This diploma thesis tries to give an overview of the outsourcing questions. The aim of the work is primarily to gain insight into the experience of the private sector with the outsourcing in the Czech Republic, and describe the methods of evaluation of the outsourcing effectiveness, which serve as a basis for deciding on the use of outsourcing in enterprises. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the basic concepts and importance of outsourcing, opportunities and risks of outsourcing and the reasons for the use of this tool. To gain practical experience of Czech firms with the outsourcing there have been made the research by means of the questionnaires. Obtained and processed data are listed in the practical part of this work. The experience with outsourcing abroad are described as a comprehensive knowledge of experts dealing with the issue of outsourcing. The part of the work is a comparison of the experience of the private sector with the outsourcing in the Czech Republic and abroad. At the conclusion of the work there is a summary of the most important observed results of this research and knowledge.

<p>Den ökade konkurrensen gör att det blir viktigare för företagen att effektivisera och speciali-sera sin verksamhet för att skaffa sig fördelar mot konkurrenter och för att överleva på en allt hårdare och mer globaliserad marknad. Att lägga in ett värde utöver produktens fysiska attri-but kan göra att man skiljer sig från konkurrenterna. Man talar om att leverera abstrakta vär-den snarare än enbart fysiska produkter.</p><p>Uppsatsens syfte är att, genom studier av fyra företag, analysera och utvärdera vad företagen gör för att fortsätta skapa mervärde när de outsourcar en del i produktionen. Vi valde att göra en kvalitativ studie med en deduktiv ansats. Teorierna vi har valt behandlar skapande av mer-värde och outsourcing.</p><p>I undersökningen kom det fram att företagen, i jämförelse med teorin, gör det som krävs för att bibehålla mervärdet vid outsourcing.</p><p>Undersökningens slutsats blev bland annat att faktorer som att inte lägga ut sin kärnverksam-het och att ha rätt relation till sina leverantörer är relevanta för att fortsätta skapa mervärde vid outsourcing.</p>

IT-outsourcing blir bara mer vanligt och därmed blir det även mer nödvändigt att uppmärksamma de risker som kan uppstå i samband med outsourcing. Denna studie identifierar olika risker med IT-outsourcing och applicerar dessa i en kvalitativ undersökningsform för att ta reda på riskmedvetenheten hos småföretag i Göteborg. Studien har påvisat att det inte finns några genomträngande drag gällande om småföretag har bra eller dålig riskmedvetenhet. Det studien har påvisat är att det är väldigt blandat och att företagen i många fall är väldigt spridda kring vetskap av de olika riskerna som behandlas i denna studie. Denna studie bidrar även med en lista med punkter som är viktiga att tänka på vid IT-outsourcing och denna lista baseras på vad som framträdde som bristande hos vissa företag vid deras riskmedvetenhet.

This work contributes to the theme of ICT outsourcing to PRC. It brings main themes of contemporal chinese economy and society which can enter outsourcing relation and influence it positively or negatively. These complex themes are presented with cultural, socioeconomic and historic relations. Thereof brings the framework for outsourcing to PRC. Themes, problems and opportunities of ICT outsourcing to PRC are based in research of international and local literature as well as own research in enterprise practice. First part of the work deals with term definition and description of ICT market in China. It brings the goal of this work, specify structure, and mentions important information regarding transcription of chinese characters in roman alphabet. Second part specify drivers and risks of outsourcing relations to PRC according to contemporal theories of respected academic authorities. It localise these theories to chinese reality based on statistical reading of international institutions. Third and fourth part deals with problematic of outsourcing relations based on relation lifecycle and case study. He lifecycle comes from MMDIS methodics and is supplemented with problems defined by international literature research. Case study is based on qualitative research and questioning of HP Enterprise Services employees. This part brings new views not included in literature and enrich this work. Fifth part deals with description of typical outsourcing relations. It assess it's suitability for outsourcing to PRC. Assessment is based on the facts and information in previous parts. The final part brings the framework for ICT outsourcing to PRC. It respect facts mentioned in previous parts. Based on that it defines the procedure, roles and documents which are suitable during outsourcing process.

<p>Denna studie behandlar de två koncepten outsourcing och business process outsourcing samt möjligheter och risker med nämnda koncept. Genom studier av ämnena business process outsourcing samt traditionell outsourcing har författarna påträffat sådan information som indikerar och tydliggör sådant som i litteraturen uppfattas som centralt då det kommer till möjligheter och risker då med de båda koncepten.</p><p>Syftet med studien är att beskriva dessa koncept och jämföra dess risker och möjligheter. Någon förförståelse av det studerade området har inte författarna. Med anledning av att leverantörerna av ovanstående tjänster inte haft möjlighet att delge författarna vilka deras kunder är har studien begränsats till skriven litteratur samt leverantörernas uppfattning om risker och möjligheter med dessa tjänster. Studien är utformad dels med en deduktiv metod vilket inneburit litteraturstudier, samt med en kvalitativ metod som inneburit tre djupintervjuer.</p><p>Genom att studera outsourcing- och BPO-branschen har författarna kommit fram till tre respondenter vilka anses representativa och väl anpassade för studien, då dessa levererar båda ovan nämnda former av tjänster. Arbetets teoridel är strukturerad på ett tydligt sätt som belyser risker och möjligheter med de båda koncepten, samt en kortare förklaring av faktorer som påverkar valet om att köpa in dessa tjänster eller ej. I empirin ställs frågor baserade på vad teorin menar är risker och möjligheter med de båda koncepten. Här redovisas också de svar författarna erhållit från respondenterna.</p><p>Då det gäller att jämföra de båda koncepten är slutsatsen att det kan göras på två olika sätt. Delvis genom att jämföra riskerna och möjligheterna och dels genom att jämföra strukturen på de olika koncepten. Studiens slutsats är att riskerna och möjligheterna med de båda koncepten liknar varandra och flertalet av de identifierade är helt identiska.</p>

