Na području grada Šibenika požari otvorenih područja su vrlo česti, naročito u toplijem dijelu godine. Prve je radiografske snimke napravio Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen 1895. godine, a prve radiografske snimke u konzervaciji i restauraciji napravljene su nedugo nakon otkrića rendgenskih zraka. Prve je pisane podatke o promišljanjima primjene X-zraka u Hrvatskoj u konzervatorsko-restauratorske svrhe, krajem 40-ih godina prošlog stoljeća u zagrebačkoj restauratorskoj radionici, ostavio konzervator Zvonimir Wyroubal.
