Resumen
This research presents experimentation of MOODLE course management system for teaching software engineering and process modelling to master’s degree students. The students used MOOLE for online discussions, assignments and for downloading lecture notes for a duration of four months. Thereafter, they evaluated the learning environment with questionnaires. The results indicate that MOODLE is a highly accepted learning management system for teaching and learning in a resource limited country. However, for a learning management system like MOODLE to be effectively implemented in a University setting, it is important for the University management toinvest in the initial computer hardware equipment and Internet connectivity infrastructure to overcome technology barriers. Keywords · MOODLE · Blended learning · E-learning

Resumen
The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) has used Moodle, an open source course management system since 2007. While the application allowed the university to deploy all its courses online, Moodle still presents limitations. The compartmentalised nature of courses within the system inhibits the sharing of learning objects and resources across users. Furthermore, while it does have social networking capabilities to a certain degree (by many accounts more so than other learning management systems), Moodle provides little flexibility when it comes to collaborative learning. Technical issues also hampered the performance of a number of built-in functionalities, which in turn gets in the way of the learning experience. These limitations encouraged facilitators and students alike to opt for third party web applications to fulfil course requirements. This research project aimed to address these limitations by expanding upon the functionalities of Moodle. This was achieved through the installation of modules and plugins within Moodle itself and the integration of external web applications such as conferencing, blogging, e-portfolios and rich media content management through single sign on (SSO). This expansion brought about a number of achievements. First, learning activities were made available which were either new or improved upon what Moodle had by default. This expanded learning management system was piloted with two courses under the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies programme, which Moodle has been historically ill-equipped to accommodate on its own. Findings of this study were based on the analysis of performance as well as firsthand feedback from users, which in turn is to be used for the continual improvement of UPOU's online course deployment.

Resumen
In the current work, systems based on mini/micro PCs that can support the corporate learning management practices have been evaluated. As a learning management system, the Moodle platform was chosen. The evaluation was based on the end users' experience. For measurement, carried out in three dimensions, a questionnaire was distributed among students enrolled in the blended course, offered with online support. According to results of the study, the installation of Moodle on micro PC was evaluated as slow. However, students agree that given the price of the device, it can be used as an alternative for the existing version of LMS used in the university. Ease of use of the system, working on micro PC, was also evaluated lower compared to the one on the server. In addition, students evaluated the security on the Moodle version installed on the device higher compared to the one in use.

Resumen
Moodle is one of the most popular Learning Management System (LMS) in the world. However, this kind of system always suffer the burden of large amount of user connections in a short period of time, such that the front end web servers and the rear end database servers became the bottleneck of the whole system. In the LMS system, the most challenges are to provide the rapid response, the system stability, the system flexibility, the system scalability, and the fault tolerance. Currently, the problems of system overloading are solved by the load balancing scheme, which still have a lot of limitations. In this paper, the proposed scheme, based on the load balancing scheme, combines the mercy of Moodle network scheme and the separate of database in order to improve the performance both on the level of systems and applications for the situation of large amount users. From the performance evaluation, the proposed scheme is superior to the existing system model.

AbstractLearning management system (LMS) is a media created specifically to facilitate the teaching and learning process, exchange information and collect web-based tasks online. In Indonesia, especially universities have national standards of higher education (SN Dikti) which were made by the ministry of research, technology and higher education number 44 in 2015 to regulate the learning system. Therefore, there needs to be research that can adjust the features of the LMS with the Higher Education SN. One of the most widely used LMS in Indonesia is moodle, the LMS platform that is open source and can be developed on its own. This research utilizes moodle to find features that can be used in the learning process and then adjusted to the learning process standards at the Higher Education SN. Feature selection results will be implemented into the Moodle system using system development methods namely feature-oriented software development (FOSD), FOSD has four stages of development, namely domain analysis, where features will be selected to get the appropriate features. The results obtained 12 features in moodle and will be implemented. The next stages are domain design and specifications by creating feature models, use case and activity diagrams. Resumen
Learning Management Systems (LMSs) have been widely adopted in higher education worldwide, but predominately used as repositories of learning materials. Mobile access to LMSs enables greater mobility and flexible learning, and thus may help boosting non-repository uses of LMSs, maximizing their educational affordance. This study examined the extent to which mobile access to an LMS, Moodle, was used for various learning activities, with a focus on those beyond storing and retrieving learning materials, as well as the factors influencing students’ non-repository uses of LMS via mobile access. A mixed-method approach was applied, with survey responses collected from 316 students and interviews with 26 students and five instructors across nine courses in a comprehensive university in Hong Kong. The results showed that mobile access to non-repository uses of Moodle was significantly less frequent than that to repository uses across all courses, and students viewed mobile access to the Moodle platform largely as a backup to supplement computer access. Findings suggested four inter-related factors influencing mobile access to LMS for non-repository uses, including course LMS activity design, instructors’ attitudes towards LMS, the nature of tasks conducted with LMS, and situational contexts.

