Texto completoThis comparative research - in France and Poland - was conducted in Lyon and Cracow. The purpose of the work is social tourism for children, more specifically the “discovery classes” in France and the “green schools” in Poland, the school trips constituting both a life experience and a time of collective education. The object of the research is primary schools. The work is part of a broader problem of the acquisition of geographical knowledge. The subject of the research mobilizes the field of tourism since the practices that stem from it are ways and means of appropriation of space that individuals implement in the construction of representations of space. Through experience, the individual constructs an interior model of his or her environment. This research project studies the modalities of spatial learning. The objective is to understand if the experience of school trips modifies children’s spatial representations. To ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to build their own spatial capital, research also examines the influence on their representations of previous spatial mobility. In order to examine the children’s spatial representations, both discursive (questionnaires) and graphics data (mental maps) are mobilized. The research, carried out with 192 pupils in Lyon and Cracow, is related to two disciplines, geography and psychology. It is supported by the postulate of spatial representations within the framework of the paradigm of spatial production. The work is part of an approach to geography, in which the “espace vécu” is the central preoccupation

Texto completoThis thesis links up geography and religion. Religion, here, is not just a footnote in the analysis but constitutes the central matter of this work. The research work done here, starts from a contemporary paradox, particularly intense in western societies. The latter are under a growing secularization which implies the progressive obliteration of any religious reference in public space. Yet, for twenty years or so, the number of visitors in places of pilgrimage is increasing. This rise concerns not only the most famous pilgrimage centers such as Le Mont-Saint-Michel or Santiago de Compostela, invested with high historical and cultural values, but also some places of pilgrimage more recent and confidential (for instance L’Ile-Bouchard shrine). During a visit, the visitors’ spatial practices fluctuate between pilgrimage and tourism. These variations challenge the categories of “tourism” and “pilgrimage” which are usually kept separated in the French scientific literature. This hybridization of audiences and practices leads to consider the remonetization of the sacred value and the sacred spaces as a consequence of secularization. This thesis is based on a comparative study of spatial practices in several catholic places of pilgrimage in France, Bosnia Herzegovina, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Mexico and Portugal. The purpose here is to question once again the categorization of the practices of pilgrimage and tourism. This work also aims to study the spatial value. Spatial practices allow indeed to grab the representations of space built up by the visitors and these representations betray the values granted to the places by the same visitors. The evolution of the spatial form taken by the sacred value in a secular context, between resistance and resilience, is at stake here

Texto completoTourist imaginaries are strongly attached to geographical imaginaries. They are constructed through a process of representation where different mental images interact. These mental images are constructed from different information sources that we perceive in our daily lives. Information about places is disseminated through literature, painting, music, movies, television; tourist communication (brochures, posters, catalogs, postcards, photos, videos, television, guides); the experiences of others (travels, stories, etc.). All these idea-images of places circulate constantly on different scales (local, national, international) and shape our geographical and tourist imaginaries. As a result, tourism imaginaries are not fixed, they change over time, they are constantly reformulated or reaffirmed, they transform themselves.Today, with the globalization of tourism, which increases the competition between different territories, territorial actors are faced with the need to create attractive images in order to differentiate from other territories, in order to attract investments and tourists. However, the efforts made by territorial actors to create attractive images fail to give the expected results. This is the case of territories that are associated with negative images - war, violence, delinquency and risks – deeply rooted in the collective imaginary and which affect not only the geographical imaginary of the country concerned, but also that of their tourist destinations.Given these negative images, local actors of tourist destinations will build an image that enhances their own tourist attractions/attributes. However, at the same time, this eclipses its direct association with its own country, in other words, a deterritorialized image of the tourist destination. It is from this paradoxical situation that this thesis examines the construction, deconstruction and reconstruction process of geographical and tourist imaginaries, based on the analysis of a UNESCO World Heritage city, Cartagena de Indias, located in a country associated with negative images since a long time, Colombia. This research work proposes a double analysis, one focused on local actors and their strategies for producing tourist images, and the other on tourists as consumers and coproducers.Particular emphasis is put on the analysis of information from modern media (Internet and social networks) as they actively participate in the circulation of visual and textual content that shape geographical and tourist imaginaries

