The genome of the Azorhizobium caulinodans ORS571 contains a unique chemotaxis gene cluster (che) including five chemotaxis genes: cheA, cheW, cheY1, cheB, and cheR. Analysis of the role of the chemotaxis cluster of A. caulinodans using deletion mutant strains revealed that CheA or the Che signaling pathway controls chemotaxis behavior and flagella-driven motility and plays important roles in formation of biofilms and production of extracellular polysaccharides (EPS). Furthermore, the deletion mutants (ΔcheA and ΔcheA-R) were defective in competitive adsorption and colonization on the root surface of host plants. In addition, a functional CheA or Che pathway promoted competitive nodulation on roots and stems. Interestingly, a nonflagellated mutant, ΔfliM, displayed a phenotype highly similar to that of the ΔcheA or ΔcheA-R mutant strains. These findings suggest that through controlling flagella-driven motility behavior, the chemotaxis signaling pathway in A. caulinodans coordinates biofilm formation, EPS, and competitive colonization and nodulation.

ABSTRACTPrevious studies have identified a specific modification of the capsular polysaccharide as receptor for phages that infectCampylobacter jejuni. Using acapsularkpsMmutants ofC. jejunistrains NCTC11168 and NCTC12658, we found that bacteriophage F341 infectsC. jejuniindependently of the capsule. In contrast, phage F341 does not infectC. jejuniNCTC11168 mutants that either lack the flagellar filaments (ΔflaAB) or that have paralyzed, i.e., nonrotating, flagella (ΔmotAand ΔflgP). ComplementingflgPconfirmed that phage F341 requires rotating flagella for successful infection. Furthermore, adsorption assays demonstrated that phage F341 does not adsorb to these nonmotileC. jejuniNCTC11168 mutants. Taken together, we propose that phage F341 uses the flagellum as a receptor. Phage-host interactions were investigated using fluorescence confocal and transmission electron microscopy. These data demonstrate that F341 binds to the flagellum by perpendicular attachment with visible phage tail fibers interacting directly with the flagellum. Our data are consistent with the movement of theC. jejuniflagellum being required for F341 to travel along the filament to reach the basal body of the bacterium. The initial binding to the flagellum may cause a conformational change of the phage tail that enables DNA injection after binding to a secondary receptor.

17β-estradiol (estradiol) is a natural estrogen regulating reproduction including sperm and egg development, sperm maturation—called capacitation—and sperm–egg communication. High doses can increase germ cell apoptosis and decrease sperm count. Our aim was to answer the biological relevance of estradiol in sperm capacitation and its effect on motility and acrosome reaction to quantify its interaction with estrogen receptors and propose a model of estradiol action during capacitation using kinetic analysis. Estradiol increased protein tyrosine phosphorylation, elevated rate of spontaneous acrosome reaction, and altered motility parameters measured Hamilton-Thorne Computer Assisted Semen Analyzer (CASA) in capacitating sperm. To monitor time and concentration dependent binding dynamics of extracellular estradiol, high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry was used to measure sperm response and data was subjected to kinetic analysis. The kinetic model of estradiol action during sperm maturation shows that estradiol adsorption onto a plasma membrane surface is controlled by Langmuir isotherm. After, when estradiol passes into the cytoplasm, it forms an unstable adduct with cytoplasmic receptors, which display a signalling autocatalytic pattern. This autocatalytic reaction suggests crosstalk between receptor and non-receptor pathways utilized by sperm prior to fertilization.

