Texto completoOur proposed PhD thesis aims to provide a better understanding of the role of corporate culture and the psychological profile of the leader in Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) of French SMEs. The nature of the research remains in the original french literature. Indeed, the research work on the EO have tended to focus mainly in the Anglo-Saxon literature. The main interest of our thesis are:1) to highlight specific actions that would develop a culture conducive to entrepreneurship;2) to encourage the vocation of the leaders in their entrepreneurial approach ;3) to gain insight into the determinants of economic and financial performance of entrepreneurial firms;4) to specify the characteristics of french SMEs through the approach of configurations. To meet these goals, we built a specific key question: How corporate culture and psychological profile of the leader affect the entrepreneurial orientation of french SMEs and their performance? To conduct this research, we opted for a quantitative empirical study through a questionnaire administered to managers of SMEs of Chambre Régionale de Commerce et d’Industrie of Nord-Pas-de Calais and Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie of Beaujolais. We have collected 123 complete responses. To achieve the treatment analysis, we used the approach of linear regression with the software STATA.11 to test the nature of the relationship between key variables in our study. In the second part of analysis, we used the approach of the configurations with hierarchical ascendant components method, in order to specify the caracteristics of french SMEs.Regarding the first hypothesis, the results of the quantitative empirical study shows that entrepreneurial culture and the group culture are associated with innovation, proactive and risk-taking activities. Conversely, the hierarchical culture is negatively associated with the entrepreneurial activities. The second hypothesis about the psychological profile, the leaders who have a locus of external control appear to contribute positively to the process of OE. We have shown that these leaders lead their firms to achieve better performance. The need for achievement of the leader is also related to the orientation of the firms to entrepreneurial activities.Regarding the third hypothesis, we have shown that the entrepreneurial activities of the SMEs contribute to the improvement of its economic and financial performance. In the second part of this study, we tested our conceptual model with the approach of configurations. Our objective is to propose a taxonomy of SMEs according to the intensity of the EO. The analysis of hierarchical ascendant components have shown three types of SMEs: 1) entrepreneurial SMEs, 2) conservative SMEs and 3) emerging SMEs

Texto completoEntrepreneurial theories can explain the great variety of agricultural diversifications by adding the influence of the profile of the manager's performance to the usual analytical propositions. According to a first study of 6 cases , these postulates remain valid in agriculture provided that the specific contingencies peculiar to the sector are taken into account, stemming from a specialized and productivist dominant model, which conditions the strategic vision and the difficulty to diversify. The profile of the manager so revised in term of economic preferences and social references, will explain the diversity of choices of diversifications of 15 firms analysed on a trajectory of more than 10 years. The sector-based vision remains determining, especially for the follower, but the proactive-supply often makes it possible to get rid of the competing and cultural pressures of the environment. Moreover, it appears that profiles and contexts evolve with time

Texto completoOmid, Mahshid. "How sales promotions influence impulse buying : the critical role of affect and cognition". Doctoral thesis, Université Laval, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11794/28202.
Texto completoAlthough past research demonstrates that a significant percentage of impulsive purchases come from sales promotions, no studies to date have examined the psychological mechanisms leading to this influence. To better understand the role of sales promotions in impulse buying situations, this dissertation aims to address this critical gap. To this end, first of all, we investigate cognitive-affective-behavioural processes underlying the influence of sales promotions on impulsive purchases. Further, we examine the moderating role of sales promotions category on these processes. Finally, we study how these processes differ among consumers with different personality traits. This dissertation adopts a cognitive-affective approach to impulse buying. It claims that cognitive deliberation also plays a mediating role between external stimuli and impulse buying behaviour, although affective reactions would have more influence. Emotions towards promotions are defined in terms of subjective feeling states experienced by consumers at a given point of time towards a promotion. Clusters of emotions with the same polarity are referred to as either positive or negative promotion affect. Promotion cognition is defined as the evaluative meaning of a sales promotion in terms of the benefits that can be derived out of it with the purchase of the promoted product. We investigate the mediating role of promotion affect and promotion cognitions in impulse buying process of promoted products. We also examine the relevance of the construct of promotion affect by studying whether promotion affect and promotion cognition play complementary or redundant roles in predicting consumer impulsive behaviour. Our results reveal that two separate coexisting mechanisms, affect transfer and cognitions, are the underlying foundations of impulse buying decisions of promoted products. Consistent with the Appraisal theory, cognitive evaluation of the benefits of a promotion prompts consumer affective responses. This promotion affect in turn mediates the influence of promotion cognitions on consumer impulse buying behaviour. Past research finds that consumer impulsive responses to promotions differ from a sales promotion category to other. However, the cause underlying this difference is still understudied in the literature. This dissertation aims to address this gap. It attributes this difference to the fact that psychological antecedents vary between purchases of products promoted with different types of promotions. Therefore, it examines the moderating role of sales promotion category on the process of impulse buying. The results confirm this role. They demonstrate that impulsive purchase of a product promoted by a non-monetary sales promotion is an all pleasure act; hedonic promotion cognitions and positive promotion affect that consumers experience have a significant influence on their impulsive purchase. On the other hand, in the case of monetary sales promotions, consumers make a cost-benefit evaluation where they also consider their utilitarian cognitions and negative affect that they may experience towards the sales promotion. The role of consumer personality traits is emphasized in both the impulse buying and behavioural pricing literature. To contribute to this understanding, this dissertation investigates the role of consumer personality traits in cognitive-affective triggers of impulsive promotional responses. Two consumer personality traits related to consumers’ attention and reaction to sales promotions and their propensity to make impulsive purchases are buying impulsiveness trait and deal-proneness trait. The results confirm that these traits influence affect and cognition that consumers experience towards promotions. They also moderate the process of impulse buying. Moreover, the results of our analysis about the relationship between buying impulsiveness and deal-proneness traits show that although both traits result in increased buying urges and impulsive purchases, they differ in focus and underlying affective and cognitive reactions. Impulsive consumers make impulsive purchases due to their strong reward seeking tendency, whereas the impulsive purchase of deal-prone consumers is a deliberative act of self-indulgence to gain from utilitarian benefits of promotional offers. This dissertation makes important contributions to the behavioural pricing and impulse buying literature. Our results demonstrate how sales promotions encourage consumers to purchase on impulse. We also confirm that promotion affect is a previously overlooked standalone predictor of consumer promotional responses. Moreover, sales promotion category and consumer personality traits are found to moderate cognitive-affective-behavioural triggers of impulsive promotional purchases. Finally, managerial implications are provided and it is discussed how to manipulate sales promotion characteristics in order to encourage impulsive purchases across consumers with different levels of buying impulsiveness and deal-proneness traits. Keywords: Buyer behaviour, Impulse buying, Sales promotion, Emotional response, Promotion affect, Cognitive response, Promotion Cognition, Buying impulsiveness trait, Deal-proneness trait

