Resumen
Weaning food biscuit based on mocaf (modified cassava flour) with substitution of soybean, mung bean and red kidney bean flour is expected increasing protein of the product. However, in the legumes flour there are anti-nutritional agent that can affect the absorption of other nutrient such as protein and iron. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the absorption of protein and iron from mocaf based-weaning food. Protein and iron absorption were determined from weaning food (biscuit) using Sprague-Dawley rats, 3 weeks old, weight 70-80 g for 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. The treatments of this study were mocaf biscuits (as a control), biscuits with substitution of soybean flour (MSF), mung bean flour (MMF), red kidney bean flour (MRF) and commercial biscuits (CB). The highest protein absorption of control, MSF and MRF were at 120 minutes with absorption percentages 27.76, 38.94, and 9.35%, respectively. Samples MMF and CB had the highest protein absorption at 60 and 90 minutes, with absorption percentages 15.58 and 37.57%. Meanwhile, the highest iron absorption of control, MSF and MMF were at 90 minutes with absorption percentages 53.86, 4.71, and 54.29%. Samples MRF and CB had highest iron absorption at 60 minutes with absorption percentages 7.97 and 69.76%, respectively. The MSF sample had highest protein absorption than other samples. Meanwhile, the MMF sample had an iron absorption value that approached to commercial biscuit.

Resumen
Markov Stationary Features (MSF) not only considers the distribution of colors like histogram method does, also characterizes the spatial co-occurrence of histogram patterns. However, handling large scale database of images, simple MSF method is not sufficient to discriminate the images. In this paper, we have proposed a robust content based image retrieval algorithm that enhances the discriminating capability of the original MSF. The proposed Multidimensional MSF (MMSF) algorithm extends the MSF by generating multiple co-occurrence matrices with different quantization levels of an image. Publicly available WANG1000 and Corel10800 databases are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The experimental result justifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Resumen
The influence of prior feeding experience and food deprivation on selection and utilization of wheat flour (WF), melon seed flour (MSF) and mung bean flour (MBF) by Tribolium castaneum reared on WF was investigated in this study. Flour selection, measured by percentage gravitation and acceptance of the flours by beetles (when fed and also when starved for 48 hours), was studied in choice and no-choice tests. On the other hand, T. castaneum’ s utilization of flours for growth and development was determined by monitoring population changes for three months in each flour type infested with 10 beetle pairs. Results of three-flour choice tests showed that gravitation (55.56%) and acceptance (54.44%) were significantly higher (p < 0.05) in WF than MSF and MBF. Also, MBF significantly (p < 0.05) had higher beetle gravitation (80.56%) and acceptance (72.78%) than MSF in a two-flour choice test. In no-choice tests, percentage gravitation and acceptance of beetles to the control (no flour situation) was significantly lower (p < 0.05) compared to MBF. Selection of MSF by T. castaneum was, however, not significantly different (p > 0.05) from the control in the study. Flour utilization followed a similar trend with significantly higher (p < 0.05) mean adults and larvae numbers in WF (211.33, 81.33) and MBF (87.67, 31.00), respectively compared to MSF (28.33, 7.67) at three months after infestation. The study concluded that flour selection in T. castaneum is influenced by prior feeding experience but not by food deprivation status of the beetles. Flour utilization is, however, neither influenced by prior feeding experience nor by food deprivation. Key words: Tribolium castaneum, host range, choice test, no-choice test, flour

Resumen
This research aims to determine the effect of bank size (SIZE), profitability (ROA), efficiency (EFF), non-performing finance (NPF), interest (INTR), and inflation (INFL) on profit and loss sharing (PLS) financing (equity financing), and sale-purchase (SP) financing (debt financing) Islamic banks in Indonesia. Furthermore, monthly Islamic bank data in June 2014 to July 2020 was used. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) method was used to determine the short and long-term effects of the independent variables on the financing variable. The results showed that ROA and EFF have a positive effect on MRF but ROA and EFF have a negative effect on MDA and MSF. NPF has a positive effect on MDF, but has a negative effect on MRF. Meanwhile, SIZE has a negative effect on MDF, MDA, MRF, and MRA. The INTR has a negative effect on MDA, MRF, and MRA. The implication of this research is that financialperformance has more influence on debt financing compared to equity financing of Islamic banks in Indonesia.