Femtosecond laser texturing is a promising surface functionalization technology to improve the integration and durability of dental and orthopedic implants. Four different surface topographies were obtained on titanium-6aluminum-4vanadium plates by varying laser processing parameters and strategies: surfaces presenting nanostructures such as laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) and ‘spikes’, associated or not with more complex multiscale geometries combining micro-pits, nanostructures and stretches of polished areas. After sterilization by heat treatment, LIPSS and spikes were characterized to be highly hydrophobic, whereas the original polished surfaces remained hydrophilic. Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) grown on simple nanostructured surfaces were found to spread less with an increased motility (velocity, acceleration, tortuosity), while on the complex surfaces, hMSCs decreased their migration when approaching the micro-pits and preferentially positioned their nucleus inside them. Moreover, focal adhesions of hMSCs were notably located on polished zones rather than on neighboring nanostructured areas where the protein adsorption was lower. All these observations indicated that hMSCs were spatially controlled and mechanically strained by the laser-induced topographies. The nanoscale structures influence surface wettability and protein adsorption and thus influence focal adhesions formation and finally induce shape-based mechanical constraints on cells, known to promote osteogenic differentiation.

Ram spermatozoa freed from seminal plasma by a dextran ‘swim-up’ procedure were incubated with Tween 20 and fractionated into motile (PEG-rich) and stationary (dextran-rich) fractions by centrifugal countercurrent distribution (CCCD) in an aqueous dextran–Ficoll– polyethylene glycol (PEG) two-phase system. Increasing concentrations of Tween 20 resulted in greater amounts of extracted protein and lower cell viability. Addition of bull seminal plasma increased the proportion of live cells, whereas ram seminal plasma increased the proportion of stationary cells. Proteins isolated from each type of seminal plasma restored the CCCD profile of treated spermatozoa to the right, this effect being reduced when proteins were thermally denatured. Bovine serum albumin induced a slight displacement to the left. No restoration of profile was achieved when ram spermatozoa were exposed to proteins from bull seminal plasma in the presence of protein-free ram seminal plasma. Adsorption of seminal plasma proteins by spermatozoa previously stripped of surface proteins by exposure to detergent reversed the detergent effect on motility. The findings are consistent with the concept that ram seminal plasma contains a factor that interferes with protein adsorption on the cell surface and prevents the protective effect of seminal plasma proteins on maintenance of cell viability

The gases of nitrogen, oxygen, argon and carbon dioxide were employed as coolant and lubricant in metal cutting. Therefore, the smaller kinetic diameter of gas, the lower cutting forces can be obtained. A conical capillary model is proposed, based on the experimental results and the theory analysis of stress distributions at the tool-chip interface. According to the boundary-layer theory, the kinetics equations of gas flow were solute. The velocity and flux of gas molecule are presented. In the capillary, the adsorption of tool-chip interface results in boundary lubricating film; the conical shape of capillary limits the depth of coolant and lubricant penetrating; and the negative press is the motility for coolant and lubricant penetrating. The study results show the molecule size of the coolant and lubricant could effect on its performances, and the coolant and lubricant with a relatively small molecule may have the particularly effective nature, in metal cutting.

ABSTRACT The spread of viral infections involves the directional progression of virus particles from infected cells to uninfected target cells. Prior to entry, the binding of virus particles to specific cell surface receptors can trigger virus surfing, an actin-dependent lateral transport of viruses toward the cell body (M. J. Lehmann et al., J. Cell Biol. 170:317-325, 2005; M. Schelhaas, et al., PLoS Pathog. 4:e1000148, 2008; J. L. Smith, D. S. Lidke, and M. A. Ozbun, Virology 381:16-21, 2008). Here, we have used live-cell imaging to demonstrate that for cells chronically infected with the gammaretrovirus murine leukemia virus in which receptor has been downregulated, a significant portion of completely assembled virus particles are not immediately released into the supernatant but retain long-term association with the cell surface. Retention can be attributed, at least in part, to nonspecific particle attachment to cell surface glycosylaminoglycans. In contrast to virus surfing, viruses retained at the surface of infected cells undergo a lateral motility that is random and actin independent. This diffusive motility can be abruptly halted and converted into inward surfing after treatment with Polybrene, a soluble cation that increases virus-cell adsorption. In the absence of Polybrene, particle diffusion allows for an outward flow of viruses to the infected cell periphery. Peripheral particles are readily captured by and transmitted to neighboring uninfected target cells in a directional fashion. These data demonstrate a surface-based mechanism for the directional spread of viruses regulated by differential virus-cell interactions.

