This items strongly influences in elements such as career choice, the level of satisfaction with training and on the job performance. The research presented here aims to analyze variables such as expectations of students in vocational education, the reasons why they have chosen these studies, satisfaction with training and expectation of employment at the end of their training period. It is a descriptive study that combines quantitative and qualitative methodology, focusing on a Galician county (called Barbanza) and following the paradigm of human and local development. We performed a probabilistic stratified random sampling in function of the vocational school trainees are in, reaching a final sample of 267 trainees, to which was applied a questionnaire designed ad hoc and validated using expert judgment and pilot test. As a result, it is noteworthy that most of the trainees thought about the labour insertion as a priority when they chose their training, followed by the vocational interest and geographical proximity of the school to the family home. After the analysis, it is concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between the professional field of training and the expectation of employability at the end of it.

Resumen
This paper evaluates the influence of genotype on the photosynthetic activity of hops in the period critical for generating yield. Results over three years from measuring the photosynthesis rate statistically show an increase in the photosynthetic activity of hop plants in the flowering stage. The average photosynthetic rates from measurements on the second date (BBA 65) in the years 2007, 2008, and 2009 increased by 17.9%, 45.6%, and 49.2%, respectively. Different photosynthesis curve trends during the final stage of ontogenesis of the plants indicate the maturity level of each hop genotype. As regards the genotypes for which photosynthesis did not reduce significantly, it may be assumed that such plants had not reached technical maturity. The results from the three-year study also show that any promising genotype, with respect to the photosynthesis rate and yield, is the result of breeding of new varieties with greater resistance to drought and high temperatures. Very good results in photosynthetic activity were reached by the new varieties exhibiting high yield and a similar chemical composition to Saaz hop and those sharing the same origins to Saaz, showing a higher content of bitter substances. In 2008 and 2009, all three new forms reached yield levels of 2.35 to 3.12 t/ha of dry hops.

Resumen
The Late Formative period immediately precedes the emergence of Tiwanaku, one of the earliest South American states, yet it is one of the most poorly understood periods in the southern Lake Titicaca Basin (Bolivia). In this article, we refine the ceramic chronology of this period with large sets of dates from eight sites, focusing on temporal inflection points in decorated ceramic styles. These points, estimated here by Bayesian models, index specific moments of change: (1) cal AD 120 (60–170, 95% probability): the first deposition of Kalasasaya red-rimmed and zonally incised styles; (2) cal AD 240 (190–340, 95% probability): a tentative estimate of the final deposition of Kalasasaya zonally incised vessels; (3) cal AD 420 (380–470, 95% probability): the final deposition of Kalasasaya red-rimmed vessels; and (4) cal AD 590 (500–660, 95% probability): the first deposition of Tiwanaku Redwares. These four modeled boundaries anchor an updated Late Formative chronology, which includes the Initial Late Formative phase, a newly identified decorative hiatus between the Middle and Late Formative periods. The models place Qeya and transitional vessels between inflection points 3 and 4 based on regionally consistent stratigraphic sequences. This more precise chronology will enable researchers to explore the trajectories of other contemporary shifts during this crucial period in Lake Titicaca Basin's prehistory.

Resumen
We have developed a computer code (Tauris & Bailes 1996) to follow the evolution of a binary system from the zero-age main sequence to its “final” state as a binary millisecond pulsar (BMSP), at all stages keeping careful track of the mass and orbital separation of the two stars. To help determine the origin of millisecond pulsars, we compute the space velocities predicted by various models of their formation. It is difficult to produce a millisecond pulsar velocity greater than 270 km s−1with any model, unless the formation of the neutron star is accompanied by some form of asymmetric kick. We obtain average 3-D system velocities of 〈vrecoil〉= 99.6, 137.6 and 160.7 km s−1using Gaussian kicks of 〈vkick〉=0, 200 and 450 km s−1(σ=0, 100 and 200 km s - 1, respectively). Our computations show that, in general, we expect those systems with shorter orbital periods to have larger velocities than those with longer periods, but any relation between the final orbital period and space velocity is fairly weak, especially if asymmetries are involved.

