En el Perú, la OPS advierte que la obesidad infantil creció rápidamente en los últimos años y resultados de la ENAHO/INEI señalan que la medida en niños de 5 a 9 años llega a un alarmante 19,3%. Ello como consecuencia del sedentarismo y a que, en nuestro país, se ha impulsado el consumo masivo de alimentos procesados con alto valor calórico y pobre valor nutricional. En ese contexto, nuestro proyecto fue formulado para desarrollar la propuesta innovadora denominada Nutri Deli: Loncheras saludables, para contribuir a contrarrestar los problemas de alimentación en los niños. La cobertura del proyecto comprendería inicialmente a los distritos de Pueblo Libre, Jesús María y Magdalena, y su distribución sería a través del servicio de delivery. El público objetivo serían padres de familia con hijos en edad escolar y con interés en brindarles una alimentación saludable. Nuestro producto se diferenciará por la presentación de los alimentos que harán parte de las loncheras, haciéndolos atractivos visualmente para los niños; además se minimizará el uso de plástico, fomentando el cuidado al medio ambiente. La estrategia a aplicar consistirá en fidelizar a nuestros clientes, a través de una atención personalizada, con la elaboración de combos que vayan acorde con las necesidades de sus hijos, así como con el envío de recetas nutritivas a sus correos electrónicos con el respaldo de un nutricionista. Con nuestro proyecto empresarial “Nutri Deli” no solo esperamos ser rentables y sostenibles, sino además contribuir con la educación en salud alimentaria en el país.
In Peru, PAHO has warned that childhood obesity has grown rapidly in recent years and results from the ENAHO/INEI indicate that measured in children from 5 to 9 years old, reaches an alarming 19.3%. This is a consequence of the sedentary lifestyle and in our country, the massive consumption of processed foods with high caloric content and low nutritional value has been promoted. In this context, our project was formulated to develop the innovative proposal called Nutri Deli: healthy lunch boxes, to help counteract the nutritional problems in children. The project will initially cover the districts of Pueblo Libre, Jesús María and Magdalena, and its distribution would be through the delivery service. The target audience would be parents with children of school age and interested in providing them with a healthy diet. Our product will be differentiated by the presentation of the foods that will be part of the lunch boxes, making them visually attractive for children. In addition, the use of plastic will be minimized, promoting care for the environment. The strategy to be implemented will be based on retaining our customers, through personalized attention, with the production of packs that match the needs of their children, as well as with the forwarding of nutritious recipes to their emails with the support of a nutritionist. With our "Nutri Deli" business project, we not only expect to be profitable and sustainable, but also contribute to food health education in Peru.

Este proyecto busca cubrir la necesidad que encontramos en los clientes a la hora de buscar un menú saludable en su horario y lugar de trabajo, así como también desde la comodidad de su hogar. Brindaremos el servicio por delivery a través de nuestra página web, donde el cliente podrá ver las distintas opciones con las que cuenta a la hora de armar un plato, además, podrá ver el valor nutricional de cada opción elegida. El cliente podrá programar el horario y lugar de entrega y dispondrá también de un chat para resolver cualquier duda o consulta que pueda tener. Nuestra idea de negocio está orientada a personas entre los 18 y 45 años de las zonas N° 6 y 7 de Lima Metropolitana, de un nivel socioeconómico A, B y C, que lleven un estilo de vida saludable y que por falta de tiempo a la hora de almuerzo no puedan encontrar opciones de menús saludables o no pueden preparar sus almuerzos. Sabemos que existen en el mercado diversas opciones de comida saludable por delivery, sin embargo, nos centraremos en ofrecer un servicio personalizado a la hora de que el cliente elija su propio plato, incluyendo planes de alimentación complementado con asesoramiento nutricional.
In this research work we present the Deli Fit project, as a company dedicated to the sale of healthy menus by delivery, focused on providing the customer with a wide variety of ingredients so that they can choose and assemble their own dish according to their tastes or preferences. This project seeks to cover the need that we find in customers when looking for a healthy menu in their schedule and workplace, as well as from the comfort of their home. We will provide the service by delivery through our website, where the client can see the different options available when preparing a dish, in addition, they can see the nutritional value of each option chosen. The client will be able to schedule the time and place of delivery and will also have a chat to resolve any questions or queries they may have. Our business idea is aimed at people between 18 and 45 years of age in zones 6 and 7 of Metropolitan Lima, of a socioeconomic level A, B and C, who lead a healthy lifestyle and who due to lack of time to at lunchtime they can't find healthy menu options or can't prepare their lunches. We know that there are various healthy food delivery options on the market, however, we will focus on offering a personalized service when the customer chooses their own dish, including meal plans supplemented with nutritional advice.