Texto completoThis thesis focuses on "the tourist mobility of Senegalese people within Senegal", with an emphasis on the link between holidays, holidays, leisure and tourist practices among Senegalese workers in Senegal. It aims to reflect Senegalese tourism practices, seen from the inside, by distinguishing itself from a "European-centred" vision of tourism. I opted for a qualitative approach based on semi-directive interviews with men and women employed in Senegal's public and private administrations. In the first part of the thesis, I propose a self-analysis that has allowed me to identify the problems of holidays and tourism based on a reflexive feedback on my own tourism practices and on my field practices. Not only has this relationship with the field generated "productive misunderstandings", in particular the emergence of a dual posture of "expert researcher" that I mobilized to maintain myself in the field and facilitate my access to the respondents, but it has also contributed to the formulation of hypotheses to analyze the vacation and tourism practices of Senegalese workers in Senegal. In the second part, I analysed the relationship between social times in the process leading to tourism practice. By looking at the way in which these different times interact and interpenetrate in the social life of employees, I have noted the "strategies" and "tactics" that Senegalese employees put in place in order to conquer the right to go on leave and negotiate their freedom from work activity. The socialization of employees, especially during holidays, has, in addition, a great involvement in the decision-making process of leaving or staying. Decisions taken by employees are based as much on the mobilization of values (altruism) to strengthen family ties as on the availability of financial resources and constraints related to the social and work environment. In the third part, I show that tourism practice is a process that results from internal influences, particularly from family, relatives, etc., but also from external influences such as Western tourists or diaspora relatives who come to spend holidays in Senegal. This has allowed me to highlight the role of the view of oneself and others in the construction of Senegalese identity through the way in which indigenous people put themselves in the shoes of travellers, tourists and expatriates who come to visit the country. As can also be the case during festive events such as the Magal de Touba, which encourages the movement of thousands of people throughout the country to go on pilgrimage. In this respect, Senegal's image is being reinvented by the Senegalese themselves. This leads to a change in the relationship with the country, with the nation, promoted by an awareness of their ability to show the country to each other, and in such a way as to make it exist before the eyes of all. Senegalese tourist identity is thus constructed through the practice of places under the influence of "significant others", who contribute to shaping, among Senegalese, another view of Senegal

Texto completoIn Tunisia, in the aftermath of the 2011 Revolution, many protected natural areas such as national and urban parks were severely degraded and vandalized. In parallel, in 2014, nature became a constitutional right and at the same time in the tourism sector, touristic offers more attuned to natural areas emerged. What do these contradictory behaviours tell us about Mankind/Nature relations in post-revolution Tunisian society? Our research focuses on the analysis of the social representations of nature, in particular "iconic" images, old and new, of nature (Part 1), the ambitions of public policies in terms of environmental protection that have followed one another since Independence, the environmental themes promoted by the actors of the post- revolution public debate (political, associative, media) (Part 2), as well as recent trends in Tunisian tourism and the new outdoor activities of the Tunisian people (Part 3)

Texto completoTourism, both a product and an agent of globalization, plays a central role in connecting people, cultures and economies, across borders. Globalization could lead to a standardization of tourists' behavior, all favoring the same places of frequentation and the same uses. This research therefore nourishes the intention to question the globalization of tourism, as a vector of homogenization of practices and representations, in the relation of the study of domestic and international tourism in Bali. Thus, we question the capacity of national cultural singularities to resist, in determining models of tourist practices, in a globalized world. Thereby, our methodology is based on a hybrid approach, combining qualitative and quantitative studies, through the prism of three perspectives: the offer of tour operators, the practices and representations of tourists, and the point of view of Balinese tourist guides. This research demonstrates that cultural singularities persist, and contribute to determining the specificity of places of frequentation, practices and associated values, according to the geocultural origin of vacationers. The globalization of tourism has not led to a homogenization of the frequentation of sites on the island, nor of the uses associated with them. On the contrary, the latter demonstrate great diversity. The globalized attraction of destinations can therefore hide a much more complex reality, relating to a combination of practices and representations, reflecting the socio cultural diversity of populations, which persist

