AbstractIn recent cosmopolitan work, scholars such as Julia Kristeva, Zygmunt Bauman, Jacques Derrida, and Ulrich Beck have represented the stranger as a universal ideal for our global age and Georg Simmel’s stranger in the Exkurs über den Fremden has been emphasized as a model for this ideal. While these uses can be justified by generalized passages in Simmel’s essay, they still omit the problem of European Jewish historical exemplarity. Thus, in the decades before Simmel’s essay, this stranger type was already a well-developed figure related to the so-called Jewish question. Georg Brandes and Henrik Pontoppidan used the Jewish stranger to evaluate the societal changes of the fin-de-siècle period and questions of progress vs. decay. Yet, their work limited the stranger to a specific type of Jewishness not including other marginal existences. Hence, reading Simmel with Brandes and Pontoppidan outlines the boundaries of this stranger type as it raises questions regarding recent cosmopolitan uses of Simmel’s stranger.

Orobanche Pancicii Beck, a New Species to the Flora of Slovenia We describe localities and sites of Orobanche pancicii, a new species of the Slovenian flora. It was recorded in the subalpine belt (1500 to 2000 m a.s.l.) on forest edges, clearings and on stony grasslands in the Julian Alps and the eastern Karavanke mountains, on the hosts Knautia drymeia, K. longifolia and Scabiosa lucida.

The Living Theatre is a metaphor for the sixties, its very name conjuring up the undulating movement, the pulsing flow, the argumentative spirit that characterized that time.At the center of the Living Theatre's production of Sophocles' Antigone, translator and director Judith Malina presented the verbal battle between the State/Authority/Patriarchal-figure, kreon (played by Living Theatre co-director Julian Beck), and the Individual/Disenfranchised/Woman, Antigone, (played by Malina herself). At performances of Antigone presented throughout Europe during the dynamic years of 1967 and 1968, spectators were meant to see with new eyes the incendiary struggles taking place outside the theatre. Following Antigone's example, they were meant to take on—individually—the political responsibility and the challenge, and to take part in revolutionary actions. Foregrounded onstage was the battle of the sexes, the battle of the generations, the fire in the belly of the cultural/sexual/political Zeitgeist.

This thesis is about two Swedish artists named Julia Beck (1852–1935) and Maj Bring (1880–1971). The idea was to see what kind of differences there were between these two Swedish female artists. They both studied at the Swedish Art academy and both had very successful careers, though they belong to different generations of artist. The first question to be answered, was is if you could see any similarities or differences in their education and career. The other question in this thesis was how the female art was perceived during the different art exhibitions which Julia Beck or Maj Bring participated in. Could you see if the art were perceived and judged differently due to, they being female artist? And could you see if there were any kind of resistance towards them as artists or towards their art and if so, how did it express itself? To answer that question the analysis is based on art exhibit reviews with a theory based on a gender perspective and of Linda Nochlins essay Why have there been no great women artists? This to help with looking after what kind of social barriers or resistance is visible in these art critics reviews.                                                                  The results of the biographical comparison showed many similarities and some differences. Such as them both studying in Paris after their education in the Swedish Art academy and both frequently traveled back and forth to stay in France for as long as possible. Eventually Julia Beck moved to France and stayed there until her death. While Maj Bring lived her entire life in Sweden and started an art school in Stockholm and paused her artist career for a while. Meanwhile Julia Beck dedicated her entire life to her artistic career. In the results of the analysis, you could clearly see several kinds of resistance to both the female art and the female artists. They were very much treated differently than their male colleagues. For example, in Paris there were specific places where the female artists showed their art. The critique reviews often explained the female art with female qualities and said that female artist had specific characteristics that made them more qualified in specific areas that was thought women belonged too.

This master thesis explores the image of Japan in the artistic creations during Japonism in Sweden. Japan and Sweden first started trading in 1868 and knowledge about Japan in Sweden were limited at best. With the emergence of the Western art movement known as Japonism, ranging from 1858 to 1914, fascination for the unknown country grew in Europe. As the art movement Japonism became the first era of interest of Japan in Sweden, the portrayal and subsequent image of the country that emerged during this time is of interest to examine, as to better understand how Japan was imagined by Sweden. Herein, this study aims to analyse the portrayal of Japan in artworks from Swedish artists during Japonism in order to examine what components and ideas composed the image of Japan conveyed during Japonism. A collection of visual artworks depicting Japanese elements, based on Japonism associated artists and creators, have been collected using digital archives and databases to assess what is depicted and how by the creators. Japanese elements, such as objects, clothes, people and landscapes were subsequently analysed using a visual analysis based on researcher Jules David Prown’s three-step method of analysing historical objects. Using the concept of the image, as defined by scholar Torsten Burgman, as the basis of the analysis the depictions of Japanese elements are examined and categorised into several larger and smaller components. The examination is conducted within a framework of ethnocentrism and orientalism to contextualise the image of Japan with the thought structures in 19th century Sweden, as the creators portrayed Japan from both a Swedish and Western Eurocentric colonial perspective. As the source material is artistic depictions, an additional aesthetic framework was applied to contextualise the image of Japan with its artistic medium. Four major image components were found in the material: Japan presented as a commodity; Japanese things as something feminine; Japan as something faraway and exotic, contrasting the West; and Japan as a reference or commentary on the ongoing Japonism movement. The image of Japan found in these depictions of Swedish Japonism was a Eurocentric and ethnocentric understanding of the country. Japan and Japanese things, were imagined as something exotic and beautiful, and usually conveyed as exotic commercial flair for Western women.

