Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide evidence on the information-gathering deficits in contemporary reputation measurement that are rooted in sampling and to obtain supporting information from respondents from various stakeholder groups. Design/methodology/approach In regard to social emergence theory, the authors examine the common practice of aggregating reputational judgments from randomly sampled respondents without considering their knowledge domains. A stereotyping experiment conducted in three countries provides evidence that lower-level reputations might vary, whereas higher-level reputations resulting from the social emergence process do not vary. Findings The findings demonstrate that researchers should consider respondents’ heterogeneity in regard to reputation measurement. Stakeholder judgments divergent from their domains of expertise often add noise, instead of informative answers, to the reputational categories. Research limitations/implications The social emergence process, in addition to the roles of the stakeholders, their interaction structures and the timing of their communication, needs to be incorporated into an improved reputation measurement method. Practical implications Not all information from the same respondent should be considered when computing a final reputation score. Respondents’ heterogeneity is revealed to be fundamental for reputational assessments. Originality/value This study is original in its examination of the validity of reputation assessment being restricted to lower-level descriptions of the supervenience relation. Building upon the results of the experiment conducted in three national framings, this paper suggests ways to improve reputation measurement.

Resumen
AbstractReputation of public sector organizations is increasingly formed through Word of Mouth (WOM) as citizens and stakeholders share their experiences with others both online and offline. Understanding and measuring WOM is a challenge for many public sector organizations, who often resort to measurement tools designed for the private sector. This paper looks at a popular WOM measurement tool, namely the Net Promoter Score (NPS) in the context of public sector organizations. In this paper, we ask how well does the NPS describe public sector reputation, and look at what the different stakeholder groups categorized by NPS are like in the public sector. As an illustrative case, we report findings of a stakeholder reputation survey (n: 1198) conducted for a large Finnish ministry utilizing both established reputation measures and the NPS. Based on our findings, we conclude that the traditional NPS requires tailoring to match the public sector context, and propose “The Public Sector Net Promoter Score (PSNPS)” as a new measure for WOM in the public sector context.

Resumen
U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospital Rankings are determined by an index of quality based on objective and subjective measures. This study investigates relationships between U.S. News score and its individual subjective and objective components that ultimately determine the relative ranking of the top 50 hospitals in the 2015 Best Hospital Rankings for the study’s selected specialties—cancer, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, and orthopedics. A 2-step linear regression model was employed; first, to control for objective components’ influence on U.S. News score ( R2 = 0.365; P < .001), then, to isolate the subjective component of reputation’s effect on U.S. News score ( R2 = 0.565; P < .001). The second model confirmed that reputation has a more significant influence on total U.S. News score than its objective counterparts. This indicates that a hospital’s U.S. News score and relative ranking in the Best Hospital Rankings may be disproportionately influenced by its reputation.

Resumen
The 2007-2009 revealed the weaknesses of the growth foundation and failure of risk management systems in large global banks. Consequently, there has been renewed interest in the creation of stable and functional risk culture. Protecting a financial institution’s reputation is among the most significant challenges facing financial firms. Thus the aim of this paper is to analyze why reputational risk is important for banks, and to trace its sources and consequences. In the empirical part, the paper proposes a new method to measure reputational risk: Stakeholder Reputation Score (SRS). The panel regression models are used to examine the impact of the SRS indicator on bank performance, for listed banks in the CEE-11. The estimation results indicate that the efforts to enhance bank reputation may not have a positive effect on bank performance, which may explain why many banks deal with reputational risk mainly in the context of minimizing loss after a scandal, rather than treating it as a strategic, long-term goal

Resumen
Reputation expresses the beliefs or opinions about someone or something that are held by an individual or by a community. Reputation Management Systems (RMSs) handle representation, computation, and storage of reputation in some quantitative form, suitable for grounding trust relations among parties. Quantifying reputation is important in situations, like online service provision, which involve interaction between parties who do not know (and potentially distrust) each other. The basic idea is to let parties rate each other. When a party is considered for interaction, its ratings can be aggregated in order to derive a score for deciding whether to trust it or not. While much valuable research work has been done on reputation-based trust schemes, the problem of establishing collective trust in the reputation management system itself has never been fully solved. Recently, several researchers have put forward the idea of using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) as the foundation for implementing trustworthy RMSs. The purpose of this paper is to identify some critical problems that arise when DLTs are used in order to manage evidence about previous interaction and compute reputations. The paper proposes some practical solutions and describes methods to deploy them on top of standard DLT of the Ethereum family.

