Dermestes peruvianus Laporte é uma espécie com registros na América do Sul para Peru, Bolívia, Chile, Argentina e Brasil (região Sudeste). Durante um levantamento da entomofauna associada a carcaças de porcos em uma área de Caatinga, em São José dos Cordeiros, Paraíba, Brasil (7°28’19’’S; 36°53’40”W), nos meses de outubro de 2010 e fevereiro de 2011 foram coletados três espécimes de D. peruvianus, sendo o primeiro registro da espécie para o Nordeste do Brasil.

Resumen
This paper reports the first record of Astrocyclus caecilia for northeastern Brazil and Astrophyton muricatum for the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The studied specimens were captured accidentally by a fisherman using a fishing rod at a depth below 100 m over the continental shelf of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Such accidental captures stress our meager knowledge on our fauna from the outer margin of the continental shelf in northeastern Brazil. With these records we fill a gap in the known distribution of those species.

ABSTRACT: The epidemiological, clinical and pathological aspects of cutaneous pythiosis occurring in cattle from three farms in the Northeastern of Brazil are described. A biopsy of the lesions of one bovine from each farm was performed. In two cases, the affected cattle had contact with water accumulated in dams during the dry season in the semiarid region. Another case occurred in the coastal tropical region in cattle grazing around irrigation channels. Ten possible cases of tropical spastic paraparesis (TSP) in Northeastern Brazil (Ceará) are presented. They show the typical symptoms and signs of TSP consisting of weakness of the lower limbs, spastic gait, hiperreflexia, bladder dysfunction and variable signs of posterior columns impairment. The laboratory examinations excluded other compressive, infective, degenerative or demyelinating lesions of their spinal cord. Thirty four genera and 215 species of Myxomycetes are present in northeastern Brazil, covering 83 % of families, all subclasses and orders recognized for these microorganisms. New records and notes on the distribution of the family Baetidae are presented. The following genera are reported for this region: Americabaetis, Apobaetis, Aturbina, Baetodes, Callibaetis, Camelobaetidius, Cloeodes, Cryptonympha, Guajirolus, Paracloeodes, Rivudiva, Spiritiops, Waltzoyphius and Zelusia. With the results of the present study, the Northeast Region of Brazil ceases to be one of Brazil’s five geographic regions with the least-known Baetidae fauna to become the region with the second highest number of known species in the family, increasing the number from 15 to 36 species.

<i>Alterosa</i> Blahnik 2005 contains 35 described species distributed in southern and southeastern Brazil. Three new species of <i>Alterosa</i> from northeastern Brazil are described and illustrated, <i>Alterosa</i> <i>amadoi</i> sp. n., <i>A. castroalvesi</i> sp. n. and <i>A. caymmii</i> sp. n., the first records of the genus from northeastern Brazil. The diversity of the Elampini cuckoo wasps in northeastern Brazil is reviewed. Three new species are described: Hedychrum oxente Lucena &amp; Zanella sp. nov., Holopyga lunae Lucena sp. nov., and Muesebeckidium clemensi Lucena &amp; Zanella sp. nov. A lectotype is designated for Holopyga piliventris Ducke, 1907 and herein illustrated. Cariocamyia maculosa Snyder, é um Muscidae com registros para a Colômbia e Brasil (regiões Sul, Sudeste e Centro-Oeste). Em um levantamento de dípteros saprófagos na cidade de Feira de Santana no estado da Bahia com iscas de origem orgânico animal em putrefação, foram coletados 46 espécimes de C. maculosa. Esse é o primeiro registro da espécie para a Bahia e Nordeste do Brasil. Apesar de C. maculosa ter sido encontrada em áreas urbanas e em material orgânico animal em putrefação sua antropização e importância forense não foram citadas na literatura especializada, sendo necessários mais estudos
