Resumen
L’oeuvre romanesque de Kossi Éfoui est marquée par l’urgence d’Être. Kossi Éfoui donne le plus souvent un appareil photo à l’un de ses personnages. Photos de presse, photos d’artiste ou photos d’identité fixent des images que le narrateur regarde. Elles deviennent objet du récit. Deux langages différents se côtoient, ils sont le véhicule d’une nouvelle réalité à représenter et à se représenter. Puisque pour Kossi Éfoui un mot n’est jamais épuisé dans ce qu’il a à dire, l’esthétique romanesque de cet écrivain semble, d’un livre à l’autre user de la plasticité de ce genre littéraire pour s’en servir comme d’un « révélateur » de l’acte de lire confronté aux mutations techniques de notre monde, pour s’en servir -aussi - comme "révélateur" de l’homme d’aujourd’hui. La lecture est un acte à éprouver. Ce dramaturge écrit des romans pour, dit-il, pouvoir prendre son temps. De fait, la forme romanesque est féconde.

Ce mémoire vise à analyser les performances du langage, c’est-à-dire sa thématisation et ses effets dans les romans La fabrique de cérémonies et L’ombre des choses à venir de Kossi Efoui. Dans le premier chapitre, il s’attache à exposer les principaux discours que l’auteur convoque dans ses œuvres et à montrer de quelle manière ils s’articulent à l’Histoire : Histoire de la traite des Noirs, de l’esclavage, de la colonisation et de l’évangélisation des pays africains, et Histoire d’une culture qui s’est imposée en valorisant un ordre mondial néolibéral. Les discours en circulation dans la société du texte se caractérisent par leur visée manipulatrice. Ils travestissent la réalité et témoignent d’un désir de domination qui empiète sur les droits fondamentaux des hommes. Le second chapitre examine quant à lui les stratégies littéraires par lesquelles l’auteur déconstruit ces discours manipulateurs et dénonce les absurdités du monde social. Théâtralisation de la narration, ironie, intertextualité et métatextualité sont autant d’éléments d’une écriture subtile, qui dévoile en même temps qu’elle voile ses enjeux critiques.

Foi desenvolvido com base na observação como principal ferramenta metodológica, tanto com relação à investigação empírica, realizada na festa de Santa Bárbara, que ocorre tradicionalmente no dia 04 de dezembro, no Centro Histórico da cidade de Salvador-BA, quanto no processo de criação realizado em laboratórios criativos. Essa dissertação tem como resultado o esboço poético do futuro espetáculo intitulado Kossi D’ Oya que, atualmente, é constituído de três cenas – “Olho do Mundo”, “Ar em Cantos”, “Dentro de mim” – os quais são analisados à luz da Etnocenologia, numa perspectiva estética criativa. O objetivo buscado foi refletir sobre como o corpo das DICs interpreta ou expressa a sua visão sobre essa manifestação cultural. Aprofundamos ainda reflexão sobre o corpo afrodescendente das mulheres-negras do Centro Comercial Santa Bárbara e do cortejo em procissão nessa festividade. Assim, a memória das DICs imersas nessa manifestação da cultura baiana ganha destaque, para o acolhimento dos referenciais objetivados à poética em dança.<br>Salvador

Les différentes interventions de l'état dans les campagnes surtout dans la zone cotonnière, au Burkina Faso, pour impulser le développement économique et social ont entrainé de profondes modifications des systèmes de culture ainsi que les conditions d'existence des paysans. En effet, grâce, aux différents projets de développement, amorces essentiellement au début des années 70, le développement de la culture du coton va bouleverser les conditions de production (introduction de la culture attelée, du tracteur du traitement phytosanitaire etc. ). Les conséquences seront non seulement l'augmentation des surfaces cultivées, de la production vivrière mais aussi une accélération de la déstructuration des structures sociales traditionnelles et l'amorce d'une différenciation sociale. D'autre part, la sécurité alimentaire offerte par la clémence des conditions climatiques de la zone cotonnière associée a la certitude de gains monétaires grâce aux revenus du coton ont déclenché un vaste mouvement migratoire en provenance du plateau central, ce qui accentue la pression démographique mais soulève aussi les questions de l'intégration des migrants dans la mesure ou les structures et les pratiques sociales de leurs provinces d'origine sont très différentes de celles des autochtones<br>The various state - controlled interventions in the country (especially in the cotton - growing areas of burkina faso) in order to give a fresh impetus to both social and economic development have brought about deep changes where peasants' cultivation systems and living conditions are concerned. As a matter of fact, thanks to the different development projects (that have been initiated since a beginning of the 70's), the development of cotton growing has been changing the productions by bringing new means of production (namely harnassed cultivation, tractors and phytosanitary pesticides). The consequences of this "revolution" not only include of increase of both cultivated areas and subsistence crops, but also a deintegration of traditional social structures. On the other hand, the food security resulting from rather good climatic conditions in the ares devoted to cotton growing along with the substantial income from this crop have acted as the trigger of a large - scale migration (from the central plateau) which, in its turn, increases population pressure but also raise the question of the migrants' integration, since the structures and social practices of their province of origin are different from those of the natives