I och med att marknaden blir mer och mer global genereras nya sorters problem. Allt fler företag väljer att outsourca delar av sin produktion, ofta till låglöneländer där arbetsförhållandena kan vara horribla. Detta ställer stora krav på att företag tar ansvar för sin verksamhet. Syftet med rapporten är därför att undersöka vilka utmaningar inom hållbarheten som outsourcing av produktion medför och hur dessa kan hanteras. För att analysera ämnet genomförs en litteraturstudie där relevant information inhämtas samt en fallstudie bestående av intervjuer hos ett stort industriföretag med komplex outsourcing. Resultatet av fallstudien visar att företaget arbetar mycket förebyggande för att undvika hållbarhetsproblem. Det handlar om att analysera risker, genomföra regelbundna kontroller och samarbeta med leverantörerna, och om det är möjligt försöka lösa de problem som uppstår genom kommunikation eller påtryckningar tillsammans med andra partner hos leverantören. Det är viktigt för företagen som outsourcar att ha klara riktlinjer och strategier för hur problem kan förebyggas och hanteras. Det är dock ingen enkel uppgift och många gånger finns det inte någon generell lösning. Hanteringen måste oftast anpassas till det specifika fallet. Den viktigaste slutsatsen är att ta itu med problemen istället för att skicka dem vidare och se lösningen som en investering och ej enbart en kostnad.<br>As the market becomes increasingly more global it generates new kinds of problems. More and more companies choose to outsource parts of their production, often to low-wage countries where working conditions can be unbearable. This sets great demands on companies to take responsibility for their activities. The purpose of this report is to examine the challenges of sustainability as the outsourcing of production entails and how these can be managed. In order to analyze the subject a literature review is conducted where the relevant information is obtained and a case study consisting of interviews with a major industrial company with complex outsourcing. The result of the case study shows that the company is working preventative to avoid sustainability problems. This involves analyzing risks, carrying out regular inspections and cooperating with suppliers, and if possible, trying to solve the problems by using communication or pressure together with other partners at the supplier. It is important for outsourcing companies to have clear guidelines and strategies on how problems can be prevented and managed. However, it is not an easy task and in many cases there is no general solution. The management must often be adapted to the specific case. The main conclusion is to deal with the problems instead of passing them on and to see the solution as an investment and not just a cost.

Syfte: Tidigare forskning har visat att det finns ekonomiska, sociologiska och strategiska faktorer som kan vara motiv till outsourcing. Vidare menar forskningen att det finns begränsat med studier som fokuserat på vilka strategiska faktorer små och medelstora företag ser som motiv till outsourcing. Därför syftar denna studie till att skapa förståelse för vilka strategiska faktorer som småföretag ser som motiv för outsourcing av ekonomifunktionen samt vilken betydelse de olika motiven har. Metod: Studien utgår från ett socialkonstruktivistiskt och ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv. Vidare bygger studien på en kvalitativ forskningsstrategi och abduktiv ansats. Den teoretiska referensramen bygger på tidigare forskning och det empiriska materialet har samlats in genom tio semi-strukturerade intervjuer med respondenter från olika företag. Materialet har sedan bearbetats och analyserats för att till sist presentera ett bidrag Resultat & slutsats: Studiens resultat visar på både likheter och skillnader mot tidigare forskning. Samtliga strategiska faktorer som presenterades i det teoretiska avsnittet bekräftades som motiv till outsourcing av respondenterna i den empiriska delen. Vad som skiljer empirin mot den befintliga teorin är rangordningen över vilken faktor som anses vara det starkaste motivet till outsourcing. Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Då respondenternas svar tydligt kategoriserades utifrån vilken position respondenterna hade på företagen, anser vi att det hade varit intressant att undersöka de olika kategorierna var för sig. Ett annat förslag till vidare forskning är att dela upp och studera de olika delarna av ekonomifunktionen var för sig, då vi kunde urskilja tydliga skillnader mellan respondenternas åsikter beroende på vilken del av ekonomifunktionen de outsourcade. Uppsatsens bidrag: Studien har lämnat ett teoretiskt bidrag i den mening att resultatet från empirin skiljer sig till viss del från tidigare forskning. Studien har även lett till ett praktiskt bidrag som leverantörer av redovisningstjänster kan ha användning av i den dagliga verksamheten.<br>Aim: Prior research has shown that there are economic, sociological and strategic factors that affect the decision of outsourcing in companies. Research has mainly focused on outsourcing in big enterprises, why researchers asks for more studies focusing on small and medium enterprises. Therefore, the aim for this study is to provide understanding of which strategic factors small enterprises sees as motives for outsourcing and what importance the different factors have. Method: The study is based on a social constructive and hermeneutic perspective. Further the study has taken a qualitative research strategy and an abductive research approach. The theoretical framework is built on prior research and the empirical data has been collected by ten semi-structured interviews with respondents from different enterprises. The material has been processed and analyzed to present a contribution. Result & Conclusions: Study results show both similarities and differences with previous research. All strategic factors presented in the theoretical section were confirmed as the motives for outsourcing by the respondents in the empirical part. What distinguishes the empirical data from the existing theory is the rank of the factor that is considered the strongest motive for outsourcing. Suggestions for future research: Given that the respondents' answers clearly were categorized on the basis of the position of the respondents had on businesses, we believe it would have been interesting to examine the different categories separately. Another suggestion for further research is to divide and study the various components of the finance function separately, this because we could discern clear differences between respondents' opinions depending on which part of the finance function outsourced. Contribution of the thesis: The study has provided a theoretical contribution in the sense that the results from the empirical data differs somewhat from earlier research. The study has also led to a practical contribution that suppliers of accounting services could use in daily operations.

This thesis deals with the problems of using outsourcing in software development for financial institutions. The thesis is divided into two parts -- theoretical issues and practical issues. The theoretical section is comprised of the first three chapters with the first describing the process of software development -- the life cycle of software, the prominent disciplines and roles involved in software development, the methods of software development and IT Governance. The second chapter defines the specifics which influence the method which is used in software development for financial institutions. The last chapter of the theoretical section deals with the concept of outsourcing - here is the definition of the term, its history, the reasons the financial sector uses outsourcing for software development and the risks thereby incurred. In addition to this, the advantages and limitations of individual models of outsourcing are also described namely regarding geography and the service o be provided. The practical section is comprised of the survey the aim of which was to acquire an insight into the issues of using outsourcing both from the point of view of the domestic financial sector as the client and from the point of view of the IT service provider. The surveys are included with this thesis.

Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur de svenska företagens outsourcing av arbetsintensiv tillverkning till Kina har påverkats av industrialiseringsprocessen i landet. Studien ämnar även att klargöra vilka hinder och möjligheter som företagen ser för deras framtida närvaro på den kinesiska marknaden. Metod: Studien har genomförts med tillämpningen av en kvalitativ undersökningsmetod och ett abduktivt förhållningssätt. Tillvägagångssättet för genomförandet av studien har varit via intervjuer genom en multipel fallstudie med ett bekvämlighetsurval. Både primär- och sekundärdata har legat till grund för den analytiska processen. Slutsats: Slutsatsen som härleds ur studien är att samtliga intervjuade företag inte tyckte att den ökade industrialiseringen i Kina har påverkat deras outsourcingverksamhet i större utsträckning. Trots stigande tillverkningskostnader är företagen i dagsläget fast beslutna att fortfarande låta tillverkningen vara kvar i Kina. Respondenterna har inte heller upplevt att produktiviteten, relativt till ökning av tillverkningskostnaderna, inte har hämmats utan snarare tvärtom. Samtliga intervjuade företag har som avsikt att rikta sin försäljning till den kinesiska marknaden men upplever att det i dagsläget är för svårt på grund av den starka inhemska konkurrensen.

