Qo‘ldoshev, Avezmurodovich Rustambek. "“PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF LEFT-HANDEDNESS: CONCEPT, CAUSES, AND PECULIARITIES”". Psychology and Education Journal 58, n.º 1 (20 de enero de 2021): 4981–88. http://dx.doi.org/10.17762/pae.v58i1.1719.

Texto completo
Resumen
Left-handed is a characteristic of individual typological features of a person. At the present stage of society, solving a number of psychological problems in the traditional educational process, it is important to investigate psychophysiological peculiarities and specificity of causes of the laterality pattern’s formation in junior schoolchildren. Children with a left-sided profile are not a homogeneous group. Among the causes of left-handedness are the following: heredity or genetic left-handedness (as an individual congenital characteristic), pathological or compensatory (as a result of the compensation mechanism), forced or acquired (as a result of injury to the right hand or retraining). Recent studies describe how left-handers differ greatly from right-handed schoolchildren in their mental development, world’s perception, prevailing thinking strategies and specificity of emotional-affective expression. The reasons for this are manifold. However, the key factor is the inextricable and intimate connection of the left-handedness and the hemispheric dominance that leads to a specific functional organization, of the brain work. This means that the left-handed brain works and complies by some other rules in comparison with right-handed people. As a result they have some educational peculiarities and difficulties. In most cases, these children have difficulties in mastering oral and written language skills, numeracy and mathematical operations. A characteristic feature of left-handers is the insufficient and specific development of visual perception, which normally creates the basis for mastering reading and writing. Unfortunately children with left handedness do not receive adequate assistance in school, since education and upbringing are focused on right handed people. It is also shown that «traditional» retraining in early childhood can lead to distress, which has a negative impact on the children. Therefore, it is necessary to include in the educational process special methods and techniques. Thus it will be a favorable condition for their harmonious personal and intellectual development and effective mastering of various modules of the school curriculum. This article presents a theoretical model analysis of the causes and consequences of the development of sinistrality, briefly considered the psychological characteristics of left-handed children.

Hitomi, Taichi, Chigusa Yachi y Hajime Yamaguchi. "An Experiment on the Psychological and Physiological Effects of Skin Moisturization on Lower Legs—In Expectation of Application to Nursing Practice at Hospitals". Behavioral Sciences 8, n.º 10 (30 de septiembre de 2018): 91. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/bs8100091.

Resumen
This study hypothesized that moisturizing treatment of the skin has a positive effect on psychological and physiological aspects. In this experiment, the effect of touch with moisturizer for two minutes on the lower legs was measured in terms of brain activity, heart rate, and center of gravity unrest (X axis) in 10 healthy male and female experiment participants. The Right Laterality Ratio Score decreased after treatment, suggesting a relaxation effect of the treatment. Although it was not statistically significant, a decrease was observed. Heart rate decreased after the treatment at a level of statistical significance (p < 0.01), suggesting a relaxation effect of the treatment. Center of gravity unrest (X axis) increased after the treatment with statistical significance (p < 0.05). Therefore, skin moisturizing treatment was found to be effective both psychologically and physiologically in this experiment. The finding is expected to be applied to the field of nursing to support elderly people to enhance their mental well-being and balancing ability.

Resumen
In the present paper, I selectively review a series of studies conducted in our laboratory over the last decade related to brain laterality, both experimentally and clinically. The studies reviewed have for most part utilized the dichotic listening and visual half-field techniques for lateralizing stimulus presentations. Three major conceptual distinctions in brain laterality are discussed in the paper: hemispheric specialization versus hemispheric activation, functional versus structural laterality, and hardwired versus dynamic modulatory laterality. A fourth distinction is between cognitive and physiological laterality. It is argued in the paper that left-right asymmetrical function is not only related to perceptual/cognitive functions subserved by the cortical hemispheres, but also involves subcortical structures and peripheral physiology, including the autonomic and endocrine systems. Thus, although research on laterality has been in the mainstream of general psychology and neuropsychology for the last 30-50 years, we have still probably only uncovered the tip of the iceberg with respect to the psychological processes and systems that are related to the asymmetrical structure and function of the brain.

Resumen
The article exposes the identity of the destructive psychological influence on the personality and offers directions and methods of information-psychological counteraction. One of the areas of psychological practice is being studied - counteraction to informational psychological influence. The most effective methods and practices of counteracting negative information-psychological influence are highlighted. The specific features of counteracting the destructive information-psychological influence, the features of timely psychodiagnostics and the development of effective countermeasures are described. The relevance of the study of this area of psychological work is imposed by the need on the one hand in assessing the quality of psychological protection of employees of internal affairs bodies, and on the other, in searching and stimulating intraorganizational and intrapersonal psychological resources, which necessitates the development of theoretical, methodological and conceptual approaches to the implementation of approaches to protect personnel from negative psychological information influence. The authors consider the destructive informational and psychological influence as one of the most serious problems of modern society, which threatens the psychological safety of not only employees of the internal affairs bodies, but also citizens, entails significant losses, and has a strong psychological effect.

Resumen
AbstractThe science of infertility has advanced rapidly over the past decade, in many respects without regard to the enormous demands that are placed on all participants undergoing an infertility work-up and treatment. Among these demands are a variety of potential psychological effects that must be addressed in the initial patient visit with continued counseling throughout the infertility work-up process. This article reviews the psychological factors that may affect individual patients and couples experiencing infertility, with special attention given to the common manifestations of stress. The need for physicians to provide early and ongoing attention to emotions is emphasized, and a biopsychosocial approach to infertility evaluations is outlined.

Resumen
Sixty women aged between 30 and 55 years, having hysterectomy for benign conditions, were prospectively studied to investigate psychological adjustment to operation, and to explore social, psychological and physical factors associated with psychological outcome. A further 30 women were included for prospective research on psychological outcome. Investigations took place within two weeks of operation and after four months and 14 months. The findings indicated a high prevalence of pre-operative psychological morbidity (55%), which reduced to 31.7% afterwards. There was no evidence that hysterectomy led to a greater psychological distress. The principal risk factors of poor psychological outcome were the previous scores on the mental health measures and personality inventory. Involvement in the research process did not appear to affect psychological outcome.
