Resumen
Abstract Purpose Results of a study to determine the 90-day stability of dronabinol capsules stored under various temperature conditions are reported. Methods High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection was used to assess the stability of dronabinol capsules (synthetic delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol [Δ9-THC] mixed with high-grade sesame oil and other inactive ingredients and encapsulated as soft gelatin capsules) that were frozen, refrigerated, or kept at room temperature for three months. The dronabinol capsules remained in the original foil-sealed blister packs until preparation for HPLC–UV assessment. The primary endpoint was the percentage of the initial Δ9-THC concentration remaining at multiple designated time points. The secondary aim was to perform forced-degradation studies under acidic conditions to demonstrate that the HPLC–UV method used was stability indicating. Results The appearance of the dronabinol capsules remained unaltered during frozen, cold, or room-temperature storage. Regardless of storage condition, the percentage of the initial Δ9-THC content remaining was greater than 97% for all evaluated samples at all time points over the three-month study. These experimental data indicate that the product packaging and the sesame oil used to formulate dronabinol capsules efficiently protect Δ9-THC from oxidative degradation to cannabinol; this suggests that pharmacies can store dronabinol capsules in nonrefrigerated automated dispensing systems, with a capsule expiration date of 90 days after removal from the refrigerator. Conclusion Dronabinol capsules may be stored at room temperature in their original packaging for up to three months without compromising capsule appearance and with minimal reduction in Δ9-THC concentration.

Resumen
Change-point detection is an integral component of statistical modeling and estimation. For high-dimensional data, classical methods based on the Mahalanobis distance are typically inapplicable. We propose a novel testing statistic by combining a modified Euclidean distance and an extreme statistic, and its null distribution is asymptotically normal. The new method naturally strikes a balance between the detection abilities for both dense and sparse changes, which gives itself an edge to potentially outperform existing methods. Furthermore, the number of change-points is determined by a new Schwarz’s information criterion together with a pre-screening procedure, and the locations of the change-points can be estimated via the dynamic programming algorithm in conjunction with the intrinsic order structure of the objective function. Under some mild conditions, we show that the new method provides consistent estimation with an almost optimal rate. Simulation studies show that the proposed method has satisfactory performance of identifying multiple change-points in terms of power and estimation accuracy, and two real data examples are used for illustration.

In this work, a new analytical methodology has been implemented for the screening of antibacterial activity of dendrigraft poly-L-lysines (DGL) by capillary electrophoresis (CE). The principle of this methodology is based on the monitoring of the electrophoretic profile of bacteria before and after the meeting with a zone containing the cationic compound to be screened. The implementation of this methodology has required several steps. In a first experimental part, a new methodology has been developed for the focalization, mobilization and quantification of bacteria. This focusing mode has been applied for the quantification of bacteria in natural waters. In a second experimental part, several neutral capillary coatings were compared for the simultaneous CE analysis of polyanionic and polycationic compounds. In the last experimental part, the screening of antibacterial activity has been implemented on DGL

Chen, Shaoyao. "Modified train wheel wear calculation for fast calculation". Thesis, KTH, Spårfordon, 2021. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kth:diva-290037.

Texto completo
Resumen
In this thesis, a modified wear calculation method is developed to calculate the train wheel wear, which can give less precise but faster results compared to the classic wear calculation method. This modified method is developed based on the classic wear calculation method developed by Jendel, which uses Hertz theory and Kalker’s simplified theory to calculate the contact variables and uses Achard theory to calculate the wear volume in an iterative manner. Compared with the classic method, this modified wear calculation method does not execute the multibody simulation (MBS) at each wear step, instead, it executes MBS by different strategies, for example, does MBS only at the first wear step or does it at every several wear steps. This way, a look-up table is utilised to store the contact variables from MBS and when no MBS is executed, the variables stored in the look-up table would be used to calculate the wear.In order to make the implementation of the modified wear calculation method possible, a contact point detection program is developed in this research. Significantly, this contact point detection program considers the material flexibility and can detect multiple contact points, which makes it very precise. It uses the pressure distribution calculated by Winkler theory as a weighting function to consider the material flexibility. In terms of multiple contact points detection, the gap between wheel and rail is regarded as a function, and the derivative relationship of the function is used to detect multiple contact points. Results from the modified wear calculation method are compared with results from the classic wear calculation method. The effects of different strategies are discussed, and the analysis of the error source is carried out in this work. This modified wear calculation method could be used for predicting the wear condition of the wheel when a quick result with only moderate precision is needed.

