Resumen
Society has become more aware of the negative environmental impact of the petroleum-based packaging materials (e.g. plastics) used in the food industry. Therefore, cleaner and more sustainable packaging with ecological zero-impact is in demand. One of the solutions for this problem could be the use of natural wax-impregnated paper. It has been recently demonstrated that wax obtained from arctic berries may be a good candidate for this application. This project is intended to define the properties of this wax which are essential for the food-packaging application and evaluate if berry wax can fulfil those requirements. For this reason, physical characterization of different natural waxes has been conducted and compared. On the one hand, it has been concluded that pure arctic berry wax presents similar thermal parameters to commercially available natural waxes. In addition, mechanical testing and barrier properties of paper substrates coated with beeswax and lingonberry have been successfully carried out. During the testing, wax-coated samples showed interesting results in terms of good barrier properties, which is the key factor to be a promising alternative for food packaging applications. Nevertheless, further research should be conducted in order to study other barrier properties and mechanical performance of these natural wax-impregnated papers. In addition, it would be of great interest to investigate more precise coating procedures in order to obtain the optimum way for coating paper substrates with natural waxes.

Resumen
Growing pressure on the packaging design to enhance the environmental and logistics performance of a packaging system stresses the packaging designers to search new design strategies that not only fulfill logistics requirements in the supply chain, but also reduce the CO 2emissions during the packaging life cycle. This thesis focuses on the packaging design process and suggests some improvements by considering its logistics performance and CO 2emissions. A Green packaging development model was proposed for corrugated box design to explore the inter-dependencies that exist among compressive strength, waste and CO2emissions. The verification of the proposed model unveils the significance of a holistic view of the packaging system in the packaging design process and reveals the importance of packaging design decisions on the logistics performance and CO 2 emissions. The thesis finally concluded that the packaging logistics performance should be considered in a packaging design process to explore the Green packaging design solution.

This research focuses on knowing how one of the attributes of a green product, As the packaging, It is of utmost importance when establishing the relationship with the trust that the consumer looks for when buying an eco-friendly product, since it is the first thing they will see at the point of sale or through a digital platform. The trend to opt for products that have a positive impact on the environment began in the early 1990s. This trend is known as green marketing and its objective is that companies create, produce and promote a type of product, with a positive impact on the environment and satisfy the needs of consumers. This is how a green product, an item produced with an environmental purpose even up to the last stage of its life cycle. Important part of a green product is its packaging which must also fulfil the promise of being pro environmental. This packaging must generate security and confidence in consumers, either through the design, materials or certifications that guarantee that it is a 100% ecological product. The importance of packaging generates, as mentioned above, a relationship of trust between the brand and the consumer, since it is through this attribute that expectations can be generated about whether it has an environmental performance or not.

Resumen
Abstract Purpose: The aim of this thesis is to explore the impact of environmental friendly wine packageson wine consumption in Sweden. While there are many different factors influencing this issue, the overall focus of this thesis has been on the perception of the quality of 'Green wine packaging'on behalf of the consumers. Method: A quantitative approach in form of an online survey was followed by an qualitativeapproach in form of semi-structured interviews. While the quantitative approach was the mainapproach, the qualitative approach was used for further interpretation. Conclusions: Despite a great environmental awareness and a great engagement in recyclingactivities in Sweden, the results of this study shows that consumer prefer wine in traditional glassbottles. Quality is considered to be the most important element when purchasing wine and itappears that consumer perceive a low level of quality of wine in Green packages which in turnlowers their aesthetical and hedonic expectations. The quality of the wine appear also to be moreimportant than the environmental issue.

Resumen
The growing e-commerce industry and online shopping is increasing the demand for transportation services world-wide. This expanding industry is beneficial for the economic aspects of society, but the transportation of packages is also causing major environmental impacts along the supply chain. The environmental impact of waste and emissions attributed to the manufacturing and shipment of packages are concluded by many scholars, stressing the importance of sustainable alternatives and innovations. Environmental concerns perceived by customers, governments and other stakeholders are increasingly pressuring companies to develop sustainable products, packaging and shipping. And yet, many customers still demand low-cost and fast shipping, making the development of green packaging and shipping uncertain as an investment. New legislations entering in effect year 2021 will successfully reduce the plastic waste in world-oceans and landfill, but at the same time limit the use of effective fit-to-use packaging which will inevitably result in larger packages occupying more space in transportation vessels. This study will examine the daily practice of e-commerce companies in Sweden, studying their knowledge and thoughts regarding green packaging development with an emphasis on the maximum fill rate of the secondary transit packaging level. Interviews with five companies were conducted, studying their daily practices. The analysis of the empiric data was conducted using transcriptions, to minimize bias, all analysis was collectively interpreted by the researchers. Our result show that companies consider low-cost, protected and fast shipping to be the most important demands of their customers, the companies view sustainability as a bonus rather than a competitive advantage. The results also suggest that air in packaging is viewed as extra protection for the goods, and the negative impacts are overseen. The available studies and prior works describing green packaging development actions are quite clear, however, the companies neglect the opportunities to develop green packaging due to economic barriers and perceived customer demands, thus creating a gap between practice and theory.

Resumen
In the context of the world's increasing environmental challenges and the rise of green consumerism, promoting sustainable consumer behavior is more important than ever. This study aims at extending the understanding of consumers' purchase  intention of  environmentally friendly cosmetic products. With a theoretical starting point in theories of green promotion and the theory of planned behavior, a total of ten hypotheses and sub-hypotheses were formulated to answer the research question how green promotional cues can be used to affect consumers' beliefs and increase purchase intention. Central concepts in the study’s constructed conceptual framework are intrinsic cues which represent concrete characteristics of a product such as ingredients and formula, and extrinsic cues which are attributes not present within the product itself such as packaging and brand. A quantitative approach using an online survey in an experimental vignette designed questionnaire generated responses from a sample of 325 participants in three treatment groups, and the data was subsequently examined through statistical analysis. The study’s main findings show that intrinsic cues have a stronger influence on purchase intention than extrinsic cues but that extrinsic cues seem to have a stronger influence on consumers’ subjective beliefs. The study provides implications on how cosmetic companies can use the insights generated by the study when developing promotional strategies for green cosmetics.

