Resumen
The family and its important role in the development of the child is the inspiration for many types of research that have the intention to emphasize certain aspects of family life and the consequences of the family relations in the development of the children. The issue of this research is to find out if there is a connection between the conflict in the family, the divorce of the parents and self-concept in the children of early school age. The research is conducted on 30 children of single-parent families. The children of these single-parent families are children who have lived in families with conflicts and they have been direct or indirect participants in the conflict of the divorced parents. In the process of research, we applied projective techniques: Machover which consists of drawing a person’s figure, as well as a drawing a house and a tree-HTP (House-Tree-Person).The results are obtained through qualitative analysis and interpretation of each drawing particularly.During the investigation the relation between the variables, it is confirmed that there is a considerable connection between the conflict in the family, the divorce of the parents and the self-concept in children. It is confirmed, during the process that the children of divorced parents from negative self-concept. In children of single-parent families it is indicated that this group of children in relation to the psychological picture for themselves presented the following characteristics: lowered EGO, mechanisms for defense, feeling of insecurity, low self-confidence, aggressiveness, great virility, and caution.

Resumen
Since in many cases past and present the professional translation field is not — or is only weakly — differentiated, the transposability of dispositions acquired through experiences related both to other fields and to translators’ larger life conditions and social trajectory may play a fundamental role in a translator’s habitus. Research on translators’ socio-biographies therefore deserves special attention. For native literary author-translators who live and work in a diglossic society characterized by socio-linguistic conflicts between the translators’ working languages, the plural and dynamic internalization of this conflict and of broader linguistic and cultural hierarchies is likely to form one of the constitutive aspects of their habitus and self-image, of their literary and translational behavior. In the first part of this article, I propose a tentative typology of Belgian native author-translators’ habitus and self-image according to potentially different internalizations of the Belgian linguistic conflict in their broader socialization process. In the second part, I present relevant aspects of the socio-biography of Camille Melloy, a native literary author-translator who translated between conflicting cultures in early twentieth century Belgium.

Resumen
Introduction. The article attempts to study the correlation between the desire to enter the teaching profession and the formation of the conflict resolution component in the teacher’s image. The purpose of the article is to identify and describe the relationship between the assessment of the formation of the conflict resolution component in the teacher’s image and the desire to pursue a career in education. Materials and Methods. The study is based on the systematic approach and uses theoretical and empirical research methods. To collect primary empirical data, a survey of undergraduates doing their degrees in education was conducted. The study involved 152 undergraduate students (Years 2-5). For the mathematical processing of the research data, the H - Kruskal Wallace test and factor analysis were used Results. The factor analysis revealed two factors within the structure of the conflict resolution component of the teacher’s image. Its content differs when students assess school teachers, university teachers and themselves. According to students’ perceptions, the structure of conflict resolution component of the school teacher’s image and of the image of the university teacher coincide to a great extent. On the other hand, the structure of conflict resolution component of future teachers’ ‘self-image’ differs. ‘Refusing violence’ in the second factor is associated with ‘following rules’ for students, and with ‘personal choice’ for university teachers and school teachers. The research findings indicate that students with different degrees of professional motivation have different perceptions of the formation of conflict resolution component within professional images of university teachers, school teachers and themselves. When assessing school teachers and university teachers, significant differences were found according to the ‘internal stability’ criterion. ‘Doubting students’ rated university teachers lower according to this criterion, on the other hand, ‘students who do not want to enter the teaching profession’ rated this criterion low both among school teachers and university teachers. Conclusions. The study reveals the correlation between the assessment of conflict resolution component of the teacher's image and motivation for entering the teaching career. The article concludes that the desire to pursue a career in education is associated with such components of the teacher's image as ‘positive goals’, ‘equal communication’ and ‘personal choice’. Low self-evaluation of students’ conflict resolution component of the teacher's image negatively affects the motivation for teaching career in the future.

Resumen
Evidence suggests that conflicts between contracting parties are more prone to occur when a party has suffered a significant loss. It is argued that the phenomenon is difficult to understand within conventional contract theory, which assumes full rationality, while behavioral theories based on the concepts of motivated reasoning and reciprocity provide interesting explanations. Thus, losses can trigger motivated, self-serving perceptions and beliefs, which in turn are likely to induce negative reciprocity as well as counter-productive acts aimed at bolstering self-image. These explanations are demonstrated to be well supported by experiments.

