Resumen
Perinephric abscesses are life-threatening conditions, which are rarely associated with neoplasms of the kidney or upper tract collecting system. We report, to our knowledge, the first case of squamous carcinoma of the upper tract presenting as a perinephric abscess, diagnosed after radical nephrectomy.

Resumen
Perinephric abscess is a rare life-threatening condition. It can complicate a urologic infection or occur secondary to hematogenous seeding. We report a case of a 49-year-old diabetic female who came to the outpatient department with complaints of right-sided abdominal pain for 2 days. It was associated with fever, headache, vomiting, and generalized weakness. Non-contrast computerized Tomography (NCCT) showed a subcapsular collection measuring 6.1× 5.7 × 4.4 cm noted adjacent to the lateral aspect of the right kidney. Following percutaneous nephrostomy, thick pus was drained from the abscess

Resumen
Citrobacter species are anaerobic gram-negative bacteria that are known to cause infections in immunocompromised hosts, particularly in hospital settings. Their opportunistic nature and tendency to develop antibiotic resistance make Citrobacter species challenging to treat. Renal or perinephric abscess formation as a result of Citrobacter infection is uncommon, having only previously been reported in four cases. We present a case of a 70-year-old man with diabetes and prostate cancer who was diagnosed with an 18 cm perinephric and a 10 cm perihepatic abscess caused by Citrobacter koseri. The p

Resumen
Iliopsoas abscess is a rare clinical entity. It is even more uncommon for psoas abscess to develop in association with genitourinary infections like perinephric abscess because of the retroperitoneal anatomy. Here we present an unusual case of a perinephric abscess extending as psoas abscess which was treated with computed tomography (CT) guided drainage.

Retroperitoneal infections are often difficult to diagnose as their clinical presentation is often non-specific. They generally occur in people with anatomical abnormalities, malignancy, injury, or infection of the retroperitoneal organs, but may result from lymphatic or haematogenous spread. Delayed diagnosis can lead to abscess formation with associated high morbidity and risk of mortality. The retroperitoneum can be divided into anterior, perinephric, and posterior compartments and an understanding of this anatomy can help localize the source of infection. This chapter addresses focal renal infections and papillary necrosis. Focal infections of the kidney can be divided into intrarenal and perirenal pathology. The classification of intrarenal abscess encompasses renal cortical abscess and renal corticomedullary abscess; the latter includes acute focal bacterial nephritis (AFBN), acute multifocal bacterial nephritis, and xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP). Perirenal abscesses are found in the perinephric fascia external to the capsule of the kidney, generally occurring from extension of an intrarenal abscess. Meanwhile, papillary necrosis i

Abstract Pain, located in the abdomen, flank, or back is the most common initial com plaint in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and, at some point in the course of the disease, affects the majority of patients (Dalgaard 1957; Iglesias et al. 1983, Gabow et al. 1984). The pain can be caused by cyst enlargement; bleeding (either confined to inside a cyst or leading to gross haematuria with passage of clots, or to a perinephric haematoma); urinary tract infection (acute pyelonephritis, infected cyst, perinephric abscess); nephrolithia sis and renal colic; rarely a coincidental