Green cutting is one of the developing tends in the industry field. Water vapor can be introduced in metal cutting as coolant and lubricant due to its pollution-free, generating easily and unneeded disposal. Therefore, a special generating system is developed to produce suitable water vapor, and a simulation to the velocity of water vapor jet flow is presented. Then tool wear was investigated and a new capillary model is proposed, based on the experimental results. According to the boundary-layer theory, the kinetics equations of flow were solute. The velocity and flux of molecule are presented. In the capillary, the adsorption of tool-chip interface results in boundary lubricating film; the conical shape of capillary limits the depth of coolant and lubricant penetrating; and the negative press is the motility for coolant and lubricant penetrating. The study results show water vapor can decrease tool wear about 10% times and 20% comparing to cutting fluids and dry cutting, and water vapor could be a potential solution of green cutting.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a pernicious bacterial pathogen that is difficult to treat because of high levels of antibiotic resistance. A promising alternative treatment option for such bacteria is the application of bacteriophages; the correct combination of phages plus antibiotics can produce synergistic inhibitory effects. In this study, we describe morphological changes induced by sub-MIC levels of the antibiotic aztreonam lysine (AzLys) on P. aeruginosa PA01, which may in part explain the observed phage–antibiotic synergy (PAS). One-step growth curves for phage E79 showed increased adsorption rates, decreased infection latency, accelerated time to lysis and a minor reduction in burst size. Phage E79 plus AzLys PAS was also able to significantly reduce P. aeruginosa biofilm growth over 3-fold as compared to phage treatment alone. Sub-inhibitory AzLys-induced filamentation of P. aeruginosa cells resulted in loss of twitching motility and a reduction in swimming motility, likely due to a reduction in the number of polar Type IV pili and flagella, respectively, on the filamented cell surfaces. Phage phiKZ, which uses Type IV pili as a receptor, did not exhibit increased activity with AzLys at lower sub-inhibitory levels, but still produced phage–antibiotic synergistic killing with sub-inhibitory AzLys. A one-step growth curve indicates that phiKZ in the presence of AzLys also exhibits a decreased infection latency and moderately undergoes accelerated time to lysis. In contrast to prior PAS studies demonstrating that phages undergo delayed time to lysis with cell filamentation, these PAS results show that phages undergo accelerated time to lysis, which therefore suggests that PAS is dependent upon multiple factors, including the type of phages and antibiotics used, and the bacterial host being tested.

Worldwide, poultry industry suffers from infections caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli. Therapeutic failure due to resistant bacteria is of increasing concern and poses a threat to human and animal health. This causes a high demand to find alternatives to fight bacterial infections in animal farming. Bacteriophages are being especially considered for the control of multi-drug resistant bacteria due to their high specificity and lack of serious side effects. Therefore, the study aimed on characterizing phages and composing a phage cocktail suitable for the prevention of infections with E. coli. Six phages were isolated or selected from our collections and characterized individually and in combination with regard to host range, stability, reproduction, and efficacy in vitro. The cocktail consisting of six phages was able to inhibit formation of biofilms by some E. coli strains but not by all. Phage-resistant variants arose when bacterial cells were challenged with a single phage but not when challenged by a combination of four or six phages. Resistant variants arising showed changes in carbon metabolism and/or motility. Genomic comparison of wild type and phage-resistant mutant E28.G28R3 revealed a deletion of several genes putatively involved in phage adsorption and infection.