Resumen
The article analyses actual ideas on the problem of pedagogical conflict management in universities with the help of art therapy resources. This area of scientific knowledge is designed to help the individual to realize their inner state by creating a visual image, metaphors, symbols, videos (art-therapeutic product). Art therapy is a development in the personality inherent in its creativity, which helps in solving conflicts. Through creative expression, art therapy actualizes personal resources for overcoming pedagogical conflicts and provides an output of accumulated energy (aggression), thus harmonizing the emotional sphere. Creating abstract images, the student finds answers too many topical questions, explores fears and barriers to communication. These images arise unconsciously and spontaneously, which is why anxiety and resistance to self-discovery decrease. This provides a diverse range of tools for dealing with the emotional sphere of the individual. Art therapy provides a specific answer to the global question "How to curb emotions in conflict?". In this context, the content, the historical aspect, the specifics of the use of art therapy in universities are analysed and the essence, characterization, dynamics of pedagogical conflicts are revealed. Types of art therapy in the management of pedagogical conflicts in universities are generalized. According to the questionnaire, students overcome the pedagogical conflicts with the following types of art therapy: music therapy (29%), phototherapy (25%), drawing therapy (12%), bibliotherapy (10%) (especially in electronic format), dance and movement therapy (7%), collage (4%) other types (13%). They are harmoniously complemented by combined logotherapy with the use of virtual communication of social networks, which, from the students' experience, provides a qualitative constructive result in solving pedagogical conflicts. Performance, drama, media-art therapy in the format of blogging on various online platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Telegram channels) are all separate modern types of art therapy that helps creative expression, self-affirmation, self-actualization and selfhealing of the personality.

Resumen
Objective Little has been explored about a reflection towards self-image in schizophrenia, though it can be related to heterogeneous symptoms of the illness. We identified the neural basis of ambivalence towards ideal self-image in patients with schizophrenia. Methods 20 patients with schizophrenia and 20 healthy controls underwent functional MRI while the self-image reflection tasks of determining whether to agree with sentences describing their actual or ideal self-image that contained one of the adjective pairs with opposite valence. The interaction between the group and ideal ambivalence score was examined, and group differences in functional connectivity related to ambivalence towards ideal self-image were further studied. Results The interaction of group-by-ideal ambivalence score was shown in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, where activities were positively correlated with the level of ideal self-image ambivalence in patients, but not in controls. Task-related decrease in functional connectivity was shown between the orbitofrontal cortex and cerebellum in patients. Conclusion The process of reflecting on ambivalent ideal self-image in schizophrenia may be related to aberrant prefrontal activity and connectivity. Abnormality in the prefrontal regions that take part in cognitive conflict monitoring and value judgment may underlie the pathophysiology of increased ambivalence towards ideal self-image.

Resumen
Conflict, as dealing with power, generally tends to be analysed in Russian sources through the prism of national interest and power play. Emerging new phenomena, such as terrorism, new/ asymmetric warfare, popular uprisings (e.g. Arab Spring), and the controversial notion of globalization, tend to be placed in realist frames of balancing, interest and state politics. This essay expands a constructivist contribution to explaining conflict by looking at the evolution of the image of the ‘other’ and stressing its importance as an element reflecting and cementing the conflict potential at a collective, public level. The argument links the evolution of the Other to its multilevel self-identities, formation of nation-state-self, increase in accessible information flows. By making a socio-historical cut, the essay suggests that conflict ‘others’ today have become more complex, which inhibits conflict resolution and leads us to reevaluate the often neglected role of constructivist analysis.

Resumen
Abstract This study tested whether compassionate goals to support others and self-image goals to maintain and defend desired self-images: 1) are equivalent constructs across three cultures (U.S., Japan, Poland); 2) overlap with interdependent self-construal; and 3) predict relationships and growth measures similarly in each country. We re-analyzed data from American (n = 130) and Japanese (n = 203) students, reported in Niiya et al. (2013), along with new data from Poland (n = 246). Single and multiple group confirmatory analyses showed that the two-factor structure holds across the three cultures. Interdependence correlated with compassionate and self-image goals only in Japan. In all three samples, compassionate goals correlated with non-zero-sum belief, feeling close, growth-seeking, self-compassion, and learning from failures, whereas self-image goals correlated with defensive responses to conflicts and validation-seeking. Our results suggest that compassionate and self-image goals may serve similar functions in relationships and growth across cultures.

The aim of the article is to present, based on the author’s research, identity problems and conflicts of social roles experienced by women with acquired disability which is a consequence of cancer. The research shows that numerous tensions and dilemmas occur in relation to a conflict between being a disabled woman and her family, professional and social roles. Disability is connected with inability to perform all former roles and the need to reorganize everyday life, thus affecting the image of oneself. Therefore, the situation of becoming disabled is a critical moment which forces the redefinition of ‘Ego’, a change of former lifestyle, performed roles, and relations with other people. In order to cope with these challenges and adapt to change, women take up various action strategies.

Resumen
The study explores the linguostylistic means in John Braine’s novel "Room at the Top" (1957), which enabled the author to show the character’s inner conflict between his craving for wealth and power and his morals, or the conflict of social stereotypes about happiness and authenticity treated in this article as the real self of Joe Lampton. The true self makes itself evident through the contradictions that torture him in the course of his efforts to overcome social barriers and renounce moral values. The research objective was to analyze the interconnection between the expressive means in the novel and the sense they imply. The linguostylistic, motivic, contextual, and definitional analysis revealed that the antithesis "materialism – moral values" is presented in the opposition of the images of two women. Both play a significant role in the main character’s destiny. The antithesis is conveyed with the help of expressive means, such as contextual antonyms, evaluative vocabulary, syntactic parallelism, irony, climax, metaphor, etc. Susan Brown’s image embodies Joe Lampton’s material values, while that of Alice Aisgill personifies his moral values and the gradual loss of his authenticity.