Resumen
The generalized theory of thermoelasticity was employed to characterize the coupled thermal and mechanical wave propagation in high performance microelectronic packages. Application of a Gaussian heat source of spectral profile similar to high performance devices was shown to induce rapid thermal and mechanical transient phenomena. The stresses and temporal gradient of stresses (power density) induced by the thermal and mechanical disturbances were analyzed using the Gabor Wavelet Transform (GWT). The arrival time of frequency components and their magnitude was studied at various locations in the package. Comparison of the results from the classical thermoelasticity theory and generalized theory was also conducted. It was found that the two theories predict vastly different results in the vicinity of the heat source but that the differences diminish within a larger time window. Results from both theories indicate that the rapid thermal-mechanical waves cause high frequency, broadband stress waves to propagate through the package for a very short period of time. The power density associated with these stress waves was found to be of significant magnitude indicating that even though the effect, titled short time scale effect, is short lived, it could have significant impact on package reliability. The high frequency and high power density associated with the stress waves indicate that the probability of sub-micron cracking and/or delamination due to short time scale effect is high. The findings demonstrate that in processes involving rapid thermal transients, there is a non-negligible transient phenomenon worthy of further investigation.

The adoption of green initiatives in supply chains is a basic requirement in the relationship between companies, which must take over the principles of environmental management, involving three important focuses: environment, strategy and logistics. Besides, this type of approach also seeks competitive advantages from better integration with the supplier network, greater acceptance of environmentally friendly products and the reduction of costs. The use of packaging is of great importance for society as it plays fundamental roles such as to guarantee the quality of the product and commercialize it. In this set of circumstances, there is also concern about the final destination of the packages and the impacts they cause on the environment. The purpose of this research is to verify if the adoption of green initiatives in the packaging supply chain affects the Environmental, Economic and Operational results of the companies participating in this chain, according to the perception of professionals who work at these companies. The study was conducted through a survey type research for professionals of different hierarchical levels who work at Brazilian industries in the packaging supply chain. It is a quantitative research, the answers were analyzed through statistical techniques. It is important to highlight that this research counts on the institutional support of ABRE - Brazilian Association of Packaging. The results pointed out in general, according to the professionals interviewed, that it is not possible to show that the adoption of green initiatives influence the achievement of Environmental, Economic and Operational results. The only exception found is the Green Purchase Initiative influencing the Environmental Performance of companies in this Supply Chain.

This dissertation investigated why Dutch millennials have a positive attitude towards sustainable packaging and whether this resulted into the purchase of sustainably packaged products in the FMCG industry. Data was collected by the use of a survey among 115 Dutch millennials. With the use of moderation variables (price, packaging quality, availability, recognition and perceived consumer effectiveness), certain interaction effects could be measured that influence purchasing decisions. Results showed that a positive attitude towards sustainable packaging results in a higher probability of purchasing sustainably packaged products. Furthermore, it was found that millennials are willing to pay extra for sustainable packaging. Also, more knowledge on how to recognize sustainably packaged products increases the likelihood of purchasing them.

Areas of impact apparently non financial have been taking a role of extremely prominence in the world of business. The great challenge consists of finding a balance between a low cost and a high standard of quality, considering aspects of sustainable development and complying with the society‟s claims. In this scenery one has to consider the increase number in consume and therefore waste of packaging and residues of the most diverse types. Thus, fields as the reverse logistic post-consume has been gaining distinction. Discarded bottles are ways of example of products which can be recycled and reinserted in the productive chain. But, for such it is necessary involvement of every agent who take part of this productive chain, consume, discard and packaging recycling. In the same way, the responsibility of suppliers by packaging collecting, materials replacement as well as a better reuse of its residues contemplate practices of reverse logistics and of a more comprehensive way that involve aspects of Sustainable Management of the Supply Chain. So, the main goal of this research consists of investigating restraints and opportunities in the practices of reverse post-consume of tow industries of different sectors. For such two segments were chosen: (i) production of coach body and coaches – company Bus S.A. e (ii) industry of beverages – company Soft Drink S.A. The aim is to study two contrasting situations under the productive chain perspective. In the first case, the focus on materials and packaging mainly of the chemical products used by the company and that return or should be returned to its suppliers. On the second case the research approach the production process, consumption, discard and discarded bottles‟ recycling, that is, the focus falls into mainly the practices related to external post-consumption. The method used was the case study, with interviews taking place and data were analyzed through the content and triangulation. The main results show that the reverse logistic practices are widely influenced by the productive chain agents‟ dispute and mainly by public policies of incentive and support to the right discard, recycling, production of recycled resin, selective collecting and consumer awareness.

Resumen
Active packaging by radical scavenging of the free radical species involved in the biochemical degradation of food is an innovative way to extend the shelf-life of a food product. Current drivers such as consumer’s demand for safer, “healthier,” and higher-quality foods have led to the development of new packaging materials which contain natural extracts. This kind of materials could act as free radical scavengers and thus permit to avoid the use of synthetic and dangerous for the human health antioxidant. In this work, multilayer polymeric materials of different types containing natural extracts of ginger, rosemary and green tea available in the market have been produced and tested. Production was carried out using technologies that could be compatible with the processes used at industrial level. For the test, the scavenging power of the materials was evaluated analysing the quantity of scavenged radicals from a gaseous stream containing in situ produced •OH radicals. The antioxidant power was also evaluated measuring the degradation rate in samples of fried potato chips packed with the materials produced by carrying out TBARs (thiobarbituric acid reaction system) assay. Finally, with the available data, an analysis of the compositions of the materials before and after the oxidation due to the absorbed •OH radicals was carried out, to understand which compounds, belonging to the natural extracts, was responsible of the observed scavenger action.

Resumen
Packaging occupies an indispensable part of everyday life. Even though packaging is meant to ensure that products arrive in excellent condition, so as to satisfy required needs, more often than not, consumers, as well as industrial users are more interested in the product itself than its packaging. However, if the packaging fails, the product is potentially unfit to serve its purpose. In order to meet the demands of industry, the packaging industry in Greece has evolved, mainly through new investment. This investing has boosted the market by adding quality to the products and affects corporate efficiency in a positive way. Industrial operations are subject to environmental legislation, such as the 94/62 EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive, which aims at optimising the various methods used in reprocessing the packaging materials after their having been used. The literature review enables comprehension of particular issues pertinent to the discussion on packaging, since it draws attention to various kinds of paper packaging. This research explores the role and importance of paper packaging in the supply chain and in proposing improvements that may ameliorate current packaging practices. This research project explores packaging operations, as well as the issues related to the packaging supply chain, with respect to the Greek market. Moreover, it seeks to identify the occurrence of impediments, which arise as a result of inner operating discrepancies between the European Union countries, regarding the implementation of Directives such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (94/62/EC). Key issues related to packaging are thoroughly scrutinised in this research. Among them, the relation between packaging and the environment is investigated, the overpackaging issue, along with packaging redesign, are examined, as they are all interrelated facets of the research, regarding the endeavour to enhance packaging performance. Therefore, packaging performance is examined in relation to some major aspects such as warehousing, storage, and transportation, as well as how to improve packaging expenditure. From this point of view, the issues examined are subsequently connected to the analysis of the current environmental problems and the ways to minimise them. This study includes not only a survey of both the market and the supply chain but also of the participants in them. A detailed case study of multiple respondents’ categories was developed for this reason. The data, which were collected through a specially designed questionnaire adjusted to the various categories of the respondents, were treated and analysed in order to assist the conclusions. Following the above, this research delves deeply into issues of paramount significance, such as overpackaging and packaging redesign, approaching them with laboratory methods. The research applies both theoretical methods, based on the literature, and common industrial practices. Originating from industrial sources, the data give evidence to the reliability of the results, adding insight into the issues investigated. Furthermore, this research points out the potential to significantly ameliorate a company’s packaging performance through analysing and conducting crucial modifications to packaging design. Problems such as the packaging legislation and the discrepancies related to it among countries, not only of the EU but also of those not belonging to it, are thoroughly investigated, showing the unstable market circumstances created due to the rivalry among countries, which stems from inadequate legislation.