Resumen
Previous study demonstrated that feeders are important for growth and differentiation of rhesus monkey embryonic stem cells (rES)(Thomson JA et al., 1995 PNAS \bf 92, 7844–7848). In this study, we developed 5 rhesus monkey feeder cell lines for rES culture: MESF (ear skin fibroblasts from 2-week-old neonatal monkeys), MAF (adult Fallopian tube cells), MGF (adult follicular granulose fibroblast-like cells), MGK (adult follicular granulose kidney-like cells), and MSC (single-cell cloning from MESF), all of which were fibroblast-like cells. Two experiments were designed to investigate rES cell growth and differentiation potentials. In experiment 1, rES (R366.4) was cultured on MESF, MAF, MGF, MGK, and MSC, with MEF (mouse embryonic fibroblasts) as control. In experiment 2, rES was cultured on the mixed feeders: MSC: MGK at 1:1, 7:3, 8:2 and 9:1, depending on the results of experiment 1. Results of experiment 1 showed that the rES underwent undifferentiated growth on MESF, MAF, MGF and MSC (cultured for 15 passages), but not on MGK, with morphology typical of rES on MEFs, and exhibiting positive alkaline phosphatase staining, positive expression of Oct-4 and GAPDH, and negative expression of PAX6, AFP, BMP4 and hCG of rES as well as normal karyotypes. Embryonic bodies (EBs) were formed on Day 7 to 8 from the rES cultured on MESF, MAF, MGF and MSC. The EBs showed positive expression of hCG, AFP and BMP4. Differentiation of neuron, epithelium and muscle cells was observed after 21 days of continuous culture of the rES. The colonies of rES cultured on MESF, MAF, MGF and MSC were higher than on MEF (1.5 to 3 times). Interestingly, expansion speeds and differentiation rates on MSC were less than on MESF. These results also indicated that fibroblast cells, on the one hand, were alone sufficient for supporting prolonged undifferentiated growth of rES, and on the other hand, other mixed cells except fibroblast cells had the ability to promote the growth and differentiation of R366.4 rES. Results of experiment 2 showed that the mixed feeders (MSC:MGK) at 8:2 or 9:1 supported undifferentiated growth of rES but not feeders at 7:3 or 1:1. Our work demonstrated that the rhesus monkey feeders were better able to support undifferentiated growth and maintain differentiation potentials of rES than were MEFs feeders. The rES could grow if the ratio of mixed other cells serving as the feeders exceeded 20%.

Resumen
In this paper an extended classification approach for hyperspectral imagery based on both spectral and spatial information is proposed. The spatial information is obtained by an enhanced marker-based minimum spanning forest (MSF) algorithm. Three different methods of dimension reduction are first used to obtain the subspace of hyperspectral data: (1) unsupervised feature extraction methods including principal component analysis (PCA), independent component analysis (ICA), and minimum noise fraction (MNF); (2) supervised feature extraction including decision boundary feature extraction (DBFE), discriminate analysis feature extraction (DAFE), and nonparametric weighted feature extraction (NWFE); (3) genetic algorithm (GA). The spectral features obtained are then fed into the enhanced marker-based MSF classification algorithm. In the enhanced MSF algorithm, the markers are extracted from the classification maps obtained by both SVM and watershed segmentation algorithm. To evaluate the proposed approach, the Pavia University hyperspectral data is tested. Experimental results show that the proposed approach using GA achieves an approximately 8&amp;thinsp;% overall accuracy higher than the original MSF-based algorithm.

Resumen
In this article, we obtain two classes of non-MSF wavelets by considering two different classes of six-interval wavelet sets provided by Arcozzi, Behera and Madan (J. Geom. Anal.13 (2003) 557–579). Out of these classes one is countable, the non-MSF wavelets of which are non-MRA and the other one is uncountable, the non-MSF wavelets of which are MRA. The set of all non-MSF MRA wavelets of the latter class is shown to be pathconnected.