<p><strong>Syfte: </strong>Syftet med detta examensarbete är att genom en jämförelse mellan det köpande och det säljande företaget belysa vilka faktorer som kan bidra till att outsourcing av redovisningsfunktionen blir framgångsrikt.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Metod: </strong>I denna uppsats har vi använt oss av en kvalitativ undersökningsmetod och ett hermeneutisk synsätt. Detta eftersom vi har gjort några intervjuer och inga data har samlats in som kan göras mätbara. Vår intervjumetod var ostrukturerad då de intervjuade fick chansen att styra hur intervjuerna artade sig och en öppen dialog fördes. En undersökning kan ha olika avsikter, vi använde oss av de beskrivande och förstårliga. Då syftet med examensarbetet gick ut på att belysa vilka faktorer som kan bidra till att outsourcing av redovisningsfunktionen blir framgångsrik.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Resultat & Slutsats:</strong> Under uppsatsens gång har vi kommit fram till att vi anser att företag borde outsourca sin redovisningsfunktion, då företag ska göra det de är bäst på. Kunskapen hos de säljande företagen är vad som gör outsourcingen framgångsrik. Med andra ord ska man lägga ner all sin tid och kraft på sin kärnverksamhet. I och med detta blir man ett konkurrenskraftigare företag, vilket leder till att fler marknadsandelar tas på marknaden.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Förslag till fortsatt forskning:</strong> Våra rekommendationer för fortsatta studier är att det skulle vara intressant att göra en jämförelse mellan större och mindre företag. Att se vilka för- och nackdelar som då dyker upp. Vilka för- och nackdelar ser de större företagen med att outsourca fullständigt eller partiellt?</p><p> </p><p><strong>Uppsatsens bidrag:</strong> Denna uppsats ska ge en större förståelse för företags kärnverksamhet och dess betydelse för företaget. En förståelse ska uppnås för varför företag väljer att outsourca sin redovisningsfunktion.</p><br><p><strong>Aim: </strong>The aim with this essay is to make a comparison between the buying company and the selling company. When we have done this, we will illustrate the factors that can contribute that outsourcing by the companies accounting will be successful.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Method:</strong> In this paper we have used a qualitative method of research with a hermeneutic approch. This because we have done interviews and no measurable data has been collected. Our method of interview was unstructured, this because the people that we interviewed should have a change to influence the interview. A research can have different purpose, we used the describing and the understandable methods.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Result & conclusions:</strong> We have found that companies should use outsourcing, because they shall do what they are suppose to do. It is the knowledge in the selling companies that make the outsourcing succesful. With other words, companies shall put all their energy and time in their core activity. In this way, companies will be very competitive and they will make more market shares.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Suggestions for future research:</strong> Our suggestions for future research are to make a comparison between bigger and smaller companies. To see which advantages and disadvantages that will appear.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Contribution of the thesis:</strong> This essay will give a bigger understanding for the company’s core activity, and an understanding shall accomplish why companies choose to outsource their accounting.</p>

Vi kommer även att ta upp mindre lyckade outsourcingprojekt och belysa orsakerna till dessa.</p><p>Metod: Vi har samlat in information genom litteratur, artiklar, teorier, samt empirisk fakta genom intervjuer med personer på företag som har en relation till outsourcing. </p><p>Avgränsningar: På grund av tidsbrist har vi begränsat oss till att endast göra intervjuer i sex företag med outsourcing efter svenska förhållanden. </p><p>Resultat och slutsats: Vi har kommit fram till att outsourcing i de allra flesta fall är framgångsrikt. För att lyckas krävs dock att man tar hänsyn till vissa viktiga kriterier, såsom bra kommunikation, hög kompetens och omfattande förberedelser. </p>

Bakgrunden till outsourcing är att företag insåg fördelen med att använda sig av externa specialister inom de områden som företagen inte själva hade kompetenser och resurser inom. Ekonomifunktionen ses inte som en kärnfunktion som behöver skötas i företaget, utan den kan läggas ut på ett annat företag. Syfte: Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka varför företag väljer att outsourca hela eller delar av ekonomifunktionen samt hur det är möjligt att fortfarande ha kontroll över företagets ekonomifunktion och verksamhet. Metod: Vi har analyserat vilka orsaker som ligger bakom varför företag väljer att outsourca eller insourca hela eller delar av ekonomifunktionen genom att genomföra en kvalitativ studie. I studien har vi intervjuat fem representanter från fem olika företag inom olika branscher. Slutsatser: Företag outsourcar eller insourcar främst för att få tillgång till specifik kompetens som saknas i företaget. En annan orsak som framkommit i undersökningen är att företag väljer att lägga ut hela eller delar av ekonomifunktionen för att få loss tid till annat. Anledningen till att vissa företag väljer att outsourca medan andra väljer att insourca beror oftast på företagens storlek och situation men även teknik och mjukvara har betydelse. Huruvida företag förlorar kontroll över ekonomifunktionen och verksamheten eller inte har att göra med hur avtalen är utformade och företagens intresse för ekonomin.