In recent years, the debate about environmental preservation has gained importance. In order to respond to growing demands from the government, in the form of an ever more stringent legislation, and from the consumers, expressed by their preferences in buying situations, companies see themselves forced to watch carefully their environmental performance. Sometimes, though, it is feared that there are trade-offs between environmentally and economically oriented corporate actions. This dissertation puts packaging in the spotlight, because packages are, very often, closely identified with environmental problems, especially those related to urban waste issues. From the analysis of three cases in the Brazilian beer industry, it is sought here to identify how – and if – the “green” dimension has affected packaging decisions in consumer goods industries. Referring to bibliography on “green” marketing, “green” consumer behaviour, and sustained development, this research shows that “environmental correctness” and good economic performance are not necessarily antagonistic goals. More than that, it shows that the use of tools such as environmental accountability, life cycle assessment, and reverse logistics can help companies to obtain competitive advantage.

A corrosion process in metallic food packing can be started during the manufacturing of these, as well as throughout the period in which the food is in contact with it. The use of plant extracts as green inhibitors in protective coatings for aluminum can help reduce corrosion, and reduce concern about the risk of toxicity caused by synthetic inhibitors used industrially. Extracts of the species Solidago chilensis, known as arnica-Brazilian, abundant in Brazil and in greater concentration in the southern region of the country, have not yet been reported in the literature used as natural corrosion inhibitors, however, have properties and compounds that have been presented indicating corrosion efficiency. This study aims to develop a coating containing solidated chilensis as green corrosion inhibitor for use in packaging of aluminum alloys for food. To evaluate these coatings were conducted Potentiostatic Polarization tests (PP), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Infrared Spectroscopy in the region Fourier Transform (FT-IR) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Considering the possibility of change in resistance to corrosion due to some mechanical damage was assessed the adhesion of coating by mechanical strength tests for Dynamic-Mechanical Analysis (DMA). For the development of the surface were carried out anodizing, in order to corrosion protection and adhesion inhibitor and coating; and applied the natural inhibitor (Solidago chilensis) and the varnish coating, in order to protect against corrosion. The anodizing was performed in three different times 15, 20 and 30 minutes after the samples were immersed in inhibitor solution containing three different inhibitor concentrations (2.5, 5 and 15 g/L methanol) and finally were coated with varnish. The corrosion resistance and the efficiency of the inhibitor were evaluated by electrochemical tests. The modulus of elasticity of the samples were evaluated by DMA. The morphology of the samples were determined by AFM. The inhibitor composition and interaction between the chemical bonding inhibitor compounds, varnish, and anodization of aluminum are determined by FT-IR. The crystal structure of the samples were determined by XRD. The results showed that the best time of anodization as the corrosion resistance and the mechanical strength of the system was 15 min. The anodized samples at this time were chosen to be immersed in a solution containing the natural inhibitor. The electrochemical results indicated that the highest concentration of corrosion inhibitor (15 g of Solidago chilensis extract per L of solvent) had higher efficiency corrosion, 92.5%. The use of natural corrosion inhibitor with anodization and varnish coating reduced the degradation of the sample over time, potential increased corrosion resistance and polarization. The system stiffness decreased with the application of varnish but was not significantly influenced by p≤0,05 anodizing. These results indicated that the anodized Al containing Solidago chilensis extract as a corrosion inhibitor coated with varnish can be an interesting alternative in the food industry in use in metal packaging.

Resumen
This study aimed to get a better understanding for how packaging design, brand and certifications guide Swedish consumers when choosing between different ecological food products. The study further investigated how brands could use packaging design and a certification strategy as a way to advertising the brand and the food as ecological. By using both quantitative and qualitative methods in form of online survey and two semi-structured interviews, the study got a two-sided perspective on the subject. The results from the online survey collected answers from 100 Swedish respondents during a time period of two weeks. By comparing the packaging design of brands selling only ecological food products and brands selling both ecological and non-ecological food products, the later one more often used typical ecological design element on their packaging. From the survey a conclusion was made that there were a difference between what kind of information consumers wanted and what was important for them when choosing ecological food. Both certification and the word ecological on the package were listed highest regarding what was of most importance when choosing ecological food products and close thereafter was the brand listed. Nearly the same results was given regarding what information was of most importance, but here the brand came after factors such as origin and list of contents. Despite that, packaging design, certification strategy, and brand is still of outermost relevance for Swedish consumers when buying ecological food products.

This work of examination describes an environmentally oriented product development aimed to develop new packaging with improved environmental and sale aspects of the products from Primus Sweden AB. The report covers the design process from the first collection of facts to the final results with a description of all methods involved in the work. The focus has been on a clear environmental awareness and the report contains a deepening of the concept life cycle assessment (LCA) for product development. In the process, the consumers’ opinions of the brand Primus and environmental profiling formed the basis for the packaging to communicate the right values such as quality, technology, environmental awareness and adventurer’s first choice.

The deepening of the life cycle analysis shows that composting and other alternative treatment of the biological cycle is not possible to implement in a satisfactory way in the design process.

The work results in two final concepts. The first concept consists of a protective packaging made from natural fibres, which are vacuum - thermoformed to produce attractive and unique shapes. The raw material is waste from other industries which otherwise would be of no use. The packaging can be composted but also recycled among cardboard. The second concept is both packaging and commercial product in the form of a seat pad. An outer packaging is thus replaced with a seat pad with the same life span as a Primus stove. The material is recommended to be polyamide 6.6, which can be fully recycled and has qualities that meet all customer requirements. The material can be recycled among other plastics, but a take-back system is recommended to fully recover the properties of materials.

