Resumen
Abstract Basing on the first and second law of thermodynamics the fundamental trends in the Polish energy policy are analysed, including the aspects of environmental protection. The thermodynamical improvement of real processes (reduction of exergy losses) is the main way leading to an improvement of the effectivity of energy consumption. If the exergy loss is economically not justified, we have to do with an error from the viewpoint of the second law analysis. The paper contains a thermodynamical analysis of the ratio of final and primary energy, as well as the analysis of the thermo-ecological cost and index of sustainable development concerning primary energy. Analyses of thermo-ecological costs concerning electricity and centralized heat production have been also carried out. The effect of increasing the share of high-efficiency cogeneration has been analyzed, too. Attention has been paid to an improved efficiency of the transmission and distribution of electricity, which is of special importance from the viewpoint of the second law analysis. The improvement of the energy effectivity in industry was analyzed on the example of physical recuperation, being of special importance from the point of view of exergy analysis.

Resumen
An effective lower bound on the entropy of some explicit quadratic plane Cremona transformations is given. The motivation is that such transformations (Hénon maps, or Feistel ciphers) are used in symmetric key cryptography. Moreover, a hyperbolic plane Cremona transformation g is rigid, in the sense of [5], and under further explicit conditions some power of g is tight.

Resumen
One of the problems that employees often face is the employment pressure from their superiors. The impact of the problem includes the increase of employee turnover, the decrease of employee motivation, and the increase of employee absenteeism. Such condition decreases organizational effectivity. Therefore, the first step done by the organization is to increase employee commitment in order to improve effectiveness. To increase employees' commitment, the role of leadership is very important. One of the most popular leadership styles and suitable applied in many setting is the transformational leadership style. It significantly contributes to the improvement of organizational commitment. The leadership has four dimensions: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. The current study aims to find empirical evidence of the contribution of transformational leadership styles to organizational commitment. The employees of BPR in the city of Semarang are used as samples in the study. The data used are primary data obtained from the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. This study used descriptive analysis techniques and multiple linear regression. The results prove that simultaneously transformational leadership style significantly influence the organizational commitment. Partially inspirational motivation and individualized consideration variables have a significantly positive effect on organizational commitment. However, the idealized influence and intellectual stimulation variable have no effect on organizational commitment. The findings have theoritical and practical implication. From theoritical side, the continued research need to conduct to give clearer description of the two variables relationship. From practical side, leaders of BPR can consider the findings to improve their employee commitment.. Keywords: transformational leadership style and organizational commitment

Resumen
In this article some comments are made on research into business communication as a new vogue in applied linguistics (instead of as enrichment in text linguistics). Critical remarks are also made, in terms of cost-benefit analysis, about the difficulties that liberal arts students have in finding a job within a business setting. The main part of this article is devoted to the writing and rewriting of instruction texts, with an example of the instruction for use of a steam iron. The rewriting techniques for clarifying this text are reduced to the suitability principle and maxims like the maxim of motivation and the maxim of disambiguity. Within this theoretical framework the (re)writing of business texts can be more than an activity for the Muses and will be of benefit to Mercury in enhancing the effectivity of instruction manuals and other texts.

Resumen
Despite being expected by administrators to use cooperative learning regularly and effectively in their instructional practices, less than one third of high school teachers in the targeted U.S. public school district implemented the practices above a proficient level, according to district data. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to examine the motivation, strategies, and practices of a representative group of teachers at the high school who were rated highly effective on their 2016-2017 annual summative evaluation in cooperative learning. The research questions concerned the motivation of these teachers to include cooperative learning practices in their classrooms. Two additional research questions focused on the teachers' planning, implementation, and assessment of students and the challenges they encounter while employing cooperative learning practices. The participants included 10 teachers rated highly effective who were selected through homogeneous, purposeful sampling. Qualitative data were collected through semistructured interviews and document reviews of lesson plans and resources. Coding and thematic analysis were used to examine and report that data. Participants revealed concerns regarding the time involved in planning and implementing cooperative learning along with the difficulties of group composition and student assessment during the process. Based on the study results, a professional development series was designed to provide additional training and to establish a district wide definition of cooperative learning. This project study may facilitate positive social change by encouraging and supporting teachers as they better prepare students to overcome the challenges of collaboration and teamwork.

Resumen
Literary education and language education are connected by a relationship of mutual exchange. On the one hand, without the mastery of appropriate language skills it is impossible to grasp the complexity of literary works. On the other, improving language competence is one of the multiple aims of literary education. Moreover, considering the current multicultural dimension of the Italian school system, teaching literature from an intercultural perspective provides an opportunity to foster the development of relational skills while discussing the meaning of the works. In this scenario, we explore the state of the art of literary education and the teaching of literature in Italy and we consider their implications with language education, intercultural education, and intercultural communication. Furthermore, we present both a model of literary and intercultural communicative competence and a hermeneutic and relational method, also aimed at improving language acquisition and promoting intercultural awareness. In our view, literary and intercultural communicative competence makes it possible to communicate effectively in events where the language is spoken in order to understand literary texts, to identify the original meanings, to discuss their significance from the students’ current perspective, and to formulate critical judgements. The aim of the volume is to offer content and methodological resources for the teaching of literature that can impact positively on the development of language and relational skills. Thus, we draw up some guidelines aimed at increasing students’ motivation for studying the works, fostering their active participation and allowing literature to preserve its educational function.