Resumen
This contribution presents and discusses the preliminary results of the first field season of archaeological investigations at the site of Caylán, localized in the lower portion of the Nepeña Valley. Between June and August of 2009, mapping and excavation operations were carried out as part of the Proyecto de Investigación Arqueológica Caylán (PIAC). This article revises previous research realized at Caylán with the objective of underscoring the importance and complexity of the prehispanic settlement. We develop the working hypotheses, methodology and fieldwork of this first season. The preliminary analysis of spatial, architectural, and ceramic data suggests that Caylán represented the center of a new tradition that emerged in the lower Nepeña during the Late and Final Formative (800-200 BC).

These final reflections stress the relevance of this substantial collection of papers presented in both volumes of the Boletín. Monumental architecture is particularly important with early beginnings, long construction sequences, and, as such, testimony of local histories, identities and memories. It transmits cosmological and cosmogonic ideas as ceremonial centers and organizes the landscape, and thus can be defined as central places in an economic, political and social sense. As such, it is of major relevance to the establishment of interaction spheres.

This paper endeavors to establish some basic points of reference to better understand the early culture-historical dynamics of the Casma Valley. The revised chronology presented here follows the ceramic sequence developed by Peter Fuchs (1990) on the basis of his Cerro Sechín stratigraphy, confirmed and amplified in its early sections by his recent excavations at Sechín Bajo. A systematic review of the different categories of archaeological data reveals many lacunae that still persist in our record. Monumental architecture most clearly expresses the socio-cultural complexity of the ancient Casma Valley polities. It first appeared during the Sechín Period (3400-1650 cal BC) which is part of the Late Archaic (Preceramic), followed during the Early Formative by the Moxeke Period (1650-1400 cal BC) and the Haldas Period (1400-1000 cal BC) with their diagnostic ceramics. Within this timeframe, some hypotheses formulated by Shelia and Thomas Pozorski (2006) about the socio-political transactions between major Casma Valley sites are evaluated in the light of the archaeological evidence. The tradition of monumental adobe architecture that goes back to about 3400 cal BC in the Casma Valley, reminds us of analogous developments in the Pre-Pottery Neolithic of the ancient Near East. There still remains the challenge to adapt Archaic Period terminology in the Andes to those new discoveries (Kaulicke 1994, 2007: 17-18).

Bibliography: leaves 289-298
Source-criticism of the Pentateuch suggests that the priests (Source P) alone authored the Holiness Code – the premise being that Source P forms one religious, literate and elite group of several. Through the endeavor to redefine Israelite identity during the Neo-Babylonian Empire of 626–539 BCE and the Achaemenid Persian Empire of 550–330 BCE, various ideologies of Israelite identity were produced by various religious, literate and elite groups. Possibly, the Holiness Code functions as the compromise reached between two such groups, these being: the Shaphanites, and the Zadokites. Moreover, the Holiness Code functions as the basis for the agreed identity of Israel as seen by the Shaphanites and the Zadokites. Specifically, in Leviticus 19:1-19a – as being the Levitical decalogue of the Holiness Code, and which forms the emphasis of this thesis – both Shaphanite and Zadokite ideologies are expressed therein. The Shaphanite ideology is expressed through the Mosaic tradition: i.e., through the Law; and the Zadokite ideology is expressed through the Aaronide tradition: i.e., through the Cult. In the debate between the supremacy of the Law, or the Cult – i.e., Moses or Aaron – the ancient Near Eastern convention of the ‘rivalry between brothers’ is masterfully negotiated in Leviticus 19:1-19a.

Resumen
Historical linguistics is a key witness in reconstructing the prehistory of Oceania. The extraordinary number of Papuan (non-Austronesian) language families in Near Oceania is consistent with archaeological evidence that this region was settled over 40,000 years ago. One family, Trans New Guinea, is exceptional in its wide distribution, suggesting that its expansion was underpinned by technological advances. Most Austronesian languages of Oceania fall into a single branch of the family, Oceanic, indicating that they stem from a bottleneck in the Austronesian expansion into the southwest Pacific, associated with the formation of Proto Oceanic (POc). The final stages of this formative period almost certainly took place in the Bismarck Archipelago and the subsequent rapid dispersal of Oceanic languages across the southwest Pacific can be connected with the region's colonization by bearers of the Lapita archaeological culture. The reconstructed lexicon of POc provides information about early Lapita material culture and social organization.