The two concepts follows the Cradle to Cradle philosophy in which polyamide 6.6 is part of the technical life cycle, and the natural fibre is part of the biological life cycle. A clear common layout have been developed to distinguish Primus and their products on the market.

Arbetet resulterar i två slutkoncept.

Egg is consumed in natura or processed and is used as raw material in various food products. The pasteurization and spray-drying processes are the main processing applied to the egg. Different processing conditions, packaging and storage can affect the lipid oxidative stability and may reduce the natural antioxidant protection of this product. The use of packages in which the egg has no contact with light and oxygen, storage at low temperatures, and the use of antioxidants can prevent lipid oxidation. Currently, synthetic antioxidants have been increasingly replaced by natural antioxidants or an association between synthetic and natural antioxidants is adopted by food companies. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) and green tea (Camellia sinensis L) are among the vegetables that present the highest antioxidant potential. Based on the above-mentioned considerations, the objectives of this research were: a) To standardize the method of phosphomolybdenum to evaluate the total antioxidant capacity of lipid fraction (CATL) egg; b)To investigate the effect of pasteurization and spray-drying on the antioxidant capacity and oxidative stability of the lipid fraction of egg; c) To assess the oxidative stability of fatty acids and the antioxidant capacity of whole egg subjected to pasteurization followed by spray-drying, stored at 5ºC for 90 days, d) To evaluate the by testing the concentration of antioxidants, oxidative stability of the lipid fraction of egg subjected to pasteurization and spray drying, added with a mixture of rosemary and green tea extracts and BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole); e) To optimize the concentration of the mixture composed of rosemary and green tea extracts and BHA to be added to pasteurized liquid egg (and further subjected to spray-drying) by using Response Surface Methodology; f) To investigate the effect of the addition of this optimized mixture of antioxidants on of the lipid fraction of spray-dried egg, stored at temperatures of 5 and 25°C for 90 days. The phosphomolybdenum method CATL of egg presented analytical suitability once it presented a high coefficient of determination (R2 = 0,9931), a regression equation expressed as y = 13.705 + 0.0808 x, a limit of detection of 0.005 mg α- tocopherol/mL, a limit of quantitation of 0.017 mg α-tocopherol/mL, a significant and high correlation coefficient (r = 0.9965), and the accuracy did not indicate dispersion around the mean. The CATL decreased with the progress of processing and the reverse was observed for the lipids, 7-CETO (7-ketocholesterol) and TBARS (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances). The pasteurized spray-dried egg (OIPA), which was kept under ideal storage conditions, remained stable in relation to moisture content, CATL and TBARS. In order to test the concentration of antioxidants to be added to OIPA, a total of 10 mixtures (rosemary, green tea and BHA) were assayed. The addition of antioxidants resulted in a higher oxidative stability of the lipid fraction as measured by TBARS, CATL, CT-F (reduction capacity by using the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent), AGL (free fat acids) and AS-233 (substances that absorb at 233 nm). The results showed that the response surface methodology (RSM) was adequate to describe the development of free fat acids and AS-233 in OIPA, and the RSM model proposed for AS-233 can be used for prediction purposes. The optimization of the antioxidant mixture based on the mathematical model proposed for AS-233 indicated that the mixture of 150ppm of BHA, 600ppm of rosemary extract and 300ppm of green tea extract was the best combination of antioxidants. The adopted storage conditions and the addition of antioxidants to OIPA were effective to maintain the response variables stable, and the stability was higher when OIPA was stored at 5°C. It was concluded that the method of phosphomolybdenum suitability presented analytically. The pasteurization did not affect the analyzed parameters (lipids, TBARS, CATL and 7-CETO), but the spray-drying caused a significant decrease CATL, and an increase in lipids, TBARS and 7-CETO. The hydration and the oxidative stability of OIPA remained stable for 90 days at 5°C, indicating that the packaging and storage conditions were effective. The RSM models proposed for free fat acids and AS-233 could be used for predictive purposes; however, the optimization procedure was performed taken into account only the AS-233 model. The OIPA stored at 5°C for 90 days, with or without the addition of the antioxidant mixture, was more stable in relation to hydration and lipid oxidation.

Abstract Buying, this thing is at any corner in our modern business world. The process and relationship of goods from producers to customers is very different from the past. How to use the design of package to accelerate the buying, that is the point for producers to think. Therefore, there are many skills and ideas for design of package. By the spread thinking of “green issue”, environmentally friendly design is also important for designer to consider. A.The goal of our research is investigating how the ideas of using green package design reality, then making case studies, digging out the concept of”green” in process of package design. Finally, using the concept to make the deigns is purpose. B. The range of the review study contain packaging design, green packaging design, and the design for paper products which common use in the design world, then discussing and summing found: (A) The elements of the package design is to identify, color, symbol, display, memory and functions, and showing through color, shape, graphics and text. (B) The primary spirit of the green packaging design is to create a "closed loop", like "make-to-make" of the practice, and make the implementation by 3R (reduction, reuse, recycling), etc.. By the support of citation, we can understand the relationship of paper packing production with green cycle. Then, using the better design of paper packing can induce closer recycle to make much “green”. The third part of our research focuses on case study. We analysis the case:"2012 Taipei packaging green magic”, Taipei product packaging Assistance Program. The following is our result. For the idea of green packing to the real market, we think that the approach rate is still need to improve.Appearance of goods is very important, it transmit the green idea, attract the consumers, access to win in the business world. The green packing not only focuses on reduce the impact after consume, but also need to reduce the produce in the source, or try to use more green material. According to discuss of information from citation and case study, we design the packing and analysis the result. Here sums up our found. Besides the choice of material, the designers should try their best to give consumer a green think in the invisible message, and increase the focus to protecting environment issues; it will make better impression to the company. It is benefit to both, company and consumer. After reduce the source material and the environment impact, it will cause many limit on the design, such as simplification of the structure, material savings and principles for the use of a single material. The designers need to spark their idea to overcome the difficult and make the simply design, which is in keeping with “green”. On the level of green packing design, cases in case study or our designs after analysis, they cannot reach the 100% approach rate in real business world. The main reason is due to the different requires of properties qualities, sales demands of the product itself and the packaging design. Although the achieving proportional to the degree of product packaging green. But it will still be affected because the product or brand itself demands of.

