V prispevku so predstavljene splošne in fizične geografske danosti območja. Nakazane so nekatere sodobne geopolitične in geostrateške značilnosti območja. Zadnji del prispevka opozarja na vojaškogeografsko razsežnost in pomen Dobrudže zaradi bližine kriznih žarišč in nestabilnosti obrobja Črnega morja. We are presenting Dobrogea, a geographical region in south-eastern part of Europe with important military geographical, geostrategic and geopolitical characteristics. These are determined by the proximity of crisis areas, occasional international frictions in the wider Danube Basin, historical heritage and geostrategic importance. The article presents general and physical geographic resources of the area. It illuminates the development of spatial structures which decisively impact the geo- traffic situation of the region. The main part of the article presents Dobrogea as a battlefield with operational dimensions, and the participation of Slovenians in World War I battles and operations in eastern and south-eastern battlefields. It points to some of the contemporary geopolitical and geostrategic characteristics of the region. The final part of the article, however, brings attention to the military geographical dimension and the importance of Dobrogea due to the proximity of crisis areas and instabilities of the Black Sea fringe.

Resumen
The geochemistry of rhyolites uncovered at shallow depth by a borehole on the Kiliya-Zmeinyi uplift of the Black Sea northwestern shelf northeast of Zmeinyi island, in the junction zone of the East European platform and the Scythian plate, has been studied for the first time. This zone is considered by many geologists and geophysicists as a Late Paleozoic collisional suture that had been formed due to subduction of oceanic crust of the ocean, which adjoined the East European platform from the south, under the Scythian plate; it is traced from Dobrudzha to the Caspian Sea and named North Crimean. To check the subduction nature of the boundary between the East European platform and the Scythian plate, igneous rocks’ geochemical characteristics beeng indicators of various geodynamic regimes were used. A petrogeochemical comparison of rhyolites from the borehole in Zmeinyi area with acid igneous rocks known nearby has been carried out, namely with: 1) Late Permian subalkaline granites and rhyolites Turcoaia of the Macin zone of Northern Dobruja; 2) Triassic and / or Triassic-Jurassic trachyrhyolites and rhyolites of the Tulcea zone of Northern Dobruja and the Tatarbunar complex of the Pre-Dobruja depression. Some acid rocks of various ages and genesis from the southernmost margin of the Scythian plate (southwestern Crimea on- and offshore) were taken additionally for comparison. According to the distribution of rare earth elements, the position on the discriminant geochemical diagrams and the shape of curves on the multicomponent spider diagrams, the rhyolites of the Kiliya-Zmeinyi uplift exhibit not subduction but intraplate geochemical features closest to those of granites and rhyolites Turcoaia of the Macin zone of Northern Dobruja. Considering that the latter are reputed to be Late Permian, one can assume the same age for the rhyolites from the borehole in Zmeinyi area. Taking into account section features, geophysical information and geochemical similarity of magmatism, Kiliya-Zmeinyi uplift of the northwestern shelf seems to be a continuation of the Northern Dobruja structure into the Black Sea; it was a part of the hypothetical Late Paleozoic Euxinian orogen near its northern boundary. An absence of subduction geochemical properties in the studied presumably Late Permian rhyolites indicates that the junction zone of the East European platform and the Scythian plate in the Ukrainian shelf area is not a Late Paleozoic suture, but rather represents a thrust of the Euxinian orogen.

Resumen
Abstract The study of loess and loess-like deposits in Romania has developed considerably, over the years. C14 dating determined that the last three glaciations (Mindel, Riss, Würm) and, at least, two interglacial periods were recorded in the Dobrudja Plateau. Five other paleosol layers indicate the succession of the Quaternary interglacial stations. The loess of Dobrudja, is about 50 m in thickness. The term loess-scape is comprised of all the processes and forms specific to these deposits, which create a unique landscape, with local peculiarities. Natural and anthropic conditions created loessoid microforms (clastokarst) specific to the Dobrudja Plateau. The friability of loess-like deposits, the heavy rains, the lack of vegetation, the existence of a steep slope and of a low basic level, led to the development of a marginal (border) clastokarst on the western and northern side of the plateau (on the right of Danube bank). The aim of this study is to rename the microforms specific to loess-like deposits and to highlight new ones: solution clastic dolines, collapse clastic dolines, clastic resurgences (intermittent karst springs), piping clastic glacis, collapse clastic glacis, proluvial clastic glacis, clastic micro-waterfalls with clastic micro-cauldrons, clastokarstic curtains (drapes), and so on. Consequently, the loess-scape in the Dobrudja Plateau is distinct, just like the karstic, volcanic, glacial landscape, and so on. New clastokarstic microforms were highlighted and efforts were made to establish a proper terminology.