Resumen
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to enlarge the current understanding of destination image in view of identified sources of risk and to investigate the mediating role of government initiatives and media influence for sustainable and secure tourism in a conflict zone. Therefore, this study develops and empirically tests an integrative model of destination image that reflects a comprehensive view of the relationships among these variables.Design/methodology/approachThe study uses data collected through a self-administered survey of respondents selected through probability area sampling from the targeted sample of domestic tourists in hospitality contexts (four- and five-star hotels). The data were analysed using structural equation modelling. The scale was developed and purified through factor analysis (confirmatory factor analysis).FindingsThe results provide evidence that psychological risk and socio-cultural risk emerged as the major sources of risk followed by unrest (terrorist) and political risk which is against the predetermined notion that unrest (terrorist) risk is the major source of risk perceived by domestic tourists visiting a conflict zone. Further, the study identified that media is having comparatively higher role in influencing the perception about the sources of risk than the government initiatives in decreasing the sources of risk towards destination image and its competitiveness. Thus, the study supports the fact that for the destination image in conflict zone, performing best in the domain of control (government initiatives) yields very weak performance in the domain of concern (media).Originality/valueThis research contributes theoretically and empirically to the discussions on the components of the destination image in the conflict zone. Further, the study is inert in evaluating mediational role of media influence and government initiatives in the relationship between perceived risks and destination image.

Resumen
The concept of ‘self’ is closely related to the idea of identity. Self is just what makes us who we are. In the modern context, emergence of self refers to freeing it from hierarchy and dependence. The self becomes responsible for itself, for maintaining its own image, which happens through social interactions. According to the psychologist, William James, self is essentially a social structure and it arises in social experiences. ‘Selfhood’ is formed from experiences. It changes not only over a period, but also emerges as what we experience as the ‘self’ in a particular period. Human beings have the unique quality of reflecting upon and evaluating their thoughts, feelings and actions. By understanding oneself, one can hope to achieve greater happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, liberation and also foster better relations with people around. Selfhood is important to us, both as individuals and as social creatures, as it shapes our personal existence and our relations with those whom we bond.

Resumen
Madagascar has experienced various episodes of conflict since the colonization period. Despite the solutions local and external actors implemented, conflict recurs. Metanarratives such as socialism, communism, capitalism, and liberalism greatly impacted the conditions explaining the dynamics behind such recurrences. How did metanarratives contribute to the creation of more peaceful (de-escalating roles) or conflict situations (escalating roles)? With the help of Qualitative Comparative Analysis, this article identifies and studies the metanarratives influencing and being influenced by the following: a) conflict dimensions, b) the framing of the conflicts by the actors involved, c) the construction of the images of the self/the other, d) the accommodation policies (the solutions implemented to address the incompatibilities between the actors), and e) the repertoires of action. It argues that metanarratives play significant roles in transforming a conflict in both constructive and destructive ways.

Resumen
Introduction: Scientific medical publications are considered to be a source of unbiased and independent information. Authors are required to disclose relationships with the pharmaceutical industry for transparency purposes. The aim of this work was to assess conflict of interest disclosure in a Portuguese top-tier medical journal by comparing authors’ self-reported conflicts of interest with payments listed in the official database of Portuguese Ministry of Health.Material and Methods: All articles published in the Portuguese Journal of Cardiology from December 2015 to May 2016 were reviewed. Articles based on clinical images, with authors affiliated to foreign institutions, editorials, letters to the editor, or submitted before January 1st 2015 were excluded. Authors were categorized on concordance between self-reported disclosures and payments listed in the database. Authors who authored multiple articles were counted as new authors, since each paper offered a new opportunity for financial disclosure. Results: Of the 155 authors surveyed, 82 (53%) were in perfect concordance with the sunshine database, while 73 authors (47%) had one or more undisclosed payments. Undisclosed payments totaled over € 210 000. Four (17%) articles mentioned a conflict of interest, 24 articles (96%) had at least one author with undisclosed payments.Discussion: None of the payments listed in the database was acknowledged in self-reported conflicts of interest. This might indicate that authors do not consider their financial relationships with the industry to be relevant. Conclusion: The lack of concordance between self-reported conflicts of interest and payments found in the database raises concerns about incomplete disclosure.

Resumen
Abstract.Starting from the assumption that self-presentation is a ubiquitous feature of social behavior, this paper analyzes intergroup relations and processes of social influence in a perspective of self-presentation. Starting from the classical definition of self-presentation of Jones and Pittman (1982), we expose the direct and indirect strategies of self-presentation. Then, we consider the implications of self-presentation that, in addition to being used in order to transmit a positive image of the subject, enable the construction and maintenance of a positive social identity, satisfying self-esteem needs. We argue that the reasons for self-presentation mediate or determine how individuals respond to external influences, and that the risk of breaking ingroup norms and public expectations is self-presentational. We analyze the conflict between conforming to a source of influence and remain independent in a self-presentational perspective. Given this perspective, much of human behavior can be understood as the result of attempts to, rather than seeking to, creates a desired image in others. Keywords: Self-presentation; Intergroup relations; Social influence.