Depuis la période coloniale et surtout à partir de la grande sècheresse du début des années 1970, le yatenga (nord-ouest du Burkina Faso) connait une série de "mauvaises" années du point de vue de la production agricole. Cette crise de la production, puis les problèmes alimentaires qui en découlent, ne s'explique pas seulement par la péjoration des conditions écologiques mais aussi par des pratiques anthropiques conçues pour atténuer les effets néfastes des risques mais qui ont fini par les exacerber. Devant l'ampleur du déséquilibre vivrier (déficits céréaliers chroniques et fréquents) les anciens systèmes de régulation androgène pour la couverture intégrale des besoins de consommation sont inefficaces. Les solutions adoptées par la société sont : l'émigration en particulier les mouvements de colonisation agricole du Burkina (Kossi, notamment), le recours à d'autres sources de revenu (pas forcement agricole) et les achats sur le marché des vivres, cette dernière solution étant une des conséquences de la première. La sécurité alimentaire de la région passe désormais par la; les commerçants et les migrants en sont les principaux artisans<br>Since the colonial period and particularly since the great drought in the beginning of the 70's, as far as food production is concerned the yatenga (north-western part of Burkina Faso) knows a series of "bad" years. This production crisis coupled with the food problems which follow from that are not only explained by the pejoration of the ecological conditions but by the pratices conceived by human beings with a view to softening the harmful effects which exacerbate them in the end. In the face of the sbeer seale of the food producing gap (a non-stop cereal producing gap) the old systems of endogenous regulations for the satisfaction of the food consumytion needs turn out to be inefficacious. In the face of such problems this society has its awn solutions which are : emigration (particularly movements related to the "farm colonization" in the western part of Burkina (Kossi), the resort to toher sources of income means (not necessarily related to agricultural ones) and shopping at the markets that last soluton is derived from the consequences of the first one. Food security that area is benceforth insured through. .