Resumen
As a low-carbon ecological cement-based material, SAC (sulfoaluminate cement) has become a research hotspot. This study developed a SAC-based high-performance concrete material with good durability and high toughness. The mechanical properties of different scales of MSF (macro steel fiber) and mSF (micro steel fiber) reinforced sulfoaluminate cement-based composites were mainly studied, including their compressive strength, flexural strength, toughness index, and toughness ratio, and their resistance to sulfate erosion was characterized. The results show that adding MSF and HSF (hybrid steel fibers) can significantly improve concrete’s compressive and flexural strength compared with the Plain group. The compressive strength of SSF1 (1% MSF) and SSF2 (1.5% MSF) increased by 10.9%, 19.6%, and the compressive strength of HSF1 (0.1% mSF, 1.4% MSF), HSF2 (0.2% mSF, 1.3%MSF), HSF3 (0.3% mSF, 1.2% MSF), and HSF4 (0.5% mSF, 1.0% MSF) increased by 23.9%, 33.7%, 37.0%, 29.3%, respectively, while the flexural strength of HSF1, HSF2, HSF3, and HSF4 groups increased by 51.4%, 84.9%, 88.1%, and 64.2%. Compared with the single steel fiber (SSF) group, the HSF group has higher initial crack strength, equivalent flexural strength, toughness index, and toughness ratio. Hybrid fibers have a higher synergistic effect when mSF content is 0.2–0.3% and MSF content is 1.2–1.3%. The mechanism of multi-scale reinforcement of hybrid-steel-fiber-enhanced sulfoaluminate cement-based composites was researched. MSF bridges macro-cracks, mSF bridges micro-cracks, and these two different scales of steel fibers, through filling, bridging, anchoring, pulling off, and pulling out, improve the toughness of composite materials. The mechanism of sulfate corrosion resistance of sulfoaluminate cement-based composites was obtained. SO42− entered the matrix and reacted and formed AFt, filling the matrix’s pores. The whole process is similar to the self-healing process of concrete.

Resumen
The brine circulation multistage flash desalination process (MSF) dominates the thermal desalination market, while the once-through multistage flash desalination process (MSF-OT) remains to be found on a limited scale. This is because the MSF-OT process has no control on the temperature of the feed sea water. For non-equatorial regions, where the sea water temperature drops to 5 — 15°C during winter operation, the MSF-OT performance deteriorates unless the volume of the low-temperature stages is drastically increased to allow for reduction in the brine reject temperature to lower values. Another approach to solving this problem is to use the brine mixing (MSF-M) technique to control the feed sea water temperature. Irrespective of this, the MSF-OT process should be considered the optimum choice for large-scale thermal desalination in equatorial regions, where the sea water temperature remains constant throughout the year at 28°C. This study focuses on design and performance features of the MSF-OT process. Results are presented in terms of variations in the process thermal performance ratio, the specific heat transfer area and the conversion ratio as a function of the top brine temperature, the number of flashing stages and the feed sea water temperature. The performance of the MSF-OT process is identical to the MSF process as long as the feed sea water temperature remains above 25°C. Evaluation of the MSF-M system and comparison with the performance of the MSF and MSF-OT processes is presented.

Resumen
One effort that can be done to improve soil fertility and crop yields is fertilization. Fertilization using a mixed source fertilizer (MSF) is an option to overcome the impact of inorganic fertilizer use and organic fertilizer drawbacks. This study aims to evaluate the effects of MSF application on the chemical properties of Inceptisol and rice yields. A field experiment was conducted using a completely randomized block design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was the three formulas of MSF (F1, F2, F3) and the second factor was MSF doses (0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 Mg ha-1). The results show that there is no significant difference on the total soil N, available soil P, plant height and total number of tillers of rice plants applied with the three MSF formulas. The increased MSF doses applied significantly improve the soil chemical properties of Inceptisol and rice yields. The application of 10 Mg ha-1 MSF increases total- N (57.89%), available-P (29.13%), exchangeable-Ca and -Mg (117% and 250%, respectively), plant height (40%) and total number of tillers (43.2%) in comparison to those without MSF application. There are interaction effects between formulas and doses of MSF on the amount of exchangeable-K, organic-C content, and CEC of the soil and rice yields. The application of 10 Mg ha-1 MSF F3 results in better effects on the amount of exchangeable-K, organic-C content and CEC of the soil, and number of productive tillers and rice yields than the application of other MSF formulas. The MSF can be used as an alternatif fertilizer that can improve Inceptisol productivity.

Resumen
It is known that Florida school employees known as Migrant Advocates facilitate or broker MSF health care access for migrant and seasonal farmworker (MSF) families, but it is not known how states without a Migrant Education Program might also broker MSF health care access. To address this, present study examines the role of school employees in brokering health care access to immigrant Mexican and Indigenous Guatemalan MSF families in Connecticut. Informed by prior work, interviews (n = 12) with parents and elementary school employees showed that (1) a vast array of non-Migrant Advocate school employees, mostly Latinx women, directly brokered physical and psychosocial MSF health care access, often through developing deep social relationships and (2) barriers to brokerage included language inaccessibility, school employee gaps in knowledge of MSF health care needs, and transportation and related structural issues. Importantly, the school’s location near MSF homes is an important contributor to the success of the school’s brokerage efforts. Findings offer insight into how a school health broker model might be implemented, and advance understandings of MSF health and health care access.