Resumen

During post-alighting behaviour gravid female turnip root fly, D.jloralis, select a plant for oviposition predominantly during the initial landing phase; the cabbage root fly, D.radicum, also utilise the leaf resting phase. The post-alighting behaviour exhibited by D.radicum and D.floralis infers that oviposition site selection is primarily based upon positive stimuli present on the leaf surface. Ranking of four genotypes of plants for antixenotic resistance to oviposition by D.radicum and D.jloralis was found to be the same for both fly species, tested in the laboratory (swede cv Doon Major, most susceptible; kale cv Fribor, most resistant) and varied x80 (D.floralis) and x5 (D.radicum). Field experiments showed that oviposition (which was dominated by D.radicum) varied x2 between plant genotypes (swede cv Doon Major, most susceptible; swede cv GRL aga, most resistant). Testing of Brassica leaf surface extracts, applied to surrogate plants, indicated that leaf surface chemicals strongly influence the site of oviposition of D.floralis. Methanol soluble polar compounds are the most stimulatory element for D.floralis and a fraction which contained aliphatic glucosinolates stimulated oviposition strongly although glucosinolates were not the primary oviposition stimulant. Collaborative experiments indicate that "CIF" (cabbage identification factor) is probably present in this fraction. The concentrations of Brassica root sugars are generally reduced by the damage of both D.radicum and D.floralis and appear to influence larval development. The percentages of plant fibre and lignin in the roots of Brassicas rise following the damage of D.floralis. The concentrations of individual glucosinolates in Brassica roots arc radically altered by the damage of D.floralis and D.radicum. D.floralis damage resulted in a rise in the concentration of aromatic glucosinolates and a fall in the concentration of aliphatic glucosinolates. D.radicum damage generally resulted in an elevated concentration of both aliphatic and aromatic glucosinolates. There was no clear evidence that glucosinolatc profiles were associated with different levels of antibiotic resistance to D.radicum and D.floralis. GRL aga (SCRI breeding line) was consistently resistant to the oviposition and larval feeding of D.radicum and D.floralis both in the laboratory and in the field. It was shown that the use of end-of-season chemical analysis to assess the influence of plant chemistry on insect development or host plant resistance in field experiments and the use of damage indexes based on the percentage of a plant root damaged by D.radicum may be flawed.

Resumen

Cabbage root fly passes through three generations a year in the south of England. The first generation peaks in late April to early May having overwintered in diapause. Recently, populations have been discovered in which the emergence of first generation flies was protracted, lasting until mid-July. The project aimed to investigate the incidence of late emergence in Devon and to examine the ways in which late emergers differed from early emergers in their progress through diapause. A new emergence trap was developed and used in conjunction with yellow water traps to monitor the emergence of cabbage root fly populations at locations of contrasting agricultural practice. Late emergence was widespread in Devon, occurring later (up to September), and in a greater proportion of some populations than any previously reported. The phenomenon appears to be a response to the planting of brassicas in June, as flies emerging at the normal time may not be able to locate a host crop. Emergence in a substantial proportion of one population was delayed for a year. This has not been been previously reported in cabbage root fly and represents a 'sit and wait' strategy associated with short-lived habitats, occurring in patches often separated by considerable distances but which frequently reappear in approximately the same location. A gas chromatography technique was developed which is capable of individually monitoring the respiration rates of large numbers of pupae. The results suggested that the temperature optimum for diapause development may r1se in late emergers, possibly above the threshold for postdiapause development. There was considerable 1ntrapopulat1on variation in temperature responses. Overall, the results suggest that the level of variation in temperature response and emergence times between and within populations will require careful local investigation with continuous reassessment of selection pressures, for an accurate prediction of cabbage root fly emergence.