Resumen
Dissertação de mestrado em Engenharia de Polímeros
Over the years, plastic industry has been growing, and plastics are present in our daily basis. Synthetic polymers, due to their excellent properties (low cost, versatility, weight, among others), have been extensively used in a wide range of applications, especially in packaging production. Although the use of synthetic polymers has proven to be benefic, their accumulation in the environment has been one of the main causes of environmental issues, since they are extremely resistant to degradation. One of the alternatives for this problem has been the incorporation of biodegradable polymers of natural origin to replace synthetic polymers, in particular in the production of packages with a short life-cycle. At the same time, population growth and constant demand for quality, safety and healthy food products contributed to the development of new food packaging systems. The amount of food waste generated along the supply chain also played an important role in the development of these new systems. Thus, new approaches were developed in the manufacture of packaging, being active packaging one of these newer systems. This type of package interacts with the surrounding environment contributing to the preservation of foods’ properties and increasing their shelf-life. This dissertation was focused on the development of a material with application as active food packaging, based on polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable polymer, to which was added green tea extract (GTE), in order to confer antioxidant properties. The compatibility between PLA and GTE was evaluated by producing mixtures of both materials in the melt. After this compatibility study, films of the mixture were produced by using blown film extrusion. Different amounts of GTE were added to PLA to evaluate its influence on the films’ antioxidant capacity. The produced materials were analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The films’ mechanical properties were evaluated, as well as their antioxidant capacity and water-vapor barrier properties. The results showed that the addition of green tea extract confers antioxidant capacity to the films, which is dependent on the quantity of GTE added. It was observed that films containing GTE have lower thermal stability and mechanical properties when compared with films without GTE. Nevertheless, they showed improved water-vapor barrier properties. These films proved to be efficient in the preservation of food, including apple, potatoes and smoked salmon, inhibiting oxidative phenomena that result in their spoilage.

As the market trend changes rapidly, how to attract customers’ attention to buy their products when customers are making their purchasing decision towards so many different products has become a crucial point for manufacturers. This study was carried out by means of literature review and questionnaire survey using the packaging of green tea drinks from current domestic market as the subject. The purpose of this study is to identify consumer-preferring elements in design of green tea drink packaging by studying consumer opinions toward the packaging of green tea drinks. It hopes to provide the industry a reference for the packaging design. The results revealed that the main consumers of green tea drinks are 20-29 females and most consumers purchase one to two cans (bottles) per week at least, and flavor, price and packaging design are the factors influencing their purchasing decision. Besides, more than half consumers buy the product solely due to like its packaging. For the packaging design elements, pattern design, color matching and the character design of product name attract consumers’ attention most. Furthermore, linear and geometrical abstract pattern gets most attention. For the color schemes, using yellow or orange colors can also obtain consumers’ recognition except using green color. Moreover, a packaging design with a polyhedron form, a tradition ink painting pattern in four to seven different colors, background in warm colors and a product name in traditional calligraphy can attract consumers’ preference the most.

Environmental protection is an issue that is becoming more and more important in today’s society, and thus has opened opportunities for businesses to exploit this new trend. Companies have responded in producing products that are more environmentally friendly, and this has since spread toward production, logistics, marketing, operations, and even packaging. This study will focus at examining packaging. Individuals are also becoming more and more knowledgeable about these trends, and are believed to be shifting towards demanding products that fall in line with the trends. Self-congruity refers to the way an individual identifies who they are with the attributes of a specific product and brand. The aim of this study is therefore to examine how self-congruity, and consumer green knowledge affects attitude, and in turn, how attitude affects purchase intention. This study will also compare an Asian and Western perspective, along with environmental cue. The final respondents of this study composed of 403 respondents with 392 being valid, of whom 199 are individuals from a Western cultural background, and the other 193 being individuals from an Asian cultural background. Each culture samples consisted of a half for with and half without environmental cue. This study uses the LISREL technique testing the responses with and without environmental cue. SPSS testing was used to test the significance of culture. This research found that (i) Self-congruity does play a significant role in determining attitude for both groups with and without environmental cue (ii) Consumer green knowledge also has a significant impact on attitude toward green packaging for both groups with and without environmental cue (iii) For both groups: with and without environmental cue, attitude does have a significant positive impact on purchase intention. (iv) Self-congruity has a direct strong and positive relationship with purchase intention. (v) Consumer green knowledge does not have a significant positive relationship with purchase intention, but rather needs attitude to serve as a mediating variable. (vi) There exists a significant difference in self-congruity, green knowledge, attitude, and purchase intention based on the culture of origin.

With the concept of aging and sustainable management spread to the world, the design of “humanistic and sustainable development” has become a global consensus where “universal design” and “green packaging design” are the focus in today’s design development. According to the research on the evaluation index of universal green packaging design, this study explored the results of the evaluation index of the application of universal design and green packaging design to gift packaging design, and established a suitable checklist of universal green packaging design evaluation index. The purpose of this study was to enhance product packaging design and added value through the combination of universal and green concepts, making universal concept and sustainable development a life design policy. The study was conducted in four phases. In the first phase, an exploration of literature analysis was made to understand the current status and trend of universal design and green packaging design. The second phase was about expert interviews and questionnaire surveys, and with the judgment sampling method, six experts were invited to conduct in-depth interviews, through which the green packaging design evaluation index project was obtained. Questionnaires were used to test the public and design students so as to obtain their perception of general concept and green packaging design. In the third phase where design and verification were implemented, the universal green packaging practice production was designed to verify the tested works through course teaching. The fourth phase was the phase of survey results and conclusions where evaluation indicators project and evaluation data of the universal green packaging design were obtained through the questionnaire survey of packaging design works. Conclusions and recommendations were provided here. According to the results of this study, among 120 people interviewed, 69% of people understand universal design; 64.2% know green packaging design; 95.4% support green packaging design; 47.7% focus on whether or not to implement green packaging design. In addition, the top three most environmentally friendly factors of green packaging design are recyclable and reusable, environmentally friendly and able to be converted to other functions after the use. The top three factors which are the most unfriendly to the environment are the packaging materials that are not easy to recycle, a large amount of packaging materials that are used, and too many types of packaging materials that are used. According to the survey results of 94 design students, it is learned that 79% understand the green packaging design. Also, the top three factors of environmental protection are the packaging materials that can be recycled and reused, the packaging that can be converted into other functions and the recycled environmental protection packaging materials that are used. The top three factors which are the most unfriendly to the environment are complex packaging materials, the materials that are easy to pollute the environment and too many packaging materials. Through expert interviews and questionnaires, a total of 9 evaluation indicators and 35 evaluation items were obtained to establish a universal green packaging design evaluation indicator form, based on which the verification of design survey is conducted. Finally, the result shows that “ingenuity”, “resource” and “pollution” are the common evaluation indicators for universal green packaging design. Meanwhile, universal green design evaluation indicators establishment expectation can provide a reference for relevant enterprise, unit or designer, making the combination of universal concept and green design overcome the limitations of packaging design in order to enhance the added value of packaging design and move towards the greening country of universal design concept.