Resumen
The concept of reputation is assiduously used in various fields such as communication, public relations, advertising, marketing and management. The convergence between the rise of new technologies linked to corporate communication has favoured the birth of what has been called online reputation. Thus, unprecedented behaviours have been generated that are establishing new social forms and even some authors speak of a new economy of reputation where society would be highly connected through networks and organizations that would operate in an ecosystem of permanent influence from the interest groups. With this premise, Traity arises the project that we analyzed in our research and that raises a reputational score that takes advantage of the fingerprint information to reproduce online trust as we understand it in the physical world, but without trying to reduce its people into a percentage, a number or some stars.

Resumen
Online reputation systems are a novel and active part of e-commerce environments such as eBay, Amazon, etc. These corporations use reputation reporting systems for trust evaluation by measuring the overall feedback ratings given by buyers, which enables them to compute the reputation score of their products. Such evaluation and computation processes are closely related to sentiment analysis and opinion mining. These techniques incorporate new features into traditional tasks, like polarity detection for positive or negative reviews. The “all excellent reputation” problem is common in the e-commerce domain. Another problem is that sellers can write unfair reviews to endorse or reject any targeted product since a higher reputation leads to higher profits. Therefore, the purpose of the present work is to use a statistical technique for excluding unfair ratings and to illustrate its effectiveness through simulations. Also, the authors have calculated reputation scores from users' feedback based on a sentiment analysis model (SAM). Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

Krovvidi, Sai S. "Competitive Microgrid Electricity Market Design". Thesis, Virginia Tech, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/32964.

Texto completo
Resumen
The electric power grid forms the foundation for several other critical infrastructures of national importance such as public health, transportation and telecommunication systems, to thrive. The current power grid runs on the century-old technology and faces serious challenges of the 21st century - Ever-increasing demand and the need to provide a sustainable way to meet the growing demand, increased requirement of resilience against man-made and natural disasters, ability to defend against cyber attacks, increasing demand for reliable power, requirement to integrate with alternate energy generation and storage technologies. Several countries, including the United States, have realized the immediate need to modernize the grid and to pursue the goal of a smart grid. Majority of recent grid modernization efforts are directed towards the distribution systems to be able to meet these new challenges. One of the key enablers of a fully functional Smart Grid are microgrids â subsystems of the grid, utilizing small generation capacities at the distribution system level to increase the overall reliability and power quality of the local grid. It is one of the key directions recommended by national electric delivery technologies roadmap in United States as well as policy makers for electricity delivery in many countries. Microgrids have witnessed serious research activity in the past few years, especially in areas such as multi-agent system (MAS) architectures for microgrid control and auction algorithms for microgrid electricity transaction. However, most of the prior research on electricity transaction in microgrids fails to recognize and represent the true nature of the microgrid electricity market. In this research, a comprehensive microgrid electricity market has been designed, taking into account several unique characteristics of this new market place. This thesis establishes an economic rationale to the vision of wide-scale deployment of microgrids serving residential communities in near future and develops a comprehensive understanding of microgrid electricity market. A novel concept of Community Microgrids is introduced and the market and business models for electricity transaction are proposed and validated based on economic forecasts of key drivers of distributed generation. The most important contribution of this research deals with establishing a need for a trustworthy model framework for microgrid market and introducing the concept of reputation score to market participants. A framework of day-ahead energy market (DAEM) for electricity transaction, incorporating an approach of using the reputation score to incentivize the sellers in the market to be trustworthy, has been designed and implemented in MATLAB with a graphical user interface (GUI). Current implementation demonstrates a market place with two sellers and nine buyers and is easily scalable to support multiple market participants. The proposed microgrid electricity market may spur the deployment of residential microgrids, incorporating distributed generation, thereby making significant contribution to increase the overall reliability and power quality of the local grid.