Resumen

This thesis explores the electronic music and sound created by Delia Derbyshire in the BBC’s Radiophonic Workshop between 1962 and 1973. After her resignation from the BBC in the early 1970s, the scope and breadth of her musical work there became obscured, and so this research is primarily presented as an open-ended enquiry into that work. During the course of my enquiries, I found a much wider variety of music than the popular perception of Derbyshire suggests: it ranged from theme tunes to children’s television programmes to concrete poetry to intricate experimental soundscapes of synthesis. While her most famous work, the theme to the science fiction television programme Doctor Who (1963) has been discussed many times, because of the popularity of the show, most of the pieces here have not previously received detailed attention. Some are not widely available at all and so are practically unknown and unexplored. Despite being the first institutional electronic music studio in Britain, the Workshop’s role in broadcasting, rather than autonomous music, has resulted in it being overlooked in historical accounts of electronic music, and very little research has been undertaken to discover more about the contents of its extensive archived back catalogue. Conversely, largely because of her role in the creation of its most recognised work, the previously mentioned Doctor Who theme tune, Derbyshire is often positioned as a pioneer in the medium for bringing electronic music to a large audience. Both perceptions of the workshop and Derbyshire are problematised here, because while they seem to contrast, they are both posited upon the same underlying method of attributing positive value to autonomous music, rather than viewing them on their own specific terms within broadcast media. While it is shown that Derbyshire certainly aspired towards the role of composing contemporary classical music and had an interest in integrating its aesthetics and ideas into her work, she also had an ambiguous relation to it and was not fully able to explore her interest because of her socio-cultural circumstances. Further, the mass of difficult-to-access archived material precludes particularly firm conclusions about Derbyshire’s role in any history of electronic music in Britain—which is itself still very much under construction— with much further research suggested. Thus, the selection of material here is patched together into three different themes raised by her in interview, within contextual frames of relevant aesthetics and techniques, rather than into a coherent chronological, biographical or historical narrative.

BACK TO BLUEFIELD is a collection of ten short stories set in the fictional small town of Bluefield, Ohio. Like “Dance of the Happy Shades” by Alice Munro, BACK TO BLUEFIELD highlights patriarchal limitations women often face in rural communities. In “This Little Light of Mine,” a teenage girl attempts to escape the sexual abuse inflicted on her by her father, while in “Praise Camp,” a youth pastor counsels a teenager to repress homosexual feelings, yet cannot bury her own unrequited love for her female best friend. In the spirit of Hemingway’s “The End of Something,” each story contain a high, clear note of grief. In “Lottie’s Winter,” a widow pushes away a new chance at love because of her lasting grief over her husband’s death. Disoriented by profound loss, and limited by Bluefield’s cultural expectations and economic struggles, each character confronts staggering gaps between their realities and their desires.

Este trabalho tem como escopo abordar a complexa trajetória política e intelectual de Delio Cantimori (1904-1966), partindo da sua educação familiar mazziniana, sua aderência ao Fascismo e aos preceitos do idealismo atualista como base paradigmática de leitura do Renascimento e da política contemporânea italiana e europeia. Assim, sigo o processo de inflexão teórico vivenciado pelo estudioso italiano durante a década de 1930, quando as experiências de pesquisas dos hereges na Europa do Cinquecento e seus contatos com novas leituras e ambientes intelectuais e políticos se misturavam com as modificações dos planos do governo fascista, a decadência da fé no corporativismo, o desprestígio popular em relação do regime, o projeto expansionista italiano, o desenrolar histórico alemão e a influência da Alemanha nazista sobre a Itália. Estes fatores levaram Cantimori a se aproximar do Partido Comunista Italiano e dos preceitos teóricos do materialismo histórico. Dessa maneira, finalizo com a sua segunda desilusão política em relação às políticas culturais ideológicas do Partido Comunista Italiano, que levou o intelectual a uma profunda nostalgia de sua geração de historiadores, empenhados em leituras históricas ético-políticas, pautadas em métodos e interpretações filológicas, incompatíveis com os pressupostos ideológicos partidários, e a aproximação da tradição histórico-cultural de Jacob Burckhardt, de seu pessimismo, de seu cientificismo e de sua concepção de História como uma disciplina propedêutica.
This work is scoped to approach the complex political and intellectual trajectory of Delio Cantimori (1904-1966), from his Mazzinian family education, their adherence to Fascism and the precepts of idealism actualist as paradigmatic background reading Renaissance and contemporary Italian and European politics. So follow the theoretical turning process experienced by the Italian scholar during the 1930s, when their experience of research about the heretics in Europe of Cinquecento and his contacts with new perspectives and intellectual and political environments mingled with the modifications of the plans of the fascist government, the decline of faith in the corporatism, the popular prestige over the regime, the Italian expansionist project, the German historical progress and the influence of Nazi Germany over Italy. These factors led Cantimori to close the Italian Communist Party and theoretical precepts of historical materialism. Thus, I conclude with his second political disillusionment with the ideological cultural policies of the Italian Communist Party, which led the intellectual to a deep nostalgia for his generation of historians, committed to ethical and political historical readings, guided methods and philological interpretations, incompatible with party ideological presuppositions, the approach of the cultural-history tradition of Jacob Burckhardt, in his pessimism, his scientism and his conception of history as a propaedeutic subject.