Packaging always plays a silent salesperson role in the sales of products in the first contact, especially green products, the customers first impression of product packaging often determines the evaluations of greenness of products. Drawing on theories of processing fluency, the authors argue that green products packaging characteristics (color, material and environmental labeling) will impact on green purchase intention. They present three studies that support the hypotheses and explore how green products packaging characteristics influence consumer’s purchase intention, including the mediating role of green perceived value and moderating role of environmental cognition. The experimental results show that green product packaging characteristics can make consumers perceive higher green value, improving their green purchase intention. To specific, green color is better than red, fiber material is better than plastic, and green claims is better than no green claims. Meanwhile, the consumers environmental cognition also plays a significant moderation role. When the consumers environmental cognition is high, the impact of these packaging characteristics will be more obvious, but when the consumers environmental cognition is low, the impact will be weakened or even vanished. The authors conclude the article with managerial and public policy implications such as advice for firms on where to make green investments for maximum consumer impact and insight for public policy makers on the need for consumer assistance in improving environmental cognition.

This research aims at understanding packaging design by using natural materials. This research also targets at providing suggestions for natural materials and green packaging design approaches. I hope this research could benefit designers on their process of design, and make green packaging application become more critical and prevalent. Objectives of this research are as follows: The first objective is to study the applications and types of natural material packaging and analyze packaging design methods. The second objective is to understand the relation of green packaging and natural materials. Also, to conclude the natural materials packaging which achieve the standards of green design. The third objective is to providing suggestions for natural materials’ green packaging design and hoping this would serve as a prototype for packaging designers’ design process. This research proceeds with three different stages. The first stage is to collect related information, then picture and build database for the information. Moreover, interviewing with professional packaging designers could understand the designers’ perspectives about natural material usage and green packaging. By doing so, we could know the actual conditions of applying natural materials on packaging design. The second stage is to categorize and analyze patterns, styles and color implementations. Also, we organize the key points of interview results. The third stage is to integrate all the information we gained, and turn them into representative results. The conclusions of this research are as follows: There are several products that utilize natural materials as packaging: (1) Products that target at organic and natural needs from costumers. (2) Products that target at connecting with local culture. (3) Products that serves as luxury goods. We should be cautious about the following points when design packaging so that the natural material packaging meets green design standards. As for packaging structure: (1) Increase the strength and protection of packaging; use creative ideas to decrease the volume and attachment level of packaging. Turn complexity into simplicity. (2) Choose recyclable and single-texture materials as packaging elements. Also, we have to put whether the materials are decomposable or not as one of our considerations. Decrease the complication of packaging for easier recycling process in the future. (3) Add potential reuse possibilities to packaging materials. By doing so, we expand the using time of the substances. As for packaging design: (1) Reduce printing surfaces and use eco-friendly print. (2) Eliminate labels; use tags or eco-friendly tapes instead. At the same time, apply eco-friendly or natural materials on design providing deeper meaning to packaging. For example, cultural and creative industry merchants and organic products are popular recently because they both add natural materials to packaging design for presenting nature feelings and connections with local culture.

This study was to investigate the impact of green products and green packaging on consumers purchasing behavior. So we can know how the packaging style of products effect the consumer purchasing behavior in real terms. Studies have shown that there are more than 90% of the consumers have correct perception for green products, but the other consumers with poor concepts of green products should be given with more enhancement and guidance. Most of the consumers are based on the precondition of environmental and health for buying green products. According to our research, 48.6 % of consumers want the package of green products to emphasize that products are easy to dismantle and recovery. And 36.2 % of consumers want to emphasize that labels are easy to know and read. For those reason, the manufacturers should pay special attention to the packaging, for that they can stimulate the consumer’s desire for buying .Therefore consumers would pay more attention toward (attach more important to) the environmental protection and usage (easy of use) (for using), not (but do not) care about the overall packaging (style) and discount. Up to 41.9% of consumers buy green products from convenience stores. So manufacturers can build a convenience store as the main market for special promotions, and enhance the general public acceptance in buying (and to attract consumers to buy) the green products. From the research, the most of consumers usually purchase green products are paper products (ex. recycled paper category) and they accounted for 69.5%. And plastic products accounted for 47.9 %, cleaning supplies accounted for 42.2% and electrical and electronic products for energy efficient accounted for 38.4%.From the questionnaire, Up to 86.3% of consumers believed that there are no differences in the quality and functionality between the green products and general products. But only 13.7 % of consumers believed the quality and functionality of the green products have significant difference with general products. So manufacturers of green products should pay special attention to upgrade the product quality and function. And that can enhance consumers to buy. The study also found under ages, educational levels and occupational differences, that consumers also attend differently. Particularly in area of economically convenience, and recycling.

The issue of environmental awareness has aroused our attention to the environment and ecology, promoted green environmental protection to reduce the impact on the environment by reducing production and consumption patterns. In the pursuit of sustainable operation, enterprises can use the green supply chain to create a new opportunity and reduce production costs to improve economic profits. Green packaging materials help us to reduce the consumption of resources and energy, reduce damage to the ecological environment and help protect environmental natural resources. Therefore, this study is aimed to evaluate key factors and select good green suppliers of packaging materials. For the selection of green suppliers of packaging materials, we have to consider the factors, such as product manufacturing, design, management, personnel costs, raw material costs, friendly environmental materials, product reliability and stability. From discussing the relevant literatures of green packaging materials and suppliers, we integrate the key factors for the selection of green packaging materials suppliers, and collect the dimensions and criteria of questionnaires through expert interviews. In order to filter out the dimensions and criteria for selecting green suppliers of packaging materials, the fuzzy Delphi method based on double triangles of fuzzy numbers are used to integrate the opinions of experts. The gray zone verification method effectively checks whether experts have a consistent convergence effect in recognition to reach a consensus. The decision-making laboratory analysis method is used to analyze the causal relationship between the various criteria and their relevance. Developed the DEMATEL-based ANP through the combination of DEMATEL and ANP, the DANP evaluation model is used to calculate the weight value and the order of importance of each evaluation criterion. This study conducts empirical research and analysis, they estimate the relative weights of each evaluation item, and calculate the important degree of dimensions and criteria. The indicators ordering of the green suppliers in the packaging materials industry is: "production technology", "green", "customer service”, “product cost”, “product quality” and “order delivery.” The results of weights and the important degree of the indicators will be provided references for the green supplier of packaging materials industry.

