Resumen
One of the main observed gains of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) is the ability to compose new services to achieve high level functionalities. Thus, it is necessary to organize services in a manner to achieve this goal automatically and easily. Furthermore, the emergence of wireless technologies and intelligent mobile devices has enabled the creation of a new kind of services called context-aware composite services. With such services, context plays a great role in their design and development process in order to produce the most appropriate response. In this paper, the authors aim to present their Context-Aware Composite Service (CACS) metamodel for design and development of these services, and, a dedicated tool called MA2C (A Mediator Architecture for Context-aware Composition) responsible of their dynamic generation and execution.

Resumen
This article proposes a formal specification method for Web services composition based on context-aware semantic planning graph technique. The authors first use a graph planning technique to conceive an adaptable semantic Web services composition. They use an ontology based context model for extending Web services descriptions with information about the most suitable context for its use. Then, the composition problem is transformed into a semantic context aware graph planning problem to build a set of best-composed Web services based on the user's context. Because of the error-prone nature of the Web services composition process, and with the integration of context information in this process, the complexity of Web services-based systems is increasing, hence the need for formal specification and verification approaches of such systems. The authors seek to use CCA calculus, to formalize Web services composition expressed in terms of adaptable OWL-S, and transform the description of workflow patterns into the description patterns in terms of CCA, a calculus for context-aware ambients.

Resumen
For the problem of mobile service selection, this paper gives a context-aware service selection algorithm based on Genetic Algorithm. In this algorithm, a tree encoding method, a fitness function, and a fitness-better strategy were proposed. The tree encoding mode made Genetic Algorithm support selection of various types of service combinations, for example, sequence composition, concurrence composition, probability composition, and loop composition. According to the encoding method, a fitness function was designed specially. The fitness-better strategy gives the direction of population evolution and avoids the degradation of population fitness. Some experiments analyses show that the provided service selection algorithm can get better service composition.

Resumen
Abstract. Land cover change (LCC) detection is widely used in many social-benefit areas, such as land cover updating, sustainable development and geographical situation monitoring. With the development of Web Services and cloud computing, a number of remote sensed algorithms and models have been published as web services. An on-demand service is urgent to be generated by compositing a sequence of atomic services, according to different situations. Context information plays an important role in automatic service composition. Traditional context information models mainly focus on service only, and ignore the relationships among users and services. To address this problem, we introduce the service context and user context into the context information. OWL-SC and OWL-UC are then proposed by extending the traditional service description model (i.e., OWL-S). Finally, a context-aware on-demand service model for LCC detection is built to realize service composition and optimization.

Resumen
Deciding on Web service equivalence in process-aware service compositions is a crucial challenge throughout the composition life cycle. However, restricting such decisions to (activity) label equivalence is not sufficient for many practical applications: if two activities and Web services respectively have equivalent labels, does this necessarily mean they are equivalent as well? In many scenarios (e.g., evolution of a composition schema or mining of completed composition instances), other factors also play an important role. Examples include context information (e.g., input and output messages) and information on the position of Web services within compositions. In this paper, the authors introduce the whole composition life cycle and discuss specific requirements for Web service equivalence along its different phases. The authors define adequate equivalence notions for the design, execution, analysis, and evolution of service compositions. This paper focuses on attribute and position equivalence and contributes a new understanding and treatment of equivalence notions in service compositions.

Resumen
Extracting valuable knowledge from Electronic Health Records (EHR) represents a challenging task due to the presence of both structured and unstructured data, including codified fields, images and test results. Narrative text in particular contains a variety of notes which are diverse in language and detail, as well as being full of ad hoc terminology, including acronyms and jargon, which is especially challenging in non-English EHR, where there is a dearth of annotated corpora or trained case sets. This paper proposes an approach for NER and concept attribute labeling for EHR that takes into consideration the contextual words around the entity of interest to determine its sense. The approach proposes a composition method of three different NER methods, together with the analysis of the context (neighboring words) using an ensemble classification model. This contributes to disambiguate NER, as well as labeling the concept as confirmed, negated, speculative, pending or antecedent. Results show an improvement of the recall and a limited impact on precision for the NER process.