Resumen
Abstract The Multiple Streams Framework (MSF) is currently one of the most widely used frameworks in policy process research. It explains how policy agenda develops in the policy process with emphasis on policy adoption. This article examines MSF from the perspective of the history of science and Lakatos’ methodology of scientific research programs. In this respect, we consider MSF a “semi-strong theory” that uses a form of subsumption under theory for scientific explanation. This differs from a “strong” explanatory theory (e.g., physics), which uses explanations in the form of subsumption under scientific law. From the point of view of Lakatos’ methodology, MSF represents a scientific research program. The basic element is a hard core given mainly by the MSF hypothesis for the framework as a whole and MSF assumptions and key structural elements. Around the hard core there is a protective belt of auxiliary hypotheses. They correspond to hypotheses related to the framework’s key elements and to the hypothesis for the framework as a whole. MSF has negative heuristics (prohibition of the use of the modus tollens rule) and positive heuristics, which are represented by a set of theoretically and empirically progressive theories that further develop the MSF research program. An analysis of studies on MSF reveals that single hypotheses are only exceptionally tested using “hard” data and quantitative methods. Qualitative analysis (case studies) predominates, which contributes to the development of MSF theory. Therefore, we can consider a progressive shift in theory. In this respect, MSF can be considered a successful research program. However, in terms of the methodology of scientific research programs, MSF has a number of other opportunities to develop hypothesis testing further and use various modelling methods with data sets. Thus, MSF represents an interesting scientific research program, which needs to be further developed and specified in the spirit of the methodology of scientific research programs, It is a challenge for interdisciplinary research in the field of social sciences.

Resumen
Introduction: Water, energy, and the environment are three important elements of sustainable development. Production of potable water using desalination technologies powered by renewable energy systems could help solve water scarcity in remote areas with shortages of water or conventional energy sources, or in large cities with air pollution. Hybridization of solar and wind could increase the sustainability and availability of renewable energy sources and reduce energy costs. Additionally, hybridization of reverse osmosis (RO) and MSF could increase efficiency and desalinated water quality and decrease desalinated water cost. Materials and Methods: The research method in this paper is based on modeling, computer simulation, and optimization with MATLAB software, and manufacturing and evaluating the plant at the Tarbiat Modares University Renewable Energy Laboratory. Results: The process of manufacturing the MSF system, solar panel structure, and wind turbine was explained and modeling and optimization results were presented. Testing results of the plant were mentioned, as were the produced power of wind turbine simulated and plant performance evaluated under the environmental conditions of the Tehran region. The rate of fresh water production under changing feed water salinity was evaluated and the real costs of fresh water produced ($/m3) were estimated. At the end of this section, model results and test results were compared. Conclusion: Hybridization of RO and MSF systems with wind and solar energy resources led to increased system reliability and flexibility and higher produced drinking water quality. The desalinated water cost was 1.35 $/m3 in theory and 1.5 $/m3 for actual conditions. Hybridization of wind, solar, RO, and MSF showed proved the best choices to minimize water cost compared to fossil fuel RO or MSF, wind RO, wind MSF, solar RO, solar MSF, or fossil fuel RO-MSF. Hybridization of RO and MSF would result in better economics and operation characteristics than those corresponding to MSF. Water cost can be reduced by 23 to 26% of that of a sole MSF process and the amount of desalinated water produced by the hybrid RO-MSF system is much greater than that of MSF. A comparison of theory outputs and experimental test results showed very good agreement between measured and model data. The test results of the manufactured hybrid solar-wind RO-MSF justified theory results.