Recent studies suggest that body hair may be of increasing importance in men’s overall body image. Body depilation is a relatively new area of clinical and research inquiry among men with much of the documented evidence of the phenomenon split between mass media accounts and descriptive scientific investigations. This study was undertaken to further our understanding of this behavior by examining the relationship between depilation and other dimensions of body image in a nonclinical sample. A total of 364 men completed measures assessing self-reported hair growth, body depilation, drive for muscularity, gender role conflict, body dysmorphia, and social comparison. The correlates of body depilation included a drive for muscularity, gender role conflict, and physical appearance social comparison. Significant differences were identified among men who depilate, compared with those who do not, on measures of social comparison and a drive for muscularity. These findings lend support for the idea that body hair, and its reduction or removal, is a key aspect of men’s body image that translates into some challenges in assessment and prevention among health care practitioners.

Resumen
The article dwells on the origin and development of linguistic imagology, a new field of research which studies the linguistic aspect of foreign image representation in fiction literature, mass media and other types of discourse, as well as the linguistic means of reflecting the relations between the auto-image (image of “the self”) and the hetero-image (image of “the other”). The specific approach offered in the paper is based on the analysis of nine multicultural novels about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict written in English. It consists in singling out two degrees of estrangement between the auto- and the hetero-image, with alienation and the image of an alius making an accent on differences and misunderstanding, and alterity together with the image of an alter, on similarities and propinquity. Lexico-semantic and stylistic analysis of the novels, carried out in the article, reveals linguistic tools which are employed to represent the hetero-image as either an alius or an alter.

The article presents the research results, which is directed at identifying of the actual attitude of older adolescents towards the future, taking into account gender differences. It is suggested that in the self-consciousness of older adolescents aspects of self-relation that are significant for the future are not coordinated, there are also gender differences in the organizational substructure of the image of the future. Surveyed 93 schoolchildren, students of the 10th grade of three Kemerovo schools on the basis of the diagnostic program including measurement the parameters of the organizational substructure of the image of the future and determining the representations of adolescents of different gender groups. On the sample of subjects in general, there is a tendency to show low personality activity, inconsistency of individual components of the attitude to yourself and the factors of life's meaningliness. At the same time, the girls oriented towards the future, but prone to internal conflict, the boys are more passive, poorly focused on the future, prone to experience of dissatisfaction in accepting oneself. Based on the results obtained, the prospects for further experimental work on shaping the future in the older adolescence are outlined.

In the Philippines, afar from the usual attachment, a child sometimes leads to offend out of survival necessity that leads to total separation from their family, this explains a phenomenon of conflict to the law. Aiming to describe the profile and personology of CICL in Bahay Kalinga; and its correlates. Case research was used in analyzing violations, family structure and personology among 20 participants. In-house CICL’s profile depicted: 15 years and 9 months as average age; substantial number of boys committed offences than girls; commonly falls below poverty rate; majority stop schooling; all own a dysfunctional family; and affirmed 4-5 family members. Regarding personology, mostly verified an average self-concept, majority pointed out having realistic self-image, and beyond median represented low self-esteem. Descriptions and measures of their profile and personology could determine the risk of being CICL. The patterns of personology were focused through the information of their extracted statements. Personology traits and types play a vital role in the concepts described by Filipino CICL. Thus, there were seven themes that build up the collection of personology as precedents of traits and patterns. Replicate the study to establish Philippine norm of cases associated with conflict of the law.

Abstract How do leaders matter? What do leaders want? Grandiose narcissism provides a pathway to understanding how personality can impact a leader’s preference formation and foreign policy behavior. More narcissistic leaders will focus their efforts on maintaining their inflated self-image by selecting how they will fight on the world stage and who they will fight against. While most leaders will divert attention to easier won battles, more narcissistic leaders will prefer to fight against high-status states by themselves. This article introduces a new measure of US’ presidential narcissism, and finds support for the argument that more narcissistic US presidents prefer unilaterally initiating Great Power disputes using data from 1897–2008. A brief review of Theodore Roosevelt’s handling of the Venezuela Crisis of 1902–1903 is used as a plausibility probe of the theory’s causal mechanisms.

Resumen
The subject of this research is the main dramaturgical techniques of creation of the image of antihero in modern cinematography. Similar type of personality is characterized by destructive behavior, controversy and unresolved inner conflict. An antihero tilted towards external and internal destruction suffers from injured pride, and his main goal becomes an attempt of self-affirmation. Despite his negative characteristics, the image of antihero is always complemented with personal philosophy or story preceding its creation, which makes the hero ambiguous and attractive for the audience. The method of research consists in the theoretical analysis of dramaturgical film material. In the context of film dramaturgy, the reflection of human nature allows expressing the multifacetedness and ambiguity of the hero, since behind the negative manifestations of his personality lies the distorted by negative experience axiological system that allows violating the social norm and leads to chaos and destruction. However, despite the negative manifestations, the antihero retains the panhuman qualities, reflected in the need for achieving a certain social status.