Resumen
An important part of maintaining network security is collecting and processing information about cyber threats, both from network operator's own detection tools and from third parties. A commonly used type of such information are lists of network entities (IP addresses, domains, URLs, etc.) which were identified as malicious. However, in many cases, the simple binary distinction between malicious and non-malicious entities is not sufficient. It is beneficial to keep other supplementary information for each entity, which describes its malicious activities, and also a summarizing score, which evaluates its reputation numerically. Such a score allows for quick comprehension of the level of threat the entity poses and allows to compare and sort entities. The goal of this work is to design a method for such summarization. The resulting score, called Future Maliciousness Probability (FMP score), is a value between 0 and 1, assigned to each suspicious network entity, expressing the probability that the entity will do some kind of malicious activity in a near future. Therefore, the scoring is based of prediction of future attacks. Advanced machine learning methods are used to perform the prediction. Their input is formed by previously received alerts about security events and other relevant data related to the entity. The method of computing the score is first described in a general way, usable for any kind of entity and input data. Then a more concrete version is presented for scoring IPv4 address by utilizing alerts from an alert sharing system and supplementary data from a reputation database. This variant is then evaluated on a real world dataset. In order to get enough amount and quality of data for this dataset, a part of the work is also dedicated to the area of security analysis of network data. A framework for analysis of flow data, NEMEA, and several new detection methods are designed and implemented. An open reputation database, NERD, is also implemented and described in this work. Data from these systems are then used to evaluate precision of the predictor as well as to evaluate selected use cases of the scoring method.

The thesis aims at defining the role of the use not only in obtaining the right of mark by the registration, but also, to examine the role of the use in the scope of the protection of the marks. This examination will therefore lead to a distinction between, on the one hand, the use of the mark by the proprietor himself, which therefore concerns the existence of the trademark right (part one), and, on the other hand, the use of the mark by third parties, concerning the exercise of the trademark right (part two). The first part will be divided into two titles. In the first title, we will examine the role of the use on the existence of the right of mark, in the second title, we will examine how to demonstrate the effects of the use. The second part, will also be divided into two titles: the first title is devoted to the use that causes the confusion between the signs,in other words the infringement in the strict sense, and the second title is dedicated to the use which causes a link between signs, and constitutes infringement in the broad sense

Resumen
Portable languages and distributed paradigms have driven a wave of new applications and processing models. One of the most promising, certainly from its early marketing, but disappointing (from its limited uptake)is the mobile agent execution and data processing model. Mobile agents are autonomous programs which can move around a heterogeneous network such as the Internet, crossing through a number of different security domains, and perform some work at each visited destination as partial completion of a mission for their agent user. Despite their promise as a technology and paradigm to drive global electronic services (i.e.any Internet-driven-and-delivered service, not solely e-commerce related activities), their up take on the Internet has been very limited. Chief among the reasons for the paradigm's practical under-achievement is there is no ubiquitous frame work for using Internet mobile agents, and non-trivial security concerns abound for the two major stake holders (mobile agent users and mobile agent platform owners). While both stake holders have security concerns with the dangers of the mobile agent processing model, most investigators in the field are of the opinion that protecting mobile agents from malicious agent platforms is more problematic than protecting agent platforms from malicious mobile agents. Traditional cryptographic mechanisms are not well-suited to counter the bulk of the threats associated with the mobile agent paradigm due to the untrusted hosting of an agent and its intended autonomous, flexible movement and processing. In our investigation, we identified that the large majority of the research undertaken on mobile agent security to date has taken a micro-level perspective. By this we mean research focused solely on either of the two major stakeholders, and even then often only on improving measures to address one security issue dear to the stake holder - for example mobile agent privacy (for agent users) or access control to platform resources (for mobile agent platform owners). We decided to take a more encompassing, higher-level approach in tackling mobile agent security issues. In this endeavour, we developed the beginnings of an infrastructural-approach to not only reduce the security concerns of both major stakeholders, but bring them transparently to a working relationship. Strategic utilisation of both existing distributed system trusted-third parties (TTPs) and novel mobile agent paradigm-specific TTPs are fundamental in the infrastructural framework we have devised. Besides designing an application and language independent frame work for supporting a large-scale Internet mobile agent network, our Mobile Agent Secure Hub Infrastructure (MASHIn) proposal encompasses support for flexible access control to agent platform resources. A reliable means to track the location and processing times of autonomous Internet mobile agents is discussed, withfault-tolerant handling support to work around unexpected processing delays. Secure,highly-effective (incomparison to existing mechanisms) strategies for providing mobile agent privacy, execution integrity, and stake holder confidence scores were devised - all which fit comfortably within the MASHIn framework. We have deliberately considered the interests - withoutbias -of both stake holders when designing our solutions. In relation to mobile agent execution integrity, we devised a new criteria for assessing the robustness of existing execution integrity schemes. Whilst none of the existing schemes analysed met a large number of our desired properties for a robust scheme, we identified that the objectives of Hohl's reference states scheme were most admirable - particularly real - time in - mission execution integrity checking. Subsequently, we revised Hohl's reference states protocols to fit in the MASHIn framework, and were able to overcome not only the two major limitations identified in his scheme, but also meet all of our desired properties for a robust execution integrity scheme (given an acceptable decrease in processing effiency). The MASHIn offers a promising new perspective for future mobile agent security research and indeed a new frame work for enabling safe and autonomous Internet mobile agents. Just as an economy cannot thrive without diligent care given to micro and macro-level issues, we do not see the security prospects of mobile agents (and ultimately the prospects of the mobile agent paradigm) advancing without diligent research on both levels.