Syfte – Examensarbetets syfte är att skapa förståelse kring ett outsourcingbeslut genom att utveckla en beslutsmodell för outsourcing. För att uppnå syftet ska följande frågeställningar besvaras: Vilka faktorer bör påverka ett outsourcingbeslut? Vilka kostnader bör analyseras för att ett outsourcingbeslut ska bli väl avvägt? Vilka komponenter bör ingå i en beslutsmodell för outsourcing? Metod – Examensarbetet bygger på en analytisk konceptuell studie med ett deduktiv och induktiv förhållningssätt, där påverkansfaktorer togs fram genom litteraturstudier. Jämförelser och analyser av redan befintliga teorier gjordes för att identifiera påverkansfaktorer, utifrån dessa faktorer skapades en beslutsmodell för outsourcing. Resultat – Resultatet från studien visar att det finns ett flertal olika faktorer som påverkar ett outsourcingbeslut och kan sammanfattningsvis placeras som påverkansfaktorer, strategiska- och konkurrensfaktorer samt kostnadsfaktorer. Den utvecklade beslutsmodellen för outsourcing består av sju steg där varje steg innefattar olika analyser och beslut, de sju stegen baseras på de faktorer som bör påverkas vid outsourcing. Förslag till fortsatta studier – För att utveckla beslutsmodellen skulle fler teorier och faktorer som möjligen kan beröras i samband med outsourcing adderas. En ytterligare studie skulle kunna vara att utveckla ett verktyg där organisationen kan gradera hur organisationen förhåller sig till de faktorer som påverkas vid ett outsourcingbeslut och därmed utöka beslutsunderlaget. Praktiska konsekvenser – För att underlätta för beslutsfattaren och få en helhetsbild över faktorer och kostnader som påverkas vid outsourcing kan beslutsmodellen användas. Originalitet – Det finns enligt författarnas vetskap ingen fullständig beslutsmodell som belyser alla faktorer som kan påverkas vid ett outsourcingbeslut.<br>Purpose – The purpose of the thesis is to create understanding of the outsourcing decision making by developing a decision model for outsourcing. To achieve this, the following questions are answered: What factors should influence the outsourcing decision? What costs should be analyzed so that an outsourcing decision should be balanced? What components should be included in a decision model for outsourcing? Method – The thesis is based on an analytical conceptual study with a deductive and inductive approach, where the influencing factors was generated through literature reviews. Comparison and analysis of existing theories were made to identify the influencing factors, based on the generated influencing factors a decision model for outsourcing was created. Findings – Results from the study shows that there are several factors that influence the outsourcing decision and can in summary be positioned as strategic and competitive factors and cost factors. The developed decision model for outsourcing consists of seven steps, where each step includes various analyzes and decisions, the seven steps are based on the factors that should be affected by outsourcing. Research limitations/implications – The results in this thesis are based only on theory. The model can still be generalized by being adaptable for different Organization. Practical implications – Decision model can be used to aid and support in an outsourcing decision. To facilitate the decision-maker and get an overview of the factors and costs that are affected by the outsourcing decision model can be used. With the decision model, the organization can analyze factors and costs to obtain a comprehensive decision-making. Originality – Since many organizations are making outsourcing decision wrongly without taking into account all the factors affected by the outsourcing decision. external service providers. It is a relatively new concept in the South African scenario and
there are many risks associated with the process that can cause a company to loose large
amounts of money if outsourcing is not done right. The study project will aim to examine the
most important aspects regarding IT outsourcing in order to reduce the risks associated with
the process.
The definition of IT outsourcing is the practice of transferring an organisation's computer
centre operations, telecommunications networks, or applications development to external
vendors of these services. There are different variations of outsourcing applicable to IT, for
example: contracting out, outsourcing, in sourcing and co-sourcing. Companies have different
reasons for outsourcing and the risks associated with the process have to be taken into account
when embarking on an outsourcing initiative.
With IT outsourcing there are different services that can be outsourced, for example:
mainframe services, desktop computer services, security services and different application
services. The decision to outsource a specific area of IT is a strategic issue and the risks,
costs, and selection of the service provider are all very important factors to take into account.
One of the main factors that any company should take into account when embarking on a big
initiative is of course costs. The aim is the reduction of costs of the specific outsourced area.
Therefore the necessary measures need to be in place to measure costs before and after the
outsourcing process. It could happen that the outsourcing process do not provide the reduced
cost benefits envisaged initially. This could be due to hidden costs that were not taken into
account when the outsourcing initiative was planned.
Normally the outsourcing process is driven by a structured project and numerous important
factors need to be taken into account when managing the whole process. The factors include:
the vendor evaluation process, setup of the service level agreement, the request for proposal,
relationship with the supplier, communication of the whole process inside the company, the
contract between the two parties, and the transition period with the measuring of results
thereafter. The current IT skills shortage in South Africa is causing companies to rethink their IT
strategies and make use of external service providers to supply them with the necessary skills
to get the job done. The research illustrates this fact that IT consulting has one of the highest
adoption rates currently and with regard to the future. Full blown outsourcing is still a
relatively new concept in South Africa and companies will only adopt the concept as soon as
it has proved to be successful and cost effective.
As mentioned it is important that a structured methodology should be used to drive an
outsourcing process. It is important that the approach is structured around proven project
management principles with the correct measures in place to support and sustain the whole
process.
Outsourcing of IT services is a strategic decision that a company must take and the risks
associated with the process mean that it must be planned and executed very carefully.
Outsourcing has various risks associated with it like the appointment of the wrong service
provider. However, the outsourcing process can also have its merits and the most important of
these are most probably lower costs, new IT skills, and better service. The shortage of IT
skills in South Africa makes the idea of outsourcing more and more attractive because of the
fact that companies can now "buy" the skills without having to commit to long term
permanent employment contracts for permanent staff.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die navorsingsverslag handel oor die konsep van uitkontraktering van
inligtingstegnologie(IT) dienste aan eksterne diensverskaffers. Aangesien dit 'n relatiewe
nuwe tendens in Suid Afrika se IT bedryf is, en die risiko bestaan dat 'n maatskappy groot
geldelike verliese kan ly indien dit nie reg aangepak word nie, word daar gepoog om na die
belangrikste aspekte van uitkontraktering te kyk om die risikos daaraan verbonde so laag as
moontlik te hou.
Die definisie van IT uitkontraktering is die oordrag van 'n organisasie se rekenaar sentrum
operasies, telekommunikasie netwerk, of toepassing ontwikkeling na 'n eksterne verskaffer
van hierdie dienste. Daar is verskillende variasies van uitkontraktering van toepassing op IT
soos byvoorbeeld: uitkontraktering, inkontraktering, en gesamentlike kontraktering.
Maatskappye het verskillende redes om 'n diens uit te kontrakteer en die risikos verbonde aan
die proses moet sorgvuldig in gedagte gehou word wanneer die uitkontrakteringsproses
aangepak word.
Met IT uitkontraktering is daar verskillende dienste wat uitgekontrakteer kan word soos
byvoorbeeld: hoofraam dienste, persoonlike rekenaar dienste, sekuriteitsdienste en verskeie
rekenaar applikasie dienste. Die besluit om 'n spesifieke area van IT uit te kontrakteer is 'n
strategiese kwessie vir die maatskappy en die risikos, kostes en keuse van eksterne
diensverskaffer is almal baie belangrike faktore wat in gedagte gehou moet word.
Een van die vernaamste faktore wat enige maatskappy in ag behoort te neem wanneer 'n groot
inisiatief aangepak word, is natuurlik kostes. Die doel van uitkontraktering is om die kostes
van die spesifieke area te verlaag. Daarom moet die nodige maatreëls in plek wees om die
kostes vooraf en na die uitkontrakteringsproses te meet. Die uitkontraktering inisiatief kan die
maatskappy egter baie duur te staan kom en glad nie die koste voordele bied wat aanvanklik
beplan is nie. Dit kan wees as gevolg van verskuilde kostes wat nie met die beplanning van
die proses in ag geneem is nie.
Gewoonlik word die uitkontrakteringsproses gedryf deur 'n gestruktureerde projek en
verskeie belangrike faktore moet in ag geneem word vir die hele proses. Die faktore sluit in:
die evaluasieproses om die regte diensverskaffer aan te stel, die opstel van die regte dokumentasie in terme van die diensvoorstel voorlegging, verhouding met die
diensverskaffer, die opstel van die diensvlak ooreenkoms, kommunikasie oor die hele proses
binne die maatskappy, die kontrak tussen die twee partye, oorgangstadium en die meting van
voordele daarna.
Die huidige tekort aan IT vaardighede in Suid Afrika veroorsaak dat maatskappye hul IT
strategie moet herdink en die opsie van eksterna diensverskaffers wat die nodige vaardighede
kan verskaf, oorweeg word. Die studie illustreer hierdie feit dat IT konsultasie een van die
hoogste vlakke van ingebruikneming tans en vir die toekoms het. Volledige IT funksie
uitkontraktering is nog 'n relatiewe nuwe konsep in Suid Afrika en maatskappye sal slegs die
idee aanneem sodra uitkontraktering as suksesvol en koste effektief bewys is.
Soos reeds genoem is dit belangrik dat 'n gestruktureerde metodologie gebruik word om 'n
uitkontrakteringsinisiatief te dryf. Dit is belangrik dat die aanslag geskoei is rondom bewese
projekbestuursbeginsels en dat die regte maatreëls getref is om die proses te ondersteun.
Uitkontraktering van IT dienste is 'n strategiese besluit wat 'n maatskappy moet neem. Die
risikos daaraan verbonde veroorsaak dat die beplanning en aanpak van die proses baie deeglik
en noukeurig gedoen moet word. Uitkontraktering het verskeie risikos soos om die verkeerde
eksterne diensverskaffer te kies, maar kan ook voordelig vir die maatskappy wees en die
grootste voordele wat 'n maatskappy kan verwag is verlaagde kostes en nuwe IT vaardighede.
Die probleem van 'n tekort aan goed opgeleide IT personeel in Suid Afrika maak die idee van