Resumen
Service function chaining (SFC) is a mechanism that allows service providers to combine various service functions and exploit the available virtual infrastructure. The best selection of virtual services in the network is essential for meeting user requirements and constraints. This paper proposes a novel approach to generate the optimal composition of the service functions. To this end, a genetic algorithm based on context-free grammar (CFG) that adheres to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard and Skyline was developed to use in SFC. The IETF uses cases of the data center, security, and mobile network filtered out the invalid service chains, which resulted in reduced search space. The proposed genetic algorithm found the Skyline service chain instance with the highest quality. The genetic operations were defined to ensure that the service function chains generated in the algorithm process were standard. The experimental results showed that the proposed service composition method outperformed the other methods regarding the quality of service (QoS), running time, and time complexity metrics. Ultimately, the proposed CFG could be generalized to other SFC use cases.

Resumen
Service composition in an important facet in service oriented architecture, it’s about the idea of assembling atomic services to satisfy a demand rather than building new applications from ‘scratch’, From the user’s perspective it’s a complex task due to the increasing number of services in the web and their heterogeneity. This complexity is increasing in the internet of Things era wehere computing devices are everywhere. In this work we propose an approach for composition of context aware services in a semantic manner, Artificial Intelligence planning is used to automate the composition starting from a defined objectif containing user request and context parameters. Service are described by extending OWL-S with contextual conditions. The proposed architecture was evaluated through an e-health scenario where chronic patients can benefit from a remote and automated medical supervision and emergency handling.

Resumen
Instant sharing of user-generated video recordings has become a widely used service on platforms such as YouNow, Facebook.Live or uStream. Yet, providing such services with a high QoE for viewers is still challenging, given that mobile upload speed and capacities are limited, and the recording quality on mobile devices greatly depends on the users’ capabilities. One proposed solution to address these issues is video composition. It allows to switch between multiple recorded video streams, selecting the best source at any given time, for composing a live video with a better overall quality for the viewers. Previous approaches have required an in-depth visual analysis of the video streams, which usually limited the scalability of these systems. In contrast, our work allows the stream selection to be realized solely on context information, based on video- and service-quality aspects from sensor and network measurements. The implemented monitoring service for a context-aware upload of video streams is evaluated in different network conditions, with diverse user behavior, including camera shaking and user mobility. We have evaluated the system’s performance based on two studies. First, in a user study, we show that a higher efficiency for the video upload as well as a better QoE for viewers can be achieved when using our proposed system. Second, by examining the overall delay for the switching between streams based on sensor readings, we show that a composition view change can efficiently be achieved in approximately four seconds.

Resumen
The birth of electroacoustic music is associated with an era of creativity which is now firmly embedded in the past. As the years advance so the opportunities for evaluating the pioneering years of the medium become increasingly remote. Few can now claim first-hand experience of working with the technologies that shaped and influenced the evolution of the early repertory, and many commentators are content to see them consigned to the museum. Others are less sure, having become aware of a number of features that appear to have no parallels in the modern all-digital domain. This article is predicated on the proposition that the functional characteristics of the equipment available during the formative years materially influenced the ways in which composers developed their compositional aesthetic. By studying the characteristics of the resulting interactions, important clues emerge as to the true nature of this engagement. Central to this study is the nature of the techné involved in these processes of creativity, and the significance of this is evaluated in the context of establishing a case for further research in this area. Particular attention is paid to the role of the tape recorder in this context, in particular its influence on the development of spatialisation techniques.

Resumen
Process management technology constitutes a crucial component of service-oriented environments as it facilitates the composition of services at design time and their orchestration at run time. In this context, high flexibility is required as business functions must be quickly adaptable to cope with dynamic changes in the business. The tremendous proliferation of smart mobile devices over the last years has fostered their prevalence in knowledge-intensive areas. As a result, it is frequently demanded to enhance process-aware information systems with mobile activity support. The latter constitutes process activities (i.e., single process steps) to be executed on smart mobile devices. In general, the technical integration of this activity type with existing process management technology is challenging. If a mobile context shall be additionally considered when executing the activities, the integration gets even more complex. However, the use of such a mobile context offers several advantages. For example, (mobile) activity execution time can be significantly decreased if mobile activities are only assigned to those users whose location is close to the one of the mobile activity. Existing research approaches mainly focus on the partitioning of processes and the distributed execution of the resulting fragments on smart mobile devices. Opposed to this fragmentation concept, this paper proposes an approach to enable the robust and flexible execution of single process activities on smart mobile devices.