Texto completoThe fall of walls and globalization have appointed new countries to open to the development of their tourism sector. At the heart of the Balkans, Albania, a former communist country, little known, even completely unknown, present both a destination and a blind spot in social sciences topic researches, a singularly challenging laboratory territory in terms of "(re) development of tourism" in a highly competitive market economy context and, this one, in the oldest tourist area in the world. Knowing during the 19-20th centuries her discovery and exploration travels, her tourist modernity’s before the Enver Hoxha’s era (1944-1991), which interrupted tourist development, that however have experienced its neighbors, Albania will face to his own weaknesses in terms of tourism development in the 21th century. This research aims to explore the historical density tourism practices - in successive political systems, to track since the nineteenth century the elements that have gradually created places, images and discourses of a "touristic Albania", constituting the material of a tourist offer, mobilized today by a plurality of actors and tourism ministries. Based on an approach considering a chronological diachronic approach through continuities and loss of discourse, this research reveals the construction of the first representations of travelers to Albania in the early 19th century, in order to present the image and Albanian tourism communication, both ancient and contemporary, based on a textual and iconographic analysis of tourist guides and new communication media. Representations and tourism practices of the Albanian youth in the 21th century, mobilized in a quantitative analysis by questionnaire focused in characteristics and construction through a process of the inversion of values

Texto completoThe main purpose of this thesis is to built a theoritical analysis to understand how tourism economy grows and structures. Theoritical approaches to the study of tourism economy bring an approach of tourism consumption which is a microeconomic point of view. This approach remains useful to understand many practices but it presents several limitations to highlight diversity of tourists, their demands and consumption. Despite theses results, the concept of consumption prevents from providing the knowledge of this services sector. Using the concept of "practices" is more relevant. But, practices varie by society, by social group and by historical period. We must develop a theoritical approach which allows an historical and social dimension. The theory of the "regulation" seems to be an adequate theory to integrate this dimension and more specifically the analysis of the standards of consumption. Thanks to this approach, we can understand the crisis of some tourism patterns. We have examined in particular the situation in spanish tourism at the end of the 80's
Ye, Jin. "Vers un nouveau "modèle touristique chinois" ? : l'exemple du district de Songyang (province du Zhejiang en Chine)". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Amiens, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022AMIE0094.
Texto completoTourism development in China has been, and still is, based on a "quantitative" model. However, the situation is changing, especially in rural and mountainous areas, with the Chinese government's focus on rural revitalization and the increasing number of new generations of middle-class tourists. This thesis proposes to examine whether a new "Chinese tourism model" is emerging, using Songyang County as the subject of this study, a rural and mountainous region located in one of the wealthiest and most innovative provinces. This is a "qualitative" model of tourism development, moving away from the "quantitative" or "mass" logic of standardization that has been described around Chinese tourism in the past. This thesis begins by emphasizing the fundamental role of the Chinese national government and analyzes the construction of "stereotypical" tastes in tourists' landscape aesthetics to highlight the active political, cultural and aesthetic context in rural tourism development. The role of outsider urban investors and architects, as bearers of urban values and perspectives, in tourism and territorial image building has been discussed. However, we question the role of high quality rural accommodation and architecture as levers for the revelation and development of the territory. This thesis then analyzes the tourism practices of Chinese tourists in the countryside. We also question the "rusticity" and "authenticity" sought by tourists. This work is also relevant to show the exemplary and experimental value of the Songyang model to other rural areas facing development difficulties

Texto completoAs an emerging destination, China has been experiencing in recent years a very strong growth in regards to the international arrivals, including tourists from France. Many tour-operators in France have developped China as destination and have drawn up a number of products under various forms so that the French tourists have diverse ways to organize their trips to China. However, few studies have been dealt with the French's tourism in China, and what they are doing in this destination is still not clear yet. Hence, we try to focus on it through a study on the French tourists' touristic practices in China, which are embodied in three aspects such as touristic space visited and touristic activities practiced by them, as well as their choices of ways to organize the trips. According to our survey conducted in Yangshuo among the French tourists, it is mainly about an urban tourism and a cultural tourism due to the dominance of urban space and cultural activities in their visit in this country. Moreover, the French tourists enroll especially in organized trips which are assumed by the touristic mediators to get access to this destination. Some explanations are offered from the perspectives of Chinese alterity and the tourists' touristic capital so as to clarify how their choices were made regarding to the ways to organize their trips to China. This dissertation shows finally that the touristic capital plays an active role in the fulfillment of touristic projects through its influence on tourists' choice of ways to organize their trips

