared to similar educational institutions in other countries.

Resumen
In the East Java region, a Christian sect known as the Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan exists. This particular sect incorporates Javanese cultural traditions into its worship rites. However, most religious communities believe they should not merge between culture and spiritual activities, as they consider them distinct and separate components. In this study, the researcher aims to accurately comprehend the significance of Javanese culture in executing worship rituals by the Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan congregation. Integrating Javanese culture into these rituals is believed to enhance the congregation's faith. This study employs a qualitative-anthropological methodology to address the research inquiry by examining objects that have served as conduits to the supernatural, stemming from established societal practices. The researcher gathered data by employing interview procedures with multiple congregations and pastors and through direct observation. This interview ensured that the gained data aligned with the researcher's theory regarding the potential growth in faith resulting from the merger with Javanese culture. This study demonstrates the compatibility and integration of Christianity and Javanese culture without any discernible division. Conversely, the establishment of the Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan provides a refuge for Javanese individuals who wish to maintain their cultural practices during religious ceremonies. This research inferred that the Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan utilises Javanese culture to transmit religious values to the congregation. This strategy ensures that the adherents accept and absorb the teaching easily, enhancing the congregation's faith. Importantly, this spiritual practice recognises the cultural traditions deeply ingrained within the congregation.

Resumen
This study aims to analyze the role of pastoral care through stewardship in the context of the pastor's duties and responsibilities towards the congregation. Stewardship as a pastoral concept can make a significant contribution to the growth of faith and the quality of life of the congregation, as well as strengthening the relationship between the pastor and the congregation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to identify the role of pastors in stewardship. Limitations in measuring the effectiveness of stewardship, especially the long-term impact on the growth of faith and the quality of life of the congregation, are challenges in this study. This study suggests increasing the involvement of the congregation in stewardship through providing an active role, which will help them grow in faith and Christian life. Practical implications that can be applied include the importance of a personal approach in pastoral care, such as more frequent personal meetings between pastors and congregations. The results of the study indicate that pastoral care through stewardship has a positive impact on the growth of faith and the quality of life of the congregation, as well as strengthening the relationship between pastors and congregations and increasing the effectiveness of pastoral care.

Resumen
Life within a congregation has its own dynamics that can be observed in the relationship between congregation members and the pastor. One important aspect to be discussed in this paper is the pastoral care provided by the pastor as the shepherd of the congregation. Pastoral care is one form of service that demonstrates the pastor's concern for the members of the congregation. In pastoral care, the pastor can listen, provide advice, and strengthen the faith of congregation members through visits, conversations, and prayer. Although time for preaching is limited, pastoral care has its own power to strengthen the hearts of congregation members. However, unfortunately, the importance of pastoral care is no longer clearly evident in some congregations, where some pastors no longer engage in pastoral care as they should.

Resumen
In an era of disruption, the church needs to adapt to rapid social, technological and economic changes, the church as a religious institution also needs to adapt to face these challenges. One important aspect that needs to be considered is the congregation's economy. A strong and sustainable economy can provide support for church activities and the surrounding community. This research aims to identify effective church strategies in improving the congregation's economy in an era of disruption. Through a literature study approach and case studies of successful churches, several strategies were found that could be implemented: First, churches need to increase the congregation's skills and knowledge in facing economic changes. Second, churches need to utilize information and communication technology to support the congregation's economy. Third, the church can encourage entrepreneurship among the congregation. Support can be provided through providing co-working spaces in churches or establishing business incubators to help congregation members who want to start their own business. Churches can also facilitate business collaborations between congregations who have complementary skills and interests. Four, churches need to develop strategic partnerships with external parties, such as non-profit organizations, financial institutions, or private companies that have visions and values that are in line with the church. but must be based on the ethical and moral principles taught by religion.