Resumen
The book combines memoir, interview, and archival sources to survey the musical life of the author’s hometown, Detroit, in his youth during the city’s heyday, 1940s–1960s. After an opening chapter on the formation of personal musical identity, the focus shifts to the formative role of the public school system in educating and shaping the careers of waves of highly talented youth, many of whom became leading figures in African American and classical music nationally. Next comes a panorama of the “neighborhood” subcultural musics of European, southern white, and southern black immigrants to Detroit, followed up by a close-up of the Jewish community’s special case. “Merging Traffic” considers the way that industry, labor, the counterculture, Motown, and the media brought many streams of music together. A final retrospective chapter cites the work of Detroit writers and artists who, like the author, have been looking back at the city’s impact on their work. This is the first-ever comprehensive survey of the musical life of any American city in a given time period.

Resumen
“Whoever wishes to discover the prophet cannot bypass the book.” This motto adequately characterizes the current exegetical paradigm in studies on the Book of Isaiah. It emphasizes the priority of the prophetic book emanating from the literary account of the historical prophet, which has been preserved, significantly extended, and shaped by its tradents for almost half a millennium. In order to enable readers to gain a deeper understanding of the prophetic message, this chapter outlines the history of research and gives an overview of the key periods of literary development, focusing on their influence on the book’s formation and prophetic massage. The Book of Isaiah in its final form is understood as a “literary drama” in which the readers witness the transformation of Jerusalem from a place of judgment into a place of eschatological salvation for both the righteous in Israel and the just ones from the nations.

Resumen
Medieval slavery has received little attention relative to slavery in ancient Greece and Rome and in the early modern Atlantic world. This imbalance in the scholarship has led many to assume that slavery was of minor importance in the Middle Ages. In fact, the practice of slavery continued unabated across the globe throughout the medieval millennium. This volume – the final volume in The Cambridge World History of Slavery – covers the period between the fall of Rome and the rise of the transatlantic plantation complexes by assembling twenty-three original essays, written by scholars acknowledged as leaders in their respective fields. The volume demonstrates the continual and central presence of slavery in societies worldwide between 500 CE and 1420 CE. The essays analyze key concepts in the history of slavery, including gender, trade, empire, state formation and diplomacy, labor, childhood, social status and mobility, cultural attitudes, spectrums of dependency and coercion, and life histories of enslaved people.

Resumen
This is a book about the intersection between processes of mobility and religious identity and practice in Early Modern Ireland. The period between c.1580 and c.1685 was one of momentous importance in terms of the establishment of different confessional identities in the island, and various typesof mobility played a key role in the development, articulation, and maintenance of separate religious communities. Part I examines the dialectic between migration and religious adherence, paying particular attention to the transnational dimension of clerical formation which played a vital role in shaping the competing Catholic, Church of Ireland, and non-conformist clergies. Part II investigates how more quotidian practices of mobility such as pilgrimage and interparochial communions helped to elaborate religious identities and the central role of figurative images of movement in structuring Christians’ understanding of their lives. The final chapters of the book analyze the extraordinary importance of migratory experience in shaping the lives and writings of the authors of key confessional identity texts. Hitherto underestimated or taken for granted, the book argues that migrants and exiles were of crucial significance in forging the self-understanding of the different religious communities of the island.

This is the first modern study of the Fellowship of Merchant Adventurers—sixteenth-century England’s premier trading company—in its final century of existence as a privileged organization. Over this period the company’s main trade, the export of cloth to northwest Europe, was overshadowed by rising traffic with the wider world, whilst its privileges were continually criticized in an era of political revolution. But the company and its membership were not passive victims of these changes; rather, they were active participants in the commercial and political dramas of the century. Using thousands of neglected private merchant papers, the book views the company from the perspective of its members, in the process bringing to life the complex social worlds of early modern merchants. It addresses the challenge of maintaining corporate unity in the face of internal disagreements and external attacks. It restores the centrality of the Merchant Adventurers within three important historical narratives: England’s transition from the margins to the centre of the European, and later global, economy; the rise and fall of the merchant corporation as a major form of commercial government in premodern Europe; and the political history of the corporation in an era of state formation and revolution.

Resumen
This chapter presents the final stage of “communal formation” reflected in the Qur’an, which occurred during the Medinan period. During this period, through processes involving the insertion of texts within existing proclamations from the Meccan period, concepts such as the “discovery of God’s wrath” and the “discovery of ambiguity in the divine scripture” come to the fore. Furthermore, Mecca again becomes the focus of communal ritual, after that focus had strayed toward Jerusalem. Finally, in this chapter the Qur’anic conception of martyrdom is discussed in relation to its monotheistic precedents.

