With the development of the world economy, there is a growing emphasis on coordination with the surrounding environment and sustainability. The protection of the ecological environment and sustainable development has become the most pressing issues facing countries around the world when we has into the 21st century. Based on this situation, various fields are more and more emphasis on energy conservation and protection of nature, the traditional packaging materials and design obviously can not meet this requirement. So it is spurred to take full account of environmental design packaging with select packaging materials, explore a new model and method. Therefore spending on between the environmental pollution and market conflict. The designers and engineers must work toward the long-term development goals of protecting the environment and resources, it also requires a new environmentally friendly packaging design with new environmentally friendly materials match, both as an important integral part of packaging is dispensable not give up on the design considerations, to fully consider the aesthetic psychology of buyers can not only consider the functional, and also can not give up too much to satisfy consumer aesthetic of functional and environmentally friendly standards. Therefore, we need to fully study the basic demands of the modern green packaging materials and modern packaging design, give full consideration to the practical application of the environmentally friendly materials in the design.

With growing concern over environmental issues, the effect of green design on consumer behavior is becoming increasingly more important. We established a framework based on extant research and further proposed that there are five dimensions (i.e., environmental protection, safety, packaging design concept, environmental identification, and convenience) that influence consumers' green trust, in turn, facilitates green brand attachment. In this study we applied structural equation modeling, and data were collected from 286 Taiwanese consumers. The results suggest that green packaging design is a strong predictor of green trust, which enhances green brand attachment. Moreover, green trust is an effective mediator between green packaging design and green brand attachment. The findings help fill the gap in the literature regarding the relationships among, green packaging design, green trust, and green brand attachment.

Resumen
Plastic packagings are widely used for several food products. Considering the relatively short service lifetime of this application, it is important to perceive in the search of eco-friendly alternatives to this market, such as polymers from renewable sources, as thermoplastic starch and “green” polyethylene. The incorporation of an antibacterial agent to the packaging can extend food shelf life. Camellia sinensis is a plant with known antibacterial properties used in the preparation of “green tea.” In the present work, green tea was incorporated to a blend of cassava thermoplastic starch and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) by melt extrusion, aiming application as active packaging. Films were obtained by thermopressing and characterized through infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy and tensile tests. Their antibacterial properties were evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The results indicated that the material developed has potential for food packaging applications. Moreover, the methodology applied for green tea incorporation in the Starch/HDPE films can be extended for many extracts from natural components, contributing to the advancement of research in the development of active packaging for food products. To the best of our knowledge, no previous work studied the properties of starch/HDPE blend with green tea.

Resumen
Sustainable development is a global objective that aims to address the societal challenge of climate action, the environment, resource efficiency, and raw materials. In this sense, an important strategy is the promotion of green packaging, that is, the use of sustainable materials and designs for the packaging of goods. In recent years, many research works have been published in the specialised area covering the different perspectives and dimensions of green packaging. However, to our knowledge, no previous investigations have analysed the research activity on green packaging from business and consumer perspectives. The present study intends to fill this gap by analysing all of the publications found in the Scopus database with the help of visual analytic tools, including word clouds and Gephi network visualization software. More specifically, our study analyses the impact of green packaging from business and consumer viewpoints, including some specific issues such as the design and materials used in green packaging, green packaging costs, marketing strategies and corporate social responsibility related to green packaging, and the impact of green packaging in waste management, the circular economy, logistics, and supply chain management. The results obtained reveal the growing interest of scholars and researchers in all of these dimensions, as is made patently clear by the increasing number of journal publications in recent years. The practical implications of this study are significant, given the growing awareness among companies and consumers about the importance of the promotion of sustainable development through green packaging alternatives. More specifically, the results of this research could be very useful for all of those agents who are interested in learning about the main lines of research being developed in the field of green packaging.

