Resumen
The objective of this research is the development of a new constitutive model to describe the behavior of cohesive soils under time dependent loading. In the work presented here, the modified SIMPLE DSS model is expanded to account for the effects of strain rate on clays in simple shear conditions. The response of clay soils is highly dependent on the rate of strain for both effective stress path and stress-strain behavior. The undrained shear strength is strongly influenced by strain rate both in monotonic and cyclic simple shear tests. Nevertheless, the few available experimental results cov

The high strain rate fiber direction tensile response of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) composites is of interest in applications where impact damage may occur. This response varies substantially with strain rate. However, physical testing of these composites is difficult at strain rates above 10^-1/s. A Monte Carlo simulation of composite tensile strength is constructed to estimate the tensile behavior of these composites. Load redistribution in the vicinity of fiber breaks varies according to fiber and matrix properties, which are in turn strain rate dependent. The dis

In this work, the Shear Transformation Zone (STZ) dynamics model is adapted to capture the transitions between different regimes of flow serration in the deformation map of metallic glass. This was accomplished by scaling the STZ volume with a log-linear fit to the strain rate, and also adjusting the activation energy of an STZ with a log-linear fit to maintain constant yield strength at differing strain rates. Twelve simulations are run at each of six different strain rates ranging from 10-5 to 100 s-1, and statistics are collected on simulation behavior and shear band nucleation and propagat

The initiation and propagation of adiabatic shear bands is analyzed numerically for an impulsively loaded thick-walled steel tube. A circumferential V-notch located at the outer surface of the center of the tube provides a stress concentration. The material is modeled as strain hardening, strain-rate hardening and thermal softening. The dynamic loading conditions considered are pure torsion, axial pressure combined with torsion, and internal pressure combined with torsion. Because of the stress concentration, a shear band will first initiate in an element adjoining the notch tip and propagate

There is an increase in participation levels in sporting activities, paiticularly of the high intensity variety. With this comes an increase in joint injmies. Subchondral and interfacial tidemark injmies (osteochondral fracture) caused by high intensity activities as well as motor vehicle injures also continue to cont1ibute significantly to such joint injuries. The rate of loading is a significant contributing factor in type of injury. It is therefore important, for injury prevention and health management reasons, to establish loading rates that present a high risk of osteochondral fracture

The experimental results show that both the shear strain rate and the temperature have a significant effect on the shear properties of the Al-Sc alloy. At a constant temperature, the shear stress, fracture shear strain, work hardening rate, yielding shear strength, work hardening coefficient

Resumen
碩士
國立成功大學
機械工程學系碩博士班
92
The dynamic shear deformation behavior and fracture characteristics of Ti-6Al-4V alloy are studied by torsional split-Hopkinson bar at temperature ranging from -100℃ to 300℃ under three strain rates ( 1800 s-1, 2300 s-1, 2800 s-1). The effects of strain rat and temperature on the mechanical response and microstructure of the alloy are evaluated. At constant temperature, flow stress, work hardening rate coefficient and strain rate sensitivity increase with increasing strain rate, but activation volume decreases. Under constant strain rate, flow stress, work h