Resumen
A hybrid Multi-Stage Flash–Humidification Dehumidification (MSF-HDH) desalination system is investigated for energy recovery from an MSF system. The hybrid MSF-HDH system increases total productivity and performance ratio and reduces brine rejection. Hot condensed steam that leaves the MSF brine heater is used to warm the rejected pretreated brine from MSF to a higher temperature suitable for HDH system operation (about 60 °C). This allows us to increase the product (desalinated water) without additional “external” energy input to the hybrid system. Four different layouts of the integrated MSF-HDH system are presented and compared. The results show that an HDH system can utilize over 66% of an existing MSF brine blowdown, while the hybrid system can achieve a gained output ratio—GOR, water recovery ratio—RR, productivity and freshwater cost of 8.73, 44.86%, 30,549 m3/day and 1.068 $/m3 of freshwater, respectively. Utilizing 66.96% of MSF brine blowdown by the HDH system leads to a daily HDH productivity of about 670 m3 of drinking water, which is enough to support 134,000 persons considering a daily consumption of 5 L of drinking water per person.

Generalizing the result of Bownik and Speegle [Approximation Theory X: Wavelets, Splines and Applications, Vanderbilt University Press, pp. 63–85, 2002], we provide plenty of non-MSF A-wavelets with the help of a given A-wavelet set. Further, by showing that the dimension function of the non-MSF A-wavelet constructed through an A-wavelet set W coincides with the dimension function of W, we conclude that the non-MSF A-wavelet and the A-wavelet set through which it is constructed possess the same nature as far as the multiresolution analysis is concerned. Some examples of non-MSF d-wavelets and non-MSF A-wavelets are also provided. As an illustration we exhibit a pathwise connected class of non-MSF non-MRA wavelets sharing the same wavelet dimension function.

Resumen
Cytokinesis in animal cells involves the contraction of an actomyosin ring formed at the cleavage furrow. Nuclear division, or karyokinesis, must be precisely timed to occur before cytokinesis in order to prevent genetic anomalies that would result in either cell death or uncontrolled cell division. The septin family of GTPase proteins has been shown to be important for cytokinesis although little is known about their role during this process. Here we investigate the distribution and function of the mammalian septin MSF. We show that during interphase, MSF colocalizes with actin, microtubules, and another mammalian septin, Nedd5, and coprecipitates with six septin proteins. In addition, transfections of various MSF isoforms reveal that MSF-A specifically localizes with microtubules and that this localization is disrupted by nocodazole treatment. Furthermore, MSF isoforms localize primarily with tubulin at the central spindle during mitosis, whereas Nedd5 is mainly associated with actin. Microinjection of affinity-purified anti-MSF antibodies into synchronized cells, or depletion of MSF by small interfering RNAs, results in the accumulation of binucleated cells and in cells that have arrested during cytokinesis. These results reveal that MSF is required for the completion of cytokinesis and suggest a role that is distinct from that of Nedd5.

Resumen
Enteropancreatic hormone secretion is thought to include a cephalic phase, but the evidence in humans is ambiguous. We studied vagally induced gut hormone responses with and without muscarinic blockade in 10 glucose-clamped healthy men (age: 24.5 ± 0.6 yr, means ± SE; body mass index: 24.0 ± 0.5 kg/m2; HbA1c: 5.1 ± 0.1%/31.4 ± 0.5 mmol/mol). Cephalic activation was elicited by modified sham feeding (MSF, aka “chew and spit”) with or without atropine (1 mg bolus 45 min before MSF + 80 ng·kg−1·min−1 for 2 h). To mimic incipient prandial glucose excursions, glucose levels were clamped at 6 mmol/l on all days. The meal stimulus for the MSF consisted of an appetizing breakfast. Participants (9/10) also had a 6 mmol/l glucose clamp without MSF. Pancreatic polypeptide (PP) levels rose from 6.3 ± 1.1 to 19.9 ± 6.8 pmol/l (means ± SE) in response to MSF and atropine lowered basal PP levels and abolished the MSF response. Neither insulin, C-peptide, glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), nor glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) levels changed in response to MSF or atropine. Glucagon and ghrelin levels were markedly attenuated by atropine prior to and during the clamp: at t = 105 min on the atropine (ATR) + clamp (CLA) + MSF compared with the saline (SAL) + CLA and SAL + CLA + MSF days; baseline-subtracted glucagon levels were −10.7 ± 1.1 vs. −4.0 ± 1.1 and −4.7 ± 1.9 pmol/l (means ± SE), P < 0.0001, respectively; corresponding baseline-subtracted ghrelin levels were 303 ± 36 vs. 39 ± 38 and 3.7 ± 21 pg/ml (means ± SE), P < 0.0001. Glucagon and ghrelin levels were unaffected by MSF. Despite adequate PP responses, a cephalic phase response was absent for insulin, glucagon, GLP-1, GIP, and ghrelin.

