Abstract Introduction The ability to perform learned motor procedures under stress is a critical skill for many high-risk occupations. Explicit motor skills require top-down cognitive control, which both sleep loss and stress have been found to produce significant degradations, whereas implicit skills rely less on cognitive control and are more resilient to physiological stress. We investigated whether differences in emotion regulation attenuated the effects of sleep deprivation (SD) and acute stress on discrete motor learning. In order to investigate the ability of Pteris vittata restoring Zn polluted soil, water cultured experiment is utilized to study the enriching ability of Pteris vittata to Zn, and the detoxification mechanism of Pteris vittata to Zn. The experimental results show that Pteris vittata has certain enriching ability to Zn,and the translation coefficient of Zn in Pteris vittata reaches 1.0. With the increasing of Zn application amount, chlorophyll and soluble sugar contents of Pteris vittata show ascending first and then descending,O2-• and MDA contents continuously ascend, starch content continuous

OBJECT The purpose of this study was to determine the minimum amount of nerve fibers required to maintain normal motor function after nerve injury in rats. METHODS The authors first confirmed that a common peroneal nerve injury caused more aggravating effects on lower limb motor function than tibial nerve injury, as assessed by the static sciatic index (SSI). Thereafter, rats were subjected to varying degrees of crush injury to the common peroneal nerve. At 48 hours after the injury, motor function was assessed using the SSI and slope-walking ability (with slope angles of 30° and 45°). The tib

The study investigated the effect of the Bocce game on developing perceptual-motor ability and object control of adolescents with mental retardation. The subjects of the research were 15 adolescents with moderate Mental Retardation status (Age =16.4±1.59; IQ 54±.5). The study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The analysis was conducted by using a T-test. The instrument used in this study was an observation employing an observation checklist adapted from Gallahue’s (1982) assessment checklist to measure perceptual-motor ability. AbstractThe neurophysiological response of an animal to stress involves the production of a number of stress-related neurochemicals including the catecholamines norepinephrine and epinephrine. It is generally believed that such neurochemicals belong exclusively to the animal kingdom and that any role such neurochemicals play in the infective process is largely confined to host physiology and immunology-related parameters. This, however, is wholly incorrect as many of the bacterial species that are known to cause infections possess the capacity to not only recognize neuroendocrine hormones prod

Stress has adverse impacts on mental and physical health and quality of life, especially in older adults. Stress can impair cognitive function including short and long-term memory, and this functional declines can further be associated with decreased neuromuscular performance (Mehta & Parasuraman, 2014) and increased fatigability (Keller-Ross et al., 2014). Since older adults are more susceptible to the effect of stress because their limited mobility caused by aging can worsen under stress (Noven at al., 2014), it is important to examine the effect of acute stress on neuromuscular function

Abstract Many RNA-binding proteins, including TDP-43, FUS, and TIA1, are stress granule components, dysfunction of which causes amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). However, whether a mutant RNA-binding protein disrupts stress granule processing in vivo in pathogenesis is unknown. Here we establish a FUS ALS mutation, p.R521C, knock-in mouse model that carries impaired motor ability and late-onset motor neuron loss. In disease-susceptible neurons, stress induces mislocalization of mutant FUS into stress granules and upregulation of ubiquitin, two hallmarks of disease pathology. Additionally, s

AbstractMotor stereotypies are repetitive, purposeless movements that cannot be categorized into any of the known pathological movement disorders. They can be “primary,” occurring in normal children as a normal physiological variation or “secondary,” occurring in children with autism, intellectual disability, or other developmental disorders. Observation and videotaping are crucial for excluding seizures and other pathological movement disorders. They usually last for seconds to minutes and can occur spontaneously or be triggered by fatigue, excitement, or stress. Another key feature is the ab

To do so, a search of articles published between 1996 and 2017 was done on PubMed, LILACS, Science Direct, and SciElo databases. Original articles in English and Portuguese evaluating the planning of motor actions in typical and atypical children performing manual tasks were selected. For the analysis, the population age, number of children, type of task, main results, site of study and impact of the journal were considered. From the eighteen ar