Packaging is a steadily growing industry that faces many challenges as well. Ever growing consumer expectations, though competition, technological advances don’t come even close to the huge issue of sustainability within the industry. Packaging for the beauty industry is dependable on the looks more than any other with massive changes in the recent years since extensive grooming became a part both genders lifestyle today and spreading those standards across the globe. The global cosmetic packaging market was valued at USD 25.9 billion in 2018 and is expected grow 4.8% in the next 5 years flying high on the innovative package designs, increasing demand for cosmetics focused on the middle class and youth as well as e-commerce. The first stepping stone is that more than half of the materials used for the massive cosmetic industry packaging are plastics. Finding alternatives and making a shift to a greener and circular way will be a challenge in the years to come.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to develop a theoretical framework to explore the influence of green packaging on green purchase intention in the context of online-to-offline (O2O) commerce and to discuss the indirect effects of perceived value, perceived risk and green satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach To cast light on the factors affecting consumers’ intention to purchase in the context of O2O commerce, 295 valid questionnaire responses of O2O consumers in China were collected via an online survey. Data analysis was performed based on structural equation modeling. Findings The empirical results indicated that green packaging significantly affects consumers’ green purchase intention in the O2O commerce context indirectly through perceived value, perceived risk and green satisfaction. Moreover, green loyalty positively and significantly moderates the effects of perceived value, perceived risk and green satisfaction on green purchase intention. Originality/value Research on product packaging has mainly focused on investigating packaging materials, designs, functions and applications but has rarely examined how product packaging affects consumers’ purchase intention in the context of O2O commerce. Moreover, although previous studies have explored the roles of perceived value and perceived risk on purchase intention, they have not investigated the effects of environmental concerns and commerce context. This study attempts to fill these research gaps.

Resumen
Purpose Current literature emphasises using a holistic perspective on green packaging development (GPD) as an important strategy for reducing the environmental impact of products’ supply chain (SC). In practice, however, it can be difficult for packaging developers to strike a balance between all the different environmental requirements on packaging, and trade-offs are common. Life cycle assessment (LCA) can provide this type of information, but many food companies lack the time and resources to conduct detailed assessments. The purpose of this paper is to provide prioritization guidelines for food GPD based on a systematic review of food LCAs. Design/methodology/approach As basis for the suggested guidelines, 48 food LCAs covering eight types of food were reviewed following a standardized format. The review consisted of a quantitative analysis of the global warming potential results and a qualitative analysis of the LCAs’ conclusions. Findings The prioritization guidelines propose three priority areas for food GPD that companies can select from based on product characteristics. They also provide suggestions for improving packaging in the three priority areas. Originality/value The proposed guidelines can help food companies develop packaging solutions that contribute to minimising the environmental impact along food SCs. The review focuses on the role of packaging in food SCs, which has not been previously analysed in published LCA reviews.

Resumen
A critical overview of current approaches to the development of starch-containing packaging, integrating the principles of green chemistry (GC), green technology (GT) and green nanotechnology (GN) with those of green packaging (GP) to produce materials important for both us and the planet is given. First, as a relationship between GP and GC, the benefits of natural bioactive compounds are analyzed and the state-of-the-art is updated in terms of the starch packaging incorporating green chemicals that normally help us to maintain health, are environmentally friendly and are obtained via GC. Newer approaches are identified, such as the incorporation of vitamins or minerals into films and coatings. Second, the relationship between GP and GT is assessed by analyzing the influence on starch films of green physical treatments such as UV, electron beam or gamma irradiation, and plasma; emerging research areas are proposed, such as the use of cold atmospheric plasma for the production of films. Thirdly, the approaches on how GN can be used successfully to improve the mechanical properties and bioactivity of packaging are summarized; current trends are identified, such as a green synthesis of bionanocomposites containing phytosynthesized metal nanoparticles. Last but not least, bioinspiration ideas for the design of the future green packaging containing starch are presented.

Resumen
This review focuses on the fact that there are many ways to be green, and American manufacturers are trying them all. From reducing energy use and recycling water to implementing ISO 14001 sustainability programs and reusing packaging, US factories are embracing a more environmentally sensitive manufacturing ethos as fast as they can. There are many ways to be green. Ratcheting down energy use, for example, automatically reduces a plant’s carbon footprint, because either it burns less natural gas or it buys less electricity from a power plant that burns coal or gas. Companies around the nation have also turned their Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and other tools on solid waste. If a material does not add value to a product, they eliminate it. Many work with vendors to reduce packaging. The less packaging, the less energy is used in a product. Capital projects are even harder to push through, yet they are necessary for further gains once companies have plucked waste reduction’s low-hanging fruit.