Resumen
Introduction The membranous superficial fascia (MSF) was described early in the 19th century, as was its role in the clinical sign of urethral disruption. Clinical signs of haemorrhage or leakage of pancreatic and biliary fluid into the retroperitoneum, which were described throughout the 20th century, all relied on circumscribed discolouration of the skin of the torso. The objective of this study was to relate the anatomy of the MSF to clinical signs of retroperitoneal catastrophe. Methods The MSF was dissected in the torso of seven embalmed cadavers to note its extent and its attachments. The attachments of the MSF were mapped to the areas of skin discolouration that are described in the clinical signs. Results The well known extent of the MSF in the inguinal region, its continuation into the perineum and its attachment to the fascia lata of the thigh were confirmed with our method of dissection. Dissection was continued superiorly, demonstrating continuation of the MSF over the entire torso with loose fibrous attachment of the MSF to the deep fascia. The MSF is firmly adherent to the midline of the abdomen except for the umbilicus, to a horizontal line below the clavicles and laterally in the abdomen to form pockets. The lines of firm adhesion correspond with the borders of the discoloured areas described in the clinical signs. Conclusions Circumscription of discolouration seen in the eponymous clinical signs of retroperitoneal catastrophe is explained by confinement of coloured retroperitoneal fluid by the MSF and its deep attachments.

Resumen
Stable silk fibroin (SF) membranes were prepared by modifying SF with polyethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (PEGDE) for use as enzyme immobilizing matrix. Morphology, structure, and water solubility of the modified silk fibroin (MSF) membrane were investigated. SEM images revealed greater porosity in the MSF membranes. IR spectra confirmed the predominant β-sheet conformation when the PEGDE was greater than 4%. In addition, the MSF membranes were highly insoluble within the pH range 4 10. An amperometric glucose biosensor was initially constructed using glucose oxidase (GOx) immobilized on the MSF membrane, coupled to a Prussian Blue (PB) deposited Au electrode. The response characteristics of the biosensors based on the GOx immobilized onto the 4% and 8% PEGDE modified SF membranes (4P-MSF and 8P-MSF) and the methanol treated SF membrane (MT-SF) were investigated. Amperometric measurements at the applied potential of 0.0 V demonstrated that the glucose biosensor based on the GOx immobilized onto the 4P-MSF membrane exhibited high sensitivity to glucose with a short response time, less than 3 s. Moreover, the stability of the biosensors based on the 4P-MSF membranes was better than those based on the MT-SF membrane after 2 weeks of storage in a phosphate buffer of pH 7.0 at 4 °C. These fundamental electroanalytical features of the sensor are therefore expected to be useful in biosensor application

Resumen
Abstract This study evaluated the anatomical relationship between posterior teeth root apices and maxillary sinus floor (MSF) on 202 cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) exams. The distance between the root apices and the MSF, as well as the MSF thickness of the cortical bone closest to root apices and furcation regions were measured. The vertical and horizontal relationships of the MSF with the molar roots were classified into categories adapted from the criteria proposed by Kwak et al. (14). The shortest distances between MSF and the root apices were observed in the mesiobuccal root of the second molar (0.36±1.17 mm) and the palatal root of the first molar (0.45±1.10 mm) and the widest in buccal roots of the first premolars (5.47±4.43 mm). Significant differences were observed between the distance of MSF to the root apices of single-rooted first and second premolars. The cortical thickness ranged from 0.65±0.41 mm over the mesiobuccal root of the second molar to 1.28±0.42 mm over the buccal root of the first premolar. The most observed vertical and horizontal relationships were type II and 2H, respectively. The maxillary molar roots showed greater proximity to the MSF. The thickness of the MSF cortical bone closest to the apices and furcation regions was found to be similar only for premolars.