This master thesis deals with outsourcing in public sector specially focused on one type of public services. There are three main goals of this thesis: to describe outsourcing in public services, to determine methodology of evaluation forms of providing public services and as a case study to compare past and current form of providing public service called Publishing city hall magazine in Prague 7. Firstly, the thesis describes outsourcing in public sector in general, highlights current trends and future development of outsourcing. Secondly, the theoretical part determines evaluation criteria that are used in the practical part for comparison of the two forms of providing the above mentioned public service in Prague 7. Moreover, the criteria are applied to compare the same public service among 10 Prague districts. The result of the case study shows that the current form of publishing city hall magazine in Prague 7 is less expensive and the magazine has better quality than the previous one.

Sammanfattning Vi lever i en global värld där allt snabbare förändringar ställer allt större krav på företagens förmåga att anpassa sig till omvärlden. Ökade kund- och ägarkrav, snabbare konjunktursvängningar, den snabba teknologiska utvecklingen samt att företagen blir mer tjänsteorienterade innebär att företagen måste fokusera på det de är skickligast på och köpa resterande. Att outsourca handlar inte bara om att lämna bort en tjänst i företaget till en extern leverantör, utan till största delen om att prioritera det som är viktigast genom att fokusera på kärnverksamheten. Outsourcing kan vara allt från mindre tjänster till stora centrala delar inom företaget. Då verksamheter växer och blir allt mer komplexa, blir det svårare att hålla kvar all kunskap internt. Denna studie har till syfte att bringa klarhet i om företag begrundar den mänskliga faktorn och den kunskap de förfogar över vid outsourcing. Studien har även syftet att se hur företag hanterar den kunskap som frigörs i syfte att förflyttas. Detta har gjorts genom tre frågor: Vid planer om outsourcing, finns då den mänskliga faktorn och den kunskap de besitter med i planeringen? Hur hanteras den kunskap som frigörs i syfte att förflyttas i och med outsourcing av en tjänst? Hur arbetar företag med att bevara sin kärnkompetens då de använder sig av externa leverantörer? Studien utgår från de intervjuer som Ana Reljanovic´ har genomfört med två svenska företag och som jag sedan med hennes godkännande har studerat och analyserat mot litteratur inom området. Resultatet visar att det stora dragplåstret i outsourcing är tanken på att företagen kan spara pengar och öka sin effektivitet. Det har dock visat sig att det inte är fullt så enkelt när det handlar om människor och deras känslor. Studien har visat att kunskap är en viktig del i ett företag och det är en svår uppgift att ta tillvara på den med den ständigt globaliserande utvecklingen världen över och det har visat sig att företag många gånger gärna gömmer sig bakom orden ”detta är bäst för företaget” medan andra ser outsourcing som ett par nya glasögon som kan hjälpa dem i utvecklingen.

<p>Syfte: Som blivande fastighetsekonomer ville vi finna mer kunskap om ämnet outsourcing och om hur fastighetsföretagen tänker och agerar kring detta.</p><p>Outsourcing känns för oss verklighetsförankrat och inspirerande, och vi hoppas vår studie ska bidra med förståelse för vad som styr valet av outsourcing samt ge en inblick i hur dess framtid kan komma att se ut.</p><p>Metod: För att få en användbar teori i denna uppsats har vi undersökt litteratur om outsourcing och fastighetsförvaltning. Vår studie sträcker sig över Gävleborg och Dalarna. Vi har skickat ut en enkät om trenden för outsourcing till 85 företag och fått svar av 52. Utifrån dessa enkäter har vi sedan valt ut ett antal företag som använder sig av outsourcing och sedan intervjuat dem mer ingående.</p><p>Resultat & slutsats:</p><p>Outsourcing är vanligt förekommande bland fastighetsföretagen i Gävleborg och Dalarna. 89 % av de svarande företagen använder sig av outsourcing i någon form. Kostnadsminskning, ökad flexibilitet samt fokusering på kärnverksamheten är viktiga motiv. En faktor som påverkar valet av outsourcing är att företagen vill undvika för stora och kostsamma organisationer.</p><p>Förslag till fortsatt forskning:</p><p>Vi tror att fortsatt forskning, utifrån denna studie, skulle kunna ta upp fastighetsföretagens kunder och hur de ser på outsourcing och hur det påverkar deras upplevelse av företaget i fråga. Vår studie kan också användas som jämförelsepunkt för att studera trenden för outsourcing och dess eventuella upp- eller nedgång i framtiden.</p><p>Uppsatsens bidrag:</p><p>Vi hoppas att vår studie ska bidra med kunskap om ämnet outsourcing och ge företagen i regionen en förståelse för hur andra företag ser på ämnet och hur de tror att framtiden kommer att utvecklas. Då outsourcing kan vara en stor del i ett företag och innebära stora beslut har vi också valt att visa på de faktorer som påverkar valet av outsourcing i fastighetsförvaltning.</p><br><p>Aim: As proposed real estate economists, we wanted to find more knowledge about outsourcing and about how the real estate companies intend and acts around this. Outsourcing feels reality anchored and inspiring, and we hope our study will contribute with understanding what governs the choice of outsourcing and give an insight in how the future will be.</p><p>Method: In order to find an applicable theory in this essay we have examined literature about outsourcing and real estate administration. Our study stretches over the area of Gävleborg and Dalarna. We have sent out a questionnaire about the trend for outsourcing to 85 companies and got replies of 52. On the basis of these questionnaires, we have chosen a number of companies that use outsourcing and interviewed them in more detail.</p><p>Result & Conclusions:</p><p>Outsourcing is commonly occurring among real estate companies in Gävleborg and Dalarna. 89% of the replying companies use outsourcing in some way. Cost reduction, increased flexibility and focus on the core activity are important reasons. A factor that influences the choice of outsourcing is that the companies want to avoid big and expensive organizations.</p><p>Suggestions for future research:</p><p>We believe that continued research, on the basis of this study, could include the customers of the real estate companies and their perspective on outsourcing and how outsourcing influences their experience of the company in question. Our study can also be used as comparison point to study the trend for outsourcing and its possible progress or decline.</p><p>Contribution of the thesis:</p><p>We hope that our study will contribute with knowledge about outsourcing and to give the companies in the region an understanding for how other companies see on the matter and how they believe that the future will be developed. Because outsourcing can be a big part in a company and involve big decisions we also pointing on the factors that influence the choice of outsourcing in real estate administration.</p>