Resumen
Abstract Autonomy has been central to moral and political philosophy for millennia, and has been positioned as a critical aspect of both justice and wellbeing. Research in psychology supports this position, providing empirical evidence that autonomy is critical to motivation, personal growth and psychological wellness. Responsible AI will require an understanding of, and ability to effectively design for, human autonomy (rather than just machine autonomy) if it is to genuinely benefit humanity. Yet the effects on human autonomy of digital experiences are neither straightforward nor consistent, and are complicated by commercial interests and tensions around compulsive overuse. This multi-layered reality requires an analysis that is itself multidimensional and that takes into account human experience at various levels of resolution. We borrow from HCI and psychological research to apply a model (“METUX”) that identifies six distinct spheres of technology experience. We demonstrate the value of the model for understanding human autonomy in a technology ethics context at multiple levels by applying it to the real-world case study of an AI-enhanced video recommender system. In the process we argue for the following three claims: (1) There are autonomy-related consequences to algorithms representing the interests of third parties, and they are not impartial and rational extensions of the self, as is often perceived; (2) Designing for autonomy is an ethical imperative critical to the future design of responsible AI; and (3) Autonomy-support must be analysed from at least six spheres of experience in order to appropriately capture contradictory and downstream effects.

A new interest in the use of video games for learning has emerged, and a number of claims are made with respect to the effectiveness of games in education. These educational games are considered as new instructional technology with great potential. The suggested positive outcomes and effects have been mentioned repeatedly. In this review, the learning effects of educational games are studied in order to gain more insights into the conditions under which a game may be effective for learning. A systematic literature search in three databases was conducted. Some studies reported a positive effect on learning and motivation, but this is moderated by different learner variables and depends on different context variables. Next to this, the effectivity research on game-based learning is highly susceptible to a muddle of approaches, methodologies, and descriptions of gaming for educational purposes.

Resumen
To address some of the technical writing pressures concomitant with globalization, this chapter investigates documentation solutions implemented by an Irish Do-It-Yourself tour operator. The same identity-dependent approaches that these DIY tourism companies use to fulfill tourist expectations can provide technical writers with additional tools for analyzing user motivation. This chapter first analyzes how an Irish DIY Adventure travel company harnesses user motivations, then applies Appadurai’s (1996) globalism theories (especially his use of ethnoscapes, technoscapes, and mediascapes) to a particular use of this travel company’s documents, and finally demonstrates how user motivation intrinsic to identity formation can help the technical writer create documentation that effectively assists users in overcoming breakdowns through identity affordances.

The purpose of this chapter is to offer a better understanding of online shoppers' behaviour, so that virtual shops may improve and adapt their product offering to effectively reach their target segments. In order to achieve this goal, a characterization of motivations to shop online is proposed as a basis for motivation-based customer segmentation. Building upon this segmentation, acceptance models—namely, an adaptation of UTAUT2 to e-commerce—have been used to look further into the purchasing behavior of each identified segment. The results from the empirical study based on responses to an online questionnaire from a sample of 718 Spanish shoppers shows seven different groups of motivations and five different customer segments, and confirms different behavioral patterns in the adoption of e-commerce for different segments of customers, with special influence of effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and perceived risk in the online shopping behaviour of individuals.

Resumen
The current article proposes a model of the loss of identity, society and state subjectivity, as a target of information warfare. Subjectivity is considered as a unity of motivational (“I WANT”), competence (“I CAN”) and moral-psychological (“I NEED”) components. The task of stopping or changing the corresponding activity by the opponent is solved through information and psychological impact on his “WANT”, “CAN”, “NEED”. Both effectively counteracting and information-psychological protection requires increased attention to the factors that ensure the subjectivity of the Russian citizen, society and state. Institutions and processes of formation of ethnocentric motivation of citizens, education and upbringing of the Russian citizen should become information and psychological security installations.

Resumen
For engineering companies striving to be competitive in today’s economy, it is essential that innovation is the crux of their strategy and decision making process. Engineering designers are constantly pushed to develop new and innovative solutions to design problems yet there has been little research on what actually motivates these designers, both intrinsically and extrinsically, to be innovative. Similarly, engineering students working on their capstone design project are pushed to develop solutions to innovative design problems. The purpose of this paper is to present the initial findings of an innovation survey of Mechanical Engineering students at Clemson University. This paper will discuss the importance of innovation, the current state of innovation, the surveys that were created, the results of said survey, and how this information will be used going forward to improve performance and motivation in capstone design classes. The purpose of this survey is to determine which motivational factors engineering students perceive to be the most effective when working on innovative design projects. The initial results showed that (1) making an “A” grade in the class, (2) developing an “elegant” solution, and (3) making professional contacts with the industry sponsors were the three factors that most effectively promoted innovative design. Conversely, (1) impressing peers, (2) making professional contacts with the fellow students, and (3) winning cash prizes were the three factors that least effectively promoted innovative design.