Resumen
Hybrid services use different protocols on various networks, such as WIFI networks, Bluetooth networks, 5G communications systems, and wireless sensor networks. Hybrid service compositions can be varied, representing an effective method of integrating into wireless scenarios context-aware applications that can sense mobility via changes in user location and combining services to support target functions. In this article, improved particle swarm optimization is introduced into the quality service evaluation of dynamic service composition to meet the mobility requirements of hybrid networks. First, this work classifies hybrid services into different task groups to generate candidate sets and then interface matching is used to compare the operations of candidate services with user requirements to select the appropriate services. Second, the service composition is determined by the particle swarm optimization simulation process, which aims to identify an optimal plan based on the calculated value from quality of service. Third, considering a change of service repository, when the quality of a composite service is lower than a predefined threshold, the local greedy algorithm and global reconfiguration method are adopted to dynamically restructure composite services. Finally, a set of experiments is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for determining the dynamic service composition, particularly when the scale of hybrid services is large. The method provides a technical reference for engineering practice that will fulfill mobile computing needs.

Resumen
This small scale ethnographic study explores the L2 English academic writing identity negotiation of three Chinese students within the context of an introductory composition course at a U.S. Midwestern university focused on the needs of international students. Through individual interviews and classroom observations, it was investigated whether participants’ previous language learning experiences and current language ideologies play a significant role in their attitudes towards acquiring L2 academic literacy skills in English. Another point of interest was how these students shape their ‘imagined communities’ in respect to second language writing and whether they experience any kind of ‘inferiority of identity’. Resultsconcluded that students were implicitly and explicitly aware of English as a dominant discourse and were able to describe specific stylistic differences between Chinese and English argumentative writing that seemed to have some effect on their conscious development of thought patterns in organizing writing assignments in a given socio‐‐‐cultural setting. Further notice of how L2 students accommodate or resist English academic writing conventions and how they may self‐‐‐marginalize their own L1 merits greater attention.

Resumen
Security and privacy (SP)-related challenges constitute a significant barrier to the wider adoption of Internet of Things (IoT)/Industrial IoT (IIoT) devices and the associated novel applications and services. In this context, patterns, which are constructs encoding re-usable solutions to common problems and building blocks to architectures, can be an asset in alleviating said barrier. More specifically, patterns can be used to encode dependencies between SP properties of individual smart objects and corresponding properties of orchestrations (compositions) involving them, facilitating the design of IoT solutions that are secure and privacy-aware by design. Motivated by the above, this work presents a survey and taxonomy of SP patterns towards the creation of a usable pattern collection. The aim is to enable decomposition of higher-level properties to more specific ones, matching them to relevant patterns, while also creating a comprehensive overview of security- and privacy-related properties and sub-properties that are of interest in IoT/IIoT environments. To this end, the identified patterns are organized using a hierarchical taxonomy that allows their classification based on provided property, context, and generality, while also showing the relationships between them. The two high-level properties, Security and Privacy, are decomposed to a first layer of lower-level sub-properties such as confidentiality and anonymity. The lower layers of the taxonomy, then, include implementation-level enablers. The coverage that these patterns offer in terms of the considered properties, data states (data in transit, at rest, and in process), and platform connectivity cases (within the same IoT platform and across different IoT platforms) is also highlighted. Furthermore, pointers to extensions of the pattern collection to include additional patterns and properties, including Dependability and Interoperability, are given. Finally, to showcase the use of the presented pattern collection, a practical application is detailed, involving the pattern-driven composition of IoT/IIoT orchestrations with SP property guarantees.