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att belysa en ökad förståelse för hur relationen mellan leverantör och klient fungerar vid outsourcing av ekonomifunktionen. Detta med avseende på hur kommunikation och tillit påverkar relationen. Metod: Studien har utgått från ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv med en socialkonstruktivistisk art. Det teoretiska och empiriska materialet har rekapitulerats med deduktivt tillvägagångssätt och en fallstudie med kvalitativ forskningsdesign genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Studiens datainsamling har sedan ställts mot den teoretiska referensramen i en analys. Resultat & slutsats: Studien tyder på att kommunikation och tillit är två viktiga komponenter för att outsourcingrelationen ska utvecklas och hålla. Tilliten är kunskapsbaserad och baseras på god prestation och indikerar ha låg tolerans mot misskötsamhet och misstag, då den omedelbart övergår till misstro och påverkar relationen negativt. Relationens kommunikationsfrekvens är baserad på graden av tillit och påverkar relationens samarbete. Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Outsourcingrelationen går att studera utifrån flera perspektiv och denna studie har avgränsat sig till kommunikationen och tillitens påverkan av den. Ytterligare en avgränsning är att studien observerar SME-företag. Intressant vore att studera hur större företag hanterar och förhåller sig till misstag och konflikter i en outsourcingrelation. Uppsatsens bidrag: Studiens bidrag är att relationen är individuell och unik för varje outsourcingsamarbete. Personkemin är essentiell för att upprätthålla en fungerande relation på lång sikt och kan växa fram genom att leverantörerna visar genuint intresse för klienternas verksamheter och förstår den.<br>Aim: The study aims to provide a greater understanding of how the relationship between the vendor and client works when outsourcing the accounting function, with regards of how communication and trust affects the relationship. Method: The study was based on a hermeneutic perspective with a social constructive nature. The theoretical and empirical materials have both recapitulated through deductive approach and case studies with a qualitative research design and semi-structured interviews. The study’s data collection has subsequently been contrasted with the theoretical frame of reference in an analysis. Result & Conclusions: The study indicates that communication and trust are two significant components in order for the outsourcing relationship to progress and last. The trust is knowledge-based and is based upon good performance and has short tolerance against misconduct and mistakes, since it immediately goes on to mistrust and affects the relationship negatively. The frequency of the communication in the relationship is based on the degree of trust and affects the relationships interaction. Suggestions for future research: The outsourcing relationship can be studied from various perspectives and this study has defined the communication and the trusts affect on it. Additional definition to the study is that the study observes small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs). It would be interesting to research how major enterprises deal and relate to mistakes and conflicts in an outsourcing relationship. Contribution of the thesis: The contribution of the thesis shows that the outsourcing relationship is individual and unique for any outsourcing cooperation. The chemistry is essential to maintain an adequate relationship in the long run and can emerge by the vendors showing genuine interest in the clients business and by understanding it.

<p>Företag verksamma inom tillverkande industrin outsourcar i allt större grad. Outsourcing kan både ses som en trend och som ett sätt att söka profitera på en ökad globalisering. Outsourcing är dock förknippat både med ökade och minskade kostnader. För att företag skall lyckas skapa lönsamhet krävs det att de lyckas optimera nettonyttan av egna och andras aktiviteter. Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera hur outsourcing av industriell produktion påverkar företags värde och värdestruktur. Samt att studera huruvida outsourcing av industriell produktion, genom den förändrade värdestrukturen, påverkar ett företags kapitalstruktur och kapitalkostnad. För att uppfylla syftet har vi sökt belysa problematiken med outsourcing ur ett värde och kapitalkostnadsperspektiv. Detta genom att studera för ämnet relevant litteratur och forskning samt att genomföra en intervjuserie. Respondenterna till intervjuserien är valda efter sina befattningar och ämneskunskaper, för att söka belysa ämnet ur olika perspektiv. Studien har påvisat att outsourcing påverkar ett företages värde och värdestruktur. Värdet påverkas genom att outsourcing, genom avyttringar och eller uteblivna investeringar, minskar det risken i företaget. Förutsatt att företaget kan påvisa samma resultat som tidigare så kommer marknaden att värdera företaget högre än före outsourcingen. Värdestrukturen påverkas genom att företag som outsourcar tenderar att bli mer nätverksstrukturerade. Detta medför en förskjutning av värdet från fasta och eller finansiella tillgångar mot intellektuella. Företag kan genom att outsourca blir mer fokuserade kring sin kärnkompetens och ”core business”, vilket då bidrar till att öka företagens värdedensitet.</p>

É fundamental que as organizações evoluam e adoptem mecanismos que lhes permitam facilitar processos e gerir recursos de forma económica, obtendo o máximo de eficácia e eficiência. Esta investigação foca-se no outsourcing de serviços, especial no catering. Efectua-se uma análise comparativa dos valores referentes ao serviço de alimentação na Sede da Academia Militar, entre a Manutenção Militar e duas empresas de catering. Este trabalho estrutura-se em três partes fundamentais. Primeiramente efectua-se o enquadramento teórico em que se aborda o conceito do outsourcing e a sua aplicabilidade na Academia Militar.
Posteriormente, expõe-se o trabalho de campo, com uma análise e apresentação dos resultados obtidos durante as entrevistas, questionários e estudo de caso. Constat a-se que as pessoas se encontram satisfeitas com o serviço de catering na unidade analisada, tendo em conta as áreas relevantes apontadas pelos entrevistados.
Por fim, tece-se as considerações finais e linhas futuras de investigação, onde se verifica que o catering é uma ferramenta vantajosa para a Academia Militar. Este pode ser a resposta para alguns dos actuais problemas, pois permite uma redução de custos e um elevado grau de satisfação.<br>Abstract Every organization makes decisions and carries out tasks, which are intended to achieve certain objectives. It also manages resources which are increasingly scarce, so there must be an efficient use of them. It is essential that organizations evolve and adopt mechanisms in order to facilitate processes and the management of resources economically, achieving the maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
This research focuses on outsourcing services, particularly in catering. It was made a comparative analysis of the food service price on the Military Academy Headquarters, between the Manutenção Militar and two catering companies.
This work was structured into three main parts. Firstly, it was made a theoretical Framework, where the concept of outsourcing is analyzed as well as its applicability to the Military Academy.
It is then exposed the field work, with an analysis and presentation of results obtained during the interviews, questionnaires and case study. It was found that the people are satisfied with the catering service in the analyzed unit, taking into account the relevant areas identified by the interviewees.
Finally, the final considerations and future lines of research were advanced. It w as found that catering is an advantageous tool for the Military Academy. This may be the answer to some of the problems that take place nowadays, because it allows a reduction in costs and a high degree of satisfaction.