Beck, rassembles en 1982 et 1983, sous le titre de theandrique; du grec theos et andros. 1) fin de la iie guerre mondiale; deux influences majeures : l'ecole abstraite expressionniste de new york et le seminaire d'erwin piscator. En 1947, fondation du living theatre. Beck passe de la toile a la scene (1945-1963) 2) l'exil volontaire en europe produit un effet d'etrangete. Le living theatre cree collectivement un style de jeu ou l'engagement physique des acteurs est pousse a l'extreme par un effet de distanciation. Le living theatre est une societe experimentale. The thesis analyses the distance covered by the work of julian beck in the living theatre. The argument is that beck's concept of modern art manifests itself throughtout his work of art until the theater. The thesis includes an appendix; the translation into french of the last notebooks of julian beck, entitled theandric (from the greek theos and andros), reassembled by himself between 1982 and 1983. 1) end of world war ii; two major influences lead to the foundation of the living theatre, in 1947, the abstract expressionism chool of new york and erwin piscator workshop. Julian beck goes throught the frame of the painting to the frame of the stage. (1945-1963) 2) the voluntary exile throught europe produces an effect of estrangement. The living theatre cerates collectively as style of acting where the physical engagement of the actor is driven to the extremes throught an alienation effect. The living theatre is an experimental society. (1966-1968) 3) the legacy of cain is an ensemble of plays on the themes of power, money, property and revolutionary changes in direction of non specifically theatrical places. The living theatre completes his vocabulary of the movement by studying meyerhold's biomecanics. (1968 - 1978)

OBJETIVO: Determinar la prevalencia de ansiedad y depresión en pacientes hospitalizados del servicio de medicina. DISEÑO: Descriptivo – Observacional. LUGAR: Servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital 2 de Mayo PACIENTES Y MÉTODO: 104 pacientes seleccionados entre el mes de julio a diciembre del 2015 que fueron admitidos en las diferentes salas del servicio de Medicina (sala Julián Arce, Santo Toribio, San Andrés y Santa Ana), de los cuales todos ellos cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Se recogieron variables sociodemográficas, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), APACHE II, así como la evaluación de satisfacción del médico tratante. Los pacientes fueron clasificados como ansiosos si puntuaban 11 o más EN HAD y con depresión si puntuaban 10 o más en el BDI. MEDIDAS Y RESULTADOS: Se estudiaron 104 pacientes, con una edad media entre 45,7 años, el 50% eran varones y el otro 50% mujeres. La ansiedad estaba presente en el 23,1% los pacientes mientras que la depresión en el 27,88%. La ansiedad estaba presente en el 26.92% de las mujeres y 19,25% de los varones (p=0,003) y la depresión en el 100% de varones y 98,07% de las mujeres (p=0,006), cabe resaltar que el grado que se presentó con mayor frecuencia fue el de depresión moderada. Los pacientes con ansiedad y depresión no estaban más graves según el índice de APACHE. Los pacientes con ansiedad tenían menos edad (entre 27,1 años en promedio), menor escolarización (educación secundaria) de la misma manera que los pacientes con depresión. CONCLUSIONES: La prevalencia de ansiedad y depresión en enfermos hospitalizados es alta, especialmente en mujeres, sin guardar relación con la gravedad de la enfermedad, y se asocia a un menor tiempo de estancia hospitalaria.

Resumen
This essay examines the politics of New York's Living Theater, from its founding in late 1940s to the mid-1960s. He will outline Julian Beck and Judith Malina's anarchist-pacifism, their involvement in anti-nuclear bomb protests during the 1950s and early 1960s, and the increasingly confrontational tenor of their theater productions. Topics to be discussed include the abstract expressionist paintings of Beck, Malina's interest in the Gestalt theories of Paul Goodman, and the group's collaborations with composer John Cage, poet Jackson Mac Low, and the artists of the No! Art! movement. The chapter will close with group's departure for Europe in1964.

Depression is a major cause of disability for all ages and both sexes worldwide. Postpartum depression is often defined as depression occurring within the first year following childbirth. In most studies this includes those women for whom the depression may be a continuation of that experienced during pregnancy, as well as those for whom it is a new onset. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) does not recognize postpartum depression as diagnostically distinct from depression at other times, although does allow for the addition of a ‘postpartum-onset specifier’ in women with an onset within 4 weeks of birth. A recent systematic review of postpartum depression found the period prevalence of all depression to be 19.2% in the first 12 weeks postnatally, with a period prevalence for major depression of 7.1% (Gaynes et al. 2005). This review also identified depression to be common during pregnancy with a period prevalence of 18.4% across the 9 months of pregnancy, with 12.7% having an episode of major depression during this time. Not surprisingly, antenatal depression is a strong risk factor of postpartum depression. The cause of postpartum depression suggests a multifactorial aetiology (Beck 2001; O’Hara and Swain 1996). Despite considerable research, no single causative factor has been isolated. However, meta-analytic findings consistently highlight the importance of psychosocial variables such as stressful life events, marital conflict, and the lack of social support.