Delia radicum, la mouche du chou, est un ravageur important des cultures en Bretagne. L’utilisation d’odeurs pour manipuler le comportement de la mouche et/ou de ses carnivores fait l’objet des recherches effectuées durant cette thèse. Les travaux entrepris ont permis d’identifier un composé volatile jouant un rôle prépondérant dans les interactions entre D. Radicum, sa plante hôte, et ses prédateurs. Ce composé permet d’attirer différents auxiliaires mais aussi d’inhiber en partie la ponte de D. Radicum. Cependant, les premiers essais menés en champ indiquent un possible impact négatif sur l’efficacité prédatrice des auxiliaires. D’autres essais illustrent la place des odeurs dans les interactions complexes qui existent au sein d’une communauté d’espèces. Ces résultats soulignent la nécessité d’avoir une connaissance fine du fonctionnement des écosystèmes pour garantir la réussite de ce type d’approche
Delia radicum, the cabbage root-fly, is the principal pest of cabbage crops in Brittany, France. Using odours in Brassicaceae crops to manipulate both the fly and the behaviour of its predators/parasitoids is the aim of this PhD thesis. This work revealed the existence of a major volatile signal driving Brassicaceae-D. Radicum-control agent interactions. Using this compound allowed to attract several bio control agents and to deter the fly. However, initial agronomical studies indicated that using this odour can have adverse effects on the predatory efficiency of the bio control agents. Another experiment unravelled the role of odours in complex interactions that drive species community structure. Results obtained highlight the need to have a fine knowledge of ecosystem functioning to succeed in this approach

