Resumen
AbstractA seismic velocity model is necessary to map depth and thickness of subsurface layers interpreted from seismic reflection images. We have built a seismic velocity model (VELMOD-1) for the entire Netherlands area, both onshore and offshore, using non-confidential data (sonic logs, time-depth pairs, lithostratigraphic marker depths and downhole position data) of 720 boreholes in DINO - National Geoscientific Portal, and a preliminary isochore map (in seismic traveltime representation) of the layer of the Zechstein Group. The model is based on the Vint-zmid method applied to the following

Recent work on cores and outcrops of the Middle-Upper Triassic Shublik Formation has facilitated surface to subsurface correlation of depositional sequences across the Alaska North Slope. Five transgressive-regressive depositional sequences have been defined within three large-scale stratigraphic units. Outcrop spectral gamma-ray (GR) profiles were used to correlate observed stacking patterns with nearby exploration wells, and GR logs from 161 exploration wells were used to correlate the three large-scale stratigraphic units across the North Slope and nearby offshore. ABSTRACT The enthalpy is a thermodynamic property that can be used to evaluate thermal environment for chickens, considering the meteorological variables that most influence the animal’s thermal comfort, the dry-bulb temperature and the relative humidity. The aim was to analyze and compare the spatial variability of enthalpy in a broiler aviary during three periods of the day (morning, afternoon and night) for 14 living days, using geostatistical techniques. The experiment was performed in a commercial broiler aviary located in the western mesoregion of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where 28,000 male

The Cambrian-Ordovician and Upper Cretaceous formations, which are the main oil-producing formations in the central Sirte Basin, are structurally complex. The lateral and vertical heterogeneity of the reservoir formations is not well-understood, which negatively affects the performance of the reservoirs. We constructed efficient full-field static models that incorporate the lateral and vertical variation of those reservoir formations by integrating geologic and geophysical data. We determined lithology and reservoir properties by selecting appropriate petrophysical techniques that suit the ava

A sequence stratigraphic framework is established for the Jurassic of the Danish Central Graben based primarily on petrophysical log data, core sedimentology and biostratigraphic data from about 50 wells. Regional seismic lines are used to assist in the correlation of some wells and in the construction of isochore maps. In the Lower Jurassic (Hettangian–Pliensbachian) succession, five sequences have been identified. The Middle Jurassic is subdivided into four sequences that together span the uppermost Aalenian/lowermost Bajocian to the Callovian. In the Upper Jurassic, better well coverage per

Abstract The sedimentary architecture and provenance of the early Mesozoic incipient northern Gulf of Mexico basin remains controversial due to both lack of outcrop exposure and sample scarcity across the southern United States with subcrop depths approaching 6 km. The Eagle Mills Formation and coeval deposition across the northern Gulf of Mexico provides both a stratigraphic foundation for some ∼15-km-thick overlying Mesozoic and Cenozoic deposits, and a coeval pre-salt equivalent for southern synrift deposits, in one of the most economically significant hydrocarbon basins in the world. Abstract The Portland and Tualatin basins are part of the Salish-Puget-Willamette Lowland, a 900-km-long, forearc depression lying between the volcanic arc and the Coast Ranges of the Cascadia convergent margin. Such inland seaways are characteristic of warm, young slab subduction. We analyzed the basins to better understand their evolution and relation to Coast Range history and to provide an improved tectonic framework for the Portland metropolitan area. We model three key horizons in the basins: (1) the top of the Columbia River Basalt Group (CRBG), (2) the bottom of the CRBG, and (3) the t

AbstractThe Beryl Field is located within Block 9/13 in the UK North Sea, in the west central part of the Viking Graben. The block was awarded in 1971 to a Mobil operated partnership, and the 9/13-1 discovery well drilled in 1972. The Beryl A platform was installed in 1975 and oil production started up the following year. The Beryl B platform was added in 1983 and production and gas re-injection pressure support commenced in 1984. The first 3D seismic survey was shot over the field in 1986, and the most recent in 1997. As of January 1999, 133 wells have been drilled into the field and developm

Resumen
This paper presents the operating principle of a novel solar rotary crank-less heat engine. The proposed engine concept uses air as working fluid. The reciprocating motion is converted to a rotary motion by the mean of unbalanced mass and Coriolis effect, instead of a crank shaft. This facilitates the engine scaling and provides several degrees of freedom in terms of structure design and configuration. Unlike classical heat engines (i.e. Stirling), the proposed engine can be fixed to the ground which significantly reduce the generation unit cost. Firstly, the engine’s configuration is illustra