Resumen
The paper presents an overview of the main tendencies in modern discourse studies in German-speaking circles, further referring to the problem of communicative self-presentation strategies used by the participants in virtual conflict discourse and their usage in certain conflict situations. The linguistic, sociological and psychological aspects of conflict communication play an important role in the research of discourse in German-language discourse studies. The research groups such as the Vienna circle and the Duisburg school of discourse analysis integrated theories on conflict discourse, inter alia the hegemony theory developed by E. Laclau and Ch. Mouffe or the theory of conflict discourse of J. Habermas into their research, focusing mainly on the problem of racism and right extremist discourse in the German-speaking public sphere. The modern research includes also sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic aspects of racist discourse research. Scientific works published in the last ten years focus mainly on problems of hidden racism within public and social institutions and racist discourse within teenager groups. The study of different sociological and psychological factors of communicative behavior are aimed at reconstructing social crises and forecast of future tendencies in order to avoid further cases of discrimination in society. With the growing importance of media as source of knowledge and instrument of influence, virtual communication becomes an integral part of discourse formation and articulation. On the one hand, such special features of the Internet, as spontaneity of communication, anonymity of the users, as well as the unlimited number of potential participants, provide a free choice of instruments of self-presentation. On the other hand, however, they involve certain limitations of the communication process itself: such features as social status, social or physical power can no longer be source of influence on the opponent. Thus, participants of conflict discourse have to defend their own and their social group's positive image by choosing suitable communicative strategies of self-presentation and presentation of the opponent. Positive self-presentation in conflict discourse includes a strong division of communicative space into oppositional categories, such as ME (US)-YOU (THEY), GOOD-BAD or RIGHT-WRONG, where the ME (US) group is credited with positive qualities such as good, intelligent, experienced, rightful etc, whereas such negative qualities, as bad, stupid, inexperienced, wrong are attributed to the opponent group. The analysis of such self-presentation strategies and categorization processes allows making conclusions about the mental aspects of discourse practices in separate social and ethnocultural groups basing on psycholinguistic features of intercultural and interpersonal conflict discourse.

Resumen
The image of Russia is one of the key components for determining the self-identity of the population, the growth of trust in the government, and an understanding of current politics and economics conducted in the country. The purpose of this study is to identify the image of Russia in Russian political and non-political television programs for the period of 2017-2019. The research methodology included content analysis of Russian television programs. Quantitative and qualitative methods, including case studies, were used to interpret the data. The image of a country consists of a spatial (territorial) image, an image of a population, an image of power, and an image of a leader. In the analysis, subjective, objective, spatial, temporal and communicative sections were identified. The performed analysis made it possible to identify some features of the formation of the image of Russia in TV shows. The resulting image is directly dependent on the event context and is its reflection. The underlying parameters, such as political culture, are not considered. The main topics raised in TV shows were the conflict in Ukraine, conflict in Syria, sanctions and international relations of Russia, the USA and the EU, election of the President of the Russian Federation and the election of the President of the United States. The image of the country is translated as strong, cognitively complex, dynamic. Most of the messages are positive, since they are focused on the domestic audience, the policy of the channels themselves is designed to show the diversity of opinions, but, at the same time, to raise the country’s prestige in the eyes of the audience. The negative characteristics of the image involve the comments of foreign politicians and experts, which are broadcast on Russian television. Changes in the spatial image due to the reunification with Crimea are shown most vividly. This topic has been relevant for a period of five years. The political leader is represented as strong both in the international arena and in dealing with domestic issues.

Resumen
Mourid Barghouti is among the Palestinian novelists who have lived outside Palestine and have been deprived of returning to their country for around thirty years. In his novel “Ra’yat Ram Allah” that is considered his biography he pictures Palestinian self in conflict with the Israeli other. Each of them, self and the other, include features and characteristics related to their own. This novel considers Palestinian self (I) as one of the involved parties and the Israeli other that deals with occupation and violence against Palestinian self. Considering the presence of conflict between self and the other, the Palestinian self is about to know the other and reveal his features and identity. Consequently, this research is about to study the images of Palestinian and Israeli in the light of self and the other conflict by using descriptive-analytic approach. Among the results of this research is that the writer has dealt with Palestinian self more than the other and portraits the Palestinian self’s raison d'être, be it positive or negative. And when referring to the Palestinian other he refers to occupation and colonialism characteristics more than anything.

Resumen
Every day, we are faced with the conflict between the temptation to cheat for financial gains and maintaining a positive image of ourselves as being a “good person.” While it has been proposed that cognitive control is needed to mediate this conflict between reward and our moral self-image, the exact role of cognitive control in (dis)honesty remains elusive. Here we identify this role, by investigating the neural mechanism underlying cheating. We developed a task which allows for inconspicuously measuring spontaneous cheating on a trial-by-trial basis in the MRI scanner. We found that activity in the nucleus accumbens promotes cheating, particularly for individuals who cheat a lot, while a network consisting of posterior cingulate cortex, temporoparietal junction, and medial prefrontal cortex promotes honesty, particularly in individuals who are generally honest. Finally, activity in areas associated with cognitive control (anterior cingulate cortex and inferior frontal gyrus) helped dishonest participants to be honest, whereas it enabled cheating for honest participants. Thus, our results suggest that cognitive control is not needed to be honest or dishonest per se but that it depends on an individual’s moral default.