Resumen

Ces travaux de recherche s’inscrivent dans la problématique scientifique de reconstruction du relief sous un couvert végétal à partir d’observations aéroportées. Le scanner laser aéroporté est une technique d’imagerie très prometteuse, notamment pour l’observation des zones forestières. Sa déclinaison "onde complète" consiste à émettre une impulsion laser et à enregistrer temporellement l’intégralité des échos de retour réfléchis par la scène. La forme des échos de retour fournit des informations sur l’épaisseur optique du couvert végétal. De nombreux systèmes commerciaux sont en exploitation, en particulier en topographie ou en bathymétrie. Mais ces systèmes ne sont pas dédiés à l’observation de la végétation. L’objectif de cette thèse est l’étude de l’intérêt de ces systèmes pour la construction de modèle numérique de terrain (MNT) sous couvert végétal. Elle est basée sur le développement d’outils de simulation du signal temporel incident au capteur lidar et de traitement des données. Dans un premier temps, le modèle physique de lidar onde complète, DELiS (n-Dimensional Estimation of Lidar Signals) a été développé. Il permet de simuler l’observation de scènes de végétation réalistes, tout en incluant la prise en compte de l’environnement extérieur (atmosphère, soleil) ainsi que des caractéristiques de la source et de la chaîne de détection (bruits de mesure). DELiS a été validé par confrontation à des résultats analytiques. Ensuite, DELIS a permis de comprendre et d’évaluer l’importance des diffusions multiples dans le couvert en fonction du champ de vue du lidar mais aussi de justifier l’utilisation d’acquisitions aéroportées petit champ pour simuler le signal d’un lidar spatial plus grand champ. Dans une deuxième étape, ses capacités de simulation ont été utilisées afin d’étudier l’intérêt du lidar onde complète pour la reconstruction d’un MNT sous couvert végétal. Dans ce but, nous avons développé et implémenté numériquement une méthode originale de traitement et de classification des données lidar onde complète permettant de séparer les échos lidar provenant du sol de ceux provenant de la végétation. Après classification des échos, nous avons reconstruit la géométrie du sol et des objets occultés par la végétation. Enfin, nous avons étudié comment combiner des données aéroportées acquises sous différents points de vue afin d’améliorer les reconstructions. Nos travaux montrent que le scanner laser aéroporté onde complète pourrait permettre d’obtenir en milieux forestier des reconstructions de la géométrie du terrain à des résolutions sub-métriques et avec une précision de l’ordre de 10 à 20 centimètres. La combinaison de visées multi-angulaire permet, par l’apport d’une quantité importante d’information supplémentaire, d’améliorer encore la reconstruction du MNT. Nous montrons cependant que les visées inclinées sont plus sensibles à la présence des troncs et branchages des arbres, éléments qui sont susceptibles d’introduire une erreur importante dans les processus de classification et de reconstruction. Pour cette raison, nous recommandons l’utilisation de la visée nadir pour la reconstruction mono-vue des modèles numériques de terrain, et nous proposons une méthode permettant de choisir de façon optimale les visées inclinées à ajouter pour l’observation détaillée d’une portion plus restreinte de la scène
This research work regards the scientific challenge of reconstructing the ground and the object presents under a vegetation cover from airborne observations. Airborne laser scanning is a promising technology. Full-waveform devices are able to record the complete temporal return signal following the emission of a short laser pulse towards the ground. This offers a great potential for remote sensing of forested areas, since the laser pulse will travel through the vegetation. Many commercial systems are already operated for topography or bathymetry. Scientists have been using these systems for vegetation observation, even if they are not dedicated to this purpose. The objective of this thesis is to study the relevance of full-waveform lidars for the geometric reconstruction of digital terrain models (DTM) under vegetation. We also aim at developing simulation and data processing toolsthat will help design and optimize future sensors dedicated to vegetation observation. Our first task was the development of a new physical simulator for full-waveform lidar measurement. The DELiS model (n-Dimensional Estimation of Lidar Signals) is able tosimulate the observation of complex and realistic vegetation scenes while accounting for atmosphere and sun perturbations, and simulating the multiple scattering of the laser pulse in the canopy. We have also implemented a sensor model for simulation of the measurement, amplification and digitization noises. This operational simulation tool is a key asset for future physical studies as well as for designing and optimizing future sensors and data processing methods. After validating the DELiS model by confrontation with analytical results, we have used it for studying the interest of full-waveform lidar for digital terrain models reconstruction under vegetation. For this purpose, we have developed a full-waveform lidar data processing method for decomposition of the signals and classification of the lidar echoes into two classes : ’ground’ and ’vegetation’. We were then able to reconstruct ground geometry.Finally, we have led a study on the combination of multi-angular acquisitions for improvement of the reconstructions.Our work shows that airborne full-waveform lidar observations may allow ground reconstruction with sub-metric resolutions and a precision of 10 to 20 centimeters in forested areas. Combining multiple viewing angles provides additional data, and helps improving the precision of the reconstructions. Yet, we show that non-nadir viewing is much more sensitive to trunks and branches. These elements may be the cause of an additional error in the classification and reconstruction processes. For this reason, we recommend using nadir viewing for single-view ground reconstruction, and propose a method for optimally selecting non-nadir views for the detailed observation of restricted areas of interest

