The reliable and representative ageing of asphalt samples in the laboratory is critically important to research on asphalt durability, waste material recycling and rejuvenation treatments. However, standard laboratory ageing protocols omit ultraviolet radiation and moisture, and are also based on a universally applied oven temperature and ageing duration. The aim of this research was to demonstrate the importance of ultraviolet radiation in laboratory asphalt aging, motivated by the need for more realistic ageing protocols. Abstract The accelerated aging tests of the special neoprene material in hot air were carried in laboratory. The aging mechanism was analyzed by using FTIR, DSC and TG spectra. The results showed that the thermal oxidative aging in air was a self-catalyzed oxidating reaction, the cross-linking reaction firstly in the process of thermo-oxidation, and the degradation reaction occurs at the later stage of aging.

Oxidative age hardening in asphalt binder leads to embrittlement. Embrittled asphalt is prone to fatigue and thermal cracking. Therefore, the ability to predict asphalt binder oxidative age hardening within a pavement throughout its service life could inform improved pavement material selection, design, and maintenance practices. Studying the evolution of oxidative aging requires the use of key properties to track oxidation levels, termed aging index properties (AIPs) here. The free radical theory of aging was defined in the 1950s. On the base of this theory, the reactive oxygen species formed in the metabolic pathways can play pivotal role in ageing. The theory was modified by defining the mitochondrial respiration as the major cellular source of reactive oxygen species and got the new name mitochondrial theory of aging. Later on the existence of a “vicious cycle” was proposed, in which the reactive oxygen species formed in the mitochondrial respiration impair the mitochondrial DNA and its functions. Resumen
Myrtle oil extracted from the spent berries of myrtle liqueur production, using 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, was used to increase the oxidative stability of sunflower oil (SFO). Three blending ratios (5%, 10%, and 15% w/w) and the SFO without any addition were subjected to forced aging conditions at 70 °C for 21 days. The changes in peroxide value (PV), p-anisidine value (AV), total oxidation value (totox), and conjugated dienes and trienes were evaluated during forced aging. The oxidative stability of the blends was also assessed by the spin trapping method coupled with Electron Paramagnetic Reso

Resumen
Oxidative stress is the result of the imbalance between reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS), which are produced by several endogenous and exogenous processes, and antioxidant defenses consisting of exogenous and endogenous molecules that protect biological systems from free radical toxicity. Oxidative stress is a major factor in the aging process, contributing to the accumulation of cellular damage over time. Oxidative damage to cellular biomolecules, leads to DNA alterations, lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, and mitochondrial dysfunction resulting in cellular senescence, immune

Objective: Aging is associated with increased oxidative stress and diminished cellular repair mechanisms, particularly in the lungs. This study investigates the protective effects of intermittent fasting (IF), SCD Probiotics, and their combination on oxidative stress and molecular alterations in the lungs of aging rats. Materials and Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats (24 months old) were divided into four groups: control, intermittent fasting, probiotics, and a combination of both treatments. Oxidative stress markers, including malondialdehyde (MDA), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), and

Resumen
This study observed the effect of salidroside on improving oxidative aging induced by D-galactose in mice by enhancing aerobic swimming. In this study, the oxidative aging model of mice was established by D-galactose, and the changes of organ index, histopathological changes, and mRNA expression in serum and tissue of oxidative aging mice after aerobic swimming and aerobic swimming+salidroside were detected. The results showed that aerobic swimming and aerobic swimming+salidroside inhibited the decline of heart index, liver index, spleen index and kidney index caused by oxidative aging in mice

Resumen
Exercise and caloric restriction improve skeletal muscle metabolism. However, the benefits of exercise and caloric restriction on skeletal muscle metabolism in aging have never been compared. Seven-week-old male Wistar rats (n = 24) were divided into 4 groups (n = 6 per group) to receive either normal saline solution for 28 weeks, 150 mg/kg/day of D-galactose for 28 weeks to induce premature aging, 150 mg/kg/day of D-galactose for 28 weeks plus exercise for 16 weeks (week 13–28), or 150 mg/kg/day of D-galactose for 28 weeks plus 30% caloric restriction for 16 weeks (week 13–28). Resumen
Aging can be seen as process characterized by accumulation of oxidative stress induced damage. Oxidative stress derives from different endogenous and exogenous processes, all of which ultimately lead to progressive loss in tissue and organ structure and functions. The oxidative stress theory of aging expresses itself in age-related diseases. Aging is in fact a primary risk factor for many diseases and in particular for cardiovascular diseases and its derived morbidity and mortality. Here we highlight the role of oxidative stress in age-related cardiovascular aging and diseases. We take into co

Resumen
Implication of reactive oxygen species/oxidative stress has been readily reported in etiology of aging and related manifestations. Plasma membrane as a regulator of numerous aspects of cell physiology including cell–cell interaction, solute transport, and signal transduction, provides structural integrity to the cells. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of resveratrol administration in vitro, to evaluate the biological effect of this phytoalexin in oxidatively injured erythrocytes during aging. This study, carried out on 91 normal healthy subjects, provides experimental e