Resumen
Childhood is an ecologically and socially mediated component of life history. Among prehistoric foragers from the Late/Final Jomon period (3400 to 2300 BP), socially visible identities associated with childhood begin at approximately 2.0 years, while ecologically identifiable childhood begins at approximately 3.5 years. Incremental microstructures of enamel were evaluated for evidence of linear enamel hypoplasia (LEH), and age-at-defect formation was estimated in the dental remains of these individuals. Interquartile ranges for age-at-defect formation were between 2.8 and 4.1 years, while 90% confidence intervals were between 2.1 and 4.8 years. The number of LEH formed during these ages was, however, neutral with respect to mortality. These results argue that the transition from infancy to childhood was a period for increased growth disruption among these prehistoric foragers, although these disruptions did not influence mortality patterns. These findings suggest that the stress experienced during the infancy/childhood transition was incorporated into the Jomon physiological system in such a way that it did not diminish energetic investments into surviving future stress events.

Resumen
The Conclusion of Classical Caledonia looks at nineteenth century attitudes towards Roman Scotland, also comparing these to Victorian attitudes towards England’s Roman heritage. It reveals striking differences, with the Roman period being viewed as a pivotal moment in the formation of modern England, but the exploits of the Romans in Scotland largely dismissed as an inconsequential footnote. During the Victorian era, the Scottish fascination with the Romans and the Caledonians would be replaced by more romanticised visions of the nation’s early history. This final section categorises the eighteenth-century obsession with Scotland’s Roman past as a historical and patriotic ‘dead end’ and discusses why it failed to become a lasting element of Scotland’s popular history and national identity.

Resumen
This Chapter examines the processes around state and society, traces the role of social networks outside the state realm, and conceptualizes these processes as the complementarity of state and society, where strong ideational linkages led to the formation of an ‘epistemic network’. These processes played a significant role in the final phase of the enactment of the Right to Information Act. The period covered in this chapter coincides with the latter half of the second phase. This chapter establishes that mainstream politics converged with the emerging socio-political processes led by the elite within the social movement, judiciary, the press, bureaucracy, and the academia. This convergence needs to be viewed as one of state–society synergy, where the collective ‘epistemic push’ of actors from both within the state and society ‘tips over’ the institution from ‘secrecy’ to ‘openness’.

Resumen
This section approaches the political issues that concerned Norwegian shipping as part of the international shipping industry, from four separate angles. The first explores the Norwegian Health Policy as it related to merchant seamen between 1890 and 1940. The second explores the establishment of the Norwegian-American line between 1908 and 1913 and the extent to which the government played a supportive role through intervention, incentives, and nation-building strategies. The third continues to explore government support of maritime activity, by looking at the successes of Norwegian shipping in the Interwar period and the factors which enabled large-scale modernisation such as the re-evaluated tax regime that worked in favour of maritime expansion. The final segment examines the visibility of the small nation of Norway on the international maritime stage - particularly the formation of international organisations and networks, and cooperation between shipowners and government with the end goal of promoting Norwegian shipping to the international community. Overall, it determines that the cohesion between politics and trade helped strengthen Norwegian maritime endeavors during the early-twentieth century.

Resumen
Chapter 2 concerns two recurrent images from Edmond Jabès’s late works, Un étranger avec, sous le bras, un livre de petit format (1989) and Le livre de l’hospitalité (1991). While Jabès is well known within French literary circles, analyses of his early Cairene work— and to an even lesser extent the formative roles of orality and aurality from his pre- Parisian period—are few and thin. I first contextualize the figure of the Egyptian poet in relation to the history of Jabès scholarship, and then build on Tengour’s translational poetics of the classical Arabic literary archive in order to unravel a different, sublimated translational mode that links many of Jabès’s later books. In his late and final works, which he composed while living in Paris, Jabès’s poetic imaginary reprises word for word the tropes of early Arabic verse. When read together and in relation to the same archival corpus, Tengour and Jabès represent contrasting translational and intertextual modes for comparative poetic and translingual compositions in French. Through his aphasic refuge in French monolingualism following his exile from Cairo, and his late re/discovery of classical Arabic poetry in Paris, Jabès’s sublimated recourse to early Arabic verse retraces and performs the history of the old literary forms beneath a French language surface.

