Resumen
This study evaluated the risk of silver nanoparticle (AgNP) exposure from antibacterial sprays containing AgNPs. Using an exposure simulation chamber as the setting for the experiment, various instruments, including a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS), condensation particle counter (CPC), dust monitor, and mixed cellulose esters (MCE) filters, are connected to the chamber to measure the exposure levels of AgNPs when using the sprays. To assess potential risks to consumers, margin of exposure (MOE) approach was used to assess risk in which a calculated MOE was compared with a target MOE.

Revolution fatigue – The lost promises of the Kyrgyz revolutions Kyrgyzstan has seen three rulers ousted through popular revolutions in its short thirty-years of independence, while the regimes became less democratic and the revolutions became more violent. To explore why, we use a multi-level framework of analysis based on factors that influence nonviolent resistance. Through a literature review and interviews with experts and participants of the revolutions, we argue that Kyrgyzstan’s fluid and reciprocal political system and broad access to power within society has allowed for these mobiliz

The modulus of elasticity (MOE) of structurally graded one-inch-thick red oak (Quercus rubra) and red maple (Acer rubrum) lumber was measured in this work. The objective was to determine if there are statistical differences between three structural lumber grades based on their MOE values. The study considered both the within separated grades and the across combined grades. The global MOE was precisely predicted from local (cell) MOEs, which span from 2.6 to 22 GPa. The mean COV of local MOE along board length was 12%, with extremes of 3% and 28%.

Distributions of the modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR) were characterized at three loading rates for small clear beech specimens in static bending. The correlation between MOE and MOR for all three loading rates was significant, but it weakened with increasing load rates. The analysis of the characteristics of empirical distributions, as well as the preliminary selection of the theoretical distributions for MOE and MOR, were performed on the basis of L-moments and L-moment diagrams. According to the standard for testing small specimens, MOE and MOR are determined as the

Objective: Despite studies reporting a possible association between malignant otitis externa (MOE) and diabetes, there are no large-scale population-based empirical studies. This nationwide, population-based case-control study explored the association of MOE occurrence with previously diagnosed diabetes. Methods: Data were retrieved from Taiwan’s National Health Insurance Research Database, 753 patients with MOE (cases) and 2 259 propensity score-matched patients without MOE (controls). Multiple logistic regressions were conducted to examine the association of MOE with previously diagnosed dia

For the sake of improving the product quality and economy, a series of cold-pressing experiments were carried out to investigate the material properties of engineered wood flooring with emulsion polymer isocyanate adhesive. Effect of pressing time, pressure, and adhesive spreading rate on modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR) was analyzed based on orthogonal experimental design. According to the results, both the MOE and MOR were positively correlated with pressing pressure and adhesive spreading rate. The MOE first increased and then decreased with the increase of pressing

A comparative risk assessment of drugs including alcohol and tobacco using the margin of exposure (MOE) approach was conducted. The MOE is defined as ratio between toxicological threshold (benchmark dose) and estimated human intake. Median lethal dose values from animal experiments were used to derive the benchmark dose. The human intake was calculated for individual scenarios and population-based scenarios. The MOE was calculated using probabilistic Monte Carlo simulations. The benchmark dose values ranged from 2 mg/kg bodyweight for heroin to 531 mg/kg bodyweight for alcohol (ethanol). For i

The testing experiments to healthy larch logs samplings whose diameter scopes are in 5-12cm and the length respectively are 10cm and 30cm were conducted by using Arbotom stress wave testing instrument and universal mechanics testing machine. The relationships between dynamic modulus of elasticity of stress wave and MOE, between MOR and MOE were all studied in the larch logs samplings. The results indicated that, in the two larch logs samplings, the dynamic modulus of elasticity of stress wave had positive linear correlation with MOE. Moreover, MOR also had a good linear correlation with MOE.

The present paper takes the popular language expressions in Chinese relating to the Moe Culture after its introduction from Japanese as the research object, aiming to analyze the important role of phonetic adjustment in enhancing the effect of Moe culture from the perspective of linguistics. It points out that reduplication, fusion and inflexion may enhance the effect of Moe culture through three specific mechanisms. The conclusion of the present study provides an angle and facts for clarifying the contact between Moe Culture and Chinese language under the development of modern society.

The mechanical properties of plantation Eucalyptus Nitens timber are currently assessed by applying visual stress grading (VSG) designed for the sawn timber from the mature plantation and do not represent the actual characteristics of the resource. However, the well-known limitation of VSG application for this resource led to the discovery of other methods to grade the timber to its relevant structural grade. There is potential for hardwood plantations in Australia to supply wood to the timber industry and be used in structural applications. However, it is necessary to employ criteria to evalu

Modulus of elasticity (MOE) is one of the important indexes to evaluate the performance of badminton string. In this work, a series of tensile testing were performed to explore the changes in MOE at different temperature, humidity, and tensile rate. Based on the experimental results, an MOE model for badminton string was developed by using response surface methodology. Meanwhile, the significant contribution of each variable and two-factor interactions on MOE were investigated by analysis of variance. The special aim of this work was to determine the optimal processing parameters for maximum M

Moringa oleifera (MO) is a medicinal plant that has been shown to possess antioxidant, anticarcinogenic and antibiotic activities. In a rat model, MO extract (MOe) has been shown to have a protective effect against brain damage and memory decline. As an extending study, here, we have examined the protective effect of MOe against oxidative stress and apoptosis caused in human neuroblastome (SH-SY5Y) cells by di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), a plasticizer known to induce neurotoxicity. Our data show that MOe prevents oxidative damage by lowering reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, restor

To effectively and quickly estimate the dynamic modulus of elasticity (MOE) of wood, ultrasonic and vibration test techniques are employed to measure the intact and damaged wood specimens. The ultrasonic and vibration signals in time domain are obtained respectively. Then, the time of flight is received by picking up the position of ultrasonic head wave and it is used to compute the dynamic MOE of wood. Simultaneously, the frequency response functions of wood are received by analyzing the frequency domain signals transformed from time domain using Fourier formulas, and they are used to pick up