Resumen

Zirconium metal (Zr) is highly desirable as a cladding material for nuclear fuel rods in nuclear power plants, because of its very low nuclear absorption cross-section for thermal neutrons, however to use this Zr metal it has to be purified (<100 ppm) from the contained (1 – 3% wt) hafnium metal (Hf), occurs in zircon ore (ZrSiO4) in nature. Because of the extensive beach deposits, rich in zircon minerals, located along the South African coasts, there is a great opportunity for zircon beneficiation in South Africa to convert the country's mineral output into high added value products rather than selling the basic mineral to countries like China. Due to the significantly similar chemical properties of these two elements, the purification of the Zr metal is a complicated process. The separation of Zr and Hf, as currently practiced, is mostly conducted through solvent extraction in which the aqueous chloride solution of metal species is contacted with an immiscible organic phase containing a reagent that selectively removes one of the two metals from the aqueous phase. The conventional multi-stage industrial approach, in production since the 1950s, presented several technological disadvantages and environmental problems that were considered acceptable when these processes were developed, but have become a serious problem as legislation became more stringent. Thus, the main objective for this study is to develop an innovative, environmentally friendly and cost-efficient solvent-extraction process that makes use of Hf-containing Zr compounds, produced by NECSA (Pty) Ltd from zircon ore by means of plasma technology, for the separation of Zr and Hf in order to produce nuclear-grade Zr metal. Results obtained from this study show that the extraction of Zr and Hf from chloride-based compounds (Zr(Hf)CI4) proceeds via an anion-exchange mechanism through the extraction with amine extractants (Alamine 336 and Aliquat 336), while the Zr species could be successfully recovered from the organic solutions. However, the extraction from fluoride-based compounds (K2Zr(Hf)F6) was unsuccessful for both Zr and Hf species. The new proposed process for Zr and Hf separation from chloride-based Zr compounds seems to be an improvement from the conventional separation processes.

Os delitos praticados por menores no in?cio do s?culo XX suscitam interesse na medida em que tais pr?ticas hoje geram grandes preocupa??es tanto por parte do Estado quanto pela sociedade em geral. Embora os crimes praticados atualmente relacionem-se a problemas n?o identificados no in?cio do s?culo XX, como ? o caso das drogas, buscou-se compreender como esse problema social foi visto pelo Estado. Este trabalho analisou as senten?as dos processos-crime do Cart?rio de J?ri, de Porto Alegre, originados entre os anos de 1927 a 1933, localizados no Arquivo P?blico do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (APERS), a fim de verificar o conte?do e identificar como era percebida, pelos magistrados, a pr?tica de delitos por menores. Verificou-se o processo de transforma??o das rela??es entre o Estado e o indiv?duo a partir da Modernidade, e como estas acabaram interferindo tamb?m sobre a organiza??o da fam?lia e das pr?ticas sobre a inf?ncia. Analisaram-se as mudan?as ocorridas nas vis?es acerca da inf?ncia, principalmente aquelas surgidas na Modernidade, bem como o processo que desencadeou o reconhecimento da inf?ncia como uma etapa do desenvolvimento humano; e, por fim, as pr?ticas adotadas pelo Estado para o controle das fam?lias e das crian?as. ? apresentado um panorama dos crimes cometidos por menores na capital do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, o que ? feito por meio da an?lise quantitativa e qualitativa dos processos-crime do Cart?rio do J?ri referentes ? tem?tica. Por fim, se analisou os dados contidos nos processos referentes aos delitos mais cometidos les?es corporais, furto e roubo e defloramento, com base nas senten?as proferidas pelos magistrados, bem como o tratamento dispensado pelos ju?zes a esses delitos. Essa disserta??o integra a ?rea de concentra??o Sociedade Ci?ncia e Arte, cuja linha de pesquisa chama-se As fronteiras entre Tradi??o e Modernidade na constru??o do Estado Brasileiro.