Resumen
Reputations can make or break citizens, communities, or companies. Reputations matter for individual careers, for one’s chances of finding a partner, for a profession’s credibility, or for the value of a firm’s stock options – to name but a few. The key mechanism for the creation, maintenance, and destruction of reputations in everyday life is gossip – evaluative talk about absent third parties. Reputation and gossip are inseparably intertwined, but up until now have been mostly studied in isolation. The present Handbook closes this gap, drawing on cutting edge insights from a multitude of disciplines, ranging from psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology and economics to philosophy, neurobiology and computer science. Being the first integrated and comprehensive collection of studies on both phenomena, each of the 25 chapters explores the current state of the art on the antecedents, processes and outcomes of the gossip-reputation link in contexts as diverse as online markets, non-industrial societies, modern firms, social networks, or schools. The volume is organized into seven parts, each of them devoted to the exploration of a different facet of gossip and reputation. Highly international in scope, the volume brings together some of the most eminent experts on gossip and reputation. Their contributions do not only help us to better understand the complex interplay between two of society’s most delicate social mechanisms. By pointing to new problems and a newly emerging cross-disciplinary solutions, the book also sketches the contours of a long term research agenda.

This chapter focuses on George Parnassus who, by the late 1950s, had become one of the most powerful figures in boxing. He came to be known as a specialist in developing Latino talent. In 1957 the Olympic Auditorium's matchmaker, Babe McCoy, lost his license (for fixing fights), and Parnassus, whose reputation by then had garnered him great local respect, was recruited as his replacement. Parnassus was looking for the next Latino sensation. He had managed Los Angeles native Art “The Golden Boy” Aragon in the 1950s, had set him up for a losing title fight against Carmen Basilio in 1958, and then watched him get handed down in the ranks. In Gaspar, Parnassus saw a big, popular score. He saw the first Mexican welterweight champion of the world. Working deals was Parnassus' forte, and he would need to work one with Kid Paret to make this happen.

Resumen
This book examines the vicissitudes of Debussy’s posthumous reception in the 1920s and early 1930s and analyzes the confluence of factors that helped to overturn the initial backlash against his musical aesthetic. In tracing this overarching narrative, this study enters into dialogue with research in the sociology of reputation and commemoration, examining the collective nature of the processes of artistic consecration. Key in this regard is identifying the networks of influence that had to come together and act in several spheres—textual, performative, material—to safeguard the composer’s legacy. Today, Debussy’s position as a central figure in twentieth-century concert music is secure: this book examines how and why this seemingly inevitable state of affairs came about. Although this study focuses on one particular instance of reputation building, its scope is also broader in that it addresses the more general processes by which reputations are constructed, contested, and consolidated. And by analyzing the forces that came to bear on the formation of Debussy's legacy, this book contributes to a greater understanding of the interwar period—the cultural politics, debates, and issues that confronted musicians in 1920s and 1930s Paris.

