There are similarities between the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern (2000) by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, and the Central Nave of Musée d’Orsay (1986) by Pierre Colboc, Renaud Bardon and Jean-Paul Philippon. Both came into being through the conversion of defunct industrial and infrastructural facilities. Their scales are also similar to each other, as the Turbine Hall measures approximately 152 metres long, 22 metres wide and 35 metres high and the Central Nave of Musée d’Orsay, 138 metres long, 40 metres wide and 32 metres high.

Resumen
AbstractThis paper shows the way Leon Battista Alberti treatise De Re Aedificatoria column systematization shape grammar was built, and how the longitudinal elevation of the nave of the Sant'Andrea church was designed, evidencing some steps involved in the grammar construction process, its derivation, and the partial outputs gained from the grammar evaluation. The goal of this grammar is to infer Alberti's treatise rules through a computational approach evidencing its algorithmic nature, illustrating it, and understanding the De Re Aedificatoria rules that may be applied in the generation of some parts of buildings such as the Sant'Andrea church, showing a complementary method to archaeological, bibliographical, historical ones, among others, that have been used to understand the built environment. The rules provided by the grammar may be applied to an initial insertion point to produce a complete column and to a pre-existing plan or section element of a building generating its facade. It was proved, evaluating the grammar with a simple linear regression method, to what extent the treatise influenced the design of the facade in the study.

For the interpretation of point clouds, the semantic definition of extracted segments from point clouds or images is a common problem. Usually, the semantic of geometrical pre-segmented point cloud elements are determined using probabilistic networks and scene databases. The proposed semantic segmentation method is based on the psychological human interpretation of geometric objects, especially on fundamental rules of primary comprehension. Starting from these rules the buildings could be quite well and simply classified by a human operator (e.g. architect) into different building types and structural elements (dome, nave, transept etc.), including particular building parts which are visually detected. The key part of the procedure is a novel method based on hashing where point cloud projections are transformed into binary pixel representations. A segmentation approach released on the example of classical Orthodox churches is suitable for other buildings and objects characterized through a particular typology in its construction (e.g. industrial objects in standardized enviroments with strict component design allowing clear semantic modelling).

Resumen
If there is to be more controversy about the Industrial Revolution, let it not be on non-problems.—R. M. Hartwell (1984: 68)My concern in this article is not with the process of industrialization in England or Great Britain, with its causes, or (with one exception) with its supposed consequences. Therefore I will not attempt to comment except in passing on the abundant and still-burgeoning literature devoted to it. Instead, my focus is on the name by which that process (or its putative beginnings) is generally but incorrectly known. As I have argued elsewhere, the term industrial revolution is a misnomer without scientific basis (Cameron 1981, 1982). It was a catchphrase popularized by a youthful, naive social reformer, not a scholar, who wanted to draw attention to the causes of what he regarded as the moral degradation of the British working classes (Toynbee 1884; on his naïveté see Kadish 1986).

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to offer a feminography, that is a “narration of a female self in a feminist age” (Abrams, 2017) by presenting a conceptual analysis, derived from experience, of email providing a form of discourse – that the author calls finger-speak – through which unexamined gender positioning caricatures a person’s identity. In so doing, the paper provides an illustrative case of a female manager being positioned through email to “know her place, perform it and feel it” (Hey, 2011). Design/methodology/approach An analysis of email foregrounds “finger-speak” as a form of digital conversation and through which people in universities may be positioned publicly but without their consent in relation to unexamined norms and assumptions. For women, it is argued, these norms are ageist and sexist. In this paper, fragments of finger-speak are collated to provide a reading of how mixing gendered norms with apparent differences of opinion constructs, via unexamined sexism, a public identity and then undermines it. Findings Through the case presented, the author argues that, because of a shared but unarticulated shadow over women as leaders, email lays the ground for subsequent scapegoating in such a manner that the woman takes responsibility for structural challenges that rightly belong to the organisation. Originality/value The contribution that email makes to constructing female identity in public is new, complementing other work that publicly characterises women leaders, through film (Ezzedeen, 2015), and through published writing such as autobiography (Kapasi et al., 2016). Emotional work undertaken by women in university leadership is so far under-represented in public, and email is a site through which this work becomes visible.