This research is responsible for the investigation and problematization of the violence production process in children and teenagers through deviant behaviour, especially the drug s use and traffic, given that the deviant behaviour named juvenile criminality is something built and that can t be disassociated from the social and institutional relations that are ideological and violent, as well as the construction of, social and individual, positive identities can become important instruments for the process of democratization and the effective juvenile citizenship. In relation to the teorical referential, the work was developed from readings beyond the social science camp, without getting far from it, searching for support in other scientific camps and making your bases on Manuel Castells formulations about the power of the identity, and on Nancy Fraser and Axel Honneth in relation to the recognition struggle. In the empiric field, the discourses and graphic representations from twenty four children and teenagers that attend a social project were privileged, and compared to those shown at the documentary and the book Falc?o Meninos do Tr?fico produced by MV Bill, in relation to the social profile and life trajectory. From the study subjects' perspective, the data suggest that the children and the teenagers conceive violence as a natural thing, either as victims or persecutors. However, the research shows that, despite the subjects of the two studied groups reveled in your discourses the influence of the violent relations in their daily lives, the subjects got recognition during the process of identity construction by the groups with which they maintained the sense of belonging, either it being the family, the community or the school, they were positively influenced and established a positive representation of themselves and didn t show any deviant and violent tendency or behaviour. Therefore, we demonstrate the role of the school for an education for peace, as well as the participation of the family, the community and the stimulation of the juvenile protagonism as transforming practices, capable of awaking the citizenship and avoiding the construction of people that reproduce deviant and violent behaviour
Esta pesquisa tratou da investiga??o e problematiza??o do processo de produ??o de viol?ncia manifestado em crian?as e adolescentes atrav?s de comportamentos desviantes, especialmente o uso e tr?fico de drogas, partindo da premissa de que a conduta desviante denominada de criminalidade juvenil ? algo constru?do e que n?o se desvincula das rela??es sociais e institucionais ideol?gicas e violentas, bem como que a constru??o de identidades, sociais e individuais, positivas podem se tornar instrumentos importantes para o processo de democratiza??o e o exerc?cio pleno da cidadania infanto-juvenil. No que tange ao referencial te?rico, o trabalho se desenvolveu a partir de leituras que transcendem ao campo das ci?ncias sociais, sem, contudo afastar-se dele, buscando subs?dios em outros campos da ci?ncia e alicer?ando-se nas formula??es de Manuel Castells sobre poder e identidade, e de Nancy Fraser e Axel Honneth no que tange a luta por reconhecimento. No campo emp?rico, foram privilegiados os discursos e representa??es gr?ficas de vinte e quatro crian?as e adolescentes atendidos por um Projeto Social, sendo os seus discursos comparados com aqueles apresentados no document?rio e no livro Falc?o - Meninos do Tr?fico produzido por MV Bill, no que tange ao perfil social e trajet?ria de vida. Da perspectiva dos sujeitos do estudo, os dados sugerem que as crian?as e adolescentes concebem a viol?ncia de forma naturalizada, quer seja na posi??o de v?timas ou algozes. Entretanto, a pesquisa aponta que, apesar dos sujeitos dos dois grupos pesquisados revelarem em seus discursos as influ?ncias das rela??es violentas nas din?micas de seus cotidianos, os sujeitos que obtiveram reconhecimento no processo de constru??o de sua identidade por parte dos grupos com os quais mantinha um sentimento de perten?a, quer seja na fam?lia, na comunidade ou na escola, foram influenciados positivamente e estabeleceram uma representa??o positiva de si e n?o apresentaram tend?ncia ou comportamentos desviantes e violentos. Resumen

Les microorganismes exercent une forte influence sur les interactions plante-insecte. Nous avons étudié l’interaction entre le colza (Brassica napus), la mouche du chou (Delia radicum) et les communautés microbiennes qui leur sont associées. La diversité microbienne du sol a été manipulée par dilution jusqu’à extinction pour évaluer son effet sur la chimie de la plante et les traits d’histoire de vie de l’insecte. La différence de diversité a influencé le taux d’émergence et l’oviposition de la mouche, mais pas la chimie de la plante. A l’inverse, la phytophagie par D. radicum a drastiquement modifié la chimie des racines et les communautés microbiennes des racines et de la rhizosphère. Nous avons proposé le scénario selon lequel les plantes soumises à des attaques de phytophages produiraient des composes défensifs mais recruteraient aussi avec des composés chimiques attractifs, des microorganismes du sol qui permettraient à la plante de maintenir sesdéfenses. Les communautés bactériennes des mouches adultes, sans leur symbiote facultatif Wolbachia, ont été étudiées à l’aide d’un antibiotique. Nous avons montré que la tétracycline diminuait la diversité bactérienne des mouches sans les rendre stériles, modifiait la composition des communautés, et que les effets étaient durables sur plusieurs générations. Enfin, l’étude de la transmission des bactéries chez D. radicum a montré deux espèces partagées entre les femelles et les oeufs, et deux autres entre les larves et les racines et le sol. Microorganisms have a strong influence on plant-insect interactions. We have studied the interaction between oilseed rape (Brassica napus), the cabbage root fly (Delia radicum) and their associated microbial communities. Soil microbial diversity was manipulated with the dilution to extinction approach to assess its effect on plant chemistry and insect life history traits. Diversity variation influenced the fly emergence rate and oviposition, but not plant chemistry. Conversely, herbivory by D. radicum strongly modified root chemistry and both root and rhizosphere microbial communities. We proposed a scenario that in the presence of herbivory, plants would produce defensive compounds but also would recruit, with attractive chemical compounds, soil microorganismsthat may maintain plant defenses. Bacterial communities of adult flies, free of their facultative symbiont Wolbachia, were studied using an antibiotic. We showed that tetracycline decreased fly bacterial diversity, without making them sterile, modified community composition, and that effect lasted over several generations. Lastly, studying bacterial transmission in D. radicum showed two species shared between females and eggs, and two others between larvae and both roots and rhizosphere. This study showed that having a better understanding of plant-insect interactions and how strongly microorganisms can influence their own host or other interacting organisms is a crucial step that could promote microbial applications in a context of insect biological control