The research is discussing about the influence of cosmetics green package design and green consumption behavior intention to teacher’s green consumption teaching belief among teachers of elementary school in Chiayi county. A total of 500 copies of self-made “questionnaire of the influence of cosmetics green package design and green consumption behavior intention to teacher’s green consumption teaching belief ”were sent out to teachers associated with elementary school in Chiayi county. The teachers were selected by the method of “stratified random sampling” so that difference in school size and location can be included in the population. There were 480 valid samples obtained with an effective ratio of 96%. The surveys were analyzed by statistical methods including descriptive statistics,T-test, ANOVA, Tukey’s Post-hoc comparison and Pearson’s related analysis. The teacher’s green consumption teaching belief can be categorized into three important factors with factor analysis method-“the assessment and progress of teaching ”, ”knowledge and learning concetion”, ”teaching taskes”.The green consumption behavior intention of elementary school teachers is positive, and it’s variation can be explained up to 61.2% by using the theory of planned behavior. Of the variables, ”perceived behavioral control” is the most important factor, followed by “subjective norm”. The elementary school teachers hold positive attitudes both on the cosmetics green package design and green consumption teaching behavior intention, and the degree of the cosmetics green package design and green consumption behavior intention have a significant effect on teacher’s green consumption teaching belief in the linear regression model. Significantly higher scores on performance are taken by the teachers who are older and participated in the workshops of environmental protection activities and studies in all scales. Cross-analysis also illustrates that the older elementary school teachers have higher inclination to participate environmental protection activities, and the teachers who have experiences of environmental protection have higher inclination to participate environmental protection studies.

Packaging is not only the marketing tool for the first sight of customer but also is an important factor. Perceived value results from an evaluation of the relative rewards and sacrifices associated with the offering. Before the festival, it is the best time to give gifts, and various types of gift boxes are also available for purchase by consumers, so many packaging garbage is also produced. According to Taiwan's regulations on restricting over-packaging of products, there are five main categories of control objects, and processed food gift boxes are one of them. Also bird’s nest gift box is one of significant position in the gift box market. This study takes the boxed gift as an example. This research utilized an experimentation methodology to design over-package(A) and package(B) questionnaire. Allow respondents to fill in the stimulator A and stimulator B questionnaire in the experimental guidance. To discuss packaging and perceived value influence to green purchase intention. This study used convenience sampling method. In total, 337 copies of questionnaires were collected, and 315 valid questionnaires. The result found, although respondents were paying attention to the environmental protection issue, they are more attached to the perceived value. Therefore, Perceived value shown as the most important factor to influence the purchase decision of the consumer when product packaging and perceived value interact to each other. This survey came with suggestion that enterprise can complying with government environmental regulations, and strengthened the perceived value of products.

The existence of packaging is necessary in our life. Traditionally, packaging is regarded as an accessory marketing decision. It has to attract people''s attention and make the products leave a good impression on people. That is why a variety of packaging everywhere in life, which causes serious garbage problem simultaneously. However, Environmental Concern is in vogue today. The concept of “Green Packaging” has been duly noted gradually, too. Each country, legislates regulations in place of persuasions. Its propose is not only about Environmental Concern, but also build an uncontested trade barrier. Therefore, the packing issue influences the development of industry. High technology electronics industry is an important economic lifeline for our country. Therefore, a better set of techniques and aspects of green packaging design is desired. In this article, we sorted out important aspects and elements of green packaging design from literature review and experts opinions. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to design the hierarchy of the problem. We expected to extract important techniques and aspects of green packaging design of high technology electronics industry from this survey and to be the reference when electronics industry implements green packaging design. The results show that in the four aspects, each country’s regulations are the primary considerations. In the third hierarchy, it shows that the packaging is an important role in the transportation process for electronics industry. A good green packaging is not only environmentally friendly, but also transportation costs saving.

Resumen
The aim of this thesis was to develop and evaluate a Clean and Green Decision-Support System by exploring the practice of a large Australian Winery and developing a decision-support system that would facilitate movement towards clean and green wine product packaging. This thesis took into account the relationship between wine manufacturers and their packaging suppliers as shared information between these parties is central to the National Packaging Covenant (NPC) which is an outcome of concern for the environment. This concern has had a dramatic impact upon this relationship in the wine industry because each has to comply with Government regulations and customer demand for environmentally friendly packaging.
A review of the current knowledge about New Product Development revealed that the implicit emphasis within this body of research was upon modification of existing products to reduce the cost of production and/or increase sales volume. Many authors recognised the impact of external demands upon the new product environment yet there was little inclusion of one of the forces driving these external demands- the need for 'Clean and Green' production processes. It was argued here that the inclusion of clean and green in models of New Product Development was necessary for company sustainability because of the pressure from Government and from customers for environmentally friendly products.
The notion of a sustainable competitive advantage underpinned the importance of meeting customer needs and introduced the need to develop unique attributes that cannot be easily copied by competitors. The intense competition in the Australian wine industry made this an important consideration. While a significant number of studies had linked sustainable competitive advantage with New Product Development, studies that incorporate these concepts within the clean and green context were extremely limited. It was further recognised that any theoretical model developed only from the manufacturer's perspective and which overlooked the perspectives of suppliers, customers and the Government would be flawed because it may limit the implementation of clean and green practices. Therefore, there existed a gap in knowledge about how a company could incorporate clean and green practices into their New Product Development and remain competitive.
An exploratory, qualitative case study based upon Yin's (1994 and 2003) case study methodology was undertaken. Data were triangulated through open-ended semi-structured interviews, archival documents and literature reviews. The interviews explored the key drivers, key barriers and key relationships that may influence the consideration of clean and green product development. Seventeen participants were interviewed; eight from the suppliers, eight from the case study organisation and one from the wine industry association. Content analysis was used to analyse the interview transcripts and the archival documents. The findings confirmed that the relationship between the supplier and manufacturer was very important and symbiotic in nature and that each was concerned with customer demands and Government regulations. This was related to the drivers which were all aimed at the Winery retaining or improving its sustainability in the market place. The barriers were found to be communication (and the related problem of sharing information), which when operating smoothly could facilitate the process but when not (as in this case), provided a strong barrier to implementation of clean and green practices in the wine industry. The analysis was used to develop an eleven step easy-to-use Clean and Green Decision-Support System which calculated a final score for each wine packaging product. This system was then evaluated using data about wine bottles that was collected during the data collection phase. It was found that the Clean and Green Decision-Support System developed as part of this thesis provides easy-to-understand output that allows the decision-maker to choose the product that is as close as possible to the ideal clean and green product.
This thesis contributes to knowledge in three ways. Firstly, it contributes by theoretically linking the constructs of clean and green, New Product Development and sustainable competitive advantage to develop a new theoretical model which also incorporates the various perspectives of key stakeholders. Secondly, it contributes to knowledge of industry practice by explicating the issues faced by a Winery when seeking to implement Clean and Green New Product Development. Finally, it contributes to professional through the development and evaluation of a Clean and Green Decision-Support System in a real-life setting that has immediate practical application. This simplifies the decision-making related to evaluation of clean and green products and helps to resolve the communication problem somewhat by clearly identifying what information is needed and the source of that information thereby further facilitating the implementation of clean and green practices.
Opportunities for further research exist in the areas of expanding upon the scope of the study to improve its generalisability; further exploring the Winery-supplier relationship, particularly in regard to the development of symbiosis; and in the further development and simplification of the process of obtaining the information needed for the Clean and Green Decision-Support System.