Novel heterocyclic compounds containing 3-spiro[3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane]oxindole framework (4a, 4b and 4c) have been studied as potential antitumor agents. The in silico ADMET (adsorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity) analysis was performed on 4a–c compounds with promising antiproliferative activity, previously synthetized and screened against human erythroleukemic cell line K562 tumor cell line. Cytotoxicity of 4a–c against murine fibroblast 3T3 and SV-40 transformed murine fibroblast 3T3-SV40 cell lines were evaluated. The 4a and 4c compounds were cytotoxic against 3T3-SV40 cells in comparison with those of 3T3. In agreement with the DNA cytometry studies, the tested compounds have achieved significant cell-cycle perturbation with higher accumulation of cells in G0/G1 phase. Using confocal microscopy, we found that with 4a and 4c treatment of 3T3 cells, actin filaments disappeared, and granular actin was distributed diffusely in the cytoplasm in 82–97% of cells. The number of 3T3-SV40 cells with stress fibers increased to 7–30% against 2% in control. We discovered that transformed 3T3-SV40 cells after treatment with compounds 4a and 4c significantly reduced the number of cells with filopodium-like membrane protrusions (from 86 % in control cells to 6–18% after treatment), which indirectly suggests a decrease in cell motility. We can conclude that the studied compounds 4a and 4c have a cytostatic effect, which can lead to a decrease in the number of filopodium-like membrane protrusions.

ABSTRACTFlavobacterium psychrophilumis an important fish pathogen in salmonid aquaculture worldwide. Due to increased antibiotic resistance, pathogen control using bacteriophages has been explored as a possible alternative treatment. However, the effective use of bacteriophages in pathogen control requires overcoming the selection for phage resistance in the bacterial populations. Here, we analyzed resistance mechanisms inF. psychrophilumafter phage exposure using whole-genome sequencing of the ancestral phage-sensitive strain 950106-1/1 and six phage-resistant isolates. The phage-resistant strains had all obtained unique insertions and/or deletions and point mutations distributed among intergenic and genic regions. Mutations in genes related to cell surface properties, gliding motility, and biosynthesis of lipopolysaccharides and cell wall were found. The observed links between phage resistance and the genetic modifications were supported by direct measurements of bacteriophage adsorption rates, biofilm formation, and secretion of extracellular enzymes, which were all impaired in the resistant strains, probably due to superficial structural changes. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) region was unaffected in the resistant isolates and thus did not play a role as a resistance mechanism forF. psychrophilumunder the current conditions. All together, the results suggest that resistance inF. psychrophilumwas driven by spontaneous mutations, which were associated with a number of derived effects on the physiological properties of the pathogen, including reduced virulence underin vitroconditions. Consequently, phage-driven physiological changes associated with resistance may have implications for the impact of the pathogen in aquaculture, and these effects of phage resistance on host properties are therefore important for the ongoing exploration of phage-based control ofF. psychrophilum.

Bacterial viruses (phages) are amongst the smallest, most powerful biological entities on Earth. Through infection, phages impact host metabolism, bacterial mortality, and evolution. In the oceans, 20–40% of surface microbes are infected, with 1023 new infections each second. Yet, infections remain virtually uncharacterized, as the available phage isolates underrepresent the diversity of marine phage–host interactions. Additionally, while sequencing efforts reveal “who is there?”, a gap between sequence and function prevents answering “what are they doing?” and “how?”. We have developed new Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria marine phage–host model systems with which to connect genomes, infection strategies, and functions using both traditional and genome-wide “-omics” experiments. We ask: How do infections by genomically divergent phages compare? Are there links between phage–host genomes and infection strategies? Our findings are as follows. In Bacteroidetes, a phage infecting two nearly identical strains (host38 and host18) under identical conditions is more fit and efficient on host38. By contrast, on host18, it is less fit and, except for phage transcription, it fails at efficiently mastering all stages of the infection: from adsorption through to cell lysis. In Proteobacteria, genomically unrelated podovirus and siphovirus phages infecting the same strain reprogram host metabolisms very differently. Namely, siphovirus-infected cells hardly differ from uninfected and mainly repress energy-consuming processes such as motility and translation. By contrast, podovirus-infected cells greatly differ from uninfected cells in transcription and in uniquely shifting central carbon and energy metabolism. Additionally, the siphovirus is more complementary to the host than the podovirus in %GC, amino acids, and codon usage. We found that phage–host genome complementarity may drive the resource demand and fitness of a phage: the phage most complementary to its host easily accesses intracellular resources, infects with little reprogramming, and accomplishes the largest fitness, which has not previously been shown. Together, this work helps to uncover infection efficiency strategies, and connect genomes with metabolisms in marine phage–host systems.

