Resumen
The development and improvement of solar equipment is a necessary step in the development of solar heating systems. One of the ways to develop solar air heaters is to use new materials for the production of solar absorbers. This expands the possibility of using nozzle and capillary-porous materials in contrast to liquid solar collectors. Development and research of air heating systems with equipment made of modern textile materials is relevant. For the manufacture of absorbers it is advisable to use textile materials. This will reduce the cost of solar collectors, as well as reduce their weight and capital costs. The absorber meets requirements for both solar thermal collectors and electric heaters: high absorption capacity of solar radiation; developed heat transfer surface; relevant physical properties: low mass, resistance to ultraviolet radiation, thermal resistance, low cost for cheaper solar system; sufficient electrical resistance. A combined solar-electric air heater has been developed, which combines two main elements of any solar system – a solar heat collector and an additional heat source, the absorber of which is made of carbon graphite knitted fabric. This reduces its cost and mass and allows them to be used on existing heating facilities without the construction of bulky supporting structures to accommodate solar fields. The combined solar-electric air heater can be used as an independent heat generator for heat supply systems. To use the proposed solar-electric air heater, it is necessary to heat its absorber with an electric current, so the material from which it is made must be electrically conductive, but have sufficient electrical resistance. The use of carbon-graphite knitted fabric allows the use the direct heating of the solar energy absorber by electric current due to the corresponding electrical characteristics. This article presents the results of an experimental study of the electrical resistivity of carbon-graphite knitted fabric. These studies allow determining the electrical power of the device regardless of the size of the device. The research results presented in the article can be used only for a certain type of carbon graphite knitted fabric.

The technical and energy characteristics of the most commonly used electrical braking systems are analyzed, their disadvantages are indicated. An electrical braking system with variable structure and DC motors with the best technical and energy performance is proposed. In the braking mode, the motors operate in series excitation, and the current in the excitation windings is controlled by a DC-DC converter. Thin-film transistors (TFT) usually exhibit non-uniform electrical characteristics fabricated by the identical process because of the formation of the grain boundary traps, bulk grain traps, interface states and some defects on channel region. All the traps and defects affecting the electrical characteristics of TFTs can be thermally and electrically activated. In this study, the temperature effect accompanying the horizontal and vertical electric fields stressing on continuous-wave green laser-crystallized (CLC) single-grain-like poly silicon TFTs (poly-Si TFTs), presenting the excellent effective electron mobility, up to 530 cm^2/V-s, was firstly investigated.

That is why the utmost attention must be paid to the issues of electrical safety. You need to understand how electric current affects the human body, the conditions for falling under dangerous voltage, measures to protect against electric shock. The article is of great practical importance both for those interested in electrical safety issues and for employees of enterprises in the mining and energy industries.

Resumen
Presented research is involved in excess electrical currents created when the silicon material contains cracks and fractures. We performed transport characteristics measurements and electrical noise measurement as well as sample visible and deep infra-red imaging. It turns out that mechanical induced defects are followed by specific electric characteristics. We observe crack-related local breakdowns and local overheating. It is also followed by the electrical current fluctuation in the 1/fform. All regions are thermally but also electrically stressed and the irreversible sample degradation originates. It could be pointed out that our detection methods are very sensitive and they could be also used for analyses of different materials.

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­The aim of this study was to analyse the influence of temperature on electrical characteristics of crystalline and amorphous photovoltaic (PV) modules in outdoor conditions at Nawabshah. The experimental setup was made over the roof of the departmental building. The climatic conditions of site were recorded with the help of HP-2000 Professional Weather Station in three different timings of the day, i.e. morning, noon and evening. The electrical characteristics of the PV modules were recorded with Prova-210 and module temperatures with Prova-830. The maximum intensity of global solar radiation was recorded at noon and ambient temperature in the evening and the relative humidity in the morning hours. It was observed that amorphous module got 0.7°C, 1.0°C and 1.6°C more average temperature than polycrystalline, thin film and monocrystalline modules respectively. The average maximum measured open-circuit voltage was noted from amorphous with 96.7% and minimum from thin film with 81.3% of their respective values on standard conditions, whereas, the average maximum recorded short-circuit current was produced by thin film with 64.9% and minimum by amorphous with 51.4%. The average maximum power was produced by polycrystalline and minimum by amorphous module. Resumen
This paper deals with EDM characteristics of newly develops electrically conductive ceramics. Titanium boride (TiB2) is widely used as die and mold materials because of its high hardness, high-temperature resistance and so on. The EDM characteristics of the titanium boride, such as electrode wear rate, removal rate and surface roughness were investigated. Experimental results show that EDM with low electrode wear rate is possible when copper electrode is used with positive polarity. The removal rate becomes much higher when graphite electrode is used with negative polarity.

In the paper, failure outage statistics in 6–10 kV overhead electric grids of one of the largest electric grid companies in the European part of the country were analyzed to clarify the reliability characteristics of their elements. Failure intensity and mean restoration time for covered and uninsulated overhead lines, low-oil and vacuum circuit breaker cells, power transformers and secondary electrical grid elements were obtained. The obtained reliability characteristics of elements should be used in the tasks of technical justification and selection 6–10 kV overhead electrical grid preferred structure.