With the development of living standard and the rise of education nowadays, consumers’ behaviors are different from before. And the emergence of green movement also brings some new rules and restrictions in the goods production and exploitation. Furthermore, since every country is promoting the idea of green consumption now, consumers start to concern about the texture and environmental characteristics of products when purchasing. In order to increase sales and promote the value of products, sellers tend to cover products completely in excessive paper or other materials. These extravagant materials are usually unnecessary and cause the environmental pollution. Since the concept of green packaging becomes popular recently, consumers start to concern about if the products meet the environmental protection criteria. In the process of this research, I’ll use Factor Analysis and Frequency Distribution to analyze consumers’ questionnaire, discussing consumers’ need to green packaging. In the course of studying, make use of analytic approach of the green expense cognition and the manner using the factor analytic method regarding the green packing design between factor relations, and obtains the influence factor inducts the green packing to obtain designs the new element, via the analysis at two stages, its result new element invagination packing design, finally by this result establishment green packing design essential factor criterion. Research Research this purpose, seeking the best way and factors of green packaging design of wedding cookie products, promotion domestic green tendency, then promotion world competitive power.

Going “green” is noticeably becoming a major consideration for the manufacturing of electronic devices to preserve our natural resources in the world and to achieve a sustainability generation in future. For this reason, we have developed an interest in the three main objectives for this research thesis are as follows: Part I: Ionic Content Effect of Rice Husks-derived Porous Carbon–Silica on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Epoxy Composites In this study firstly focused on the preparation and characterization of a low ionic content of the agricultural waste rice husks-derived porous carbon-silica by using a simple post-hydrothermal processe after pre-acid-hydrothermal through and pyrolysis under nitrogen condition for electronic packaging demand. The ionic content of [Cl-], [Na+], and [K+] of the BRH sample respectively were 4.3, 9.8, and 9.0 ppm after further post-hydrothermal process. XRD diagram shows that the structure of the calcined BRH material is in amorphous form, which is non-toxic to humans. As green filler, the uniformly dispersed BRH filler in the epoxy matrix through hydrogen bonding of the silanol group of silica. An improvement of 147% in storage modulus, 49% in CTE and 142% in thermal conductivity of the epoxy/preBRH composites at 46 wt.% filler content, compared with neat epoxy. Part II: Carbon Content Effect of Rice Husks-derived Porous Carbon–Silica on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Epoxy Composites In this study, bio-based porous carbon-controllable carbon-silica composite was easily prepared by using post-prolysis treatment under air condition. As green filler, the uniformly dispersed BRH filler well interact with the epoxy matrix which resulting in the thermal conductivity and thermal-mechanical properties of the epoxy/preBRH composites improved as increasing carbon content. At 29 wt.% of filler content, the epoxy composites exhibit lower curing temperature (148°C), lower CTE (42 ppm/°C), higher Tg (123°C), higher storage modulus (4059 MPa), and higher effective thermal conductivity (0.290 W/mK). Part III: Microwave Treatment Effect of Rice Husks-derived Porous Carbon-Silica on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Epoxy Composites This study focused on the effect of microwave treatment of the postBRH filler and its function in epoxy matrix for electronic packaging applications. XRD result indicated that partial SiC formation after microwave treatment. As green filler, an improvement of 178% in thermal conductivity, 149% in storage modulus and 17.6°C in Tg of the microwave treated-postBRH/epoxy composites at 40 wt.% of filler content, compared with neat epoxy. By modeling, the microwave treated-postBRH/epoxy composites at the same filler content have better stress reduction and thermal performance than commercial silica filled underfill also have verified. In brief, the rice husks-derived carbon-silica, can serve not only as reinforcing agent but also as thermal transport medium used in epoxy composite, is a green and high-performance filler for this purpose.

Emerging wide band gap semiconductor gallium nitride (GaN)-based high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) technology has the potential to make lower loss and higher power switching characteristics than those made using traditional silicon (Si) components. Heteroepitaxial Lateral GaN on Si device does not have the high thermal conductivity where high temperature power drive operation is the primary parameter of interest. GaN on Si has difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) at the epi interface, which can be an issue during high power cycling. Thus, the packaging design of the component must have good thermal management. Since thermal management is extremely important for GaN high power applications, a hybrid integration of the GaN HEMTs onto a multi-layer AlN/Mo/AlN carrier substrate is proposed. The coefficient of thermal expansion of Mo material is closed to GaN, lateral shear stress can be minimized between the multi-layer GaN module. Effective control over the device temperatures with multi-directional heat dissipate path is necessary to guarantee component performance and reliability. This research uses thermal simulation (Ansys Icepak) to investigate the multi-layer GaN module heat distribution, and in combination with experimental results using Infrared thermography (IR) to verify thermal simulation results.

Resumen
Consumers’ concerns with the environment lifted sustainability to become a higher priority in their shopping habits. Companies try to respond to this green demand, but their communication is failing, and consumers cannot effortlessly differentiate a green from a nongreen product on the shelf. An extensive literature on green marketing and green products has been conducted over the last years, yet there is relatively little research on the role of packaging as an influencer of environmental perceptions. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate how visual stimulus of a package can enhance consumers’ perception of eco-friendliness. Hence, we have conducted an experimental research to analyze packaging elements such as the material and color (study 1) and presence of an environmental claim (study 2). Through four online questionnaires, with a total of 456 participants, we demonstrate two main conclusions: first, how the material of a package can influence the perception of an eco-friendly product and the importance of the combination with an environmental claim, and second, by presenting two different types of the color green (light and dark) to the participants, if its contrast has an impact on being perceived as eco-friendly.