Resumen
In recent years, new classes of highly dynamic, complex systems are gaining momentum. These classes include, but are not limited to IoT, smart cities, cyber-physical systems and sensor networks. These systems are characterized by the need to express behaviors driven by external and/or internal changes, i.e. they are reactive and context-aware. A desirable design feature of these systems is the ability of adapting their behavior to environment changes. In this paper, we propose an approach to support adaptive, reactive systems based on semantic runtime representations of their context, enabling the selection of equivalent behaviors, i.e. behaviors that have the same effect on the environment. The context representation and the related knowledge are managed by an engine designed according to a reference architecture and programmable through a declarative definition of sensors and actuators. The knowledge base of sensors and actuators (hosted by an RDF triplestore) is bound to the real world by grounding semantic elements to physical devices via REST APIs. The proposed architecture along with the defined ontology tries to address the main problems of dynamically re-configurable systems by exploiting a declarative, queryable approach to enable runtime reconfiguration with the help of (a) semantics to support discovery in heterogeneous environment, (b) composition logic to define alternative behaviors for variation points, (c) bi-causal connection life-cycle to avoid dangling links with the external environment. The proposal is validated in a case study aimed at designing an edge node for smart buildings dedicated to cultural heritage preservation.

Resumen
Abstract Concepts of ‘centre’ and ‘periphery’ in Renaissance music studies have sometimes been the cause of oversights concerning points of contact and cultural exchange between the musical ‘mainstream’—represented by the northern European and Italian circles—and the Spanish kingdoms. Musicians from the Iberian Peninsula—among them, Francisco de Peñalosa—were well aware of musical developments in the Franco-Netherlandish polyphonic tradition, and incorporated some of these into their Mass composition throughout the 16th century. This article presents a case study of the Rex Virginum composite Mass, with sections by Pedro de Escobar, Francisco de Peñalosa, Pedro Hernández [de Castilleja] and Alonso Pérez de Alba. This Mass is directly connected with the popularity of votive Beata Virgine Maria Masses composed by Franco-Netherlandish and later Spanish composers. In order to shed more light on the significance of this work, the different musical styles of each composer involved in its creation are examined, and the Mass compared with other Beata Virgine Maria models. Through this analysis, the distinct musical contribution of this Mass in the context of European Renaissance music, and its influence on later generations of Spanish composers—especially Francisco Guerrero—are examined.

Resumen
This study examines EFL students’ perceptions of teacher feedback and intra-feedback in writing essays in an EFL university context. Traditionally, teachers who were considered more knowledgeable provided feedback to students' writing. Recently, peer feedback is considered as an alternative form of feedback, which involves a dynamic process of reviewing and discussing one another’s text in a writing class. Intra-feedback, another form of peer feedback, is a reviewer-oriented practice in which two reviewers discuss their comments provided individually on the composition of another student. This paper investigates 21 EFL students’ perceptions of teacher feedback and peer feedback using intra-feedback technique. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected using a questionnaire and follow-up semi-structured interviews. The results of the questionnaire indicated that students perceived teacher feedback to be most useful in improving the content, organization and language of their essays. From the interviews with the students, their preferences toward feedback provider, feedback focus, feedback provision and intrafeedback inclusion were elicited. Some pedagogical implications for the EFL writing instruction can be made including creation of opportunities for students to become aware of effective reviewing techniques, improvement of peer feedback quality and increasing students’ confidence and critical thinking.

Resumen
The "discoursal self', according to Ivanic, is "the impression... they [the students] consciously or unconsciously convey... in a particular written text... . It is constructed through the discourse characteristics of a text, which relate to values, beliefs, and power relations in the social context in which they were written" (25). The "autobiographical self," Ivanic explains, "is the identity which people bring with them to any act of writing" (24). The goal for this paper is an overview investigating whether or not students are aware of a discoursal self-being constructed for them as a result of being students in another academic environment. The author begins by exploring the theoretical concepts of the socially constructed "self', language and how language is used by society to influence the individual. Further, he narrows the focus and reviews the field of literature by Rhetoric and Composition scholars who have explored the issues and impacts of teaching academic discourse to students. If we attempt to understand what the students think and how they perceive the writing, we may be able to better tailor our assignments, methods and approaches to better fit the needs of the students. The findings and results of my thesis may be of benefit to educators and other professionals across the world. The text will also provide a safe, anonymous, respectable outlet for students to voice their opinions and thoughts.