In this paper we consider the possibility of modeling the performance characteristics of the electric drive with a vortex electric pump. The structure of the vortex electric pump studied for the experiment is considered, as well as its Q-H characteristic. To determine the optimal control limit of square-law characteristic of H = f (Q) we offer an ade-quate mathematical model of working Q-H characteristics of the electric vortex pump Pk 200. It is concluded that for studying and searching for optimal performances of the vortex pump Pk 200 the model of square-law characteristic H = f (Q) in accordance with the general expression for the working section can be applied within a certain range of values, i.e. the flow rate from Q1 (1,5) to Q2 (3,5) and the pressure from H1 (67) to H2 (30).

This paper presents the results of the experimental research on the electrical characteristics of two dissimilar thermoelectric power sources. Chromel-alumel and nichrome-constantan are the investigated types of thermocouples that are utilized as thermopower sources. Through the assistance of the collected data, experimental and theoretical studies of two equivalent thermopower sources are done. The first studied source is obtained by a parallel connection of the two types of thermocouples, and the second studied source is achieved by the parallel connection of two thermocouples of nichrome-constantan and a single thermocouple made of chromel-alumel. Theoretical studies of the two equivalent thermoelectric sources proved good repeatable precision of the studied results of experimental measurements.

Due to their excellent electrical insulation properties and processability, polymer materials are used in many electrical products. It is widely believed that space charge plays an important role for the electric field distribution, conduction, ageing, and electric breakdown of polymeric insulation. This paper reviews measurements and characteristics of space charge behavior which mainly determined by the pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) measurement technique. Particular interests are the effects of the applied voltage, the electrodes, temperature, humidity, microstructure, additives, and filler materials on accumulation, distribution, transport, and the decay of space charge in polymeric materials. This review paper is to provide an overview on various space charge effects under different conditions, and also to summarize the information for polymeric materials with suppressed space charge and improved electrical behavior.

This paper presents a method of 1394b bus transmission cable electric parameters testing and provides a reliable way in selecting transmission cable. This paper introduces the IEEE-1394b protocol for transmission cable of electric parameters and requirements. We set up platform for 1394 cable testing, taking four kinds of 1394 bare wire cable and cable with Quadrax connector for dielectric withstanding voltage, differential impedance and so on. Using this test method can accurately reflect the 1394 cable’s electrical characteristics.

This study examined the output electrical characteristics—current-voltage (I-V) output, threshold voltage, and parasitic capacitance—of novel gallium nitride (GaN) power transistors. Experimental measurements revealed that both enhanced- and depletion-mode GaN field-effect transistors (FETs) containing different components of identical specifications yielded varied turn-off impedance; hence, the FET quality was inconsistent. Establishing standardized electrical measurements can provide necessary information for designers, and measuring transistor electrical characteristics establishes its equivalent-circuit model for circuit simulations. Moreover, high power output requires multiple parallel power transistors, and sorting the difference between similar electrical characteristics is critical in a power system. An isolated gate driver detection method is proposed for sorting the uniformity from the option of the turn-off characteristic. In addition, an equivalent-circuit model for GaN FETs is established on the basis of the measured electrical characteristics and verified experimentally.

Polypropylene has been used in radio-frequency capacitors and has also started to be employed in cables as insulation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the electrical properties of polypropylene filled with natural clay as a nano-material. Polypropylene samples having 0%, 2% and 6% natural clay by weight were exposed to 60-Hz sinusoidal voltages at two different rates of rise. The breakdown voltage of each sample was recorded at these different ramp rates. Also, the Root-mean-squared (rms) current was measured as the voltage was increased across the test samples. The important findings of this study were (a) the breakdown strength of the natural nanoclay-filled polypropylene was higher than the unfilled polypropylene, and the optimum concentration of nanoclay appeared to be 2% by weight; (b) the current density as a function of the electric-field intensity indicated a non-linear behavior with saturation, and the saturation onset took place at a higher electric-field intensity in nanoclay-filled polypropylene, wherein 2% nanoclay seemed to be the optimum concentration as well for the onset electric field of saturation.

Wire electrical discharge machining is a material removal process of electrically conductive materials by the thermo-electric source of energy. This kind of machining extensively used in machining of materials with highly precision productivity. This work presents the machining of titanium alloy (TI-6AL-4V) using wire electro-discharge machining with brass wire diameter 0.5mm.The objective of this work is to study the influence of three machining parameters namely peak current, pulse off time and wire tension to cutting rate, material removal rate, surface roughness and kerf width followed by suggesting the best operating parameters towards good machining characteristics. A full factorial experimental design was used with variation of peak current, feed rate and wire tension, with results evaluated using analysis of variance techniques. Parameter levels were chosen based on best practice and results from preliminary testing. Main effects plots and percentage contribution ratios are included for the main factors and their interactions.

This paper introduces the electrical discharging characteristics of PCD based on experimental studies. The relationship between gap voltage, peak current and electrical resistance of various PCD materials is presented. The influence of peak current on the discharge waveforms is analyzed. The conclusion provides important information for the development of new generators specifically designed for the machining of PCD tools.

Resumen
An attempt is made to correlate electrical measurement results to specific defects in the dielectric stacks of high-k/metal gate devices. Defect characteristics extracted from electrical data were compared to those obtained by ab initio calculations of the dielectric structures. It is demonstrated that oxygen vacancies in a variety of charge states and configurations in the interfacial SiO2layer of the high-k gate stacks contribute to random telegraph noise signal, time-dependent dielectric breakdown, and the flatband voltage roll-off phenomenon.