Resumen
Aaron Copland suffered during the Second Red Scare that swept the United States after World War II. When Congressman Fred Busbey announced that the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) had compiled “a long record of questionable affiliations” proving Copland a “communist sympathizer” or “fellow traveler,” the 1953 Eisenhower inaugural committee cancelled a planned performance of Copland‘s Lincoln Portrait, and the allegations became national news. Copland’s progressive politics of the 1930s, his involvement in the 1949 Waldorf Peace Conference, and his association with the State Department--which some considered dangerously tolerant of homosexuals--made him a target for anti-communism of the Hearst press, the American Legion, the entertainment industry blacklist Red Channels, J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI, and Senator Joseph McCarthy. Copland narrowly escaped “naming names.” Though his public reputation ultimately recovered, in the early years of the Cold War his creative spark and cultural influence were sadly diminished.

This essay examines the place of fiction in eighteenth-century reviewing and the place of reviewing in eighteenth-century fiction. While reviewers might express scorn for many of the novels they reviewed and for their readers, generally assumed to be female, they also paid substantial attention to fiction. Sales of fiction might be substantially unaffected by reviews, but the reviewers’ comments were still seen as influential. Despite all the insults, complaints, and exaggerations, their judgements helped to solidify the position of fiction in the literary world. They also provide for us now a valuable resource for the history of the novel, including insight into the vagaries of literary reputation.

The Introduction outlines the scope and range of this study of perfume in Victorian literary culture, defining its terms and explaining its specific links with aestheticism and decadence during 1860–1900, the period in which British perfumery developed, expanded, and gained an international reputation. It also explains the important links between perfume and literary language, surveys various kinds of modern writing about smell and perfume, and indicates the relatively small amount of critical writing on olfaction in Victorian literature. Finally, signalling the broadly chronological organization of this monograph, it provides detailed chapter summaries which trace an evolutionary movement from Romantic poetry and early and mid-Victorian fiction to aestheticism, decadence, and the literature of the fin de siècle, ending with Virginia Woolf and Compton Mackenzie, two early twentieth-century novelists whose works provide contrasting reactions to Victorian scented literature and perfumed decadence.

Resumen
Building on existing interviews, journal articles, and archival research, The Films of Barbara Kopple assesses Kopple’s entire career to date, paying particular attention historical contexts, technique, critical reception, and ongoing influence. Each chapter blends close analyses of the films with insights drawn from film history and documentary studies to demonstrate that Kopple has consistently and often doggedly pursued projects that document the experiences of the victimized, the voiceless, and those in crisis. The contributors treat the entire scope of Kopple’s career, from her work in the early 1970s as an intern for David and Albert Maysles, to her mid-career experiments with commercial television and fictional projects, and finally to her recent forays into digital streaming platforms such as YouTube. The book also provides cultural contexts for Kopple’s films, including representations of class, gender, sexuality, and race. Finally, it assesses the contours of Kopple’s critical reputation and popularity, including her influence on contemporary filmmakers. In all, the book aims to stir interest in the life and films of Barbara Kopple, reminding readers why her films continue to be culturally significant.

Resumen
Global ranking systems have mesmerized both the academia and the general public because they have quickly become an essential part of decision-making processes for various stakeholders. Today, many methodologies exist and each is fighting hard to become widely recognized by different stakeholders. In order to fully meet the needs of general public and prospective students, field and subject based rankings are now occupying the prime focus of researchers and policy-makers. Our aim was to take a closer look at the QS World University Rankings by subject. To realize this aim, we conducted a case study where we identified two subject areas – Mathematics and Medicine. For each area, we collected the official QS scores for three criteria: Academic Reputation, Citations per Paper, and H-index Citations. We wanted to examine whether the academic staff, who participate in QS Global Academic Survey (upon which the Academic Reputation QS Score is calculated), rank the universities according to their actual academic performance i.e. the number and the quality of published scientific papers. To realize our aims, we analyzed two datasets which contained the data of the 50 leading universities according to the 2014 rankings. Besides the officially available data provided by the QS, we obtained the leading journals in which each university publishes its papers (concerning the number of published papers) and bibliometric indicators which were used to characterize the reviewed journals. The obtained results show little correlation between the number of universities' papers/bibliometric quality of journals and the QS scores.