Resumen
The main research objective of this study was seeking the predictive role of general self-esteem and the body image in social competences among women and their biological daughters. As it stands, there is a lack of research showing the mothers and their adult daughters at the same time in the context of measuring the same psychological variables, i.e., general self-esteem, self-assessment of the body and specific social competences in the scope of behaviour in intimate situations, situations requiring social exposure and assertiveness. The study group comprised 102 individuals; 51 pairs of mothers (40–64 years old, M = 51.33) and their biological daughters (19–25 years old, M = 22.49). The following instruments were used: The Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, the Contour Drawing Rating Scale, the Body Esteem Scale, the Social Competence Scale, categorized interview (to measure BMI and collect data describing the criteria for selection to the research group). The significance of the differences and the stepwise regression analysis were performed. The results of the study demonstrated the following to be significant predictors of social competences in subjects: General self-esteem B = 0.615, discrepancy real-obligatory body image B = 0.275 among daughters, and physical condition B = 0.362 in mothers. The general self-esteem of daughters positively influences all verified types of their social competences (competences in intimate situations, in case of social exposure and ability to be assertive). However, it is the significant predictor only for mothers’ competences in dealing with situations of social exposure. Discrepancy real-obligatory body image: Seems to be the predictor of daughters’ social competences conditioning effectiveness in situations requiring assertiveness. The physical condition among mothers seems to be especially important for their assertiveness and effectiveness in intimate situations. The conflict between the real and the ideal body image is also an important aspect in predicting the assertiveness in the group of mothers. The study results can prove to be helpful in creating preventive and educational programs focused on self-esteem and social competencies in women, including the context of the relation between mothers and their daughters.

Resumen
The body image is to be reconstructed during adolescence, which is more difficult in the case of somatic illness and social stigma. This research aimed to study adolescents' body image with scoliosis, students of a special educational institution in Ukraine socially identified with stigma as 'a school for scoliotics'. The participants (n=104) of the research were adolescents (13-15 years old) with scoliosis from the institution mentioned above (n=52, 24 males, 28 females) and adolescents without scoliosis from the same city (n=52, 24 males, 28 females). Two methods were used to collect the data: (1) Self-portraits; (2) Dembo-Rubinstein Self-Assessment Scale. The adolescents with scoliosis and labeled as 'scoliotics' face additional obstructions in their psychic body development compared to their peers. For instance, they tend to overinvest in the desired image of a healthy body and do not feel able to get it. We found the markers of four different ways to cope with the situation by the adolescents with scoliosis: (a) identification as 'a scoliotic' instead of hope to be cured soon; (b) psychological distancing from the others to preserve the desire of a more attractive body image; (c) repression or denial of the body parts which could relate to scoliosis; (d) infantilization, aimed to slow down the discovery of their maturing corporeality. Consequently, adolescents with scoliosis affected by stigma experience the gap or conflict between their current, desired and perceived realistic body image.

This paper reviewed the literature on ethics, ethical theories, ethical principles; as well as the implications of unethical practices in organizations. The study revealed that unethical business practices have devastating consequences on organizations; since they result in poor corporate image, financial losses; market failures and sometimes complete corporate collapse. It was further observed that corruption, bad leadership, poor corporate governance, conflict of interest, lack of accountability, inadequate CSR, abusive and intimating behaviors among others are common in most organizations. The paper concludes that it is beneficial and in the enlightened self -interest of organizations to adopt good ethical practices. The paper also recommends that managers’ should ensure that ethical standards are crafted in their business philosophy and strategic intents in order to build and maintain a good corporate image.

Resumen
The notion of brief dynamic psychotherapy (BDP) may seem at first sight to be a contradiction in terms. ‘Dynamic’ is a Freudian psychoanalytic term implying conflictual psychological forces — an opposition between the conscious and unconscious mind, and the use of defence mechanisms to arrive at a compromise between them. The rigidity of the obsessional person whose self-expression is traded for security, the self-reproaches of the depressive reflecting inhibited aggression, the clinging of the phobic individual who lacks an inner sense of a secure base — these would be examples of the relationship between dynamic conflict and psychiatric symptoms. But the image of psychoanalysis conjures up a picture of prolonged and intensive couch-based therapy. How can this be brief?

Resumen
The links between crime, violence and male offending are now more deeply researched in a growing international literature that understands much antisocial and criminal behaviour as a social resource for the attainment and protection of masculine identities. Nevertheless, the tie between masculinity and nonoffending has been much less explored. This focus group study of understandings of public drinking-related conflict and violence among young male drinkers and security officers in a combined urban and rural district of New South Wales illustrates the significance and complexity of these links. Masculine concerns inform a readiness for involvement with conflict and its enjoyment through the prominence of issues of social status, gender policing, honour and carnival during different social occasions. But this must be understood in relation to the different masculinity ‘projects’ (Connell, 1995) that contrast security officers with an idealised professional self-image and the majority of drinkers, from a more violent minority. A surprisingly common pattern of ‘respectable’ masculine subjectivity informs disengagement from serious violence. This is often characterised by an exaggerated view of the rational male self as safe and in control of most social interaction in dangerous public contexts. The pitfalls of this may even be enhanced by the new influence of campaigns around ‘risky’ public drinking that aim to instill ideals of responsible self-governance.

