Introduction/Objective. Cardiovascular diabetic autonomic neuropathy (CDAN) mainly affects heart rhythm through sympathovagal imbalance. The objective of the study is to determine CDAN risk potential regarding electrical complications of acute myocardial ischemia (AMI), including admission glucose profile levels (AGP). Methods. Seventy-six patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into two age-matched groups related to the presence of CDAN, and the influence of AGP on electrical complications was estimated. Ewing?s tests were used for diagnosis of CDAN. Results. Patients wi

Cardiac manifestations are the effects of an electrical injury that could be life-threatening. Although it is rare, arrhythmias and myocardial tissue injuries are the two major cardiac complications that can happen after electrical injury. Lack of recommendation and review makes it confusing to physicians in managing electrical injury patients with cardiovascular complications. This article provides an overview of electrical injuries, the cardiac manifestations that can occur, and management of electrical injuries that focus on cardiac effects.

Resumen
Background/Objectives: Mastectomy is a surgical option for breast cancer when conservative treatment is unsuitable, and it is also performed prophylactically in high-risk women. Various surgical techniques can be used for mastectomy, including electrosurgery, which can cause thermal damage to tissues, reducing surgical precision and delaying wound healing. This study aims to compare electrical plasma surgery and hydrodissection, which appear to be the least traumatic methods, to determine the better option for performing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. Methods: Conducted at the “Brea

Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) occurs frequently, and the prognosis is unsatisfactory. As the gold standard of treatment, autologous nerve grafting has several disadvantages, such as lack of donors and complications. The use of functional biomaterials to simulate the natural microenvironment of the nervous system and the combination of different biomaterials are considered to be encouraging alternative methods for effective tissue regeneration and functional restoration of injured nerves. Considering the inherent presence of an electric field in the nervous system, electrically conductive bioma

Resumen
Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of hybrid ablation versus endocardial catheter ablation in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation. The study focused on observational research, encompassing both case-control and cohort studies, where the terms ‘prospective’ and ‘retrospective’ refer solely to the cohort study timeframes. Methods: A comprehensive search of the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases was conducted without any time restrictions. Primary outcomes measured were the long-term success and compli

Resumen
Background: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is associated with arrhythmic events which may lead to sudden cardiac death (SCD). A leading therapy for CPVT besides medical treatment with beta-blockers is the use of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD). For this paper we compared data from a pooled analysis to get further evidence about the complications of transvenous and subcutaneous ICDs. Methods: We gathered data from a search of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Cinahl. For our analysis, we chose 30 studies with a total number of 784 patient

Resumen
Background: Catheter ablation in patients with ventricular arrhythmias (VA), such as ventricular tachycardias (VT) or frequent premature ventricular complexes (PVC), is increasingly considered an effective and safe therapy when performed in experienced centers. This study sought to determine acute success rates and complication rates of ablation procedures for patients with VA in a Swiss tertiary care center. Methods: All patients who underwent ablation therapy for VT and PVC at the University Heart Center in Zurich, Switzerland, between March 2012 and April 2017 were included in this analysis