Le présent travail explore les préfigurations et les configurations mémorielles, du moins les revenances comme un retour sur les profondeurs d'une anamnèse qui engage la réflexivité d'un sujet. Ce travail cherche à valoriser le potentiel herméneutique de la mémoire au présent. Il se désolidarise d'une vision strictement passéiste de l'acte mnésique pour emprunter les contours d'une mémoire toujours à venir. Car, s'il faut entendre le souvenir comme ce qui fait revenir le passé, il n'est pas certain que ce dernier appartienne exclusivement au passé. L'acte de la souvenance se produit dans une sorte de duplicité/dédoublement qui se traduit par le fait que quelqu'un puisse se souvenir à moment donné de quelque chose. Ce qui veut dire qu'il y a une présence du sujet à lui-même, une présence qui le manifeste et le met en route en direction du passé. Cette présence à soi est du ressort d'une temporalité spécifique. Il faut absolument qu'un temps se soit écoulé pour qu'on puisse s'en rappeler ici et maintenant. Le présent élabore la mémoire, s'emploie à son effectivité, c'est-à-dire à sa reconstruction. Ainsi, en insistant sur les constructions ontologiques et historiques, les considérations éthiques et politiques de la mémoire, notre réflexion sur la représentation du passé traite des rapports de la conscience subjective et/ou collective au temps, à l'histoire, au devenir. À cet égard, contre une certaine épistémè qui trop souvent définit la mémoire comme le miroir exclusif de l'expérience passée, cette recherche interroge le passé, non pas dans une percée nostalgique déterminante, mais plutôt dans une intention de légitimation du consentement de l'être à refuser la gangrène de la mort et l'usure du temps. Que l'individu se souvienne, clairement, confusément, sans effort, avec l'assurance et l'ivresse d'un bonheur ou le déplaisir d'une angoisse traversée par la honte et la mélancolie, il va sans dire que ce dernier n'a plus à choisir entre un devoir et un oubli de mémoire, entre passé et présent, entre un déjà-là et un-pas-encore-là. Se souvenir veut dire se rappeler pour dépasser le mal, pour changer de place, pour être vivant. De ce point de vue, la pratique poético-herméneutique de la mémoire au présent consiste précisément à comprendre l'existence et le devenir de l'être en situation<br>This work explores the foreshadowing and memory configurations, at least the revenances as a return to the depths of a history that engages the reflexivity of a subject. This work seeks to enhance the potential of hermeneutics memory to the present. It disengages a strictly backward-looking vision of the mnemonic act to borrow the outlines of memory still to come. For if it means the memory as making back the past, it is not certain that it belongs exclusively to the past. The act of remembrance occurs in a kind of duplicity / duplication resulting in the fact that someone can remember at some point something. This means that there is a presence of the subject himself, a presence that the manifesto and puts it off in the direction of the past. This self-presence is the responsibility of a specific temporality. It is imperative that a time has passed for us to remember here and now. This develops memory, works to its effectiveness, that is to say, its reconstruction. Thus, emphasizing the ontological and historical buildings, ethical and political considerations of memory, our thinking about the representation of the past deals with the relationship of subjective consciousness and / or collectively to time, to history, to become. My thesis is an in-depth analysis of the writings of three Italian migrant writers. Specifically, I discuss several of the different forms taken by orality and explore the relationship between orality and literacy, by analysing the work of three important figures: Kossi Komla Ebri (from Togo), Tahar Lamri (from Algeria) and Yousif Jaralla (from Iraq). I have chosen to concentrate on them because of the originality of their works which possess distinctive literary qualities. My aim is to establish a new formal and aesthetic approach to "migrant writers", in order to: 1) enhance the current literary and critical debate (mostly influenced, in Italy, by thematic and sociological concerns); 2) question the Italian literary canon, which should definitely include "migrant writers" for the literary and aesthetic quality of their works. From a theoretical viewpoint my analysis has taken as its starting points, the idea of oral-literary continuum and Derrida's views on oralite vs. ecriture to challenge the perception of orality (and "oralitura") as an inferior and unsophisticated form of storytelling. This is a perception which is often shared by the authors I discuss and by their critics. I challenge this perception by revealing the literary sophistication of these works through an analysis of the formal patterns they exhibit. This clearly emerges especially in my analysis of the work of Iraqi storyteller Yousif Jaralla, on whose work there are very few in-depth studies. In my chapter on Jaralla I have focussed my account on two aspects of his work: his conception of himself as a storyteller who delivers oral narratives and the stylistic elements which he employs to give a musical rhythm to his tales. iv

A la croisée d’enjeux aussi bien philosophiques, politiques, qu’anthropologiques, cette thèse en études théâtrales vise à théoriser la notion de « drame figuratif » en analysant l’esthétique singulière que développe Kossi Efoui dans son œuvre dramatique. Dramaturge, philosophe et romancier, né en 1962 au Togo, Kossi Efoui annonce par ses positions politiques et ses partis pris poétiques, dès la pièce Le Carrefour, le tournant esthétique majeur que prendront les dramaturgies d’Afrique noire francophones et des diasporas au début des années 1990. Traversé par l’histoire coloniale et l’histoire des migrations, son théâtre interroge le corps diasporique et remet en question les déterminismes identitaires construits par le discours historique et l’essor du capitalisme depuis les traites négrières. Cette esthétique procède d’un geste théâtral qui relève d’une écriture de la figuration, et dont nous interrogeons le paradoxe afin d’en définir les modalités dramaturgiques. Car dans ce théâtre, le contenu discursif est marqué par une omniprésence du corps, alors que sa représentation fait l’objet d’une quête pour les personnages qui en sont le plus souvent dépourvus. Travaillée par divers modes de production du texte (intertextualité, transtextualité, fragmentation, décomposition, assemblage, geste du plateau) l’écriture dramaturgique opère toutes sortes de détours qui relèvent des univers du masque et des arts de la marionnette et explorent le corps scénique et les dispositifs théâtraux en vue d’un processus de résilience. En analysant cette dramaturgie du détour marionnettique nous questionnons la présence des corps et des voix dans le matériau textuel lui-même, leurs liens avec le plateau, et l’existence possible d’un geste plastique produisant une figure qui émanerait de l’écriture, pour prendre place sur « les lieux de la scène », selon la formule fétiche de Kossi Efoui. Le corps convoque ici des territoires d’ordre politique et se fait l’écho des traumas qui nous hantent et nous mettent collectivement à l’épreuve. En faisant de l’espace théâtral une interface mnémonique, l’écriture emprunte des voies de création transdisciplinaires qui renouvellent notre conception de la dramaturgie et déploient ce que nous identifions comme « une esthétique du drame figuratif »<br>At the crossroads of philosophical, political and anthropological issues, this dissertation in theatre studies aims to theorize the notion of "figurative drama" through analyzing Kossi Efoui's aesthetics in his dramatic work. A playwright, philosopher and novelist, born in 1962 in Togo, Kossi Efoui’s political and poetical choices foreshadowed, from his first play Le Carrefour, the major aesthetical turn taken by the dramaturgies of French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa and diasporas at the beginning of 1990s. Shaped by colonial history and the history of migrations, Kossi Efoui’s theater put the diasporic body in question, as well as the identities that were assigned by historical discourses and by the rise of capitalism since the time of the slave trade. This aesthetics is the result of a theatrical attitude based on a figurative writing. By questioning this paradoxical attitude, this dissertation shows how it is translated into dramaturgical choices. Indeed, in Kossi Efoui’s theater, on one side the body is everywhere in discourses, while on the other side it’s missing on stage: the characters are most often deprived of a body and looking for one. Shaped by various ways of producing text (intertextuality, transtextuality, fragmentation, decomposition, assembly, gesture of the stage) the dramaturgical writing makes a detour via the universe of the mask and the puppetry arts, thereby exploring the actor’s body and the theatrical devices in order to create a process of resilience. By analyzing this dramaturgical detour via puppetry, this dissertation questions the presence of bodies and voices in the textual material itself and their relationships to the stage. It formulates the hypothesis of an attitude, producing a figure that comes from the writing and takes its place on stage (on les lieux de la scène, as Kossi Efoui calls it). The body becomes a political territory and summons up haunting traumas that put the collectivity to the test. By using the theatrical space as a mnemonic interface, the writing takes trans-disciplinary creative paths, renews our conception of dramaturgy and produces what we identify as "an aesthetics of figurative drama"

