ABSTRACT Coronal fractures of the anterior teeth are a common form of dental trauma affecting mainly children and adolescents. Trauma with accompanying fracture of anterior teeth is an agonizing experience for a young individual, which requires immediate attention, not only because of the physical disfigurement but also because of the psychological impact on the patient. Coronal fractures may be vertical or horizontal. Vertical crown fracture with pulpal involvement usually presents mild symptoms and pain. Pain is mainly due to the mobility of the fractured segment during function. This study

Most of the fractures are greenstick type in children, because of the presence of permanent tooth buds which hold the fractured mandibular fragments like glue. Hence, conservative management is preferred and the fractures heal well and rapidly in children. A detailed structural survey has been conducted on a fractured sedimentary rock formation in the St-Eustache quarry, Quebec, Canada, to supplement a hydrogeological study. The two main types of discontinuities in the quarry are horizontal bedding planes and vertical joints. The fracture network is classified as a stratabound network that could be considered as an equivalent porous medium (EPM) for groundwater flow for a volume of rock of 25 to 100 m3. Using detailed statistical data of the fracture network, a geometric model is used to infer a range of hydraulic conductivity values for the low

The goal of treatment is to restore the shape and function of affected tooth.Case report: This following case report described the conservative management of horizontal root fracture which was also displaced but somehow maintained its vitality. The affected tooth was initially stabilized and followed up in the subsequent appointments for evaluation of vitality that turned out to be vital, thus, preventing any

However bilateral patella fracture is even rarer (2-3% of all patella fractures) and is seen mostly in either dash board injuries or in different pathological conditions. A 21 year old male presented with bilateral patella fracture, where right patella was fractured due to RTA and the left one got fractured due to a fall while he was being helped for an X-ray for the first one. Bilateral tension band wiring was done and patient was being regularly followed up with good range of movement recovery.

Fracture of long bones in calves occupies a substantial proportion among musculoskeletal disorders. This is an acute traumatic injury warranting immediate management of surgical intervention for its correction. Metacarpal & metatarsal fractures are most common fractures in cattle of all age (Greenough et al., 1972). These fractures are frequently comminuted & open due to limited soft tissue supporting structures covering the bone (Turner, 1984 & Ferguson, 1982). Statistical data of long bone fractures in cattle reveals that metacarpal & metatarsal fracture occurs up to 50%, tib

Mandibular ramus fracture is the second least common fracture occurring in the mandible. The ramus is located at the congregation of the dentate and the non-dentate part of the mandible. It can get fractured in various patterns. Owing to the presence of the anatomical structures and the orientation of the fracture line, the treatment plan varies in each case. In this article, we have demonstrated a series of four distinct kinds of mandibular ramus fractures and its management with ORIF.

Object The management of odontoid fractures remains controversial. Evidence-based methodology was used to review the published data on odontoid fracture management to determine the state of the current practices reported in the literature. Methods The Medline literature (1966–1999) was searched using the keywords “odontoid,” “odontoid fracture,” and “cervical fracture” and graded using a four-tiered system. Those articles meeting selection criteria were divided in an attempt to formulate practice guidelines and standards or options for each fracture type. Evidentiary tables were constructed by

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To estimate the incidence and to describe the clinical results of the nonoperative management of vertical C2 body fractures. METHODS: An 8-year retrospective review of upper cervical spine injuries from the registry of a level I trauma center identified 21 patients with a vertical C2 body fracture. RESULTS: Sixteen coronally oriented Type 1 vertical C2 body fractures and 5 sagittally oriented Type 2 vertical C2 body fractures were identified. These fractures account for approximately 10% of the upper cervical spine fractures identified over this period of time. One elderly

Tibial plateau fractures are peri-articular knee fractures of the proximal tibia. The presentation is dependent on the mechanism of injury. The tibial plateau is the bony platform of the distal half of the knee joint, and is made up of a medial and lateral condyle separated by the intercondylar eminence. The presentation of tibial plateau fractures can vary greatly as a result of the bimodal mechanism of injury and patient characteristics. Injury to the pelvic viscera is also quite common because of the close proximity.