Resumen
This paper presents an empirical study and related activity system analysis regarding the implementation and use of Moodle specifically, and learning management systems in general, in problem-based learning. The research involved an exploration of the characteristics that defined use of Moodle at a Danish university, the reasons why Moodle was or was not used in specific contexts and the way in which Moodle use was perceived by students. Some of the obstacles and challenges identified through this study highlighted the need for a deeper analysis of the elements that characterised the activity system(s) and their contradictions in this contextual setting, leading to a consideration of possible implications for change processes. The investigation consisted of a literature review, a survey of 345 students regarding their experiences with Moodle in conjunction with a nomination for the best Moodle course, an analysis of the 178 nominated courses and interviews with four university teachers about their use of Moodle. This examination revealed that many existing Moodle activities at Aalborg University focus more on sharing information and teaching materials and less on the students’ problem-based learning activities and projects. This finding is intriguing, as use of Moodle does not reflect that problem-based learning comprises the pedagogical foundation of Aalborg University’s academic programme. The investigation uncovered several reasons for the lack of focus on problem-based learning in Moodle structures and content and explored them through the contradictions identified within the activity systems and between the double contextual frame surrounding the interacting activity system.

Resumen
Тhe pandemic, which created educational problems in Ukraine, led to the significant changes in the educational organization. All higher education institutions have mooved to distance learning. Thanks to the usage of distance learning systems, Moodle, which is its own website content management system, specifically designed to create quality online teaching courses, has a wide range of opportunities, and very actual. The purpose of our article is to show how the usage of the distance learning system Moodle during the study of the course «Higher and Applied Mathematics» affects the organization of independent students work, which is the basis of higher education. After all, only the knowledge that a person came to on their own way, become a really strong asset. Description of applied research methods: (i) Theoretical: analysis of pedagogical, psychological and special literature in order to justify the need to use the learning management system Moodle in the process of distance learning; generalization of domestic and foreign researches results on the specified problem. (ii) Empirical: pedagogical observations, conversations with teachers and students of higher education on the use of distance learning Moodle in the course «Higher and Applied Mathematics». The results of the research indicate that the advantages of the Moodle learning platform while studying the discipline «Higher and Applied Mathematics» allow not only to effectively organize independent work of students, but also to increase their motivation through the usage of new forms and methods of teaching. And this, in turn, allows not only to intensify the learning of students, but also lays a solid foundation for their further continuing self-education. As you can see, the integration of traditional and modern distance technologies in the organization of the educational process in higher education institutions allows to make more effective the quality of the entire educational process in a whole.

Resumen
Several higher education institutions have harnessed e-learning tools to empower the application of different learning models that enrich the educational process. Nevertheless, the reliance on commercial or open-source platforms, in some cases, to deliver e-learning could impact system acceptability, usability, and capability. Therefore, this study suggests design methods to develop effective learning management capabilities such as attendance, coordination, course folder, course section homepage, learning materials, syllabus, emails, and student tracking within a university portal named MyGJU. In particular, mechanisms to facilitate system setup, data integrity, information security, e-learning data reuse, version control automation, and multi-user collaboration have been applied to enable the e-learning modules in MyGJU to overcome some of the drawbacks of their counterparts in Moodle. Such system improvements are required to motivate both educators and students to engage in online learning. Besides, features comparisons between MyGJU with Moodle and in-house systems have been conducted for reference. Also, the system deployment outcomes and user survey results confirm the wide acceptance among instructors and students to use MyGJU as a first point of contact, as opposed to Moodle, for basic e-learning tasks. Further, the results illustrate that the in-house e-learning modules in MyGJU are engaging, easy to use, useful, and interactive.

The present study derives dimensions from technology acceptance model and assesses the association between the faculty's satisfaction, perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU) in a Moodle-based learning management system. The data collection was done using a questionnaire from one hundred and ninety-nine faculty of B-Schools, using Moodle as the LMS. The findings indicate that both ease of use and perceived usefulness are significant predictors of faculty satisfaction from MOODLE LMS. In addition to the aforementioned TAM constructs, the study has measured moderating impact of demographic variables like city, gender and age. These variables are important differentiators in the Indian context, as LMS is a relatively new adoption in Indian education industry. The study reports that although age is a differentiator between two defined groups, it is however not significantly moderating the relationship between PEOU and satisfaction with Moodle. Gender and type of city (metro versus non-metro cities) have significantly moderated the relationship between PEOU and the satisfaction with Moodle. The study also labels constraints in terms of LMS usage and give suggestions towards its effective use. Henceforth, any similar system must incorporate these constructs to improve the satisfaction and adoption of the LMS by instructors.

