Nelson, Carl, Lori Ann Roy y H. James Wallace. "Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System (RO-ILS): Increasing stakeholder participation for safety and quality improvement." Journal of Clinical Oncology 37, n.º 27_suppl (20 de septiembre de 2019): 232. http://dx.doi.org/10.1200/jco.2019.37.27_suppl.232.

Resumen
232 Background: RO-ILS was launched in 2014 and is free, web-based and in more than 500 U.S. radiation facilities. After RO-ILS was implemented at University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC), reporting of radiation incidents decreased and participation by radiation staff was limited. To improve incident reporting and participation, RO-ILS was relaunched for all radiation staff members at UVMMC with emphasis on improved system access and education on RO-ILS programmatic goals. Methods: Prior to RO-ILS, safety/quality incidents at UVMMC were submitted by radiation therapists, dosimetrists and physics staff on paper forms and reviewed monthly by the Radiation Quality Committee. After implementation of RO-ILS in 2016, RO-ILS incidents were reviewed by the UVMMC RO-ILS administrators with no formalized staff feedback. Due to decreasing staff submissions, RO-ILS relaunched September 2018 with increased training, scheduled submission review to radiation staff and identification of department champions. Results: Between April 2014 and May 2019, 270 radiation incidents were reported. Prior to RO-ILS, a median 8 incidents were reported per quarter but decreased to 6 per quarter after RO-ILS. After RO-ILS relaunch, median reported incidents increased to 42 per quarter. Radiation “Near Miss” events pre RO-ILS, post RO-ILS and with RO-ILS relaunch were reduced from 78% to 34% to 9%, while “Operational/Process Improvement” submissions increased from 17% pre RO-ILS to 49% post RO-ILS to 81% after relaunch. After RO-ILS relaunch, staff participation expanded to physicians, nursing and administrative staff for the first time, and physician participation increased from 0 to 50%. Conclusions: Following implementation of RO-ILS at UVMMC, radiation incident reporting initially decreased and the proportion of “Near Miss” reports decreased. After relaunch of RO-ILS, there was substantial increase in incident reporting involving all staff. As RO-ILS evolves at UVMMC, there is continued decrease in near misses and greater emphasis on “Process Improvement”. Continued education, reporting and feedback from RO-ILS submissions is recommended to maintain this high staff participation level.

Resumen
Introduction ParticipACTION is a Canadian physical activity communications and social marketing organization relaunched in 2007. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively investigate organizational capacity for physical activity promotion among Canadian organizations, and the influence of ParticipACTION on capacity five years after relaunch. Methods Using a purposive sampling strategy, semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with 44 key informants representing national, provincial, and local organizations with a mandate to promote physical activity. Interview data were analyzed using a thematic analytic approach. Results Organizational capacity in terms of partnerships and collaborations, and the general climate for physical activity promotion have improved since ParticipACTION’s relaunch. Although financial resources reduced the ability of organizations to fulfil their mandates, internal factors such as skilled employees and sponsorships, and external factors such as technological improvements in communication and information sharing helped to offset this strain. There were mixed feelings on ParticipACTION’s contribution to capacity. While ParticipACTION has brought more attention to inactivity, this was perceived as a complement to work already taking place. While some organizations perceived ParticipACTION’s relaunch as competition to funding and access to popular media, others found it as an opportunity to co-brand social marketing campaigns, utilizing ParticipACTION’s products and reputation. Conclusion According to participants, organizational capacity to promote physical activity in Canada has increased since 2007 in subtle but important ways because of a strong climate for physical activity promotion, skilled employees, and information sharing technology. Organizational capacity changes were minimally attributed to ParticipACTION.