Resumen
«Bezymyanka» is the name of the largest industrial district of the city of Kuibyshev, now Samara. The expressive name can also be interpreted as a metaphor for many industrial cities of the Soviet era. In the XXI century various projects for the transformation of industrial cities are known. The cultural capital of Europe in 2007 was the oldest mining city in Germany, Essen, together with nearby industrial ancient mining towns in the Ruhr River Valley. The project was won by solving environmental problems and creative reformatting of the industrial city. It should be noted that the problems of Soviet industrial cities are presented in numerous Russian and foreign studies. So, the article refers to modern works on the search for justified transformations of «Soviet Magnitka»; Uralmash in Ekaterinburg and other problematic industrial cities. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to various interpretations of such cities. In Samara, there is also «bifurcation»: the old city and industrial Bezymyanka. To expose the sociocultural contradiction between the «old» and the «industrial city», the article reveals discrepancies that inhibit development. The author draws attention to the unique and overtaken by its time Grushinsky festival, in particular, its leaders. Conclusion: the lack of the balance of «old», «Soviet» and «post-Soviet» territories inside of one city is a problem of lack of personalities.

Industrial archaeology has traditionally concentrated on the recording and study of technological and engineering survivals — hence the name ‘industrial’ as, often, a near-synonym for ‘post-medieval’ in naming the archaeology of early modern capitalism. This study of three mundane industrial buildings draws upon building and documentary evidence as aids to understanding working structures not distinguished by technological or engineering innovation.

Resumen
The most recent Industrial Property Code of Mozambique (CPIM), approved by Decree 41/2015 of 31 December, brought, among other innovations in the field of trademarks, the consecration of the olfactory brand, one of the "new complex in terms of distinctive capacity and graphic representation, the latter being a very controversial aspect in the field of registration assumptions of the new brands. Although the problem of graphic representation has been circumvented by the European Union trademark law in accordance with its new Trademark Directive ( (EU) 15/2436 of Parliament and Council of 16 December 2015) which has removed it from the range of requirements of the trademark concept; many legal systems such as Mozambican law still maintain it. In fact, the reason for this theme is: to study the olfactory mark and its tutelage in Mozambique. The graphic representation of the new brands, and especially of the olfactory mark, is generally problematic. It seems that the new Industrial Property Code of Mozambique has been daring to consecrate this type of mark following the brand name (of the same species was provided for in the previous Code without however having known a single application for registration so far among other possible reasons, due to the difficulty of graphical representation. Will not end the olfactory mark by following the same path and be another type of trademark foreseen in CPIM without any registration? Nevertheless, with the consecration of the olfactory mark, the attention of the Mozambican legislator must be recognized and welcomed by the dynamics of the types of brands that currently have as a whole the new brands as an undeniable reality.

Despite the ‘archaeology’ in its name, industrial archaeology is a world of its own which barely figures in ANTIQUITY or the other general archaeology journals. A consistent trend in recent archaeology has been an interest in landscapes and the physical contexts of settlement, studies by survey rather than excavation of rich spot sites for their own sake. That landscape is usually rural, and its industry – mills, olive presses, or building-stone quarries – of a pastoral nature. Here, an approach is presented in that same spirit, as the archaeology of a more fully industrial landscape.

The article presents the divergence between legal norms and rules of orthography with regard to respect for industrial property. In line with international guidelines, the Slovene Industrial Property Act (ZIL-1) endows the owner of industrial property or a brand name with the exclusive right to its use, thus enabling the owner to prohibit its inappropriate use or demand its unmodified use. On the other hand, industrial product names are also linguistic entities, facts submitted to the rules of language use, changeand transformation. Frequently used names begin to be used in forms that differ from the original forms, a phenomenon that is related to the natural modification of the identification function of the original name. If such forms acquire a generic character their syntactic position is changed (they no longer appear as attributives), the initial letteris no longer capitalised (Kalodont > kalodont), and often the forms are phonetically adapted to the borrowing language (Cognac > konjak). As sources of information about the state of language use, language reference works present the names in these newforms. In light of the fact that brand name owners view generic use as illegal, such owners are legally bound to dispute the otherwise authentic representation of language data in language resources. Lexicographers all over the world are faced with lawyers telling lexicographers which form is allowed to be included in the dictionary (Landau 2001:405407). In Slovenia, we are currently dealing with a legal-orthographic dilemma regarding the use of the names Teflon, Aspirin and Cognac.