Atmospheric bioaerosols are particles of primary biological aerosols suspended in the air and referred in the literature as: Primary Biological Aerosol Particles (PBAPs). PBAPs have very different sizes and coposition. They have the ability to act as cloud condensation nuclei or ice nuclei and thus participate in the water cycle on earth. They can be transported far from their sources and they can in this way colonize new ecosystems. Their allergenic or pathogenic propoeries have an impact on human and animal health. This work on the variability of atmospheric bioaerosols in the Ile de France region concerns pollens, molds and bacteria. The observations were made in the boundary layer at the SIRTA/LSCE observatory. This pioneering work in the Ile-de-France region had the objective to: (1) document the interannual, seasonal and daily variability specific to each of the PBAPs, (2) determine their respective geographical origins, (3) study the meteorological parameters that control their life cycle in the atmosphere. My last objective (4) has been to develop an on line instrumenst to measure in real time BPAPs concentrations with a focus on pollen

Contour extraction is one of the image processing technologies, in obtaining get the contour of the objects from an unknown image. It is also one of the most important pre-processing in image processing application. The first obtain the morphological representation of the object using skeletonization, and then detects the initial inflection points iteratively for each object. The difficulty curvatures problem of contour extraction is that if the shape of the object contains complicated, the accuracy of contour extracted could be affected. Therefore, this paper proposes a fast and accurate contour extraction method obtain multiple-objects from an unknown image. The proposed contour extraction method is consisted of two steps, Initial Edge Critical Inflection Edge Points Detection (IECIEPD) and Segmental Bi-directional Edges Search、Linking and Pruning(SBESLP). After the initial contour points are found, the origin and target points pruning and linking in two directions on each contour segment with the edge searching, and finally, the segmented contours are connected to obtain closed contour for each object in image.

Texto completo
Resumen
This handbook is aimed at helping users of PMTs who are faced with the challenge of designing sensitive light detectors for scientific and industrial purposes. The raison d’être for photomultipliers (PMTs) stems from four intrinsic attributes: large detection area, high, and noiseless gain, and wide bandwidth. Detection involves a conversion process from photons to photoelectrons at the photocathode. Photoelectrons are subsequently collected and increased in number by the action of an incorporated electron multiplier. Photon detection, charge multiplication, and many PMT applications are statistical in nature. For this reason appropriate statistical treatments are provided and derived from first principles. PMTs are characterized by a range of photocathodes offering detection over UV to infra-red wavelengths, the sensitivities of which can be calibrated by National Laboratories. The optical interface between light sources and PMTs, particularly for diffuse or uncollimated light, is sparsely covered in the scientific literature. The theory of light guides, Winston cones, and other light concentrators points to means for optimizing light collection subject to the constraints of Liouville’s theorem (étandue). Certain PMTs can detect single photons but are restricted by the limitations of unwanted background ranging in magnitude from a fraction of a photoelectron equivalent to hundreds of photoelectrons. These sources, together with their correlated nature, are examined in detail. Photomultiplier biasing requires a voltage divider comprising a series of resistors or active components, such as FETs. Correct biasing provides the key to linear operation and so considerable attention is given to the treatment of this topic. Electronic circuits and modules that perform the functions of charge to voltage conversion, pulse shaping, and impedance matching are analysed in detail.

Resumen
Spherical targets are used extensively in the registration and coordinate transformation of the railway point cloud. Thus, it is necessary to accurately detect the spherical targets from the railway point cloud. This paper proposes an automatic spherical targets detection method with multiple geometrical constraints. In this method, possible spherical points are extracted by the improved three points filter method. And possible spherical points are refined according to neighborhood height difference and curvature. Then, the refined possible spherical points are spatially clustered by the Euclidean clustering method and the potential target point clouds can be extracted by constructing the spherical neighborhood according to the cluster centroid. Finally, the ratio constrained random sample consensus (RC-RANSAC) method is proposed in this paper, based on the RANSAC method, to detect the spherical targets in the potential target point clouds. The point cloud scanned from the high-speed railway is taken as experimental data. The spherical targets in the point cloud are detected by this method. The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect the spherical target with and without the background in radial direction.

Resumen
In traditional data analysis, data points lie in a Cartesian space, and an analyst asks certain questions: (1) What distribution can I fit to the data? (2) Which points are outliers? (3) Are there distinct clusters or substructure? Today, data mining treats richer and richer types of data. Social networks encode information about people and their communities; relational data sets incorporate multiple types of entities and links; and temporal information describes the dynamics of these systems. With such semantically complex data sets, a greater variety of patterns can be described and views constructed of the data. This article describes a specific social structure that may be present in such data sources and presents a framework for detecting it. The goal is to identify tribes, or small groups of individuals that intentionally coordinate their behavior—individuals with enough in common that they are unlikely to be acting independently. While this task can only be conceived of in a domain of interacting entities, the solution techniques return to the traditional data analysis questions. In order to find hidden structure (3), we use an anomaly detection approach: develop a model to describe the data (1), then identify outliers (2).

Resumen
This article presents the problem of building bi-dimensional maps of environments when the sensor available is a camera used to detect edges crossing a single line of pixels and motion is restricted to a straight line along the optical axis. The position over time must be provided or assumed. Mapping algorithms for these conditions can be built with the landmark parameters estimated from sets of matched detection from multiple images. This article shows how maps that are correctly up to scale can be built without knowledge of the camera intrinsic parameters or speed during uniform motion, and how performing an inverse parameterization of the image coordinates turns the mapping problem into the fitting of line segments to a group of points. The resulting technique is a simplified form of visual SLAM that can be better suited for applications such as obstacle detection in mobile robots.
