Resumen
The populations of the well-known forest pest, Dendrolimus sibiricus Chetverikov, 1908 stat.rev., were sampled in the European foothills of the Ural Mountains, Russia. D. sibiricus is a species distinct from the Japanese taxon D. superans (Butler, 1877). Another taxon from the Southern Urals, taxonomically close to D. pini (Linnaeus), is described here as D. kilmez sp.n. The synthetic female pheromones prepared for D. pini and D. sibiricus attracted equally well all three taxa present, and thus cannot be used to identify these species. The Ural populations of D. sibiricus show differences in e

The Siberian moth, Dendrolimus sibiricus Tschetv., 1908 (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae) is a conifer pest that causes unprecedented forest mortality in Northern Asia, leading to enormous ecological and economic losses. This is the first study summarizing data on the parasitoid diversity and parasitism of this pest over the last 118 years (1905–2022). Based on 860 specimens of freshly reared and archival parasitoids, 16 species from two orders (Hymenoptera and Diptera) were identified morphologically and/or with the use of DNA barcoding. For all of them, data on distribution and hosts and images o

This study presents an approach to forecast outbreaks of Dendrolimus sibiricus, a significant pest affecting taiga ecosystems. Leveraging comprehensive datasets encompassing climatic variables and forest attributes from 15,000 taiga parcels in the Krasnoyarsk Krai region, we employ genetic programming-based predictive modeling. Our methodology utilizes Random Forest algorithm to develop robust forecasting model through integrated data analysis techniques. By optimizing hyperparameters within the predictive model, we achieved heightened accuracy, reaching a maximum precision of 0.9941 in foreca

Fungal strains isolated in the Krasnoyarsk Territory from dead caterpillars of the Siberian silkworm Dendrolimus sibiricus Tschetverikov, found in the litter and crown of Abies sibirica Ledeb., based on morphological and genetic methods, were assigned to the species Cordyceps militaris (L.) Fr. The strains are highly active producers of bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides (PS), adenosine and cordysinin B. Cordysinin B was first discovered in the species C. militaris. It was found that the production of PS was more influenced by the method of growing mushrooms than by the carbon substra

Field trapping experiments were conducted against the Siberian moth, Dendrolimus superans sibiricus Butler, in Siberia, Russia, using traps baited with a virgin female moth or 100 μg synthetic mixtures of C12 straight chain-length aldehydes, alcohols, and acetates alone or in combinations on rubber septa. Traps baited with a 1:1 blend of aldehydes and alcohols captured many males. The capture rate was similar to the rate of capture seen in traps baited with virgin females. The mixture of aldehydes and alcohols (64% Z,E-5,7-dodecadienal, 10% Z-5-dodecenal, 18% E-7-dodecenal, 8% E-6-dodecenal) a

This article presents the results of the inventory of outbreak foci of D. sibiricus in the Vasyugan forestry, Tomsk region. The purpose of the article was reflecting the state of the pest population and assessing a threat of defoliation of forests. Pests were measured by caterpillars using the method of knocking on model trees. According to the results, 29 isolated foci were identified, including 9 foci requiring actions to target pests. The threat of defoliation of forest areas in these foci was 76,3 %. The article gave us the examples of calculation of population characteristics determinatio

Resumen
Dendrolimus sibiricus (Siberian silkworm) is the most important pest of the boreal forests of Asia. In the development cycle, this species has a facultative summer diapause, which complicates the population size prediction. This phenomenon has no genetic explanation to date. In this work we have compared differential expression of genes and transcripts for two types of development of the Siberian silkworm based on RNA-seq data.

Resumen
Biological insecticides are recognized as more environmentally friendly for insect pest control. A new strain of Dendrolimus sibiricus Cypovirus-1 is considered as a candidate for mass production of biological pest control agents. An alternative host — Manduca sexta was chosen as a suitable species for further cultivation and production of a DsCPV-1 strain. New molecular method needed to detect viral accumulation in M. sexta during mass production.

Resumen
The Siberian moth, Dendrolimus sibiricus, poses a significant threat to coniferous forests in its native range, primarily affecting larch, fir, spruce and pine trees. Outbreaks occur cyclically every decade, lasting 2 to 3 years, resulting in defoliation and potential tree mortality. Despite the severity of its impact, no classical biological control programs have been reported. However, native natural enemies, particularly the egg parasitoid Telenomus sp., have shown promising potential. Studies indicate consistent parasitism rates ranging from 50 to 90% throughout outbreak cycles, with succe