Texto completoUkraine, as an object and a field of study, has a double challenge, both scientific and operational. This country, remaining still unattractive to European customers for its tourist and heritage resources, wishes to embark on a process of improving its positioning on the tourist market by drawing inspiration from French practices and expertise. This doctoral research therefore has two necessarily interlinked components: firstly, the study and analysis of Ukrainian tourism and heritage systems, and secondly, the proposals based on French know-how, intended to participate in Ukrainian research in this field. The current geopolitical context of the Ukrainian territory since November 2013 and its worsening during the 2014–2015 period has influenced the development and the established areas, but even more in the context of the problems initially posed. That development, initially focused on the strategies of the Ukrainian tourism sector starting from the example of 4 territories including Crimea, in fact was reoriented towards the study of cultural heritage as an Ukrainian tourist resource in order to develop a new tourist segment. Two approaches are used in order to identify points of tourism attraction in Ukraine for foreign tourists and the territorial markers necessary for establishing niche tourism. The first one is to find the means to objectively define the "image" of the country and its territories; the second one is to characterize the heritage elements likely to contribute to better Ukrainian visibility. These approaches have required the relevant delimitation and analysis of several corpuses: travel guides, lists of classified cultural heritage, questionnaires among tourists.Geopolitical changes and tensions in Ukraine have significantly disrupted access to data: some of them have completely disappeared. First of all, there are the tourist statistics of certain regions in tension (Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea regions). In addition, the lists of classified cultural heritage have undergone transformations following the so-called "de-Sovietization" laws, leading to the abolition of heritage lists from the Soviet period. This "de-patrimonialization" also concerns certain monuments and heritage objects considered as "bearing the ideology of the communist regime". Finally, this difficulty of access to sources that are comparable over time on a national scale, such as official depatrimonialisation movement, has led to a partial repositioning of the research issues, with old and new heritages mobilizing the question of memory and Ukrainian identity in a different way.The diachronic approach used in explaining the tourism and institutional heritage evolutions has been put into perspective over a longer period of time. This is how the exploration and analysis of travel guides since the beginning of the XXth century has made it possible to resituate more widely the representations and discourses relating to tourism and therefore to Ukrainian identity through its heritage.Data representation work - graphs, synoptic tables, maps – has been carried out to better visualize the comparative elements, in their diachrony as well as in their spatializations. It has contributed to a diagnosis highlighting the disparities relating to tourist flows, territorial markers as well as classified heritage objects. These analyses lead to some recommendations for the implementation of niche tourism, centered on the articulation of tourist-heritage offers, based on accessible statistical data, but with a concern for vigilance as to their reliability

Texto completoThe purpose of this thesis is to understand the masculine practices, representations and expectations about contraception. It is part of several sociologies (family, intimacy, gender, sexuality, science, body, health) and creates a new "interactionist" type of perspective. In other words, the contraceptive behaviour of men should be perceived as dynamic and in relation with the female partner. From an overall qualitative approach, which gives priority to an inductive and understanding starting point, this thesis will show that men's involvement in contraception, and mostly their ability to change, partly depend on the women who are part of their social, sexual and conjugal environment. On the one hand, the interviews of (26) men, (23) women health specialists (16) and men of Ardecom (2) show that a process increases men's awareness of contraception. During this learning process, women play the role of initiators (friends or sisters), educators (mother) or prescribers (partner). On the other hand, their involvement which stands at the crossroads of the intimate, private and public spheres of their life, means that men need to find another social and symbolic place, which includes a reappropriation phase
Monnin, Éric. "L'olympisme : pratiques et représentations en milieu scolaire". Besançon, 2007. http://www.theses.fr/2007BESA1018.
Texto completoQuestions inevitably arise from the growth of the olympic phenomenon along with the general fervour it creates around the globe. To answer them one should look back to the times of ancient Greece when the Olympic Games appeared; thus, one gets a better understanding of what Pierre de Coubertin had in mind when he revived them in 1896. He coined the neologism “olympism” and wished to promote gatherings of peace-minded people from all over the world. But the nature of modern olympism is a complex one, partaking of myth, utopia and ideology. Each of these aspects should be investigated if one wants to grasp how they are perceived in today’s society. Few studies have been made on the theme of olympism in the educational milieu, which offers much scope for research work. Conducting an investigation has proved to be an adequate tool for understanding the practices and perceptions related to olympism among the pupils and physical education teachers in secondary schools. To that end, a survey has been carried out through questionnaires; 273 answers from pupils and 82 from teachers have been collected in the local education authority of Besançon. Processing these answers has made it possible to gauge the gap between the practices and perceptions of the two target groups. Analysing that survey is a real opportunity to reflect on the olympic system and to put forth explanatory hypotheses on the perception of that phenomenon in the educational milieu

