This article looks at the trends and success of the sustainable construction industries in the EU member states, the UK and Norway. The research, covering the past three decades, revealed that different quality of life, macroeconomic, human development, construction and well-being factors define the sustainable construction industries in the EU member states, the UK and Norway. A multiple criteria decision matrix was created and analysed to look at the EU member countries, the UK and Norway from the perspective of their macro level environment and construction industries. In modern construction industry, fabrication of sustainable concrete has turned the decision-making process into a challenging endeavor. One alternative is using fly ash and nanostructured silica as cement replacements. In these modern mixtures, proper concrete bulk density, percentage of voids, and compressive strength normally cannot be optimized individually. Hereby, a decision-making strategy on the replacement of those components is presented while taking into account those three performance measurements. The relationships among those components upon concrete fabrication required a design

Resumen
The decision making process for shipbreaking is complicated and is dependent on multiple factors. However, due to the vastly unorganized nature of shipbreaking industry in major shipbreaking locations, there is little work done to the best of the authors' knowledge, wherein these factors are mapped, weighed and integrated in the form of a comprehensive decision making framework. In recent years, although there have been significant efforts by researchers to capture the process of shipbreaking and recycling in literature, a comprehensive decision support system that encapsulates the multiple criteria for shipbreaking in a quantifiable form, is yet to be developed. This paper attempts to bridge this gap, by formulating a decision making framework, particularly for selecting the shipbreaking facility and the extent of recycling subsequent to ship disassembly, using AHP methodology. The framework considers the relevant factors, and is useful not only for shipping companies and cash brokers for decision making, but also provides insights vis-à-vis the migrating pattern of shipbreaking industry, particularly from Indian subcontinent to China, as observed in the contemporary business environment.

Resumen
The construction industry is regarded as a major contributor to environmental emissions, due to extensive usage of resources and the waste products produced. This article presents a building information modeling (BIM)-based model that is capable of measuring six types of emissions for different activities of construction projects. The paper investigates eight multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques for ranking alternatives based on project time; project life cycle cost; project environmental impact; and primary energy consumed by different activities. Three group decision- making techniques are performed to provide consensus and final ranking of alternatives. The Monte Carlo simulation is implemented in order to account for the discrepancy in the calculation of greenhouse gases produced from buildings. Also, a case study of academic buildings is introduced in order to demonstrate the practical features of the proposed model.

This chapter aims to analyze the financial and economic effects on green supply chain management of the food and beverages industry. For the research purpose, the fuzzy DEMATEL and fuzzy MOORA methods are used for the integrated model construction. The main stages of the green supply chain are considered as the dimensions and the selected performance measures are listed as a set of criteria for each dimension. Accordingly, 21 food and beverage companies listed in Istanbul Stock Exchange (BIST) are employed to measure the performance of green supply chain processes. It is concluded that low pollution is the most important criterion whereas alternatives has the least weight. Reverse logistic is also second most significant criterion which means that these companies give importance to reduce their costs. It is also found out that there is not a certain correlation between green supply chain management performances with the profitability of the firms. However, it can be seen that bigger firms have higher green supply chain management performance than the smaller firms.

Resumen
The Fourth Industrial Revolution requires today's companies to bring the physical and digital world together to achieve a higher efficiency and gain competitive advantage. This transformation can be made possible using advanced technologies which has interdependencies on one another and their implementation can be best achieved using project management principles. Agile principles (e.g. multiple iterations, stakeholder involvement) play an important role in executing this transformation. In this study, the authors first defined the processes and technologies required in the Industry 4.0 transition. Since the projects related to different technologies may require the prioritization of project management dimensions to cope with complexity and uncertainty, agile project management criteria are specified to prioritize them adopting a multi-criteria decision-making approach, namely the Analytical Network Process. Using the results obtained, suggestions for the creation of a framework to manage the Industry 4.0 transformation in an agile manner were presented.

Resumen
The paradigm shift towards waste reduction in the construction industry has produced revolutionary techniques in assessing and mitigating waste during the construction lifecycle. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology presents potentials in real-time construction waste management for informed decision-making processes for site managers. Due to the dynamic and complex construction work environment, material and equipment, labour and management policies are subjected to latent and identified hazards. Therefore, this chapter focuses on the real time impact of construction waste. UAV technology was adopted. UAV flight mission and deployment time were designed to meet target requirements and snapshot checklist. Data images were captured from an 11-storey residential building and analysed for conformity to construction waste and safety requirements. The prevalence of exposed material and equipment, low labour awareness, and need for policy shift to circular economy was predominant. Further studies can explore multiple construction monitoring and other category of construction works.

Resumen
Currently, under Alberta’s Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and regulations, all pipelines transporting natural gas with an index of 2690 or greater require an approval (Conservation and Reclamation Approval) for the conservation and reclamation activities associated with construction and reclamation of a pipeline. Administratively, Alberta Environmental Protection considers a pipeline requiring an Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act approval as a “Class 1” pipeline. The index is a calculation of length of pipe (in kilometers) multiplied by the outside pipe diameter (in mi

Resumen
This paper endeavors to measure the consistency of a decision-making tool, popularly known as Best Worst Method (BWM), which is one of the latest developments in multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). BWM is finding a vast arra of applications in the literature. Several investigators have extended this tool. BWM measures the weight of decision-making criterion and is recognized as a subjective decision tool. The first step in this method is to find the best and worst criterion, while we suppose several experts are asked to present their evaluation over set of criteria. The aim is to measu

System analysis is a key research document in the decision-making function related to the construction of small renewable energy sources in a given area. The problem must be viewed with multiple aces. When it comes to opportunities, it is crucial to analyze energy potentials, investment opportunities and economic effects. The issue of restrictions should be viewed from the aspect of environmental protection, other security risks and the aspect of long-term energy policy of legal regulations. A special segment of the analysis should be the analysis of domestic knowledge for the successful manag

Although the government admit the benefit of construction of a nuclear facility for national electric source, related policy could be developed and carried out only if the public, especially who have some stake on it, recognize the benefit and accept the policy. For public participation, Korea has a system of public-hearing in accordance with the law. Because of the absence of the detailed way for public opinion aggregation and for the reflection of the aggregated opinion, Korean public-hearing system is only a conceptual model. Therefore, some specific system for Korean Public-Hearing should

Resumen
An interesting, potentially useful, and fully replicable application of a spatially enabled decision model is presented for pipeline route optimization. This paper models the pipeline route optimization problem as a function of engineering and environmental design criteria. The engineering requirements mostly deal with capital, operational and maintenance costs, whereas environmental considerations ensure preservation of nature, natural resources and social integration. Typically, pipelines are routed in straight lines, to the extent possible, to minimize the capital construction costs. In con
