Resumen
The larger context of this conference was the annual festival of early music in Thuringia known as Güldener Herbst (Golden Autumn). The series of concerts, church services, guided tours and similar events in late September and early October took note of the three hundredth anniversaries of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's birth on 8 March 1714 and Philipp Heinrich Erlebach's death a few weeks later, on 17 April. Since Bach was born in Weimar (central Germany) but worked primarily in the northern cities of Berlin and Hamburg, and Erlebach, conversely, hailed from a small town in the far northwest bu

The Middle Pleistocene site Bilzingsleben II is well-known for its wealth of vertebrate and archaeological remains. Of particular importance is the record of Homo erectus bilzingslebenensis. Most palaeontologists consider the find horizon as a primary vertebrate deposit formed during human occupation, while some archaeologists attribute its formation to turbulent gravitational mass flows, inundation or a combination of both. Here we present mortality profiles of the beavers Castor and Trogontherium to provide further arguments to this controversial discussion. The mortality profiles of Castor

The Constitutions of the states and provinces that were part of the Soviet occupation zone of Germany can be divided into two groups. The Constitutions of Saxony-Anhalt, Mecklenburg and Saxony included a section on basic rights, and also enshrined the right to work. In contrast, the Constitutions of Thuringia and Brandenburg contained neither a section on basic rights nor the right to work. While considering the period 1945-1949 attention should also be paid to the acts of both the Soviet Military Administration in Germany and the German authorities, which, among other things, were aimed at ov

With the reunification of Germany, a Jenaplan School was founded in 1991 in the city of Jena,Thuringia. Since then one place of the city carried Petersen's name. The University School at Jena, refounded by Petersen as Life Community School in 1924 (the traditional purpose as a mere teacher training school goes back to the year 1844) and received international attention during the Weimar Republic. Petersen's attempt to gain recognition in the Hitler state (1933-1945) with his reform pedagogy failed, but the University School was allowed to continue to exist. In 1950 it was closed by the sociali

Abstract Background Telemedicine applications are becoming more accepted and offer great potential to support physicians and patients. However, there is an increasing need for research, especially in personal predictors that determine the interest and use of telemedicine and e-health applications. This study aims to identify if attachment and patient activation are potential predictors of the interest in and the use of e-health applications in primary care patients. Methods We used data from the cross-sectional observational Weimar TelMed study on 192 patients treated by general practitioners

AbstractThe Red Kite has come to the forefront of general consciousness in recent decades. A major contributing factor has been repeated collisions of these raptors with wind turbines and the important role they play in the approval process for new turbines. Efforts to improve their protection sometime encounter challenges due to limited knowledge about some life history aspects, e.g., their flight altitude and flight activity. We investigated these parameters from 2012 to 2018 in an approximately 1000-km2 study area in the vicinity of Weimar (Federal State of Thuringia, Federal Republic of Ge

Resumen
AbstractBad Berka is a small spa town in Germany, in the state of Thuringia, near the historical cultural city of Weimar with a population of roughly 8000. Natural beauty and spa attracted some prominent personalities of Germany including Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Any town associated with Goethe has a special place in history.Bad Berka also happened to be the place in Germany where Prof. Dr. Richard Paul Baum created the “First Theranostics Empire” on the World Map through the living principle of his life “Rerum cognoscere causas and Carpe diem!”. Resumen
Abstract When the Nazis came to power in 1933, a widespread debate began in judicial circles on which method of execution would be most appropriate in view of the new principles of penal policy being enacted in the Third Reich. At this time traditional methods of execution were still widespread in Germany. The handheld axe was still used in most of Germany, including Prussia, while the guillotine was employed in Bavaria, Württemberg, Baden, Saxony, Thuringia, Bremen, Oldenburg, and Hesse. The axe was frequently condemned abroad as barbaric, and was felt by some influential figures to be someth