Etter Berlinmurens fall har de økonomiske rammene til Forsvaret vært synkende. Forsvarets krigsstruktur har under den samme tid blitt drastisk redusert. Fredsstrukturen med støttefunksjonene(logistikk mm) er ikke på samme måte berørt. Fredsstrukturen må tilpasses(skreddersys) til de oppgaver som Forsvaret har og framtidig vil ha. Dette vil medføre at vi må ha en mer fleksibel, effektiv og mindre organisasjon på drifts og produksjonssiden.Mange bedrifter har de siste 10-15 årene valgt å bruke outsourcing som et verktøy for å effektivisere og kostnadsredusere. Vellykkede outsourcing/integrasjonsprosesser kan gi høyere fleksibilitet og fordelen at man kan fokusere mer på kjernevirksomheten og ledelsen av denne. Hensikten med denne studien er å diskutere om Forsvaret kan effektiviseres gjennom outsourcing. Videre er ambisjonen å vurdere forutsetninger for outsourcing og hvordan og på hvilken områder man kan implementere outsourcing i Forsvaret.Med det store potensialet man har i Forsvaret for effektivisering kan outsourcing være et godt virkemiddell for mer rasjonell drift og derved lavere kostnader som kan brukes på investeringssiden. To meet this challenge CHOD NO have to reduce the costs and improve the performance of its logistics(support) organization.The benefits of outsourcing are apparent every day in our national economy. Companies report that outsourcing could provide the desired benefits. Outsourcing enables companies and other organizations to focus on their core competencies and activities. The main intention of this study is to discuss if and how implementation of outsourcing can lower costs and provide more efficient support(logistics) to the Norwegian Armed Forces.The study discuss the problem through resource-based theory, and a make-or –buy perspectives model has been used and developed for analyses and conclutions(empirical versus theory- test).The study shows that the Norwegian Armed Forces have to prepare and analyse ”their” organization prior to any outsourcing activity. Outsourcing integration must also be well prepared and analysed. consider key IT outsourcing elements to provide the required IT outsourcing or similar services to
its customers to better fulfil its mandate as outlined in the SITA Act and other related legislation.
Design/methodology/approach: The information gathered from various literature sources was
analysed, evaluated and assessed to determine trends, lessons learnt and pitfalls of IT outsourcing,
and IT mergers and acquisitions to develop an IT outsourcing framework and approach.
Findings: The IT outsourcing framework for SITA consists of customer value drivers (motivating
factors), governance model, engagement and supplier management model, and business model as
the key IT outsourcing elements that SITA must consider to successfully provide the required IT
outsourcing or similar services to its customers to improve its credibility.
Research limitations/implications: To extend this research, more work is necessary to assess each
element of the framework to determine specific actions that must be taken to leverage on economies
of scale, improve productivity and IT capability within Government departments.
Practical implications: This framework is intended to provide SITA with guidelines and an
approach that may be used to successfully respond to the customers requests respond to the IT
operations of its customers or to collaborate with the customer in providing its IT outsourcing
services.
Originality/value: This research will contribute towards establishing the best practices for agencies
like SITA to successfully provide IT outsourcing services to Government.

This thesis is concerned with outsourcing the production of defence and military activities to private providers. Theoretical approaches to the issue are reviewed and found to make insufficiently specific predictions to be useful in assessing the scope for outsourcing. Instead four empirical analyses are undertaken using publicly available data. The first estimates the elasticity of substitution between military labour and capital. It builds on Ridge and Smith (1991), using data on military wages to allow a more flexible specification. It finds the elasticity likely to be some small positive number, much lower than previous estimates suggest. The second extends the framework to incorporate civilian labour as a third factor of production. It then estimates the elasticity of substitution between military and civilian labour. This elasticity is estimated to be close to zero, suggesting that there is little scope for military outsourcing beyond that which exists without reducing capabilities in some circumstances. The next approach assesses how far increases in the use of contracting-out and competitive procurement have yielded reductions in UK aggregate military expenditure. The best model suggests that increased outsourcing is associated with lower aggregate military spending in the long-run, but a number of issues arise which raise concerns about the validity of demand for military expenditure models. The final approach uses an original dataset on control of Ministry of Defence Private Finance Initiative projects to identify the key firms involved in the UK market for military outsourcing contracts, the structure of the industry and its impact on the scope of efficient outsourcing. Whilst there is currently scope for effective competition for contracts in most market segments, this competition is vulnerable to industry consolidation. The key firms involved do not financially outperform their peers in other markets.

This thesis examines the ways to support employees in an outsourcing project in order to achieve a satisfying situation for both the company and its staff. Outsourcing is commonly understood as shifting of certain operational activities previously accomplished using internal staff and resources to an internal or external third party. This kind of radical change induces often major impact on the company’s staff. Thus, the purpose of this work is to elucidate employees’ perspective and thus to enable managers to adapt their approach accordingly. At the beginning, the thesis offers a model for an outsourcing project taking into account the perspective of the employees. Based on this model, relevant aspects to successfully conduct an outsourcing initiative are considered. Furthermore, this work includes recommendations on how to adjust the highly acknowledged change management model by Kotter (1995) specifically to outsourcing initiatives in order to approach the desired win-win situation. Finally, the thesis provides a set of specific and prioritised measures that would help to lead employees through outsourcing and a transfer to an adjusted process model aimed for practitioners as well as for scholars. Since perceptions and behaviour of the affected employees are highly dependent on their individual attitude and circumstances, the underlying philosophical approach in this research is an interpretivist perspective. Based on the findings from the literature on outsourcing and change management from various domains, semi-structured interviews based on a interpretivist view and an abductive approach were developed. The study was conducted with fourteen respondents from six different industry sectors and different hierarchy levels such as operators, administrators and middle mangers with various organisational functions. The following three headlines, or major codes, highlight and summarise the findings of the study: credibility of managers, communication concept and individual support of the affected employees. Within these three major codes, the thesis highlights twelve main codes and 39 sub-codes relevant for the support of the employees during outsourcing and gives an indication about their importance. The study identified that about a fifth of the aspects underlined in the literature play a minor role in case of outsourcing or are even critical, as for instance to celebrate achieved milestones. On the other hand, several additional elements could be identified that are not mentioned or are not prioritised in the existing body of research, but have strong contribution for successful outsourcing. Those are for instance a mentoring program during the transition phase, the impact of age and job tenure or detailed aspects of the required individual support.