Abstract Hygroinduced motion is a fundamental process of energy conversion that is essential for applications that require contactless actuation in response to the day–night rhythm of atmospheric humidity. Here we demonstrate that mechanical bistability caused by rapid and anisotropic adsorption and desorption of water vapour by a flexible dynamic element that harnesses the chemical potential across very small humidity gradients for perpetual motion can be effectively modulated with light. A mechanically robust material capable of rapid exchange of water with the surroundings is prepared that undergoes swift locomotion in effect to periodic shape reconfiguration with turnover frequency of <150 min−1. The element can lift objects ∼85 times heavier and can transport cargos ∼20 times heavier than itself. Having an azobenzene-containing conjugate as a photoactive dopant, this entirely humidity-driven self-actuation can be controlled remotely with ultraviolet light, thus setting a platform for next-generation smart biomimetic hybrids.

AbstractThe plant growth-promoting bacterium Azospirillum brasilense contains several genes encoding proteins involved in the biosynthesis and degradation of the second messenger cyclic-di-GMP, which may control key bacterial functions, such as biofilm formation and motility. Here, we analysed the function and expression of the cdgD gene, encoding a multidomain protein that includes GGDEF-EAL domains and CHASE and PAS domains. An insertional cdgD gene mutant was constructed, and analysis of biofilm and extracellular polymeric substance production, as well as the motility phenotype indicated that cdgD encoded a functional diguanylate protein. These results were correlated with a reduced overall cellular concentration of cyclic-di-GMP in the mutant over 48 h compared with that observed in the wild-type strain, which was recovered in the complemented strain. In addition, cdgD gene expression was measured in cells growing under planktonic or biofilm conditions, and differential expression was observed when KNO3 or NH4Cl was added to the minimal medium as a nitrogen source. The transcriptional fusion of the cdgD promoter with the gene encoding the autofluorescent mCherry protein indicated that the cdgD gene was expressed both under abiotic conditions and in association with wheat roots. Reduced colonization of wheat roots was observed for the mutant compared with the wild-type strain grown in the same soil conditions. The Azospirillum-plant association begins with the motility of the bacterium towards the plant rhizosphere followed by the adsorption and adherence of these bacteria to plant roots. Therefore, it is important to study the genes that contribute to this initial interaction of the bacterium with its host plant.

ABSTRACTPhotobacterium kishitanii is one species of luminescent bacteria. This bacterium is known to convert chemical energy into light; it glows in the dark with a visible peak wavelength (ca. 475 nm) that is easily recognized. Luminescent bacteria produce autoinducers and respond to this molecule to switch on the luciferase structural operon. Luminescence is, therefore, controlled by the cell-population density.If bacterial cells are viewed as enzyme bags, substrates, such as oxygen or autoinducers, diffuse into the bags through a semipermeable cell wall and are catalyzed by the enzyme. Oscillation in the product concentration is often observed in systems where a semipermeable membrane separates the substrate and the enzyme. Such behavior is simulated using a reaction-diffusion model.We have reported several characteristics of the luminescence from a bacterial suspension. For example, in a batch culture, higher initial bacteria density resulted in an earlier luminescence starting time [1]. Apart from such linear characteristics, we have reported an oscillation in the luminescence intensity both spatially and temporally [2]. We hypothesize that a group of bacteria behaves differently from a sum of single cells. The nonlinearity of the bacterial luminescence might be a key to understanding the phenomenon. In a previous experiment, we separated bacteria into small groups that showed similar characteristics, such as motility and adsorption activity. For example, bacteria separated according to their motility using a microfluidic device were proved to show different bioluminescent intensities for each cell [3]. On an agar plate, the luminescence intensity from actively dividing cells was less than that from mature cells [4]. In addition to this basic study to understand the oscillation in bacterial luminescence, reactors were designed to realize stable bacterial luminescence. In a PDMS cell, only the parts of the suspension that faced the wall were illuminated [5]. This result suggested that the geometrical symmetry of oxygen supply to the suspension helped maintain spatial stability without convection of the bacterial luminescence.Here, we report the luminescence behavior of bacteria that adsorbed on material surfaces. In this work, we show experimentally that the bacteria adsorb on the inner surfaces of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polystyrene (PS) bottle and start to emit light when a liquid broth is added. We also show that the luminescence from the suspension oscillates. Experimentally, using a self-made luminescence detector, measurement of luminescence intensity from well-stirred bacterial suspensions in the bottles of different materials (PVC, PET, or PS) was performed. After the observation of oscillation in luminescence, the bottles were washed three times using the same broth, followed by the luminescence measurement. Such washing and measurements were repeated, and oscillation was repeatedly observed. The chemical condition of adsorption on the surface was investigated using surface analysis methods, such as AFM or FTIR, and the material characteristics with regard to cell adsorption and oscillation mode were discussed.