Resumen
La relation esthétique aux œuvres lues est traduite ici par une approche biopoétique de la diversité culturelle, qui nous autorise à la transcrire en termes d’écologie entendue comme ce qui a trait aux relations, aux interactions mais aussi aux ruptures et aux brisures du lien. Il s’agit d’abord de revenir sur la notion de patrimoine en proposant différents usages de la littérature par un sujet lecteur prenant ses distances vis-à-vis des mondanités institutionnelles. La ritualisation de la relation au texte d’autrui bannit les pétrifications monumentales redevables à une logique cartographique destinée à compartimenter les productions littéraires. À partir de là, on remarque que la resymbolisation de la trajectivité du lecteur au sein des balisages institutionnels infléchit les voies prescriptives d’une lecture clivée et permet d’envisager la lecture comme un geste scriptural à l’origine de nouvelles genèses littéraires. La bibliothèque intérieure situe les diversités interprétatives sous le signe d’un humanisme écologique qui décline à présent l’œuvre lue en texte-paysage, texte-habitat et texte-écosystème dans lequel se diffractent des individualités redonnant vie aux livres endormis. La notion de plasticité vivante enfin nous permet de poursuivre une approche écologisée de la littérature francophone en tant que médiateur culturel, ouvrant à de nouvelles perspectives de mise en récit du monde. La reconfiguration des œuvres littéraires se réalise sous le signe d'une écoplastie digne de transfigurer les interférences culturelles à l'oeuvre dans l'activité littéraire: la mobilité et l'organicité membranique de ces transactions redéfinissent l'hospitalité envers autrui<br>This dissertation considers the aesthetic relation between the reader and literary texts from a biopoetic viewpoint, thus translating cultural diversity into ecological terms that are linked to the dynamics of relations and interactions, of ruptures and fractures. Therefore it is first necessary to reconsider the notion of patrimony by taking into account the different ways in which the reading subject takes his distance toward social institutions. Ritualizing the relation to the texts of others excludes the monumentalizing petrification due to a cartographical logic aiming to compartmentalize literary production. We notice furthermore that the resymbolization of the reader’s trajectory within institutional boundaries bends the disassembling reading that is dictated and considers reading rather as a scriptural gesture initiating a new literary genesis. The interior library associates the multiplication of interpretations to an ecologic humanism that transforms the read literary work into a text-landscape, a text-habitat, a text-ecosystem, in which individualities are diffracted, thus giving live to dormant texts. The notion of living plasticity leads us finally to an ecologized approach of francophone literature as a cultural mediator implying new perspectives for narrating the world. Reconfigurating literary texts is realized through ecoplasticy and its capabilities to transfigure cultural interferences present in literary activity: the mobility and membranic organicity of these transactions redefine the hospitality shown toward others