Resumen
This chapter treats Milestone’s life and work from 1945 to 1949. The highly publicized failure of the expensive feature Arch of Triumph, produced by new Enterprise Studios, starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer in an adaptation of Remarque’s novel about refugees in Paris before the Nazi invasion, damaged Milestone’s artistic reputation. This coincided with Milestone being named by the HUAC as one of The Hollywood Nineteen and accused of pro-Communist sympathies. Although not called to testify, he supported those who were and attended HUAC hearings. A discussion of No Minor Vices and The Red Pony, another Steinbeck adaption starring Robert Mitchum and Copland’s score, concludes the chapter.

Resumen
Economies of scale and scope are increasingly critical for universities operating in globally competitive higher education teaching, research and training markets. This is because the associated cost advantages could enable some institutions to increase their university rankings relatively easier. This chapter investigates the relationships between economies of scale (measured by the number of enrollments) and scope (measured by the number of teaching programs), research performance, and institutional reputation (measured by the ARWU and QS ranking scores). The results show that larger and more diverse institutions tend to have higher scores. However, when separated into public and private universities, the scale and scope effects are not so obvious between private universities and the ARWU ranking scores. Nevertheless, the chapter does identify a significant scope effect in the QS rankings for private institutions, implying that expanding research, teaching, and training programs may benefit these scores.

Resumen
As with all their assets, organizations need management when it comes to their reputation. Having a successful corporate reputation is closely related to how corporations manage their existing reputation. The main components of long-term corporate reputation are categorized as appealing to emotions, product and service quality, vision and leadership, financial performance, workplace environment and social responsibility (Fombrun et al., 2013: 253). Among these components, financial performance is positioned as one of the main factors that come to the fore especially in crisis situations. Financial performance is also an effective factor in building trust in all relationships established with the target audience. Therefore, organizations should reflect their financial performance with a good corporate communication strategy in order to create a solid corporate reputation based on trust. The Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world in 2019, negatively affected many corporations in Turkey economically. In the face of this situation, which can be described as a global crisis, corporations carried out corporate communication activities that support corporate reputation management in order to turn the crisis into an opportunity. It is seen that especially the financial performances of the corporations are highlighted among these activities carried out with the aim of strengthening the positive image of the corporations in the eyes of their stakeholders and the public. Within the scope of this research, the press releases published by five companies operating within the automotive sector in Turkey, among the sectors given in the Sectoral Impact of Covid 19 on the Economy report of Global Times (2020), were examined through the content analysis method in the context of financial performance indicators. The purpose of the research is to reveal how organizations reflect their strategies, which include the elements that reflect their financial performance in their press releases, to the public. As a result of the research, the financial performance indicator that took the most place in all the press releases examined was determined as “competitive advantage”.

Resumen
Aim/Purpose: To understand the current state of the body of literature in blockchain technology and propose dimensions for acceptance. Background: Blockchain technology has large promise to replace centralized and even distributed database systems. Its premise focuses on issues such as transparency, immutability, and privacy of transactions. Created for bitcoin, researchers and practitioners have begun to see its potential in different areas and industries. Its acceptance is still debatable as there are a number of issues still to be resolved. Methodology: We conducted a literature review to assess the size and scope of the body of research in the are of blockchain applications and carried a conceptual analysis for blockchain acceptance. Contribution: We provide an assessment of the body of literature in the are of blockchain and cluster the number of articles according to application groupings. We show that research in blockchain cannot be considered that it even started due to its diverse, scattered and weak related studies. At the same time, blockchain is still faced with a lot of resistance yet no one is studying its acceptance. We therefore propose dimension for its acceptance, as adapted from the very rich area of ecommerce research. Findings: Body of research is at its infancy. Research is scattered and weak. Most research is related to bitcoin and cryptocurrency. There is a great need to study the application of blockchain outside its current focus on cryptocurrency. Areas of study of blockchain applications include internet of things, energy and finance – other areas are identified. Dimensions for blockchain acceptance are proposed and include: reputation, risk, usefulness, and intentions. Recommendations for Practitioners: Blockchain has great potential to be applied in areas such as medicine, aviation and disaster relief. In terms of blockchain characteristics, practitioners have a lot of room to innovate in various approaches such as the blockchain hashing algorithm, smart contracts and peer validation. These do not need to be fixed but can vary based on the business characteristics. Recommendations for Researchers: Research in the application of blockchain can be considered as not even started. The application of blockchain is an open playground which today few have stepped in to enjoy. Research opportunities include but are not limited to energy consumption of blockchain transactions, dimensions to blockchain adoption and acceptance, adaptability of blockchain to various industries, and innovation in blockchain characteristics such as new approaches to peer validation of transactions.