Resumen
This is a book about the intersection between processes of mobility and religious identity and practice in Early Modern Ireland. The period between c.1580 and c.1685 was one of momentous importance in terms of the establishment of different confessional identities in the island, and processes of mobility played a key role in the development, articulation, and maintenance of separate religious communities. Part I of the book examines the dialectic between migration and religious adherence, paying particular attention to the transnational dimension of clerical formation which played a vital role in shaping the competing Catholic Church of Ireland and non-conformist clergies. The book argues that migrants and exiles, hitherto underestimated or taken for granted, were of crucial significance in forging the self-understanding of the different religious communities of the island.

Resumen
Chapter 7 summarizes and clarifies the argument in the book, explaining the distinctive nature of International Human Rights Law. It reminds us that states invented human rights in 1945 with the inauguration of the United Nations Charter. They explained the meaning of the term ‘human rights’ three years later with the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, although the concept evolved in a radically different direction than originally expected as states responded to events in apartheid southern Africa. The central insight of this final chapter is that the moral concept of human rights, which emerges from the legal practice, then influences the legal practice. We see this with the introduction, without debate, of the system of Universal Periodic Review, in the pro homine approach to the interpretation of human rights treaties, and in the modern methodology for customary international law formation, which looks first to the communication acts of the United Nations General Assembly. The book concludes by showing how the influence of the idea of human rights on the legal practices can explain the fragmentation of international law and, relatedly, the special nature of International Human Rights Law.

Resumen
This chapter aims at presenting the characteristics of cabinets in Germany, in particular for the cabinets formed since the beginning of the twenty-first century. The chapter covers two decades of coalition dynamics and an era that has led to significant changes in German politics in general and the German party system in particular. The electoral support for the two catch-all parties – Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) and Social Democrats (SPD) decreased in that time period, while the increased number of parliamentary parties and the increasing vote share for the smaller parties resulted in a more complex bargaining environment. We also discuss changes in the policy profiles of the parliamentary parties and how potential coalitions are discussed during election campaigns. The chapter provides first a brief overview on the institutional setting in which parties in Germany act and which influences the government-formation process, as well as the daily business of coalition governance. In a second step, we outline recent dynamics in the structure of the German party system. The final section summarizes the findings, considers if an overall trend in terms of changes in coalition governance exists in Germany, and discusses the impact of the parliamentary presence of a left- and a right-wing ‘pariah’ party—The Left and the Alternative for Germany—for coalition politics in Germany in the future.

Resumen
Abstract It is a common problem that many computer tools intended to enhance human performance in design or manufacturing planning do not do so. In many cases they may actually degrade performance. One way to increase the probability that a tool will meet users needs is to include frequent periodic usability assessments in the development process so feedback from users can be incorporated in new iterations of the software design. This paper describes an example of one such assessment applied to a Mediator, a feature extraction and process planning tool for assisting process planners to explore plan options more quickly and thoroughly. There exists a wide variety of usability assessment techniques which can mostly be divided into two broad categories: summative evaluations which provide in-depth assessments in the final stages of software development, and formative evaluations which tend to be smaller in scale and are used to provide guidance for “forming” subsequent software versions during the development cycle. In this work, we describe a formative usability assessment. The study indicated that Mediator was meeting its design goal of broadening the users exploration of manufacturing options, in some cases producing high quality manufacturing options which the expert users had not considered on their own. The study also provided formative redesign information gleaned which will help future versions of Mediator to better meet the actual needs of process planners.

Resumen
Based on previous results showing that a compressor stall can be initiated from hub region, a hypothesis is further proposed: the type of stall inceptions is related to the loading distributions. A series of experiments are designed to examine the effects of radial loading to the stall inception and its evolution. Well-designed distortion screens installed at the inlet of a single-stage low-speed axial compressor induce various radial distributions of blade loading. The uniform inflow situation, i.e. without screen, is defined as the baseline, in which case the compressor shows the modal type stall inception. With hub distortion screens, the hub loading is keeping to be increased, however, the compressor still shows modal type of stall inception. After further data processing, it is found that there is a period between linear growth of modal wave and the formation of a large amplitude stall cell. In that period, the tip pressure signal does not show any clear traveling disturbances. In further investigation, it is found that there are large disturbances formed in the hub region during this period. With increasing the hub loading, the large amplitude disturbances in hub region appear earlier and earlier. In our previous work, the compressor showed spike type stall inception with a tip distortion screen. Combining these observations, it is proposed that radial loading of the blade does have significant effects on both the type of stall inception and the evolution which is in particular corresponding to transient process from small linear disturbance to final formation of stall cell in our compressor.