Texto completoStart-ups' represent a large pool of job and wealth creation. The high heterogeneity of their trajectories raises questions about the factors behind the growth process. Most previous research on this issue highlights the central role of the entrepreneur, primarily in terms of ability to lose control within the company and motivation for growth. This research is embedded in the broader conception of corporate governance that calls for taking into account simultaneously disciplinary and cognitive views of governance. This study analyzes the 2,703 entrepreneurs' profiles of start-ups which have been supported by the French Ministry in charge of Research between 1999 and 2012. The main objective is to understand the relationship between entrepreneurs' representations in terms of growth and governance and the trajectories of their firms. The results show the existence of four types of entrepreneurs. The independent entrepreneurs have a cognitive approach to corporate governance and consider that shareholders should have an enabling power by bringing skills, knowledge and network to the firm. They expect that growth could offer them greater independence, and are at the head of a company having experienced some growth in the past; they are still more motivated to continue to grow. The collective entrepreneurs have a hybrid approach to governance, centered primarily on managerial disciplinary role of shareholders but also on their cognitive contributions. These entrepreneurs only see growth in a positive way and, unlike independent entrepreneurs, if their company has not yet experienced growth, they are highly motivated for growth. The entrepreneurs-managers have only a disciplinary financial governance view; they anticipate growth as a way to consolidate the company that has seen its size greatly increased in the past. Their motivation to growth is also very high. Finally, self-centered entrepreneurs accord only extremely small role to shareholders; they have a negative view of growth, are at the head of a company which has no past growth and do not want to change in the future. To conclude, we observe a strong relationship between entrepreneurs' representations in terms of governance and growth, and the trajectories of the start-ups they lead

Texto completoAutism is an universal neurodevelopmental disorder, that concerns all ages, levels of development and countries. The heterogeneity of developmental profiles of these children often studied classically concerns either children without intellectual disabilitiy or specific cognitive and social functions. Our research goal is to determine the developmental profile of children with autism with a significant developmental delay and from several countries. We assume that these children have a more heterogeneous profile compared to typical children of similar age of development regardless of their country of origin. Therefore we analyzed the results of developmental assessments conducted with BECS of 301 children with autism and 121 typical children from seven countries of three continents (Algeria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Greece and Spain). The results confirm the presence of a more heterogeneous development in children with autism than in typical children. The existence of correlations between the heterogeneous profiles and age, level of development and severity of symptoms is also highlighted. The development of evaluation tools like BECS allow better understanding of the development of children with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability

Texto completoThis PhD thesis is dedicated to stress in French. At the onset of our research work, we made the hypothesis that stress in French had a multi-dimensional nature, and were tied in with psychological, social, cultural, physiological, pragmatic, cognitive and linguistic factors. This hypothesis was challenged and validated after studying the corpus which we had pieced together. The scientific aim of this work was to seek new approaches and methods, and use them in the study of stress in the French language with correlation to or in opposition with its context.40 individuals representative by their physiological, social, cultural, linguistic, and psychological features took 5 different tests, which brought to light their speech patterns in various discursive situations. As anticipated by the initial hypothesis, the following came out of the study:4. there is a correlation between an individual’s psychological profile and the stress;5. there is a correlation between an individual’s social and economic background and the stress;6. there is a correlation between an individual’s linguistic background and the stress. The new discovery which came out of our studies shows a correlation between the individual’s psychological profile and the substance of the stress that he produces. It opens up new scientific field which wasn’t exploited before now and enables us to define an individual’s psychological profile based on his/her employed stress nature, as well as to define a stress substance using the individual’s psychological profile. The results obtained as part of our scientific research open up new possibilities in linguistics, pragmatic, psycholinguistic, and sociolinguistic