Resumen
The aim of the paper is to disclose how entrepreneurship education can be developed and examined in a Higher Education Insitution (HEI) via a EU funded local project. The paper examines HEI students´ motivation factors and needs concerning Entrepreneurship education (EE). Start It Up – Support for young entrepreneurship project´s objective is to support students and young people in entrepreneurship, new business creation and innovation, and also employment in and out the innovation ecosystems. Differentiating entrepreneurial methods, best practices, entrepreneurship coaching, and entrepreneurship spirit are tested and organized throughout the project. The project strives to deliver tools and motivation towards entrepreneurship. This article introduces the activities that have been done to support EE and a case study which examines how the entrepreneurship education can be improved to develop EE in the Finnish HEI. The main testing platforms for EE are presented and the results of the case study show that to promote entrepreneurship and to enhance students´ awareness and motivation towards entrepreneurship in the Finnish HEI, the offering of EE teaching, events and competitions for students should be increased and promoted more effectively.

Resumen
In recent years, Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) has emerged as one of the most effective and beneficial science teaching practices for developing science concepts in learners and for motivating them in the study of science subjects. IBSE is a pedagogical practice that allows learners to develop key scientific ideas and to understand the natural world, using skills employed by scientists. Like most science school curricula around the world, the South African life sciences national curriculum (referred to as Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement - CAPS), advocates for the adoption of IBSE. Despite the growing consensus about the cognitive and motivational benefits of IBSE, this pedagogical approach is seldom implemented by life science teachers, due to various factors. This qualitative research, involving a case study, explored the knowledge, perceptions, and adoption of IBSE by four life sciences high school teachers, conveniently selected from public schools around Johannesburg, in South Africa. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, and the findings show that participating teachers have substantial knowledge and positive perceptions of IBSE. However, they are less inclined to adopting IBSE in their life science classrooms due to inhibiting factors. We recommend the training of life sciences teachers in effective way of abating the constraints of implementing IBSE effectively.

Resumen
The design of hardware-software systems is a complex and difficult task exacerbated by the very different tools used by designers in each field. Even in small projects, tracking the impact, motivation and context of individual design decisions between designers and over time quickly becomes intractable. In an attempt to bridge this gap, we present a general, low-level model of the system design process. We formally define the concept of a design decision, and provide a hierarchical representation of both the design space and the context in which decisions are made. This model can serve as a foundation for software-hardware system design tools which will help designers cooperate more efficiently and effectively. We provide a high-level example of the use of such a system in a design problem provided through collaboration with NASA.

Resumen
Resilience in architectural research, discourse, and practice tends to focus on physical aspects of the built environment. Much of the discussion within this technological domain of resilience resolves around singular, unique, and high value facilities: ignoring the vast fabric of buildings where most people live. However, studies in socioecological resilience suggests that resilience in the built environment must address people and systems, not merely property. Transitioning to this focus will both require and result in broadening architecture’s interest and influence beyond the normal physical boundaries of the built environment. To effectively engage this broader scope, new tools must enable new modes of public outreach, information sharing, data analysis, decision support, and ultimately create new knowledge. This paper describes the motivation, development, and preliminary findings of one such tool, the Resilient Home Online Design Aide (RHOnDA). This results suggest a cycle of participatory architectural research to advance socioecological resilience.

Resumen
This paper focuses on the production and assembly control in a two-stage assemble-to-order (ATO) manufacturing system. An ATO manufacturing system keeps inventory only at the component level, and products are assembled only after a customer order is received. ATO systems have a widespread use in various industries where mass customization is popular. The motivation of the problem is due to the need for firms in this setting to effectively coordinate the production of components and allocate the assembly line capacity shared across many different products. We model component production lines and a downstream product assembly line with M/M/1 queues in order to identify optimal policies regarding a firm’s decision on how many components of each type to produce and how to prioritize orders for various products. We also propose an effective heuristic solution that is robust with respect to the number of product alternatives offered.

Resumen
Aim/Purpose: Inconsistent findings on the effect of various determinants of cyber security behaviour emphasise the need for further understanding of the applicability of compliance theories. The paper provides a critical review of determinants of users’ cyber security behaviour and establishes directions for future research. Background: Cyber security behaviour has been studied using a range of behavioural theories. Factors from these theories help organisations to develop suitable initiatives to encourage positive compliance from the employees. Contribution: The paper integrates factors that can impact cyber security behaviour from Theory of Planned Behaviour, Protection Motivation Theory, Rational Choice Theory and General Deterrence Theory into an overarching framework for better connection of the theories. Previous studies’ findings were analysed to establish research challenges in the field. Future Research: Future research should investigate the complex interaction between organizational and personal characteristics so that a security program can be developed that can effectively engage employees with security tasks even in demanding work environment.
