Resumen
<p> The Feldenkrais Method generates a range of healthful or salutogenic outcomes, yet its contribution to the field of mind-body medicine (MBM) remains largely unexamined. The Feldenkrais Method is a form of somatic education offering both practices and theoretical perspectives for an integrated mind-body approach. Research shows that the Feldenkrais Method produces outcomes on a range of functional, psychophysical, and psychosocial measures. This thesis argues that the Feldenkrais Method is an awareness practice of value for mind-body and integrative approaches to health. </p><p> Possible

Troponin-I (TnI) is one of the three components that makes up the troponin complex, which along with tropomyosin regulates striated muscle contraction. The cardiac isoform of TnI (cTnI) has a ~30 residue N-terminal extension, which contains two serines (Ser22/23) that become phosphorylated by protein kinase A upon \(\beta\)-adrenergic stimulation. However, the function of the N-terminus of cTnI remains unclear. Questions also remain about the function of the C-terminal region of cTnI, although its importance has been demonstrated by mutagenesis and deletion studies. With the use of \(^1\)H nuc

The effect of mechanical forces in the healing of human wounds has been investigated. The study examined the effect of forces acting perpendicular to the plane of skin and parallel to it. The closure force of 17 surgical wounds made in favourable and unfavourable directions was measured and a relationship between the mechanical force acting across a wound and the final scar width became apparent. A technique to alter the local forces acting on a wound during healing was established. We used genetically T-lymphopenic rats as donors to probe the contribution of T-lymphocytes to graft immunogenicity. Graft survival (GS) of lymphopenic donors was significantly increased as compared to normal donors (median (M) = 17 days vs M = 7d, n = 10). To confirm this observation, we reconstituted 7 lymphopenic rats before organ retrieval with $10 sp7-10 sp8$ purified T-lymphocytes. GS was significantly shorter than with lymphopenic donors (M = 7d, n = 7 vs M = 17d, n = 10). Resumen
The commercialisation of natural resources such as medicinal plants is a strategy that is increasingly being employed by poor people in developing countries such as South Africa, as a means of generating an income. Increasing economic hardship and a lack of employment opportunities in the formal sector of the economy has led to many urban dwellers seeking alternative means of meeting their everyday livelihood needs. Although the contribution of natural resources to subsistence economies is widely recognised, there are few studies that have examined the significance of the trade in medicinal pl

Resumen
Natural killer (NK) cells are non-specific killer cells of the innate immune system that eliminate target cells based on discrimination between self and non-self. Activation is carefully regulated through integration of signals received through both activating and inhibitory receptors. During the course of a herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1) infection, NK cells can influence host susceptibility to infection with severe infections occurring in individuals with genetic defects in the NK cell response. In response to HSV infection, NK cells are recruited to the inflammatory tissue where ensuing

Resumen
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a deadly disease of unknown origin, which causes 80,000 deaths every year in the US and Europe combined. Unknown etiology and late diagnosis, combined with limited treatment options, contribute to a dismal survival rate of 3-5 years post diagnosis. Although molecular mechanisms underlying IPF pathogenesis and progression have been studied for over two decades, lack of in vivo models that recapitulate chronic, progressive, and irreversible nature of IPF have contributed to limited therapeutic success in clinical trials. Currently, only two drugs, Pirfenido