Uganda is one of the major cassava producing countries in the world. Currently, utilization of cassava is limited to semi-processed products through the informal sector. Cassava has technological potential as a raw material for agro-industrial products, such as flours for baked products, animal feeds and starch. The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical composition of five major cassava varieties grown in Nebbi distict (Uganda), to assess their potential as industrial raw materials. Analysis of the chemical composition of local (Nyamatia and Nyarukeca) and improved (NASE 3, NASE 14, and NASE 19) cassava varieties was carried out using standard methods. Results showed significant (p < 0.05) differences between the varieties indicating high levels of starch, calcium, magnesium, cyanonenic glucosides and phytates. The cassava varieties contain low levels of protein, lipids and minerals with respect to recommended daily intake of these nutrients. Moisture contents ranged from 5.43 for Nyamatia to 10.87 for NASE 19; ash from 1.05 for Nyamatia to 2.39 for NASE 14; crude fiber from 1.06 for Nyamatia to 1.18 for NASE 19; crude protein from 0.74 for Nyarukeca to 1.51 for NASE 14; crude lipid from 0.39 for Nyamatia to 0.63 for NASE 19; and starch contents from 66.72 for NASE 19 to 84.42 for NASE 3. The mineral contents (mg/kg): calcium ranged from 13.15 for Nyamatia to 16.56 for NASE 3; iron ranged from 0.002 for Nyarukeca to 0.01 for NASE 19; zinc ranged from 0.56 for Nyamatia to 0.87 for NASE 3; magnesium ranged from 3.58 for NASE 19 to 3.88 for Nyarukeca; and copper ranged from 0.002 for Nyamatia to 0.14 for NASE 3. The contents of anti-nutrients (mg/kg): cyanogenic glucosides ranged from 30 in NASE 3 and NASE 19 to 800 in Nyamatia; phytates ranged from 661.33 in Nyarukeca to 984.64 in NASE 3; oxalates ranged from 90.6 in Nyarukeca to 227.8 in NASE 3; and tannin ranged from 0.18 in Nyarukeca to 0.33 in NASE 3. Based on the chemical composition results, all the cassava varieties studied contain higher levels of cyanogenic glucosides than recommended by Ugandan and East African Standards, making them unsafe for direct utilization as food and food raw materials for industries at levels beyond 30% in food formulations. The high starch levels in all the cassava varieties make them valuable raw materials for starch and starch-related industries.

"Contributions to the research of the Technological-Industrial Museum of Cluj The Technological-Industrial Museum of Cluj opened its doors in 1888, with the name “Franz Iosif I Museum of Industry”, in memory of the Emperor's visit to Cluj, made in 1887. Frequent changes of premises, of exhibition spaces and finally the institution closing; transfers of artefacts between different institutions, which often resulted in the loss of essential documents needed for artefacts identification; all these considerably complicate both the research work and the attempts for exhibitional and educational valorisation. This paper aims to synthesise the information published, mostly in Hungarian, about the Technological-Industrial Museum from Cluj and to add the results of our own research on artefacts that nowadays belong to the Transylvanian Ethnographic Museum’s collections, wishing to provide a starting point for possible future publications on the subject. Resumen
The concepts and structures of corporatism have been used by the governments of many industrialising states to barness workers in the name of 'development'. One such state was Subarto's New Order Indonesia, where tbe translation of corporatist structures of industrial relations through discourse into practice underpinned the much- vaunted 'success' of Indonesia's development-driven economy. Now, as Indonesians struggle with the socio-economic and political cballenges that have accompanied the bursting of the development bubble, it is timely to reflect on the insights the Indonesian corporatist experiment provides into the operation of corporatism in an industrialising economy.

Resumen
AbstractThe production capacity of Hong Kong's electronics manufacturers for certain electronic products has reached the number-one ranking amongst world export suppliers in terms of total quantity, quality and values. Yet, there is an absence of global brand name electronic products in the industry. This paper aims to explore how this development pattern is possible by conducting indepth interview research with 35 managing directors and CEOs from the manufacturer companies, and analyzing secondary data from the Hong Kong government. The research findings indicate that without government support and assistance to overcome the structural difficulties in the production process, and market and product diversification, an individual manufacturer can hardly grow bigger in company size continuously and mobilize large amounts of capital to develop global brand name products. The study also indicates that the role of the government has no effect on the growth of the export sector; however, it influences the industrial organizational structure and industrial specialization pattern.