Texto completoQuestioning adoption, in a context of a controversial evolution of the representations of parenthood in Tunisia, compels one to dwell upon the social, cultural and legal backgrounds where it belongs. Social discourse on adoption continues to promote the idea of a dichotomy of parenthood, divided between biological parenthood - "blood" or "natural" parenthood- and social parenthood - "emotional" or "heart-based" parenthood. Based on accounts of adoptive parents and adoptees, we tried to identify the different dimensions of the experience of adoption and of the relationships within the adoptive parenthood. In building a relationship of adoption, representations appear as a primary mediator. The study of the various points raised directly questions the role of multi parenting through the practices and representations of adoptive kinship in a socio-political movement. It also allows to determine the relationship between genealogy and subjectivity in the process of identity construction

Texto completoLike many other countries, Kenya adopted ecotourism in the 1990s as a strategy to address environmental and development problems facing many of her tourism destinations. Today, close to two decades later, most of the problems that this new strategy sought to address still persist and most often they outshine the efforts of putting into place sustainable tourism practices. In the most popular protected areas (national parks and national reserves) where ecotourism is practised, there exist many contradictions where unsustainable practices associated with conventional tourism or mass tourism and many local community practices coexists side by side with sustainable practices associated with ecotourism. This situation is complicated further by the cutthroat competition between the various actors for nature based tourism businesses and a lack of clear government policy on which of the two forms of tourism the country should follow. The overall outcome is a do-it-your-way type of tourism practice in most destination areas. This thesis analyses the contradictory state of affairs as ecotourism and mass tourism compete for space and exploitation of natural resources thus creating a situation of overlapping unsustainable and sustainable tourism practices that distorts the common notion of Kenya as a true ecotourism destination. The analysis then concludes that the tensions between these two forms of tourism only serves to further confuse the realisation of sustainable ecotourism goals of generating benefits to local people and conserving environment in tourism destination areas. Eventually therefore, most of the Kenyan tourism destinations can only be regarded as “mass ecotourism destinations” contrary to the notion of ecotourism often presented in the marketing strategies of these destinations

Texto completoTourism contributes more than 15% of Tunisia's national GDP (WTTC, 2017: p 1). This sector, since its creation in the mid-seventies, has always been one of the most important engines of the country's economy. Since the beginning of the two thousand years, the model, based on the marketing of classic products [4 S: sea, sun, sand (beach), sand (desert)] to a predominantly Western clientele, has reached saturation. During this period, the fall began to feel until reaching a critical situation aggravated by the terrorist events that the country suffered in 2015. To cope with this situation, the actors of the sector went to exhaust in their strategic reserve that was nothing but the national tourist and the Maghreb tourist, mainly Algerians and Libyans: immediate neighbors of Tunisia. Currently, these tourists represent the nationalities most present in post-revolution Tunisia. This doctoral thesis examined the subject through the use of analyzes of official statistical documents, interviews with the various actors who act on the Tunisian tourism sector, observations targeting several major tourist sites in the Tunis metropolis and a statistical survey. The targeted tourist population is rich and varied since it concerns Tunisians (national tourists), Algerians, Libyans, Moroccans, Mauritanians and the Maghreb diaspora, which comes mainly from countries outside the territory of the Greater Maghreb, mainly 'West. As a result, we began by refuting the thesis adopted by Western researchers claiming that access to tourism for developing societies is a recent phenomenon. Subsequently, we presented how these Maghreb tourists consume the space of Greater Tunis and in what places they focus. The thesis also made it possible to draw profiles of Maghreb tourists. This profiling is based on the age, gender, socio-professional category and country of origin of the tourist. In other words, this analysis meets the needs of a current national and North African tourist population, but it also considers itself a strategic study for the tourist population of the future: young adults and adults who will be older