Resumen
In this work aerothermal investigations of a highly loaded HP turbine blade are presented. The purpose of such investigations is to improve the physical understanding of the heat transfer in separated flow regions, with the final goal of optimizing cooling configurations for aerodynamically highly loaded turbine designs. The analysis is focused on the T120 cascade, that was recently tested experimentally in the framework of the European project AITEB-2 (Aero-thermal Investigation of Turbine Endwalls and Blades). Such a cascade has a relatively low solidity that is responsible for the formation of a laminar separation bubble on the suction side of the blade. Separated-flow transition and transonic conditions downstream of the throat result in a flow configuration that is very challenging for traditional RANS solvers. Moreover, the separated flow transition pattern was found to have a strong impact on both the aerodynamic and thermal aspects. The study was carried out using a novel three-equation, transition-sensitive, turbulence model. It is based on the coupling of an additional transport equation for the laminar kinetic energy to the Wilcox k–ω model. Such an approach allows one to take into account the increase of the non-turbulent fluctuations in the pre-transitional and transitional region. Comprehensive aerodynamic and heat transfer measurements were available for comparison purposes. In particular, heat transfer measurements cover different Mach and Reynolds numbers, in both steady and periodic unsteady inflow conditions. A detailed comparison between measurements and computations is presented, and the impact of transition-related aspects on the surface heat transfer is discussed.

Resumen
The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between natural resources revenue, fiscal policy and economic growth for 35 selected Sub-Saharan African countries. The panel data covering the periods of 1986-2014 was analyzed by using the fixed/random effect model estimation and the panel causality test. We also performed the panel unit root test in order to insure that our variables are stationary. The empirical results indicate that there is insignificant negative effect of natural resources revenue and bad fiscal policy on the economic growth. However, there is significant positive effect of capital formation on economic growth. We also found a bidirectional causality relationship between Natural resources rents and economic growth. There is also unidirectional causality link from government final consumption expenditure to Natural resources revenue and from Natural resources revenue to capital formation. These empirical results mean that Sub-Saharan African countries apply bad fiscal policy to improve the natural resource sector which does not efficiently contribute to the economic growth. This study suggests that countries of Sub-Saharan Africa must apply improved fiscal policy in order to add tax revenue to their total revenue; and they must also use the natural resources revenue in order to invest in other sectors such as education, manufacturing and agriculture.

Texto completo
Resumen
This paper presents an O(N) algorithm and its preliminary computer simulation results for virtual prototyping of molecular systems with a simple chain structure. The algorithm is based on proper integration between an internal coordinate method (ICM) and a multibody molecular model. ICM method makes the use of recursive relations possible between two adjacent subsets within a molecular system. The multibody molecular model takes the benefits of freezing degrees of freedom of some lightly excited high frequency bonds. Because these high frequency bonds would force the use of very small integration step sizes, which severely limits the time scales for virtual prototyping of dynamics of molecular conformation over long periods of time. Thus a new multiscale model and efficient algorithm is produced to increase computational efficiency for virtual prototyping of dynamical behaviors of molecular confirmation. This paper will be initially directed towards introduction of the new model and algorithm. Then attention will be turned to the implementation of the algorithm at macro scale, which can be used to demonstrate the validity of the procedure and algorithm. Final focus will be turned to the implementation of the algorithm to a simple molecular chain at micro scale. The algorithm gives an O(N) computational performance for formation/solution of equations of motion for a molecular chain system.