Resumen
Abstract Clusters became an integral part of regional policies intended to build and strengthen competitive advantages within specifically identified geographical areas. They are still considered crucial for economic development and employment, although their orientation has slightly changed as the distance and geographical boundaries lost their importance. This article analyses crucial regional data that indicates potentially beneficial economic concentrations as an assumption for the preparation of prospective clusters in Slovakia. Potential clusters were identified based on significant employment concentrations of particular regional industries that appear extraordinary when compared with national employment and the dynamic development within the selected time frame. Prospective clusters were identified, and opportunities of their development were described, including the harmonisation with the current regional and urban strategy. Analysing absolute and relative quantities in employment, sections and divisions of SK NACE were used for the proper identification of industries. The location quotient served as a tool for the spatial concentration of employment in the Banská Bystrica region, the threshold value for the selection of cluster candidates was set to 2. The shift–share analysis was used for the identification of long-term changes in employment, and 10% of the most dynamic industries were presented at the level of divisions once and then, at the level of sections of SK NACE. Forestry and logging, the manufacture of wood products and the manufacture of basic metals were confirmed by both methods as significant concentrations. The result partially corresponded with the previously active and currently inactive cluster in Banská Bystrica, which was focused on mechanical engineering, still significant when considering numbers of companies and employees as well as sales. Forestry was the most concentrated industry, while the wholesale and retail trades were the most dynamic. Forestry, logging and manufacture of wood products might be strongly interlinked with the current entrepreneurial and social strategy of self-governing regions that is still at the stage of potential cluster identification and fitting to its priorities. The article assumed basic quantitative methods utilised for the identification of prospective clusters. It confirmed the practicality of their application, the gravity of data processing and also certain possible limitations due to the extraordinary focus on the employment concentration. According to the analysis and gained results, the former cluster in the Banská Bystrica region was confirmed as the potentially significant actor in the regional policy (although, currently, having no industrial or public interest) and the new cluster candidates were identified. Outcomes indicated the need to continue the research with a more detailed examination of qualitative aspects that could complete the effort by focusing on clusters not only having higher employment statistics but also the support from regional institutions, also reflecting the preferences of businesses.

This article proves non-ergonomic postures through virtual simulation and analysis of the work area. Blender software is used to correct non-ergonomic postures after modifying the welding area. The research was conducted finding bad postures in workers, including fatigue levels, through an ergonomic survey in combination with the use of the Likert scale. The Blender software results allowed us to find that the lack of early correction of these non-ergonomic postures can cause discomfort and pain, as well as injuries to the neck/nape, middle back, and lumbar back. Some recommendations were proposed to minimize discomfort and pain in the workers, for example, by reducing the angle of inclination for back and neck. The paper shows the utility of using software for digital anthropometry in an Industrial environment.

We address the issue of organizational psychology and the tipping point of professional identity by framing our comments around the recent failed attempt to change the name from the current Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). From the discussions on the SIOP Web site, it is clear that the professional identity and name change issues are intertwined. By applying an identity lens to the recent name change process, we develop a fifth identity scenario, identity refinement. Furthermore, we propose that because the name change is a vital aspect of the identity crystallization, rather than being merely a matter to be voted on, it should be framed as a major change initiative, and adopting a structuration theory approach (Giddens, 1984; Hotho, 2008) in this regard would be most beneficial.

Resumen
Purpose Industrial doctorates have arisen in recent decades as a new form of doctoral education which has the potential to innovate the curriculum, among other things. Such programmes run in a number of countries including Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia or Italy. In Portugal, industrial doctorates are very recent. The purpose of this paper is to understand whether Portuguese industrial doctorates distinguish themselves through collaboration with industry, specifically in curriculum development and delivery, or if they replicate the traditional doctorates under a new name. Design/methodology/approach Data from self-assessment reports of existing programmes submitted to the Portuguese accreditation agency and interviews with programme leaders were analysed. Findings The findings suggest that despite the fact that there is space for improvement in the collaboration in curriculum development and delivery, this is nonetheless a dimension which differentiates industrial doctorates. Industrial doctorates can, therefore, be “judged by their cover” because they are indeed a new category of doctoral degrees. Originality/value Although circumscribed to the Portuguese context and focussed on a particular aspect of university–industry collaboration, the paper contributes to further knowledge on industrial doctorates, a topic on which research is still scarce.