Texto completoThe representations of victims in the media were analyzed in more general researches on the social reactions to the crime, but more rarely in the intrinsic mechanisms of the relation media-victims; an interaction which, let us imagine, possesses his own dynamics. Our theoretical reflection took support on an approach which journalistic exercise is considered as material and symbolic production based on interactions and social standards. The social logics determine the functioning of the journalistic practices through the various forms of interactions and dependences between the journalists and the society to which they belong. These engender representations which result from interpretations elaborated by the journalists of the social environment. The media space which seems accessible to the victims is it, really, only for a certain type of victims. We assist, obviously, a media exploitation targeted by the suffering of the victims and the representations which they embody. Besides, the exaggerated attention carried to the victims contributes to provoke a discursive formatting where several media impose their own specific railings on the reading of the "reality" which is other one than the way she treats the subjects of their preoccupation. This media exploitation of the suffering knows in his turn a second political exploitation. From there, it is not surprising any more to confuse “true” and “false” victims since the media validation of the suffering, got back by a “political doggedness”, seems to get the upper hand over the judicial and\or medical pledge. We have to hope that the " media due skids " in the conformist treatment and compassionnel to these victims, stressed by evident trade and political interests, will allow a questioning of the journalistic practices. A return towards ethical rules, among which media and journalists will assure the application and the respect, seems inevitable

Texto completoSince the beginning of the history of tourism in China, the mountains have always been a place visited by Chinese tourists. For them, the mountains are not an unknown place ; they have always had various images of them linked to some special values. This led to various representations of the space among the Chinese society. With the evolution of these representations, one of the most representative forms, the landscape, has also come up since the fifth century in China. The Chinese people started to learn how to appreciate the beautiful scenery of mountain with aesthetic taste. The landscape as a spatial representation has evolved and it has also influenced the human being’s activities, just like tourism. One of the first tourist practices is contemplation of mountain landscape. These representations of mountains are not always fixed. Some new touristic activities like hiking have changed Chinese people’s aesthetic tastes Thus, this paper focuses on the interaction of the representations of mountains, especially the mountain landscape and the evolution of tourism practices, : how the representations of the mountains occur the beginning of touristic practices, which values they are attached to and how the evolution of tourism brings changes to the mountain representations in China

Texto completoThe dissertation focuses on the recent transformations of the Maramures, rural communities in the context of the widespread post-communist practice of lodging tourists in inhabited houses or in specially designed rural pensions. The tourism industry that produces mass tourism and the process of institutionalization of tourism in rural areas which operates under the conventional economic rules will remain out of the scope of the dissertation. I plan to unveil and investigate the many facets of rural tourism in Maramures and understand this phenomenon as one of the factors of social, cultural and especially identity change within the rural communities of Maramures. I strove to identify the inhabitants of rural Maramures who are engaged in this type of activities. I will insist on the way the owners of tourist pensions in Maramures "sell" their identity to tourists, and on how some "cultural" elements that are part of their traditional domestic environment - festive clothes or cuisine - are converted into tourist attractions. The challenge was to understand how the identity of Maramures peasants - formely so entrenched in their daily life experiences - transformed itself under the current conditions of rural tourism into "capital" to exploit and invest in tourist activities. The study is based on a contextual and interpretative approach, with a special emphasize on the meaning given by the owner of pensions to their practices and their representations in the presnece of hosted tourists

Texto completoOrient, beaches and castles. Toutist practices, impressions and policy in spain between 1830 and 1928 sets out to prove the diversity of spanish tourism over a long period. Side by side with romantic tourism (1830-1860), this study paves the way to discovering the recreational activities that accompanied both "taking the waters" - a practice which was not very widespread in spain- and medicinal bathing is its early stages, mainly in the bay of cadiz and along the coasts of the basque and alicante regions. At this time, owing the medical precepts and the taste for exploring, the discovery of the principal mountain ranges also took place : the pyrenees, the sierra nevada and the picos de europa. The completion of the main railway lines marked a threshold in the development of tourism, as regards both quantity and quality. Detailed statistics concerning the transport of travellers from one station to another on the madrid-irun line between 1876 and 1882 make it possible to find out which were the chosen destinations. Santander, but above all san sebastian were more often chosen than towns with monuments. An analysis of the statistics drawn up by san sebastian town council concerning visitors and residents between 1886 and 1925 enables us to follow the evolution of the number of turists. A study of the town's tourist policy shows the initiatives taken, the choices made and the deficiencies that remained. An analysis of the first initiatives taken by the state (comision nacional, 1905 ; comisaria regia de turismo, 1911) clearly shows the priority given to cultural tourism, a mistrust of the private sector and abortive attempts at development. The study ends at the time of the founding of the patronato nacional de turismo (1928), an organization wich will be analysed later