Soil fertility is a crucial factor determining the growth and yield of plants. The increase of nutrient content and availability in soil can be achieved by fertilization. A field experiment was conducted using a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications in order to study the effects of Mixed Source of Fertilizer (MSF) application on the nutrient contents in Vertisol and its relationship to the growth and yield of mustard. The first factor was the three MSF formulas (F1, F2, F3) and second factor was the doses of MSF (0; 2.5; 5.0; 7.5; 10 Mg ha-1) applied to the soil. At the end of the experiment, the soil pH, CEC, organic-C, total-N, available-P and exchangeable-K contents were measured. The results show that there are no significant differences on the soil chemical characteristics, such as pH, organic-C content, available-P, exchangeable-K, -Ca and -Mg measured after application of different MSF formulas to the soil. Meanwhile, the increase of MSF doses applied to the soil significantly increases organic-C content, total-N, available-P and exchangeable-K in the soil. The significant increase of available-P (by 29.13%) and total-N (by 24.1%) occured after application of MSF at 5.0 Mg ha-1 and the increase of exchangeable-K (by 50%) is achieved after application of 7.5 Mg ha-1, in comparison to that without MSF application. The height and fresh weight of mustard increase in accordance with the increase of MSF doses applied. The application of 10.0 Mg ha-1 MSF results in the highest height and fresh weight of the mustard up to 63.9% and 620%, respectively. The height and fresh weight of mustard are positively correlated to the total-N, available-P and exchangeable-K in the soil. The MSF is an alternative fertilizer that can be used to improve Vertisol fertility and plant growth.

Resumen
AbstractObjectivesTo assess the diagnostic value of an early anomaly scan in fetuses with increased nuchal translucency (NT) in the prediction of aneuploidy.MethodsIn this study we analyzed the data of pregnant women obtained at their first trimester screening in our unit. The detailed examination routinely includes measurement of NT and a scan for anatomical defects. For fetuses with an NT≥3.5 mm, the diagnostic power of early major sonographic findings (MSF) regarding abnormal karyotype was calculated.ResultsA total of 7352 first trimester examinations were screened. Two hundred and twenty-two fetuses with an NT≥3.5 mm were analyzed. The median gestational age was 12.5 weeks (range 11.0–14.6) and the median NT was 5.1 mm (range 3.5–15.3). MSF were detected in 51.8% of fetuses with increased NT. Among 115 fetuses with MSF, 91 were aneuploid, yielding a positive predictive value for aneuploidy of 79.1%. In the absence of MSF, the negative predictive value was 70.1%. The presence of MSF was significantly predictive for aneuploidy both in bivariate and multivariate regression analysis.ConclusionOur study underlines the importance of a detailed anatomical ultrasound in fetuses with increased NT, as MSF occurred frequently. However, the diagnostic value of MSF regarding aneuploidies appears to be moderate.

Resumen
<b><i>Objective:</i></b> Mediterranean spotted fever (MSF) is a tick-borne rickettsial infection endemic to the Mediterranean coastline countries. As a result of growing tourism, imported cases have been registered in many nonendemic countries and regions. We present clinical laboratory parameters and histopathological data on renal impairment in patients with MSF. The study meets our goal of identifying kidney involvement and detecting renal damage in people with MSF. <b><i>Subjects and Methods:</i></b> Three hundred fifty patients with MSF with a diagnosis confirmed by immunofluorescence analysis were tested for serum urea, creatinine, and albumin. Fifty-five patients with malignant form of MSF were divided into 2 groups: 19 fatalities and 36 survivors. The percentage of patients with acute renal failure (ARF) was compared in both groups. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Subjects with elevated urea and creatinine levels increased from 5.21 to 3.47% in mild to 48.78 and 29.26% in severe MSF, respectively. Loss of serum albumin also increased from mild to severe MSF. Renal impairment comprised 60% of the cohort of 55 patients with malignant MSF: 89.4% in the group of deaths and almost twice less in the survivors. ARF developed in 84.2% of fatal cases and was &#x3e;2 times less in survivors. Postmortem light microscopy of renal samples of 9 fatal cases revealed perivascular mononuclear inflammatory infiltrates, vasculitis with fibrinoid necrosis, acute tubular necrosis, interstitial edema, hemorrhage, and thrombosis. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> Renal pathology associated with MSF rickettsial infection consists of systemic small vessel vasculitis and vascular injury, leading to ARF in the most severe cases.