Resumen
The volume includes an anthology of research from the publications of the Bucharest Sociological School regarding the history of interbellum colonization of Dobrudja, with a focus on Aromanians – resources otherwise difficult to find for contemporary readers. The texts provide a rich historical perspective, previously unpublished materials and suggestive details concerning the adventures of Aromanians caught in the rollercoaster of interbellum colonization of Dobrudja. The dataset generated through this volume is highly relevant for advances in sociological methodology, documenting the outlining, decades before its centrality in global literature, of a novel approach – the action research, a productive combination of demands for scientific neutrality and axiological involvement (Bradbury and Reason, 2003).

Resumen
The first cultural influences come out in Dobruja together with the appearance of the first German colonists, beginning from 1840 till 1891. The colonization process develops itself in three stages and colonies in places like Tulcea, Malcoci, Almagea, Ciucurova, Cogealac, Tariverde, M. Kog?lniceanu and others set up as a result. The German population has created an original culture, an ethnic and spiritual communication being deeply set up, but at the same time a communication struck by the specific conditions imposed by the history of this south-eastern European area. On the other side, the Turkish invasion of Dobruja started earlier, in 1388, when it was actually defeated by Mircea cel B?trân. In 1393 the Turks succeeded in taking Dobruja and Silistra, but in 1404 Micea cel B?trân re-conquered the greatest part of these regions. Many Turkish and Tartars moved into Dobruja during the long period of Ottoman rule. The 19th century ethnographic maps show a mainly Turkish population in the area of modern day Dobruja, Tartars and Turks in the southern part of Dobruja and Romanians dominating the north of Dobruja. The paper aims at presenting aspects regarding these two different identities and cultures which are to be found in Dobruja, as well as their integration process within the Romanian Dobrujan modern society.

Resumen
The cordaitaleans are an important plant group in the Westphalian and Stephanian (Bashkirian, Moscovian and Kasimovian) of the Dobrudzha Basin. Small fragments of Cordaites leaves from bore cores are difficult to classify, therefore cuticular analysis has been used in their study. As a result five new species have been erected: Cordaites mogilishtianus, Cordaites makedonkanus, Cordaites dobrudzhanus, Cordaites vraninoensis and Cordaites gurkovoensis. Three species from the Bohemian Massif, namely Cordaites idae, C. schatzlarensis and C. cf. melnicensis also occur in the Dobrudzha Basin. Due to poor preservation, three samples from the Dobrudzha Basin cannot be determined to species and are here described as Cordaites sp. A, Cordaites sp. B and Cordaites sp. C. Most of the Dobrudzha Basin Cordaites belong to the Cordaites cuticular group B (Šimůnek, 2007) which is characterized by single or double stomatal rows on the abaxial cuticle.

Resumen
This paper addresses an aspect of the institutional history of the Muslim community in Romania. It aims to present how the Association of Graduates of the Muslim Seminary in Dobrudja was established and analyze its purpose and activities. The role of the Association is considered from two perspectives. The establishment of the Association was linked to Emel magazine and the group that published it. This group supported the creation of a Crimean Tatar state in Crimea. However, some of its members tried to solve the problems the Turks and the Tatars in Romania faced. In my paper, I explained the role of the Association in the organization system of Islam in Romania. The organization of the Muslim community was established in the first years after the Russo‑Ottoman War of 1877–1878, after which Dobrudja became part of the Romanian state. Thus, an organizational system similar to the Ottoman one continued after this year. Its central institution was the Muftiate, under whose subordination were the Muslim Communities and the Kadiates. The Muslim Seminary held a special place in this system. It was the only educational institution whose role was to train imams and Turkish language teachers of the Turkish and Tatar community in Romania, recognized and supported by local and central authorities. In this sense, the establishment of the Association of Graduates of the Muslim Seminary in Dobrudja was also a response of the Muslim community members to the new political, demographic, and cultural realities.

Resumen

This thesis examines the Neolithic settlements in Durankulak, Danube, north of Bulgaria and Sitagroi in Greek Macedonia at the time when human life went from nomadic and hunting to well organized, agriculture and settled. As a background I present facts about the chronology, I will look for similarities and differences in the climate and the environment of the settlements and then I make a comparison based on the material findings. The facts, analyses and artefacts give a base for understanding the daily life in Durankulak and Sitagroi. By comparing the settlements I will investigate if the Neolithization was a homogenous process on Balkan or if there are differences that indicate external inputs from several directions.

Resumen
Bulgaria is an agrarian country and this is not only a personal assertion or a statement, nor is it just a stand on the matter. In our country, for many years, there have been long traditions in the production of cereal plants and oilseed crops. In Northeast Bulgaria - General Toshevo region, in 1951, Dobrudzha Agricultural Research Institute was established, which is known today as Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute, and it performs selection in the field of wheat varieties and sunflower seeds production. The agricultural land in Bulgaria is cultivated and cropped with seeds of high quality, which results in good harvest of cereals and oilseed crops. The chief purpose of this paper is to establish the indicators that can guarantee a sustainable use of the land resources in our country for production of cereal plants and oilseed crops throughout a long period of development and to analyze the dynamics in the process of their use.