<p>Med dagens ökande globalisering och ökande konkurrens på marknaderna söker bolag efter nya vägar för att minimera sina kostnader. På senare år har outsourcingen till Indien ökat markant. Detta då landet erbjuder en stor mängd välutbildad personal till relativt låga kostnader.</p><p>Syftet med denna studie är att redogör för vilka eventuella risker som uppkommer i och med outsourcing till Indien. Dessutom ämnar studien om den riskhantering som sker är rationell både med utgångspunkt i den finansiella riskhanteringsteorin och ur ett ägarperspektiv.</p><p>Studien kan klassificeras som en kvalitativ fallstudie. Den empiriska informationen som samlats in har utförts via intervjuer. De respondenter som valts har o lika erfarenhet av outsourcing. Den insamlade empirin har analyserats genom användande och jämförande med modern finansiell riskhanteringsteori.</p><p>Slutsatserna med uppsatsen är att det finns betydliga risker som måste beaktas i och med en outsourcingprocess. Ytterligare kan det sägas att den riskhantering som sker stämmer väl överens med de teorier som finns inom ämnet. Huruvida den riskhantering som sker är rationell utifrån ett aktieägarvärde är mer tvetydlig. Ur en rent finansiell riskhanteringsteori är den inte helt rationell. Men den riskhantering som sker är rationell utifrån det perspektiv att den säkerställer de positiva effekterna som outsourcingen vill uppnå. Detta leder till att den ändå i slutändan påverkar bolagets värde på ett positivt sätt vilket gynnar aktieägarna.</p>

Metod: Uppsatsen är en kvalitativ studie baserad på intervjuer med fem aktörer aktiva inom outsourcing av IT samt vetenskapliga artiklar och litteratur inom ämnesområdet. Resultat: Företag som outsourcar IT underskattar ofta konsekvenserna av förlorad kärnkompetens, kostnaderna orsakade av avbräck i den övriga verksamheten samt komplexiteten i att formulera och övervaka outsourcingavtal. Emerging technologies have changed the environment of global competition; many IT-firms are adapting new trends of offshore software development to attain latest and low costs services. This research report is aimed to fill the literature void on application outsourcing governance and emphasize on the components critical for a successful application outsourcing governance model. The research is conducted on a service-buyer IT-firm which forwards software development assignments to its vendors locally as well as globally. Research employs qualitative method where social constructivist philosophical worldview is used to gain practical understanding of participants’ viewpoints on the research topic; research uses inductive approach which is intended at theory building. Three types of interview methods are used for data collection; analytical process of Grounded Theory is used to analyze the data systemically. GT coding technique is used to code collected data into different concepts by constant comparison and by asking questions; similar concepts are gathered under different categories. One core category and seven key categories are emerged from the data; these categories represent the key components of application outsourcing governance model. Finally, these components integrate in order to form application outsourcing governance framework for successful deliveries of application outsourcing projects.

Bakgrund: Outsourcing har funnits sedan 1960-talet, men var då vanligast inom IT-sektorn. Numera är outsourcing betydligt mer förekommande efter ett större genomslag under 1990-talet. Då kom en slogan att bli vanlig lydande ”satsa på din kärnkompetens”. Outsourcing handlar om att lämna ut en del av ett företag till en extern aktör för att denne ska sköta den delen. Oftast tillhör inte ekonomiavdelningen företagens kärnverksamhet vilket leder till att företagen väljer att outsourca den delen. Genom att istället satsa på kärnkompetensen kan ett företag vara starkare gentemot konkurrens från andra företag. När ett företag väljer att outsourca bör de vara uppmärksamma på de risker som kan föreligga. Forskare pratar om att det är viktigt med en bra relation mellan ett företag och en inhyrd kompetens, och att kommunikationen dem emellan måste fungera. Däremot är det få konsekvenser som tas upp i samband med dålig kommunikation. Forskningsfrågor: Hur arbetar företaget respektive leverantören för att upprätthålla en god relation till varandra vid outsourcing av ekonomifunktioner? Hur upplever aktörerna att relationen fungerar? Syfte: Syftet med studien är att få en ökad förståelse kring hur relationen fungerar mellan företaget och redovisningskonsulten, när företaget väljer att outsourca sina redovisningsfunktioner. Målet med studien är att få en uppfattning om hur förtroende, kommunikation samt kom-petens bygger en relation. Metod: Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metod med intervjuer. Både företag som outsourcar sina ekonomifunktioner samt auktoriserade redovis-ningskonsulter har intervjuats. Slutsats: För att upprätthålla en bra relation krävs bra kommunikation, starkt förtroende och kompetens. Att konsulten har rätt kompetens är under-förstått, och är inte alls lika avgörande för relationen. Personkemin mellan företaget och konsulten måste stämma för att samarbetet ska fungera. De intervjuade aktörerna upplever att relationen fungerar bra och är nöjda med den. Det är viktigt att företagen vet vad de vill uppnå med outsourcingrelationen innan den påbörjas.<br>Background: Outsourcing has been around since the 1960s; most commonly used in the IT sector. Today outsourcing is frequently used. In the 1990s out-sourcing made a great impact, when a slogan that was common read, "invest in your core competencies." Outsourcing entails releasing a portion of ones business to an external player to handles the task. Often the financial department is not considered to be the core business within the company, this leads to companies deciding to outs-ource this task and department. By focusing on the core competencies, a company can be stronger against the competition that affects companies. When outsourcing ones business the company should be aware of the risks that exist. Scientists talk about the importance of having a good relationship between a company and their outsourcing supplier. A good communication is vital between both parties. How-ever, the implications of poor communication are rarely discussed. Research questions: How do the company and the supplier work to maintain a good relationship between each other, when outsourcing financial and accounting functions? How do both parties experience that the relationship works? Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain a greater understanding of how the relationship between a company and the accountant works when the company chooses to outsource their financial and accounting funct-ions. The goal is to get an idea and perception of how confidence, communication and skills build a relationship. Method: The essay is based on a qualitative approach based on interviews. Both companies that are outsourcing their accounting functions and authorized accountants have been interviewed. Conclusion: In order to maintain a good relationship good communication, strong confidence and competence is required. The fact that the consultant has appropriate skills is implied, and does not have much effect on the relationship. The chemistry between the company and the outsourcing supplier must correspond for the cooperation to function. Both parties in this study are satisfied with the relationship. It is of great import-ance that the company is aware of their expectations before entering a relation with an outsourcing company.