Resumen
Abstract The current worldwide trend for the final disposal of conditioned high-level, medium-level and long-lived alpha-bearing radioactive waste focuses on deep geological disposal. During the geological disposal, the isolation between the radioactive waste and the environment (biosphere) is realised by the multibarrier principle, which is based on the complementary nature of the various natural and engineered barriers. One of the main engineered barriers is the metallic container (overpack) that encloses the conditioned waste. In Belgium, the Boom Clay sediment is being studied as a potential host rock formation for the final disposal of conditioned high-level radioactive waste (HLW) and spent fuel. Since the mid 1980’s, SCK•CEN has developed an extensive research programme aimed at evaluating the suitability of a wide variety of metallic materials as candidate overpack material for the disposal of HLW. A multiple experimental approach is applied consisting of i) in situ corrosion experiments, ii) electrochemical experiments (cyclic potentiodynamic polarisation measurements and monitoring the evolution of ECORR as a function of time), and iii) immersion experiments. The in situ corrosion experiments were performed in the underground research facility, the High Activity Disposal Experimental Site, or HADES, located in the Boom clay layer at a depth of 225 metres below ground level. These experiments aimed at predicting the long-term corrosion behaviour of various candidate container materials. It was believed that this could be realised by investigating the medium-term interactions between the container materials and the host formation. These experiments resulted in a change of reasoning at the national authorities concerning the choice of over-pack material from the corrosion-allowance material carbon steel towards corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steels. The main arguments being the severe pitting corrosion during the aerobic period and the large amount of hydrogen gas generated during the subsequent anaerobic period. The in situ corrosion experiments however, did not allow to unequivocally quantify the corrosion of the various investigated candidate overpack materials. The main shortcoming was that they did not allow to experimentally separate the aerobic and anaerobic phase. This resulted in the elaboration of a new laboratory programme. Electrochemical corrosion experiments were designed to investigate the effect of a wide variety of parameters on the localised corrosion behaviour of candidate overpack materials: temperature, SO42−, Cl−, S2O32−, oxygen content (aerobic - anaerobic),… Three characteristic potentials can be derived from the cyclic potentiodynamic polarisation (CPP) curves: i) the open circuit potential, OCP, ii) the critical potential for pit nucleation, ENP, and iii) the protection potential, EPP. Monitoring the open circuit potential as a function of time in clay slurries, representative for the underground environment, provides us with a more reliable value for the corrosion potential, ECORR, under disposal conditions. The long-term corrosion behaviour of the candidate overpack materials can be established by comparing the value of ECORR relative to ENP and EPP (determined from the CPP-curves). The immersion tests were developed to complement the in situ experiments. These experiments aimed at determining the corrosion rate and to identify the corrosion processes that can occur during the aerobic and anaerobic period of the geological disposal. Also, some experiments were elaborated to study the effect of graphite on the corrosion behaviour of the candidate overpack materials.

Resumen
Fatty acid methyl esters (biodiesel), prepared from transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fats, have gained great importance in substituting petroleum based diesel for combating environmental problems and higher diesel prices. Moringa oleifera fatty acids are among the newly investigated potentials for biodiesel production in recent years. In getting rid of soap formation and thus large waste washing water from biodiesel produced from homogenous catalysts, the use of heterogeneous catalysts is currently preferred due to easily separation and purification of the final products. In this study, biodiesel was produced from moringa oleifera oil using sulfated tin oxide enhanced with SiO2 (SO42−/SnO2−SiO2) as super acid solid catalyst. The experimental design was done using design of experiment (DoE), specifically, response surface methodology based on three-variable central composite design (CCD) with alpha (α) = 2. The reaction parameters in the optimization process were reaction temperature (60°C to 180°C), reaction period (1 to 3 hrs) and methanol to oil ratio (1:6 to 1:24 mol/mol). It was observed that the yield up to 84wt% of moringa oleifera methyl esters can be obtained with reaction conditions of 150°C temperature, 150 minutes reaction time and 1:19.5 methanol to oil ratio, while catalyst concentration and agitation speed are kept at 3wt% and 350 rpm respectively.

Resumen
This research seeks to characterize the micro-mechanical behavior of Sn-Ag-Cu solder bumps/joints generated by fine feature flip chip fabrication and assembly processes. The bumps used for characterization were produced by stencil deposition of solder paste onto an electroless Nickel UBM, followed by a bump-forming reflow soldering process and the final assembly joints were then achieved by a subsequent reflow of die onto a fine feature Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The bumps and joints were aged at either 80°C or 150°C for up to 1.5 months and then analyzed by means of micro-shear testing and nano-indentation techniques. The shear test of the aged bumps showed a slight increase in shear strength after an initial period of aging (∼ 50h) as compared to as-manufactured bumps, but a decrease after longer aging (e.g. 440 h). A brittle Ag3Sn phase formed as large lamellae in the solder and along the interface between the Cu on the PCB during the initial aging, and is attributed to the increase of shear strength, along with the refinement of the bump microstructure. However, as the time of aging extended, the solder bumps were softened due to grain growth and re-crystallization. It was found that the formation of brittle phases in the solder and along the interfaces caused localized stress concentration, which can significantly affect joint reliability. In addition, Nano-testing identified a lamellar Au-rich structure, formed in the solder and interface of the solder/PCB in the joints after the aging process. These are believed to be detrimental to joint reliability.