A long-term stationary experiment was conducted to examine for the purpose nine field crop rotation patterns different in the number of fields (four to six), set of crops, and their succession in crop rotation. The respective shares of legumes, oilseeds, and cereals in the cropping pattern were 17 to 33, 17 to 40, and 50 to 67 %. It has been established that in case of no-till field crop cultivation the economic efficiency of plant production depends on the set of crops and their succession in rotation. The most economically efficient type of crop rotation is the soya-winter wheat-peas-winter wheat-sunflower-corn six-field rotation with two fields of legumes: in this rotation 1 ha of crop rotation area yields 3 850 grain units per ha at a grain unit prime cost of 5.46 roubles; the plant production output return and profitability were 20,888 roubles per ha and 113 %, respectively. The high production profitabilities provided by the soya-winter wheat-sunflower four-field and the soya-winter-wheat-sunflower-corn-winter wheat five-field crop rotation are 108.7 and 106.2 %, respectively. The inclusion of winter wheat in crop rotation for two years in a row reduces the second winter wheat crop yield by 80 to 100 %, which means a certain reduction in the grain unit harvesting rate to 3.48-3.57 thousands per ha of rotation area and cuts the production profitability down to 84.4-92.3 %. The relevance of the topic has to do with an increased global interest in this region. The paper is aimed at considering the basic principles of developing and the procedure of testing seismic instruments for use at ultralow climatic temperatures. In this paper the indicated issue is considered through the example of a seismic module designed for petroleum and gas exploration by passive seismoacoustic methods. The seismic module is a direct-burial portable unit of around 5 kg in weight, designed to continuously measure and record microseismic triaxial orthogonal (ZNE) noise in a range from 0.1 to 45 Hz during several days in autonomous mode. The functional chart of designing the seismic module was considered, and concrete conclusions were made for choosing the necessary components to meet the ultralow-temperature operational requirements. The conclusions made served for developing appropriate seismic module. In this case, the components and tools used included a SAFT MP 176065 xc low-temperature lithium cell, industrial-spec electronic component parts, a Zhaofeng Geophysical ZF-4.5 Chinese primary electrodynamic seismic sensor, housing seal parts made of frost-resistant silicone materials, and finely dispersed silica gel used as water-retaining sorbent to avoid condensation in the housing. The paper also describes a procedure of low-temperature collation tests at the lab using a New Brunswick Scientific freezing plant. The test results proved the operability of the developed equipment at ultralow temperatures down to -55°C. In addition, tests were conducted at low microseismic noises in the actual Arctic environment. The possibility to detect signals in a range from 1 to 10 Hz at the level close to the NLNM limit (the Peterson model) has been confirmed, which allows monitoring and exploring petroleum and gas deposits by passive methods. As revealed by this study, the suggested approaches are efficient in developing high-precision mobile seismic instruments for use at ultralow climatic temperatures. The solution of the considered instrumentation and methodical issues is of great practical significance as a constituent of the generic problem of Arctic exploration. The article analyzes the results of treatment of patients with excess length of the second metatarsal bones that underwent osteotomy with and without osteosynthesis. The results of treatment of patients who underwent metatarsal shortening due to classical Weil-osteotomy with and without osteosynthesis were analyzed. The first group consisted of 34 patients. They underwent classical Weil osteotomy. The second group included 44 patients in whomosteotomy of the second metatarsal bone were not by the