Introduction
Physician wellness and burnout are topics of intensediscussion and study, however, less is known about rural physicianburnout. The aim of this study was to assess levels of physicianburnout in the rural Kansas community of Salina.
 Methods
An electronic, confidential survey was conducted among145 physicians with active privileges at the local health center and/orsurgical center. The survey included demographic features, practicecharacteristics, and the abbreviated Maslach Burnout Inventory™(aMBI). In addition, survey participants were invited to provide freetextre

New petroleum paradigms in mature basins can be derived from re-examining geological parameters without bias of preceding theory. Kansas has a long history of oil and gas production with over 300,000 wells drilled. Precambrian basement faults in Kansas control the development of later structures, and probably, reservoirs. This study and re-interpretation of geologic history has identified a possible new play along reverse and thrust faults of the Humboldt Fault Zone along the eastern margin of the Nemaha uplift. This paper also suggests that the lack of significant petroleum production in the

A gravity survey of the state of Kansas has been completed with compilation of 31,000 gravity data points covering the entire state. Repeat measurements at overlap stations indicate that the data are reliable to 0.1 mgal. A steep west-dipping gravity gradient in western Kansas corresponds to thickening of the crust to the west as evidenced by seismic-refraction results. Numerous residual anomalies remain after removal of the regional trend: a northeast-trending +60 mgal high with -30 mgal flanking lows in central Kansas, which is the southern end of the Midcontinent Geophysical Anomaly (MGA) a

Historically, refraction surveys have been conducted in hopes of mapping distinct layers within the earth. Refraction is a useful tool provided its limitations and the assumption that layers increase in seismic velocity with increasing depth are kept in mind. A traditional reversed-refraction profile was conducted along a 500-km (300-mi)-long east-west line extending from Concordia, Kansas, to Agate, Colorado. Analysis of the data showed an average crustal velocity of 6.1 km/sec (3.7 mi/sec) and an average upper-mantle Pn phase velocity of 8.29 km/sec (4.97 mi/sec) with a Moho depth calculated

As petroleum-exploration efforts in the midcontinent become directed toward smaller fields and the search for minerals is extended into new areas, the edges of the Salina and Forest City basins will become of increased interest to industry. The principal boundary feature between the two basins is the Nemaha Ridge, a linear feature that extends from near Omaha, Nebraska, to near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Recent seismic studies at the Kansas Geological Survey have revealed a complex array of faulted and folded structures in the vicinity of the Humboldt fault zone (the eastern flank of the Nemaha

Lower Paleozoic strata in southeastern Kansas, southwestern Missouri and northern Oklahoma are predominantly marine carbonates that comprise portions of three regional flow systems. Groundwaters in these three adjacent systems exhibit extreme chemical and isotopic variations that delineate large-scale fluid mixing processes and two distinct mechanisms for the generation of saline fluids. Hydrodynamic and geochemical data closely correlate with geographic location and indicate that each system contains waters of markedly different origins. Results of elemental and isotopic mass balance modeling

Abstract In every way, New Orleans was different from the other cities which incubated American modernism. Its heritage was cosmopolitan but predominantly French; it was Roman Catholic in religion; it was sexually liberated; it was proud of the arts and cultivated them. Of the arts available, music predominated: Philadelphia could have poetry, Chicago the novel, and Baltimore criticism; in New Orleans, people danced, sang, and played. Abstract To understand the highest good, one must first ask: What sort of concept is it? Since there are many kinds of concepts in Kant’s system, each with different functions relative to experience, this question is essential. Based on Kant’s taxonomy and own uses, it is either an “idea” or an “ideal.” I then present a novel view on the distinction between ideas and ideals as technical terms. While the distinction is well known, deeper analysis of it is often skipped over in the literature or not viewed as salient for understanding the role that these distinct concepts play in experience. Summer was a time for transplanting prairie wildflowers. We knew that we wanted to restore prairie on the cornfield in front of the Shack. How did we know where we could get these prairie species? Of course there were no commercial sources at all. We had heard that prairie species were especially prolific along railroad tracks, because in those days the railroad frequently burned them to control brush. So we would stop there during different parts of the summer and find the prairie species in bloom (so we could identify them), or along an old road cut where we felt we could dig up chunks of so

Abstract Synthetically prepared low-salinity brines are usually used for mechanistic and improved oil recovery studies in carbonate rocks. However, in actual onshore field applications, using nearby produced water with low or seawater-like salinities could potentially yield optimized waterflooding economics. In this work, field samples from Central Kansas Uplift oil production formations were acquired and tested for the potential increase in oil production from mature oil reservoirs. As market forces drive up the gross weight on rail, railroads continue moving toward increased usage of heavy axle load (HAL) equipment, namely 286,000 lb and 315,000 lb GWR vehicles that provide more competitive and efficient transportation. According to the AAR's Universal Machine Language Equipment Register (UMLER) database, since 1995, at least 70% of vehicles built each year were HAL vehicles. 2005 had 49,923 more HAL vehicles running on the North America railroad system than the previous year. This practice can result in significant overall savings in operating costs. However, HAL equipm