Some athletes have attracted millions of audiences, even if being namely recognised. Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar JR., and David Beckham have the most Instagram followers on a global scale. Online Social Networks (OSN) allows users to establish their profiles to communicate with others through actions such as follows and comments. Currently, athletes prefer to utilise Instagram for self-branding purposes. Therefore, many studies have examined their practices. From the rising of Model of Athlete Brand Image MABI offline practices to the development of online athlete branding consumers’ engagements on social media, all studies have concerned three main categories to build athlete brand image, namely Athletic performance, Attractive appearance, and Marketable lifestyles. As a Saudi female personal trainer who uses Instagram to build a brand image, this auto-ethnography aims to reflect on my personal experiences, including cultural aspects that affect athlete branding strategies. Athlete branding studies have not focused on cultural differences yet. Most Muslim Saudi women are culturally conservative; they cover their bodies in public as a religious practice. This qualitative study describes my own experiences and Instagram visual content selections. It attempts to understand the motives, outcomes, and online self-presentation challenges and strategies of Muslim female exercisers who aim to build their athlete brand image. A key result indicated that Attractive appearance category was not applicable in the self-presentation of a Muslim female athlete in her athlete branding strategies. The trainer encountered some cultural challenges, for instance, religious values such as veiling and gender segregation, which conflict with the ability to rely on the self-characteristics for branding. Therefore, other strategies were applied, such as presenting body composition before and after test results and testimonials for clients.

Resumen
The Church faces a crisis of identity today because it has not addressed the conflict inherited from Vatican II between the Church as a society and as communion. The author argues for the priority of the image of the people of God in ecclesiology and draws out some implications for the Church’s self-understanding. He calls the Church to clarify the place and meaning of the laity and their charisms, and challenges the Church to rethink her ministry to better express her underlying identity. Practical implications of this effort are presented, including the role of the sensus fidelium.

Resumen
ABSTRACTRecent research into aggressive behaviour in adolescents has used a social cognitive model to explore the contents of the cognitions (beliefs about aggression) that mediate aggressive behaviour. This present study examined the relationship between beliefs about aggression and empathy as mediators of aggressive behaviour and responses on a social problem solving task. Three different aggression status groups were used: antisocial adolescent offenders (38 males and 5 females) and adolescents rated by their teacher as being high aggressive (21 males and 11 females) and low aggressive (24 males and 43 females). Both antisocial and high aggressive males were more likely than low aggressive males to believe that aggression increases self-esteem and that aggression avoids a negative self-image. Antisocial and high aggressive females were more likely to endorse legitimacy of aggression and to believe that aggression avoids a negative image. Adolescents who chose hostile problem and goal definitions and who perceived positive consequences of aggression were less empathic and more likely to endorse beliefs supporting the use of aggression than adolescents with less hostile problem solving skills. The findings raise important questions regarding the content of adolescents' perception of the self and the part it plays in the regulation of behaviour in conflict situations.

Resumen
The article deals with the influence of deprived conditions of socialization in institutional care institutions on the formation of the locus control and self-attitude of personality. The results of empirical research about the features and correlations between some scales of the studied phenomenon have been presented. It has also been found that the deprived youth both sexes have difficulty in self-absorbed, contradictory self-attitude, negative emotions to himself / herself, and the external type of locus control regardless some positive self-attitudes.In the deprived conditions of parental-child interaction, the emotional and value self-attitude of youth has been characterized as reduced ability to self-reflection, feeling guilty, internal conflict, a tendency to self-incrimination, which forming a dependent position in the development of intimate and reference contacts, narrowing the abilities for self-realization in preparing for independent life. Youth of both sexes with deprived experience are insecure in themselves, their potencies and opportunities. They have some ability to building a line of behavior independently; obeying the attitudes about their inferiority and insignificance in the regulation of life; the lack of interest of their internal world; the low assessment of the value of their own image “I” for himself / herself and for others; the expectation of unfavorable reactions, lack of sympathy, negative self-attitude, self-incrimination, self-analysis and self-criticism.In the conditions without psychological and correction work, the diffuse self- attitude causes a self-rejection as a big hurdle to the adaptation and integration into society and destabilizing effect on the possibility of successful personal self-realization in the future. The above actualizes the problem of socio-psychological support of growing personality in current conditions of a variety of deprivation, which provides necessary opportunities for deprived youth of both sexes to compare their real possibilities with the society requirements, their own behavior with the expectations of other people; and opportunity for self-asserted and self-development, resolving internal conflicts.

