The use of 3-month injectable birth control aims to delay or prevent pregnancy, space pregnancies, and terminate pregnancies. Mother's knowledge plays an important role in choosing birth control; the more knowledge the mother has, the more influential she is in choosing injectable contraceptives. Based on Indonesia's profile data in 2019, there was an increase in contraceptive use in women, namely 50% to 64% in the 1991–2017 period, but in 2019 it d

It tries first to explain, with some Lacanian concepts, how a wife-taker enters into a symbolic debt after having made the required marriage payments. These are received by two wife-givers, the bride's father and her mother's father. It is then shown that this symbolic debt, linked with the marriage contract, is a guarantee against incest. This debt, owed to the mother's father, and the debt of reciprocity due to a man's own father, sheds new light on complementary filiation and on an

Evidence of congenital transmission of Lyme disease from mother to fetus has been investigated since the 1980s. This study reports the results of a retrospective analysis of 31 studies described in 27 papers published in a 2018 review article. Analysis of these identified statistically probable transmission in 13 (42%) of the 31 studies and possible transmission in 2 (6%). Most studies included mothers who had been treated with antimicrobials. When no antimicrobials were used, 74% of the pregnancies had adverse outcomes. When oral antimicrobials were used, 29% of pregnancies had adverse outcom

This essay explores how the family commodifies the sexuality and emotional labor of the daughter for the interests of the family. The case study presented above illustrates the ways in which a commodified sexual economy occurs in the context of an indebted and economically vulnerable household in An Giang Province (Mekong Delta, southern Vietnam). In this family, “transactional sex” is one of the resources employed to ameliorate the debt incurred. The study shows the ways in which the mother provides, initiates, and maintains the conditions for the sexual commodification of her daughter throug

Introduction: In several cultures—primitive, modern, and contemporary—the body represents an object of communication. According to the definition of the Descriptors in Health Science, self-mutilation is the “act of damaging one’s own body until permanent destruction of a limb or other essential body region is achieved.” Self-mutilation is a kind of agreement to avoid total annihilation of the person, in other words, suicide. In this perspective, it represents a victory, sometimes a pyrrhic victory, of the life drive over the death drive, where a dichotomous relationship is assumed. Case Report