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to ascertain the possible consequences of ban on futures trading of agriculture commodities in India by examining three critical issues: first, the author explores whether price discovery dominance changes between futures and spot in the pre-ban and post-relaunch phase both in the long run and short run. Second, the author examines the impact of ban and relaunch of futures trading on its underlying spot volatility for five sample cases of agriculture commodities (Wheat, Sugar, Soya Refined Oil, Rubber and Chana) using both parametric and non-parametric tests. Third, the author revisits the destabilization hypothesis in the light of ban on futures trading by examining the impact of unexpected component of liquidity of futures on spot volatility. Design/methodology/approach The author uses widely adopted methodology of co-integration to examine long-run relationship between spot and futures, while the short-run relationship is investigated using vector error correction model (VECM) and Granger causality to test price discovery in the pre-ban and post-relaunch phases. The second objective is explored using a combination of parametric and non-parametric tests such as Welch one-way ANOVA and Kruskal–Wallis test, respectively, to gauge the impact of ban on futures trading on spot volatility along with post hoc tests to investigate pairwise comparison of spot volatility among three phases (pre-ban, ban and post-relaunch) using Dunn Test. In addition, extensive robustness test is undertaken by adopting augmented E-GARCH model to ascertain the impact of ban and relaunch of futures trading on spot volatility. The third objective is investigated using Granger causality test between spot volatility and unexpected component of liquidity of futures estimated using Hodrick and Prescott (HP) filter to re-visit the destabilization hypothesis. Findings The author found extensive evidence for the dominance of futures market in the price discovery of agriculture commodities both in the pre-ban and post-relaunch phases in India. The ban on futures trading is found to have a destabilizing impact on spot volatility as evident from the findings of Wheat, Sugar and Rubber. In addition, it is observed that spot volatility was highest during the ban phase as compared to the pre-ban and post-relaunch phases for all four commodities barring Chana. The author found that destabilisation hypothesis holds true during the pre ban phase, while weakening of destabilization hypothesis is observed in the post-relaunch phase as unexpected futures liquidity has no role in driving the spot volatility. Originality/value This study is a novel attempt to empirically examine the potential impact of ban and relaunch of futures trading of agriculture commodities on two key market quality dimensions – price discovery and spot volatility. In addition, destabilization hypothesis is revisited to investigate the impact of futures trading on spot volatility during the pre-ban and post-relaunch period.

Resumen
Introduction ParticipACTION is a Canadian physical activity communications and social marketing organization relaunched in 2007. This study assesses the capacity of Canadian organizations to adopt, implement, and promote physical activity initiatives. The four objectives were to compare findings from baseline (2008) and follow-up (2013) with respect to: (1) awareness of ParticipACTION; (2) organizational capacity to adopt, implement and promote physical activity initiatives; (3) potential differences in capacity based on organizational size, sector, and mandate; and (4) assess perceptions of ParticipACTION five years after relaunch. Methods In this cross-sectional study, representatives from local, provincial/territorial, and national organizations completed an online survey assessing capacity to adopt, implement, and promote physical activity. Descriptive statistics and one-way analyses of variance were conducted to examine the objectives. Results Response rate for opening an email survey invitation and consenting to participate was 40.6% (685/1688) and 540 surveys were completed. Awareness of ParticipACTION increased from 54.6% at baseline to 93.9% at follow-up (Objective 1). Findings at both baseline and follow-up reflected good organizational capacity to adopt, implement and promote physical activity (Objective 2) although some varied by organizational sector and mandate (Objective 3). Most respondents reported that ParticipACTION provided positive leadership (65.3%), but there was less agreement regarding ParticipACTION’s facilitation of infrastructure (44.0%) or organizational will/motivation (47.1%)(Objective 4). Conclusion Canadian organizations continue to report having good capacity to adopt, implement, and promote physical activity. There was no discernible change in capacity indicators five years after ParticipACTION’s relaunch although its broader contribution to the physical activity sector was endorsed.

Resumen
The ambition of the Lisbon strategy is to make Europe the most competitive region in the world by 2010. Halfway into the ten-year strategy this ambition appeared to be unlikely to be achieved. In response, the Commission relaunched the strategy in 2005. The basic idea behind the relaunch is that EU competitiveness will be boosted by focusing on two policy instruments: flexibilization and modernization of the social policies of Member States. This paper offers a critical review of the strategy, arguing that the results of the revised strategy may turn out to be unsatisfactory, because of potential obstacles associated with these instruments. The conclusion is that a coherent flexicurity approach alone will not be sufficient, and that a more balanced approach to modernization should also be developed.

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to understand the various facets of augmented reality (AR) and to explore its prospects for supporting the relaunch of the tourism sector post-COVID-19 in accordance with the guidelines set out by WHO and UNWTO. Design/methodology/approach This study falls into the category of exploratory research. It is based on a systematic review of secondary data. Thematic content analysis has been adopted to trace out the various ways in which AR can be an aid in overcoming challenges in the relaunch of tourism after the pandemic. Findings It was found that norms such as social distancing and lower mobility are going to be followed even after the COVID-19. Therefore, there will be a great demand for mobile and Web-based AR to not only ensure tourist safety but also to create unique, accessible, personalized, context-specific, deep and memorable experiences. Practical implications Apart from its academic contribution to the existing body of knowledge, this work can assist various tourism DMOs and policymakers to devise futuristic policies for AR-driven tourism management and development. Originality/value The COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented and never seen before. In this context, this study establishes its novelty by exclusively focusing on the aspects of AR that can support the relaunch of tourism post-pandemic.