Resumen
Conflict is the main genre of play and the driving force behind drama. Internal communication of contemporary dramaturgical discourse is to some extent tense and uncomfortable which is motivated by the generic specificity of play and expressed in non-combining of communicative intentions of characters. Conflict strategies are verbalized by conflict, including strategies of manipulation and speech aggression. The strategy of language aggression involves usage of tactics of insult, irony, criticism, mockery, provocation and more. A confrontational manipulation strategy can be expressed in tactics of threat, indignation, rejection, pressure, demands, etc. These tactics are aimed at seizing the communicative space to impose one’s interests on a partner. During a conflict confrontational strategies in contemporary plays are characterized by usage of tactics with a high degree of negativity that, at the conflict peak, transform insult into the goal of communication in itself. The strategy of language aggression involves usage of tactics of insult, irony, criticism, mockery, provocation and more. The purpose of speech aggression tactics is to express a negative assessment of the addressee and to reduce his or her self-esteem. In I. Kotliarevsky’s plays characters using the tactics of insult or reproach make sure to comment explaining to the addressee the reasons for their language aggression. At the same time in modern dramaturgy the image or criticism is largely autonomous. Confrontation is one-sided in the process of language communication. When intensified confrontational stimuli can be both stimulus and response responses. At the same time plays of I. Kotliarevsky lack open confrontation, which exacerbates conflict of a communication situation. Modern plays show a broader and more aggressive range of confrontational tactics as well as more active usage of them. I. Kotliarevsky’s characters often show desire to alleviate the conflict, as soon as possible to get out of the conflict situation, using weakened tactics of confrontation.

Resumen
On the basis of lyric and epic works, the authors of the article investigate the specific features of the gender picture of the world of the classic of Kabardian literature Fousat Balkarova. The structuring of the holistic material into 5 interrelated sections allows the authors to consistently, close-up consider the thematic, personal, linguistic, chronological and conflict-prone aspects of the poetess' ethnogender consciousness. The historically conditioned process of transformation of social constructs «masculine» and «feminine» of the Adyghe patriarchal society under the pressure of factors of civilization and modernization is shown. The analysis made it possible to reveal in the poetry of F. Balkarova and identify the ontological metacode «woman-dzhigit», marking the dominance of masculine traits in the image of a new, self-sufficient woman of the post-war years. The article also examines a complex of issues related to the accelerated pace of life, the «double repertoire» of women, gender asymmetry, the conflict of two generations, artistic ethnography.

Resumen
Purpose – The purpose of this study was twofold: first, to test to what extent a cooperative conflict management style can be related to attitudes, norms and perceived volitional control. Second, because conflict resolution is an activity that unfolds at the team level, the validity of the theoretical model was tested at the team level of analysis. The aim was to extend the understanding we have on antecedents of conflict management styles and to build a bridge between two different levels of analysis. Design/methodology/approach – This was done by building on the theory of planned behavior, which, to the authors’ knowledge, has neither been related to organizational behaviors nor to small group dynamics. A questionnaire was distributed to subjects that have experienced working together in teams. In total, 131 team members (grouped in 33 teams) provided answers on the key concepts of the model. Findings – First, perceived norms and high volitional control relate to individuals’ intentions to engage in cooperative conflict management activities, with intentions not mediating to role of norms on behavior. Second, at the team level, a high level of perceived norms relates to a higher occurrence of a cooperative resolution style. Additionally, high diversity on the attitudes over the value of this style negatively impacts its occurrence. Research limitations/implications – This study offers a cross-sectional image of an important process in the team. Additionally, relying on the subjects’ self-reports represents a limitation in the current study, considering the goal of the model is to predict behavior. Future research could address this, and additionally, consider team characteristics or individual traits that could add to the model of planned behavior. Originality/value – This paper adds to the literature as an attempt the bridge individual level constructs team-level processes. Moreover, it provides evidence for potential antecedents of conflict management styles. This latter contribution can be relevant for practitioners as well, that could invest in the institutionalization of favored resolution style to benefit from it.

Resumen
This article examines the emotion-based status-seeking logic in Russia’s foreign policy vis-à-vis the West, presenting the example of Russia’s reactions to NATO’s military campaign against Serbia in 1999. It is argued that Russian assertiveness in combination with expressive rhetoric must be understood as a result of the ruling elite’s need to have Russia’s identity and self-defined social status as an equal great power in world politics respected by its Western interaction partners. Russia’s reactions to NATO’s intervention, which was not authorized by the UN Security Council, must be read as a strategy coping with the emotion anger about the perceived humiliation and provocation of status denial and ignorance by the West. We find various elements of such a coping strategy, among them the verbalization of the feeling of anger among Russian political circles and the media; uttering retaliation threats, but no ‘real’ aggressive, retaliatory action; minor and temporary activities aimed at restoring Russia’s image and status as an influential an equal power. On the surface, the Kosovo episode did not result in any visible break or rift in the RussianeWestern relationship. However, emotionally it has lead to a significant loss of trust in the respective partner on both sides.

Resumen

The competition of the television industry in Indonesia creates open spaces for the image of women with the aesthetic standards they create. Television now is no longer just a medium of entertainment but as an ideal female image construction. Beautiful rules are no longer focused on women-only programs but have penetrated the entertainment, religious, reportage, politics, sports, economy, and crime segments. This research is to answer the problem of women's image presented on television, the influence and response are generated; also, the strategies in managing their identity. Applicatively, this research applies the Identity Management Theory pioneered by William R. Cupach and Tadasu Todd Imahori. This theory is used to dismantle the process of identity formed, maintained, and changed in a relationship. This study found several keywords that formulated the concept of managing women's self-identity. These keywords are: force dead/stiff, cornered/alienated; dilemma; and unstable for the context of cultural conflict, and approach; adjustments; and rejuvenation for the completion phase.