Resumen
Digitális, globális és multikulturális világunkban a könyvtár szerepe, funkciórendszere jelentősen kiszélesedett. A könyvtár- és információtudomány kutatási horizontja is egyre tágul, a felsőfokú könyvtárosképzés mindenkori szakmai trendeknek, felhasználói, munkaadói és munkavállalói igényeknek megfelelő alakítása folyamatos. A tanulmány bemutatja a multifunkciós könyvtár olyan modelljét, amelyben szerepet kap a pénzügyi kultúrát és a vállalkozásfejlesztést célzó edukáció is. Napjainkban ugyanis kiemelt jelentőségűek a kellő tájékozottsággal meghozott pénzügyi döntések. Különösen igaz ez hazánkra, ahol a felmérések és a tapasztalatok szerint a lakosság pénzügyi tudatossága fejlesztésre szorul. Kézenfekvő megoldásként jelentkezik Magyarország legnagyobb kulturális intézményrendszerének, a könyvtári hálózatnak a bevonása is a képzésbe. Sanghajtól Londonon át Chicagóig és Phoenixig már számos nemzetközi jó gyakorlattal lehet bizonyítani, hogy a könyvtári hálózat tagjai – kiemelten a nemzeti- és a közkönyvtárak – sikerrel kapcsolhatók be a társadalom pénzügyi műveltségének pallérozásába, ami a könyvtári hálózat társadalmi beágyazottságát és elismertségét erősíti, illetve az esélyegyenlőség támogatásán túl, az állampolgárok és a gazdasági szektor szereplői számára is innovatív megoldásokat hozhat, úgymint például a start-upok alapításának és működtetésének könyvtári-információs támogatása. A közlemény interdiszciplináris megalapozottsággal tárja fel a külföldi bevált gyakorlatokat a nem formális, könyvtári pénzügyi oktatási akciók hazai adaptálása érdekében, nemzetközi kontextusban tárgyalva és rendszerezve az alapvető elméleti (szakirodalmimódszertani) forrásokat és kijelölve a jövőbeli hazai kutatási-fejlesztési irányokat. ----- Multifunctional library and financial education --- - - The scope of the library’s roles and functions has expanded considerably in our digital, global, and multicultural world. The research horizon of library and information science is also constantly broadening; post-secondary librarian training is being continuously shaped to fit current professional trends and the needs of users, employees and employers. This paper introduces a model for the multifunctional library, in which education on financial literacy and business development is also present, since informed financial decisions are of particular importance nowadays. This is especially true in Hungary, where surveys and experience suggest that the population’s financial awareness needs improvement. An obvious solution is to involve in this education the biggest cultural institutional system of Hungary: the library network. There are many international examples of good practices from Shanghai to London, and from Chicago to Phoenix, which prove that members of the library network, especially national and public libraries, can be successfully involved in improving the financial literacy of society, which also increases the social embeddedness and reputation of the library network, and in addition to promoting equal opportunities, it can provide innovative solutions for citizens and for the operators of the economic sector, for instance library and information support for the founding and management of start-ups. This paper explores foreign good practices with an interdisciplinary approach in order to adapt non-formal financial educational library operations in Hungary. It also discusses and organizes the basic theoretical resources (literature and methodology) available in the international context to provide directions for future domestic research and development.