Resumen
[Title: Moodle E-Learning, the 21st Century Physics Learning Media] A distinctive characteristic of 21st-century learning is digital communication, meaning that the learning process is no longer face to face course between teachers and students but is more of an internet-based (e-learning) modern learning. The process of implementing e-learning requires a Learning Management System (LMS) which functions to regulate the management of learning. One of the LMS that can be used in organizing e-learning learning is moodle. Moodle e-learning can be used as a medium to improve the quality of interactive learning and support for the implementation of blended learning. Through e-learning moodle learning material can be accessed anytime and anywhere, besides that the material can be enriched with various learning resources including multimedia, which can be quickly updated by the instructor. In addition, the facilities offered in moodle e-learning learning are able to display learning materials that are abstract in nature into material that can be witnessed in person. Material samples that are mostly abstract are material on physics subjects. Therefore, moodle electronic learning is expected to be able to help students master the concepts in physics learning.

Resumen
The implementation of distance learning is carried out with the help of modern systems of distance education. They allow to teach and to assess the knowledge of interns and doctors quickly and easily, regardless of their location. The aim of the study. A comparative review of the most well-known distance learning platforms, wich are designed to organize the learning process and control learning with the help of Internet technology. System of distance education is a virtual classroom with the possibility to train interns and doctors from different regions of Ukraine at the same time. There are many educational platforms for distance learning nowadays, such as Moodle (Australia), iSpring Learn LMS (Russia), Collaborator (Ukraine), eTutorium LMS (Ukraine), Opigno (Belgium), Atutor (Canada). Moodle is a free platform that allows users to create individual courses. It supports more than 100 languages. iSpring Learn LMS is a simple and user-friendly system that is a paid alternative to Moodle. Collaborator is a platform that works effectively on all modern devices and browsers and is virtually independent of the software of the user's device. eTutorium LMS is a virtual distance learning system that allows to create an online course of any complexity quickly. Opigno is a modern free distance education system based on Drupal (a popular content management system). Atutor, like Moodle, is an open web-based e-learning system. Conclusion. Distance learning systems differ not only functionally, but also in the way they solve problems. The simplicity of use of the platform depends on the degree of its adaptation to the needs of the user and the ability to use all existing features and functions of the system.

Resumen
This study analyzes the workflow experiences in the teaching-learning process of teachers and students enrolled in mixed (face to face /distance education) and distance education systems. The main objective is to evaluate Moodle, Learning Management System with the systematized Brief Inventory of Experiences. In this study we measure and compare the flow and comfort experiences of a population of 8140 participants, divided into two groups: 320 teachers and 7820 students. We can conclude that there is a significant difference in the p <0.05 level, in the following two variables: 1) When performing the activity, I forget about the problems and concerns and 2) I do things spontaneously and automatically. Tasks they must face in order to provide the students the appropriate tools in order to learn. In addition to this challenge, the teacher does not achieve an optimal level of comfort throughout the teaching process due the lack of positive feedback. Encouraging the teachers to guide the students to takeoff the learning and the teacher to get positive feedback. While the students receive and assimilate, the teacher gives and experiments. Because the transmission of knowledge is a function of who assimilates the legacy.

Resumen
PurposeRecent research in higher education has pointed out that personalized e-learning through the use of learning management systems, such as Moodle, improves the academic results of students and facilitates the detection of at-risk students.Design/methodology/approachA sample of 124 students following the Degree in Health Sciences at the University of Burgos participated in this study. The objectives were as follows: to verify whether the use of a Moodle-based personalized e-learning system will predict the learning outcomes of students and the use of effective learning behaviour patterns and to study whether it will increase student satisfaction with teaching practice.FindingsThe use of a Moodle-based personalized e-learning system that included problem-based learning (PBL) methodology predicted the learning outcomes by 42.3 per cent, especially with regard to the results of the quizzes. In addition, it predicted effective behavioural patterns by 74.2 per cent. Increased student satisfaction levels were also identified through the conceptual feedback provided by the teacher, arguably because it facilitated a deeper understanding of the subject matter.Research limitations/implicationsThe results of this work should be treated with caution, because of the sample size and the specificity of the branch of knowledge of the students, as well as the design type. Future studies will be directed at increasing the size of the sample and the diversity of the qualifications.Originality/valueLearning methodology in the twenty-first century has to be guided towards carefully structured work from the pedagogic point of view in the learning management systems allowing for process-oriented feedback and PBL both included in personalized e-learning systems.

Personalisation in e-learning systems has become a major research area in recent times, as online learning is gradually evolving to become a major part of formal education. While there exist several learning management systems with a wide range of capabilities, one thing that remains inefficient is a standard framework for sharing knowledge across different platforms and, also, the inability of such systems to provide personalisation to the learning process by default. A large number of systems that have been implemented to provide personalisation apply few parameters and are course-specific; thus, flexibility, reusability, and scalability are greatly reduced. In this paper, we propose a framework for personalised learning, Weighted Agent System for Personalised E-learning Curriculum (WASPEC) implemented with Moodle, which is independent of the learning management system and provides the possibility of incorporating multiple personalisation parameters. This is accomplished with the combined use of web services, semantic web ontologies, and pedagogical agents, providing dynamic personalisation in the background of the e-learning system. This also provides added advantages of the possibility of sharing knowledge with other systems and reusability.
