Resumen
Frequentemente sistemas de automação desenvolvidos utilizando a plataforma Arduino fazem o armazenamento de dados em bases MySQL através da utilização de um middleware. Tal metodologia, embora eficaz, necessita de aquisição e desenvolvimento tornando-se custosa e onerosa. Este artigo apresenta uma proposta para a persistência de dados dispensando a camada intermediária, com objetivo de tonar essa tarefa mais fácil e eficiente. Para o desenvolvimento do trabalho foram utilizadas tecnologias como Arduino Uno, Ethernet Shield e MySQL. Ao final serão expostos os resultados, e sugeridas implementações futuras.

In this article we will try to explain how we can create a search engine using the powerful MySQL full-text search. The ever increasing demands of the web requires cheap and elaborate search options. One of the most important issues for a search engine is to have the capacity to order its results set as relevance and provide the user with suggestions in the case of a spelling mistake or a small result set. In order to fulfill this request we thought about using the powerful MySQL full-text search. This option is suitable for small to medium scale websites. In order to provide sound like capabilities, a second table containing a bag of words from the main table together with the corresponding metaphone is created. When a suggestion is needed, this table is interrogated for the metaphone of the searched word and the result set is computed resulting a suggestion.

As demandas de organização, representação, armazenamento, acesso e uso de unidades organizacionais têm suscitado reflexões sobre o uso de softwares que possibilitem a construção de repositórios digitais. Os repositórios digitais são sistemas de informação que armazenam, preservam, divulgam e dão acesso à produção intelectual de comunidades científicas ou pessoas. São softwares utilizados para construção de repositórios: Eprints, Greeenstone, Nou-Rau, Fedora e DSpace. Este último largamente utilizado no Brasil. O presente trabalho objetiva apresentar um relato de experiência sobre a criação de repositórios digitais utilizando o Wordpress, uma ferramenta gratuita de CMS (Content Management System) escrita na linguagem PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) com o banco de dados MySQL. A ferramenta Wordpress, com algumas customizações, pode ser utilizada para receber metadados de documentos digitais estruturados em textos, imagens, vídeos, animações, áudios, entre outros. Do ponto de vista metodológico, a presente pesquisa pode ser classificada como exploratória e descritiva. Utilizou-se uma abordagem analítica qualitativa para avaliar a customização e adaptação do Wordpress para o contexto dos repositórios digitais. O Wordpress, combinado com um banco de dados MySQL, apresentou funcionalidades e capacidade de customização adequadas para serem utilizados no contexto dos repositórios digitais, facilitando a inserção dos metadados e posterior recuperação dos documentos digitais.

Resumen
In this paper, we report the benchmarking results of Hyperledger, a Distributed Ledger, which is the derivation Blockchain Technology. Method to evaluate Hyperledger in a limited infrastructure is developed. The measured infrastructure consists of 8 nodes with a load of up to 20000 transactions/second.. The benchmarking of Hyperledger shows better than a database system in a high workload scenario. We found that the maximum size data volume in one transaction on the Hyperledger network is around ten (10) times of MySQL. Also, the time spent on processing a single transaction in the blockchain network is 80-200 times faster than MySQL. This initial analysis can provide an overview for practitioners in making decisions about the adoption of blockchain technology in their IT systems.

This study uses the Elgamal method in conducting cryptography. From these techniques was selected MySQL replication technology that solves the synchronization task of distributed evidence database system of health implantable devices in the best way. The replication was implemented on this database system and after the testing was used in the company Timplant Ltd.

Masters of Science<br>Coders of databases repeatedly face the problem of checking their Structured Query Language (SQL) code. Instructors face the difficulty of checking student projects and lab assignments in database courses. We collect and categorize common MySQL programming errors into three groups: data definition errors, data manipulation errors, and transaction control errors. We build these into a comprehensive list of MySQL errors, which novices are inclined make during database programming. We collected our list of common MySQL errors both from the technical literature and directly by noting errors made in assignments handed in by students. In the results section of this research, we check and summarize occurrences of these errors based on three characteristics as semantics, syntax, and logic. These data form the basis of a future static MySQL checker that will eventually assist database coders to correct their code automatically. These errors also form a useful checklist to guide students away from the mistakes that they are prone to make.

<p>The purpose with this work that is the basis for this thesis was to help Nattavaara Economical association to develop a program for handling invoices, customer information, and storage. The program and this thesis have been done in cooperation with the economical association in Nattavaara. </p><p>Some of the demands on the program are that it shall handle customer information, storage status, invoices and diesel consumption. The program must be able to printout invoices, reminders, delivery notes, a customer list and a storage list. All information will be stored in a database. </p><p>The program was implemented in the program language Java and with a MySQL database; since they both are platform independent and we have previous experience using them. </p><p>The program is window based and built around the usage of tabbed windows; there every tab represents an own functionality, this to create a foreseeable and easy navigated program. User friendliness is something that has been taken into consideration in the process of developing this program, among other things through grouping of adjacent information and the placement of buttons. One of the conclusions with this work is that Java can with advantage be used to create graphical interfaces with connections to databases. </p><p>Further development of the program could be for example to improve the quality of the printouts and the handling of the database initiation.</p>