screw. When studying the results of the treatment in the immediate postoperative period, weeks 6, 12, slightly better results were observed in patients of the first group, while one year after surgical treatment the results in both groups were comparable. One year after surgical treatment, there were 2.9% (1 patient) of unsatisfactory results in the first group and 4.5% (2 patients) in the second group. Considering the comparability of the results of treatment in remote postoperative period, the choice of concrete method remains with the operating surgeon. Methods. A prospective 3-year study of 86 healthy dogs (aged 1-7 yrs) of different breeds and of both sexes. Echo homogeneity and echogenicity of the stomach and intestines wall were determined by the method of Silina, T.L., et al. (2010) in absolute values ​​of average brightness levels of ultrasound image pixels using the 8-bit scale with 256 shades of gray. Results. Quantitative echogenicity indicators of the stomach and the small intestine wall in dogs were determined. Based on the numerical values ​​characterizing echogenicity distribution in each layer of a separate structure of the digestive system, the coefficient of gastric echogenicity is determined as 1:2.4:1.1 (mucosa/submucosa/muscle layers, respectively), the coefficient of duodenum and jejunum echogenicity is determined as 1:3.5:2 and that of ileum is 1:1.8:1. Clinical significance. Datieva, DOI: https://doi.org/10.26782/jmcms.spl.10/2020.06.00046 Abstract: The aim of this work was to assess the functional reserves of the body to quantify individual health; adaptation, psychophysiological characteristics of the health quality of medical students in different seasons of the year. When studying the temporal organization of physiological functions, the rhythm parameters of physiological functions were determined, followed by processing the results using the Cosinor Analysis program, which reveals rhythms with an unknown period for unequal observations, evaluates 5 parameters of sinusoidal rhythms (mesor, amplitude, acrophase, period, reliability). The essence of desynchronization is the mismatch of circadian rhythms among themselves or destruction of the rhythms architectonics (instability of acrophases or their disappearance). Desynchronization with respect to the rhythmic structure of the body is of a disregulatory nature, most pronounced in pathological desynchronization. High neurotism, increased anxiety reinforces the tendency to internal desynchronization, which increases with stress. During examination stress, students experience a decrease in the stability of the temporary organization of the biosystem and the tension of adaptive mechanisms develops, which affects attention, mental performance and the quality of adaptation to the educational process. Time is shortened and the amplitude of the “initial minute” decreases, personal and situational anxiety develops, and the level of psychophysiological adaptation decreases. The results of the work are priority because they can be used in assessing quality and level of health. Tsvetkov, DOI: https://doi.org/10.26782/jmcms.spl.10/2020.06.00047 Abstract: The present study of comparison methods based on the triadic model introduces the following concepts: the relation of comparability and the relation of comparison, and object comparison and attributive comparison. The difference between active and passive qualitative comparison is shown, two triadic models of passive and active comparison and models for comparing two and three objects are described. Triadic comparison models are proposed as an alternative to dyadic comparison models. Comparison allows finding the common and the different; this approach is proposed for the analysis of the nomothetic and ideographic method of obtaining knowledge. The nomothetic method identifies and evaluates the general, while the ideographic method searches for unique in parameters and in combinations of parameters. Triadic comparison is used in systems and methods of argumentation, as well as in the analysis of consistency/inconsistency.