Texto completoThis study tries to understand the popular and bourgeois forms of social organization in the 19th century Lyon. The people don't exist in a sociological sense but take shape through shared behaviors. The "bourgeoisies" also exist as a group with common attitudes. But between them, there is a real gap of sensitivities; furthermore, the power represented by the "bourgeoisies" tries to impose its own norms. The power's normative project wants to cover the entire society in order to control it - old idea whose application could not be possible before the 19th century, in particular through lack of a good police system ; however, if a control is exerted, the total monitoring remains a chimera. Popular "self regulation", as for it, leads to the existence of norms which have to be followed by all ; their respect is ensured by the neighborhood which arbitrates disagreements by its presence and possible reactions. These two ways of managing the social operate in a same way but there is a gap between them, because the power's threshold of tolerance is lower than the people one hence disagreements, conflicts, deceits and also agreements and modus vivendi. Beyond all these relations of power, one of the lessons of this study is that the 19th century urban society cannot be come down to a falling of the "Ancien Régime" nor content itself to be the prelude to the modernity of the next century. This urban society has got its own logics which seem to disintegrate from the 1880's

Texto completoOccitan, historic language of a large part of Aquitaine is threatened. Today. Practices, representations, and public bill of this minority language, enable to assess its actual position. Sociolinguistic surveys conducted in the region, and the comparative ones, conducted in other occitan areas, highlight a minor intergenerational transmission. However, according to the interviews, the answers to the questionnaires dispatched to the culture officials and the detailed account of the associations, a real vitality appears. The description of institutional measures reveals the obstacles linked to the lack of official recognition of the regional languages in France. Integrating all these facts, Fishman’s scale (GIDS) gives a synthetic vision of the language that allows to assess the stage of threat which hangs over. This diagnosis then takes place in a Reversing Language Shift and prepares a thought about language planning for occitan in Aquitaine

Texto completoToday, as french housing is becoming « sustainable », it is time to question ourselves about the practice of alternative conceptions, like geobiology and fengshui. Two points of view are at stake : professional pratices and representations of the relation between environment and human being. What are this practices and representations developed by geobiology and fengshui practioners ? What can these traditional conceptions tell us about the prevalent environmental approach ? Which connexions possibly exist between them ?Two situations seem to shap : the geobiology and fengshui practitioners would have a holist and monist perception of the environment-humain being relation, while the architects of the environmental approach would have a naturalist one. Three main corpus compound the empirical research : 45 interviews with practitioners, an analysis of 18 reference books, and an analysis of 9 archtectural projects, all coming from the three housing conceptions studied.Rupture biographic paths and near professional practices for the geobiology and fengshui, varied representations of environment and human being clustered around big types, existence of a « transfer » phenomenon wich leads to the definition of qualititve ad ethical ways of being, or « habitabilities », are the main results of this reseach. Geobiology and fengshui are certainly able to interrogate architectural and urban production, as our ecology. It was the final goal of this reseach, which lies on diferent sociology fields, and tries to propose a multidsciplinary look which aimes at the definition of a philosophy of live-in and a socio-anthropology of housing

Texto completoPremarital sexuality in Morocco faces a triple illegitimacy (religious, legal and social). However, despite being forbidden by norms, it exists in Morocco. This study attempts to decode the ways of thought, living and verbalization of premarital sexuality in the country despite the restrictive normative framework. It aims to analyze it in its different aspects: representations, social and media discourse, verbalization, the normative framework, the socialized money making observed outside the traditional professionalization of sex framework, new trends linkedto technological changes and their impact on sexuality, sex education, the significance and impact of the first sexual intercourse, the influence of demographic and socio-economic dynamics on sexuality and finally sexual and emotional gender relations. Its main objective is to shed light on social realities that discourse and normative representations are trying to play down. The goal is not to legitimize socially rejected sexual practices, but to understand them