Resumen
ObjectivesTo examine a narrative multisource feedback (MSF) instrument concerning feasibility, quality of narrative comments, perceptions of users (face validity), consequential validity, discriminating capacity and number of assessors needed.DesignQualitative text analysis supplemented by quantitative descriptive analysis.SettingInternal Medicine Departments in Zealand, Denmark.Participants48 postgraduate trainees in internal medicine specialties, 1 clinical supervisor for each trainee and 376 feedback givers (respondents).InterventionThis study examines the use of an electronic, purely narrative MSF instrument. After the MSF process, the trainee and the supervisor answered a postquestionnaire concerning their perception of the process. The authors coded the comments in the MSF reports for valence (positive or negative), specificity, relation to behaviour and whether the comment suggested a strategy for improvement. Four of the authors independently classified the MSF reports as either ‘no reasons for concern’ or ‘possibly some concern’, thereby examining discriminating capacity. Through iterative readings, the authors furthermore tried to identify how many respondents were needed in order to get a reliable impression of a trainee.ResultsOut of all comments coded for valence (n=1935), 89% were positive and 11% negative. Out of all coded comments (n=4684), 3.8% were suggesting ways to improve. 92% of trainees and supervisors preferred a narrative MSF to a numerical MSF, and 82% of the trainees discovered performance in need of development, but only 53% had made a specific plan for development. Kappa coefficients for inter-rater correlations between four authors were 0.7–1. There was a significant association (p<0.001) between the number of negative comments and the qualitative judgement by the four authors. It was not possible to define a specific number of respondents needed.ConclusionsA purely narrative MSF contributes with educational value and experienced supervisors can discriminate between trainees’ performances based on the MSF reports.

Resumen
The effect of modified silica fume (mSF) and cellulose fiber (CF) content on the cure characteristics, mooney viscosity, mechanical, durability and heat resistance properties are investigated; as compared with SF and unfilled natural rubber. From the results reveal that mSF and CF affect not only fast cure rate, high viscosity but also improve rubber mechanical and heat resistance properties. Additionally, the mSF and CF are added into the natural rubber to produce antivibration rubber product and then study the rubber product performance such as durability properties. The mSF and CF effective in improving the crack resistance of antivibration rubber product more than SF and unfilled natural rubber which is due to enhancing the stiffness. The all obtained results, it can be proved that mSF and CF as the new alternative fillers in rubber industry.

Resumen
Investigating the stability of the synchronization manifold is a critical topic in the field of complex dynamical networks. Master stability function (MSF) is known as a powerful and efficient tool for the study of synchronization in complex identical networks. The network can be synchronized whenever the MSF is negative. MSF uses the Lyapunov or Floquet exponent theory to determine the stability of the synchronization state. Both of these methods need extensive numerical simulation and a long computational time. In this paper, a new approach to calculate MSF is proposed. The accuracy of the results and time of simulations are tested on seven different known oscillators and also compared with the conventional methods of MSF. The results show that the proposed technique is faster and more efficient than the existing methods.

Resumen
Abstract Multi Stage Flash (MSF) distillation plants are widely used in saline water desalination. In order to enhance MSF, it is important to increase an evaporation rate in the flashing stage. A spray flash method, in which superheated water jets are injected through nozzles into a depressurized environment to increase the gas/liquid interface area, is a promising technique to make the increase of evaporation rate, which leads directly to the reduction of energy consumption and cost of the MSF plant. In this paper, the introduction of microbubbles into the spray jet as the nucleation sites to increase the evaporation rate of the spray flash is proposed. The spray flash behaviours with/without microbubbles at outside/inside of the nozzle-inside were observed by means of a high speed camera to investigate the mechanism of enhancement of spray flash due to microbubbles. Moreover, the number densities of droplets and bubble volume increase were obtained from visualized images in order to discuss quantitatively on the effects of introduction of microbubbles.

Resumen
High throughput techniques such as RNA-seq or microarray analysis have proven to be invaluable for the characterization of global transcriptional gene activity changes due to external stimuli or diseases. Differential gene expression analysis (DGEA) is the first step in the course of data interpretation, typically producing lists of dozens to thousands of differentially expressed genes. To further guide the interpretation of these lists, different pathway analysis approaches have been developed. These tools typically rely on the classification of genes into sets of genes, such as pathways, based on the interactions between the genes and their function in a common biological process. Regardless of technical differences, these methods do not properly account for cross talk between different pathways and rely on binary separation into differentially expressed gene and unaffected genes based on an arbitrarily set p-value cut-off. To overcome this limitation, we developed a novel approach to identify concertedly modulated sub-graphs in the global cell signaling network, based on the DGEA results of all genes tested. Thereby, expression patterns of genes are integrated according to the topology of their interactions and allow potentially to read the flow of information from the perturbation source to the effectors. The described software, named Modulated Sub-graph Finder (MSF) is freely available at https: //github.com/Modulated-Subgraph-Finder/MSF.