Resumen
Abstract 107 new wells are planned to be drilled primarily from two new Artificial Islands during the period of one project from 2023 to 2029. The number of existing wells in the oil field has reached 1,068 Mother bores, 2,178 wellbores @16,453,666ft total well length as of December 2019. Trajectories, especially from existing Artificial Islands, are getting more complex so as to avoid collision issues, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to drill accordingly. It is of great importance to assure that it is possible to drill the planned wells without serious collision issues before the execution of the project. Trajectories for planned wells were drafted one-by-one utilizing "DecisionSpace Well Planning" based on the predetermined slot allocation with the planned drilling pad design. Geological models are incorporated into DecisionSpace Well Planning. Therefore, formation tops were taken into account in order to make the trajectories more realistic. After that, trajectories were exported to "COMPASS" and anti-collision scan was performed on well-by-well basis. Anti-collision scan was performed among planned wells as well as actual wells. In case that one well has such serious collision issues that the well cannot/should not be planned based on company policy as a result of Anti-collision scan, trajectory or Landing Point (LP)/Total Depth (TD) location were adjusted. Then, Anti-collision scan was carried out again. If it was confirmed that there is no serious Anti-collision issues, trajectory was considered as final. It has been found that all the wells during the period from 2023 to 2029 can be drilled without serious collision issues by slightly adjusting LP/TD while satisfying several practical drilling requirements. Through the Anti-collision study, following recommendations for the avoidance of collision were obtained:Multi Station Analysis (MSA)+In-Field Referencing (IFR)+SAG correction should be applied in all the Jack up operations as well as Island operationsApplication of real-time MSA should be considered on a case-by-case basisMWD survey for the past wells should be corrected with IFR+MSA to reduce EOU sizeRe-Gyro jobs for low-quality survey wells should be enhanced around the project's development areaKick off point (KOP) should be deeper in the center of the drilling pad and shallower in the edge of the drilling pad

The overall activity of radioactive waste are evaluated at 1,640,504.64 ΤBq. The RAW management activities are implemented at the Chornoby1 NPP within the frame of several programs of different hierarchy including the State Comprehensive Program for RAW Management in Ukraine, Integrated Program of RAW Management at the Chornoby1 NPP Shutdown Stage and Transformation of the Unit Shelter into an Ecologically Safe System. At the present time a number of key RAW management facilities are being constructed within the frame of the international aid to Ukraine. They are the Liquid Radioactive Waste Plant and Solid Radioactive Waste Reprocessing Complex. As of now, the issues concerning RAW utilization at the Unit Shelter are resolved at a conceptual level. There has not practical decision in relation to a geologic facility. The complexity and scale of ChNPP RAW management problems will require significant efforts of both Ukraine and the whole world community to solve these issues. The task related to removal and final burial of accumulated and generating radioactive waste is one of the main aspects of decommissioning activities at any nuclear power plant. RAW management work is the most important and complicated work performed at the Chornoby1 NPP. The specific features of ChNPP RAW management are as follows: • Variety of RAW generation sources, their types, physical and chemical properties. • Large amount of radioactive wastes which already exist and those generated in the decommissioning process. • Presence of disorganized RAW characterized by wide spatial distribution within the Unit Shelter and at the plant site. • Need to apply a very wide spectrum of various RAW management techniques depending on their location and type. • Need in developing unique techniques to manage special types of RAW located at the site (fuel containing masses of the Unit Shelter). • Large amount and variety of facilities required for RAW final storage. • Absence of reliable and serviceable instrumental procedures and necessary equipment to define RAW properties for RAW separation and classification. • Ecological peculiarities of RAW management within the Chornoby1 zone. • Multiphase decontamination and restoration processes resulting in RAW formation. • Need in integrating RAW management problems at the ChNPP and within the Chornoby1 Exclusion Zone taken as whole. • Long time period required for implementing the whole program of RAW management at the ChNPP. • Large quantity of people involved in RAW management process (local and foreign participants, different organization operated by various departments).
