Resumen
The chemical composition, main physicochemical properties, and nutritional value of seed flour and seed oil ofLannea kerstingiiwere studied. The results indicated that seeds contained 3.61% moisture, 57.85% fat, 26.39% protein, 10.07% carbohydrates, and 2.08% ash. Potassium was the predominant mineral, followed by magnesium and calcium. The essential amino acids were at higher levels than the estimated amino acid requirements of FAO/WHO/UNU except for lysine. Fatty acid composition showed that oleic acid was the major fatty acid, followed by palmitic, linoleic, and stearic acids. Physicochemic

Dried melon seeds (Citrullus colocynthis L) of the family Cucurbitaceae were investigated for nutritional quality and the oil seed characteristics. These melon seeds, on a dry weight basis, consisted of 52.3% of test and 47.7% of kernel. The moisture content in melon seeds was 54.5% and the mineral constituents were also determined. The oil content of seeds was very high ranging from 22.1-53.5%, due to the presence of the hulls, 22% from the seeds and 53% of the kernel, and also the crude protein content was so high as the 21.8% of the seeds. Resumen
Castor oil is an oil derived from castor seed from a plant Ricinus communis. The versatility of castor oil is highly attributed by 12-hydroxy-9-octadecenoic acid (ricinoleic acid) and its functional group. It is an oil that cannot be consumed by a human. However, castor oil actually can be used to produce many valuable products such as chemicals, paint, and cosmetics due to its unique characteristic which contains a high percentage of ricinoleic acid that helps in producing many valuable products. The utilization of vegetable oils is currently in the highlight of the chemical industry, as they

The oil refining of Suri cucumber seed oil has been developed and tested. Crude oil was obtained by using soxhlet extraction in n-hexane, then was refined using chemical method by degumming and neutralization. This study aims are to determine the oil yield before and after refining, the oil’ physicochemical characteristic before and after refining and to determine the oil profile before and after refining by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) method. The refining process cause the color of the oil become paler, but do not significantly affect on the water content and density. Howe

Abstract The biochemical composition of seed collected from six landrace accessions of Arachis hypogaea L. subsp. hypogaea var. hirsuta was investigated. Florida-grown runner- (cv. Florunner) and virginia-type (cv. NC 7) seed were used as comparative controls. Fatty acid methyl esters were prepared from hexane-extracted oil and analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography. Oil stability was determined using oxidative stability instrumentation. Tocopherols, free amino acids, and free sugars were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography. Total oil content ranged from 36-45% for var. hirsuta s

Oil extracted from <em>Ceiba pentandra</em> seed was studied to explore its suitability for ethnomedical uses with a special emphasis on its physiochemical characterization, antimicrobial behavior and spectrophotometric parameters. Some of the physiochemical properties were examined and compared with those of standard oils and, in particular, any common characteristics with cotton seed oil were evaluated. Spectrophotometric analysis of oil was carried out to obtain information regarding the types, numbers and position of chromophores and auxochrome, and saturated and unsaturated co

Resumen
Styrian hull-less pumpkins are valued for their use in health-promoting foods such as oils and snacks. Although deriving from Styria, they are now cultivated globally. Seeds of Styrian oil pumpkins are rich in lipids and represent a high-value product. Thus, seed yield and quality are traits of economic importance. These seed characteristics depend mostly on the cultivated variety and plant growing conditions. This study aimed to assess the variation in hull-less seed lipids of new hybrids of Styrian oil pumpkin developed recently for cultivation in moderate/colder climate zones of the north-e

Walnut fruits are used for their nutrition properties for a long time in Anatolia, where seed propagated walnuts are naturally found, as solitary individuals or dense populations. Some relevant physico-chemical and antioxidant characteristics of fruits were determined for fifteen promising walnut (Juglans regia L.) selections (named 'G-1' to 'G-15') propagated from seeds. The well-known Turkish walnut cultivar 'Sebin' was included in the analysis as a standard in order to make comparison with seed propagated genotypes. The average fruit weight and kernel ratios ranged from 7.43 to 12.61 g and

The world’s energy requirement has been dominated by petroleum oil resources for years in many applications, especially in the area of electricity generation and utilization. Mineral oil application in power system equipment can be potentially hazardous to the environment, especially when there are incidents of transformer explosion, which caused spillages of oil to the soils or water streams and thereby pollute the surrounding environments. This paper is aimed at finding a substitute for the use of mineral oil as transformer oil. Experiments on breakdown voltages, flash points, pour points, v

Resumen
The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of seed storage time on the quality of cold-pressed sunflower oil. The quality and oxidative stability of oil was determined in samples of domestic varieties of sunflower hybrid, linoleic type seeds, obtained from fresh seeds and from seeds stored in silo cell for 6 and 12 months at temperature below 30oC and in good ventilation conditions. It was found that the longer storage time of seeds had a negative impact on many quality aspects of the oil, such as flavor, odor and aroma, primarily on the sensory profile. Chemical characteristics

Resumen
This study investigates the physico-chemical and fatty acids composition of crude seed oil extracts of Azadirachta indica . The main objective was to evaluate some biodiesel characteristics of the crude seed oil extract of Azadirachta indica. The procedures of the Association of Official and Analytical Chemist (AOAC) were used for assessment of some physical, biochemical, and fatty acids constituents of the test seed oil extract. The physical properties assayed for indicate that the oil is liquid at room temperature, non-drying, with specific gravity, with flash and melting points of 0.910±0.0