Speed is a very important factor in websites and other types of applications and almost all applications stores some type of data, normally in a database. For an example a blog typically saves users, posts and comments. There’s a high risk that as the amount of data in the database grows, the time for inserting and requesting specific data increases. If it takes more than some seconds to view a specific page, a user will normally leave the site. However, it’s a fact that the database will grow while the application will become more popular but it’s possible to save a lot of time if using right database, and structure. In this thesis MongoDB and MySQL will be compared with focus on time consumption. SQL (Structured Query Language) is the language which most databases use. This kind of database stores data in structured tables and noting can be added to them if the type of data is incorrect. SQL also support relations between tables. MySQL is a very popular relational database management system (RDBMS) which for example websites frequently makes use of. NoSQL is a new type of databases where the data is stored in collections without any kind of structure, unlike the well known SQL databases where the data is stored in structured tables. Because of the non-structure, these types of databases are designed to be fast and scalable over multiple machines. Mongodb is a such kind of NoSql-database. Tests has been done both on inserting and processing when handling up to 4 millions entities, MongoDB performs better in almost every test. Results shows that the processing time is shorter using MongoDb in the cases that this thesis is covering, and that it’s possible to implement a much fast application when using MongoDb instead of Mysql as database.

The task was to create a professional interactive homepage for the company where the company's range of products can be presented. Besides a homepage aimed towards potential customers, an online Internet-application where the company's employees can update, erase, and create posts that are stored in the database was created. The main programming languages have been PHP and HTML in combination with databases in MySQL. The final result was a functional, professional and informative homepage with a simple and pedagogical application for the employees. In this report the reader gets a detailed statement of the project.</p>

<p>Den här rapporten beskriver arbetet med att skapa en dynamisk designdriven webbsida åt Landegrens Legomek AB, ett mindre företag inom tillverkningsindustrin. Företaget hade sedan tidigare en statisk webbsida och ville förnya denna i takt med den ökade vikten av att synas på Internet. Design och layout är anpassad till företages profil och kunder för att ge ett seriös och formellt intryck. Vi har valt att skapa den nya webbsidan med databasservern MySQL och skriptspråket PHP. Även JavaScript är en del i implementeringen. Till den nya webbsidan har vi också skapat en administrativ tjänst som är webb-baserad, denna ger möjlighet att enkelt uppdatera innehållet på webbplatsen. Arbetet har inte endast omfattat den tekniska delen utan även berört andra delar som foto och copywriting. </p><p>Företaget har valt att ha sin hemsida hos ett webbhotell, i det här fallet Telia. Fördelen är främst säkerhet och underhåll av systemet. Nackdelen är de begränsningar som webbhotellet har, bland annat ftp-stödet i PHP som fullständigt saknas vilket har lett till att vi fick implementera andra lösningar. </p><br><p>This report describes how to create a dynamic and design driven web page for Landegrens Legomek AB, a minor company in the manufacturing business. The company had already recognized the need to update its former web page to a more modern design to keep up with the current trends on the Internet. Design and layout were adapted to the company’s profile and its customers, this to give the right impression of the company. The page was created with the database server MySQL together with the script language PHP. JavaScript is also a part of the implementation. We have also created an web interface for updating and managing the web page in an easy way. The work also included other parts beside the technical implementation, such as photography and copywriting. </p><p>The company has chosen to place its website in a web hotel, for this case Telia. The advantage with this solution is the security as well as the managing of the system. The disadvantage is the limits of the web hotel, e.g. the missing ftp support in PHP, which has forced us to choose other solutions.</p>

Solid State Drives (SSD) blir idag allt vanligare som lagringsmedium och håller på att bli ett alternativ till magnetiska hårddiskar. Denna studie+ har undersökt hur man på bästa sätt kan utnjytta SSDer i en MySQL-databas. Undersökningen genomfördes med hjälp av experiment där prestandamätningar gjordes för att få en klar bild på i vilken konfiguration av SSDs som ger bäst prestanda i MySQL. Mätverktygen som användes var sql-bench och mysqlslap.   Resultaten visar att en databas på en enskild SSD presterar lika bra som en databas med  SSD-cache  under  majoriteten  av  mätningarna  och  visar  bättre  resultat  än resterande konfigurationerna som var en databas på hårddisk och transaktionsloggen på en SSD.<br>Solid State Drives (SSD) are now becoming  more common as storage and is about to  become  an  alternative  to  magnetic  disks.  This  report  studied  how  to  best  utilize SSDs in a MySQL database. This study was carried out using experiments in which performance benchmarks were made to get an accurate view on which configuration of  SSDs  that  gives  the  best  performance  in  MySQL.  The  benchmarks  where  made with sql-bench and mysqlslap.   The  results  indicate  that  a  database  using  only  SSD  storage  performs  equal  to  a database of solid-state cache under the majority of the tests and shows better results than the remaining configurations that include a database on a single hard drive and a configuration with the transaction log on a SSD.

Context. Performance and resource usage is often an important factor for database driven services. Depending on the purpose of the application, choosing the wrong type of database may require unnecessary hardware upgrades or replacements. Objectives. This study investigates the differences in performance and resource usage between different SQL- and NoSQL-databases. The study is a comparison that focuses on how the databases perform in different applications. The purpose is to give a hint of which database may be the most appropriate depending on the application. Methods. The different databases are compared using experiments, executed with the help of a testing tool developed to measure the performance and resource usage for the different databases. Results. Several tests have been executed on Cassandra, MongoDB and MySQL that are the databases used in this study. Where the performance is measured as operations per second and the resource usage is measured as the activity of CPU, RAM and harddrive. Conclusions. We conclude that the databases perform differently well dependning on the application. In some of the cases MongoDB performed the best, while MySQL performed best in others. The resource usage also differs a lot, like the performance, dependning on the application. As a conclusion it’s recommended to test what database may suit the specific situation depending on the application.