Resumen

Delia radicum L. (Diptera: Anthomyiidae), the cabbage root fly, is a specialist root-feeding insect pest of Brassica crops. The impending withdrawal of chlorpyrifos, one of the main pesticides used against D. radicum, opens new opportunities to research alternative pest management strategies. Manipulating host plant location cues to influence D. radicum adult and larval behaviour, along with induced plant defence responses, offer potential integrative crop protection solutions (Chapter 1). This thesis aimed to identify the semiochemistry underpinning D. radicum larval host plant location, and to investigate whether plant defence induction treatments (methyl jasmonate [MeJA], D-Fructose) and a herbivore induced volatile (dimethyl disulfide [DMDS]) affect D. radicum larval performance and adult oviposition preference. In choice-test bioassays, larvae were inconsistent in their responses to root exudates collected from Brassica host plants (Chapter 2). A combined bioassay and EthoVision® video-tracking approach was developed to record and analyse larval movements in response to volatiles emitted from host and non-host plant roots (Chapter 3). Larvae were significantly attracted to host plant root volatiles. Olfactory stimuli from roots of the non-host plant onion (Allium cepa L. ‘Ailsa Craig’), which share overlapping, yet distinctive volatile profiles to that of Brassica plants, also elicited positive taxis. By analysing the volatile metabolome of broccoli (B. oleracea L. convar. botrytis L. Alef. var. cymosa Duchesne ‘Parthenon’) and onion roots using solid phase micro extraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME-GCMS), a suite of candidate volatile orientation cues were identified. A SPME-based method was developed to non-invasively collect root volatiles in situ from glasshouse- and field-grown broccoli plants pre- and post-D. radicum infestation (Chapters 4, 5 and 6). GC-MS analyses revealed that sulfur compounds, showing characteristic temporal emission patterns, were the principal volatiles released by roots in response to damage. This new method, which has potential for wide application in chemical ecology research, allows the study of volatiles in the soil in situ that are critical for interactions between trophic levels. In EthoVision® bioassays, a major volatile constituent of broccoli roots, DMDS, was attractive to larvae, but toxic at the highest dose tested (Chapter 3). Glasshouse and on-farm experiments using broccoli were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of MeJA, D-Fructose and DMDS against D. radicum compared to commercially available crop protection products (chlorpyrifos [Dursban® WG], spinosad [Tracer®], Steinernema feltiae Filipjev [Nematoda: Steinernematidae] [Entonem] and garlic granules [ECOguard®]). MeJA and garlic reduced larval performance under glasshouse conditions whereas D-Fructose and DMDS did not at the concentrations tested (Chapter 7). In field studies, MeJA combined with reduced rate chlorpyrifos, spinosad, and S. feltiae all showed partial efficacy for controlling D. radicum larvae. Inherent field site, weather and D. radicum population density variability highlighted that glasshouse results cannot always be reproduced in more complex field environments (Chapter 8). Further research is needed into formulation, mode of application and timing to improve efficacy of promising treatments that may help in future integrated pest management (IPM) for this key pest in the absence of existing pesticides.