The school library is understood as a documentary space both in a physical and digital way. Its use is academic, information-related, but also social. Use and representations are studied spatially. In this dimension, the actors are seen as individuals with a spatial ability of their own, who experience the documentation space : indeed, beyond sheer visual aspects, we look into the dynamics of the space as it is said to be experienced. The methodology used is qualitative. Semi-directed interviews are carried out with school librarians and students in five middle schools. Participative photo elicitation interviews allow us to show the different visions of the documentary space that the various actors may have. The analysis of the results shows different kinds of documentation landscapes, created by both professionals and students in their everyday use

Texto completoThis thesis focuses on the business corporation in France between its formal appearance in the law in the Commercial Code of 1807 and the Act of July 1867 that removes any government authorization previously requested for the creation of such company. The société anonyme has often been described as the necessary support of modern industrial capitalism, particularly in that it would have allowed significant concentration of capital. By observing closely the practices of different actors, this thesis aims to revise this representation, seeking to replace the public company in the political economy of the first half of the nineteenth century. This approach includes a research on the origins of the société anonyme – which we do not consider as a product of capitalist modernity – and a reassessment of the role of the state, which is one of the main users of this business form and whose intervention is necessary for the viability of such an institution. At a more general level, this thesis aims at questioning the interaction between law and economy, highlighting a process of construction and legal learning based on an ongoing dialogue between the existing law, the uses that are made of it and the State’s actions

Texto completoFrom his first novel Ghostwritten in 1999 to his most recent (Utopia Avenue in 2020), contemporary British author David Mitchell has tried to build a unique and interconnected world of fiction which keeps growing with each new publication. This desire for continuity can also be seen in the coherence of his themes, among which the question of communication and languages stands prominently. This recurring leitmotif prompted us to examine the notion of translation throughout his work. This thesis will examine three aspects of the writer in relation to translation: the translator characters in his fiction, his experience as a translator, and the translation of his works. Each of these parts highlights the uniqueness of this artist in regards to translation. His novels resurrect the historical interpreters of the Japanese tradition, the Oranda tsujis of the 17th century, and showcase such figures as polyglot immortals and amateur translators, new archetypes which have not or rarely been explored in the field of the fictional turn of the translator. David Mitchell's own experience as a professional translator is just as special, in his choice to share with the world (and with the help of his wife Keiko Yoshida) an English version of The Reason I Jump, the memoir of a young non-verbal autistic teenager called Naoki Higashida. The complex genesis of the original work, as well as the motivations - namely filial love - behind his translation, make it a fascinating object of study, as much in the field of ethics as neurology. This section will also explore another of David Mitchell's lesser-known but nonetheless original translations: his participation in the collaborative project Multiples, an international exercise in relay translation. The final part of this PhD thesis will explore the ways in which Manuel Berri — David Mitchell's unofficial assigned translator since the start of his career — has risen to the challenge of his surprisingly tricky prose. We will analyse how he managed to overcome such obstacles as implicit cultural references, neologisms and the orality of non-standard English, whether by using translator's notes (which we are trying to legitimise) or, more often, by using his creativity to convey all the versatility of our author in the French language. This thesis will conclude with an exclusive interview of David Mitchell himself, in which he offers us his views on translation and reveal some of his future translation-related projects, proving once again how much this obsession keeps haunting his literary output

Texto completoLinguistic habits in the north of Ille et Vilaine reveal mixtures between the local " langue d'Oïl " called gallo and french. The typological closeness of the two linguistic styles often leads the speakers to be unaware that they are switching or mixing from on code to the other. The sociolinguistic and communicational parameters sometimes hinder the use of regional phrases or sentences, but the speakers and in particular children at school, regularly produce a stigmatized in-between language. The main impact of the language représentations correlates with diglossia and vice versa. This diglossia has significantly weakened the speakers' self confidence and created linguistic insecurity. Schools have had a major role in this negative phenomenon, hence, as it is proposed here, the didactic methods should be adapted and based on French as Foreign Language, in order to consider the schoolchildren's first language. A pedagogy which helps the learners to be aware of these linguistic interferences is developed here, in order for them to be able to acquire and manage to use the required Standard French of the Department of Education

Step by step, a rational administration of the touristic space becomes organized, which embodies for instance in the experts or scientific discourses. The actual and contemporary practices of french tourists are analyzed through a secondary exploitation of statistic data from the national institute of statistics and economic studies (insee), relating to french holidays during the year 1990. Finally, the touristic trip constitues the actualization of a mental disposition based on distance and unconcern, closely related to social conditions of urban life, a disposition which impregnates most of everyday practices