Resumen
Globe warming caused by Green House Gas emissions has been threatening human life and development, and the CO2 emission associated with production and use of packaging plays an important role in atmospheric greenhouse effect. The carbon footprints of both plastic-based packaging and honeycomb paperboard were studied in this article, and two typical examples of green & low carbon packaging solution for Haier air condition and automatic washing machine were illustrated respectively in conclusion. The analytical results indicated that the paper packaging material can not only reduce carbon dioxide emission dramatically, but is also a technical way for carbon storage. Therefore, replacement of plastic-based cushion packaging with honeycomb paperboard material is a green and low carbon development road with which it can provide a feasible and technical solution with environment protection, material saving and GHG emission reduction for packaging industry.

Resumen
In the background of low-carbon economy, the logistics activities call for low- carbon and green. However, the way of low-carbon logistics is difficult in China, because it is subject to a number of reasons that China's logistics industry goes low-carbon development road, including the concept behind, hysteresis of guidance and management policy, the extensive mode of the industry development, the logistics facilities and equipment behind, no enough collaborative management in logistics and other industries together, and so on. The packaging is the basis of logistics activities; it can promote the realization of the low-carbon logistics to develop environmental packaging. There are two ways that environmental packaging plays a catalytic role of low-carbon logistics: First, the reduction of packaging materials and R&D and application of green packaging materials; second, the green and environmental protection in the design and application of packaging mode. Final, the unity of logistics and packaging is tried hard to achieve.

Resumen
The light-protective effectiveness of titanium dioxide polylactic acid (TiO2 PLA) nanocomposite films (T-PLA) and oleic-acid-modified (OA_TiO2PLA) nanocomposite films was investigated in ready-to-drink (RTD) green tea infusions in oxygen-impermeable glass packaging. The stability of (−)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) was evaluated in RTD green tea infusions in glass packaging covered with PLA (polylactic acid), T-PLA and OT-PLA under fluorescent light during 20 days of storage at 4 °C. Levels of EGCG and color change of RTD green tea infusions were determined. In addition, sensory tests for difference were conducted on green tea infusions in glass packaging without and with complete light protection during 10 days of storage at 4 °C. Of the panelists, 60% noticed sensory differences in the RTD green tea infusion in two different packaging conditions during 10 days of storage under fluorescent light by a triangle test (p < 0.05). During 20 days of storage, levels of EGCG with complete light protection decreased by 10.8% (0.73 mg/mL), and there was a 42.2% loss of EGCG (0.48 mg/mL) in RTD green tea infusions in the glass packaging covered by PLA film. Finally, 3% T-PLA preserved higher levels of EGCG in RTD green tea infusions compared to 1% T-PLA and OT-PLA.

Normal 0 false false false EN-MY X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 The LDPE was blended with various contents of tapioca starch (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) with addition of compatibilizer, which is PE-g-MA and cooking oil as plasticizer. The blends were prepared by co-rotating twin screw extrusion process and characterized by melt flow index (MFI) analysis and tensile test. Tapioca starch based polyethylene biofilms were studied in term of biodegradability by fungi test. The increasing of starch content to LDPE blend was reduced the MFI values and tensile strength but in 30% and 40% of starch content in tensile strength is higher than control LDPE’s strength due to molecular orientation in sample. However, incorporation of PE-g-MA as compatibiliz increase the mechanical properties of starch based polyethylene blends due to the reaction between maleated PE and starch, thus improves adhesion and reduces slippage at matrix-filler interface.ers The increasing of TS also increase the water content in film sample, weight loss percentage in TGA, and percentage degradation of LDPE/TS blend film. Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore green packaging from the process dimension. Specifically, it focuses on understanding the behavior of costs associated with installing green packaging infrastructure. Design/methodology/approach The study used system dynamics to design the model. The model was tested on three industries employed in manufacturing glass bottles to generalize the result. Findings The study concludes that cost of remanufacturing which initially is higher because of recollection phases and reverse logistics costs eventually becomes lower than new manufacturing as soon as system achieves stability and continues to follow the same trend over the period of time. Practical implications The study put forwards an explanation to the concerns of manufacturers who were unwilling to install green packaging or remanufacturing infrastructure into their operations because of several cost- and risk-related dilemmas. Originality/value The study extends the academic literature by answering the queries raised by Kassaye and Holloway (2015).
