Texto completoDet svenska elpriset har under de senaste åren stigit kraftigt vilket inneburit avsevärt högre energikostnader för många företag. Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery i Finspång är en av dessa och har under en längre tid sett hur energianvändningen ökar för varje år, framförallt på grund av en allt intensivare produktion. Företaget vill därför se över energianvändningen i verksamheten. En energikartläggning och åtgärdsförslag av den största produktionsbyggnaden på området, Lavalverkstaden, är ett steg i den riktningen.
Energikartläggningen har i grunden baserats på mätningar för att få en översiktlig bild över hur energianvändningen ser ut. Det sker genom att dela in energianvändningen i enhetsprocesser. Med mätningarna som stöd har också åtgärdsförslag identifierats och till viss del har det varit möjligt att kvantifiera besparingspotentialen. Investeringskostnaden är beräknad för de två största investeringarna, i övriga åtgärder är bara hänsyn tagen till besparingen.
Resultatet visar att det finns stora möjligheter att energieffektivisera verksamheten. Byte till ny allmänbelysning och ny tryckluftskompressor är de åtgärder som kräver störst investeringar men som också ger störst besparingar. LCC-analyser visar i båda fallen stor lönsamhet och investeringarna är betalda inom fyra respektive sex år. För övrigt föreslås bland annat konvertering, styrning av belysning och reducerad tomgång. Till följd av åtgärderna kan totalt 1,6 Mkr sparas genom reducering av

- 733 MWh fjärrvärme (-15 %)
- 261 MWh fjärrkyla (-12 %)
Förutom de åtgärder som kan konkretiseras just nu finns en stor potential på lång sikt. Genom att fokusera mer på energianvändningen i det dagliga arbetet och ersätta energikrävande utrustning mot energieffektivare alternativ kan företagets energianvändning reduceras även framöver. Bland annat finns förslag i rapporten på vad som bör finnas med i inköpsrutiner för att främja inköp av energieffektiv utrustning.
In recent years the Swedish electricity price has risen sharply, which resulted in significantly higher energy costs for the companies. Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery in Finspång is one of those companies and for a long time they have seen how the energy usage is increasing every year, mainly due to an increased production. Therefore the company wants to investigate the energy usage and make an energy analysis of Laval workshop, the biggest production plant of the company.
The energy analysis is fundamentally based on measurements to get an overview of the energy usage of the plant. By dividing those in support and production processes, possibilities to energy efficiency measures have been identified and the savings potential quantified. The investment cost is quantified for the two largest investments, in other energy efficiency measures only the saving is taken into account.
The conclusion is that there are great possibilities to increase energy efficiency. A change of general illumination and a new air compressor calls for the greatest investments but also provides the greatest savings. LCC-analysis shows in both cases high profitability and investments are payed back within four and six years respectively. Moreover, a conversion, reduced lighting and idling losses is suggested. Due to the proposed actions, savings of totally 1.6 million SEK a year can be made by reducing
- 1537 MWh (-13 %) of electricity
- 733 MWh (-15 %) of district heating
- 261 MWh (-12 %) of district cooling
In addition to the energy efficiency measures that can be concretized there is a great potential to reduce the energy use also in longer term by focusing more of energy use in daily work. By adding routines when purchasing, energy efficient equipment can be promoted and energy use will be reduced even more.

Texto completoAs empresas têm-se cada vez mais consciencializado da importância da gestão do conhecimento para conseguirem conquistar vantagem competitiva. No entanto, para conseguirem tirar efetivamente proveito desta, necessitam de saber como realmente funciona, como se caracteriza, que benefícios proporciona e que dificuldades cria, sendo capaz de distingui-la da gestão da informação. O tema desta investigação, que representa um importante domínio da Gestão e Estratégia Industrial, aborda a questão da gestão do conhecimento, de importância extrema no apoio à tomada de decisão, e do conhecimento em si, que é, hoje, o maior capital das empresas. Esta temática é particularmente relevante no contexto das empresas multinacionais, uma vez que são estas as que mais dificuldades têm em gerir o seu conhecimento organizacional. Assim, neste trabalho tentar-se-á descobrir de que forma uma subsidiária duma empresa multinacional tira proveito e, por outro lado, contribui para a criação e difusão do conhecimento no grupo. Analisando o caso particular da Siemens Portugal, estudar-se-á como é que esta utiliza os instrumentos de gestão da informação e do conhecimento nos seus processos internos de partilha de conhecimento e como são geridas as dificuldades que surgem nesses processos entre a Siemens Portugal e a empresa-mãe do grupo Siemens.
Firms are increasingly aware of the importance of knowledge management to achieve competitive advantage. However, to actually take advantage of this, they need to know how it really works, how it is characterized, what benefits and difficulties it provides, being able to distinguish it from the information management. The theme of this research, which is an important field of Management and Industrial Strategy, addresses the issue of knowledge management, of utmost importance in supporting decision-making, and knowledge itself, which is today the largest capital of the companies. This question is particularly relevant in the context of multinational companies, since these are the ones that have more difficulties managing their organizational knowledge. Thus, this paper will try to find out how a subsidiary of a multinational company takes advantage and, moreover, contributes to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the group. Analyzing the case of Siemens Portugal, we will study how this uses the instruments of information and knowledge management in their internal processes of knowledge sharing and how this manages the difficulties that arise in these processes between Siemens Portugal and the parent company of the Siemens group.

Texto completoThis report is the result of a master thesis work which has been carried out at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB (SIT). The aim of the study has been to examine the possibilities of improving the internal material handling at SIT by making the flow of materials more efficient.
SIT develops, manufacture and sell steam and gas turbines to industrial customers all over the world. The site in Finspång consists of a number of workshops which are geographical spread across a fairly large area. This creates a need for material movements and transports that does not add any value to the final products being made.
To examine the possibilities of making the material handling at SIT more efficient, a description of the present situation and a mapping of the internal material flows have been made. With the mapping as a starting point, a proposal for how to improve the material flow is presented and analyzed regarding both quantitative and qualitative aspects.
The proposal, which is overarching and describes general effects rather than details, suggests that SIT relocate the core engine assembly department from the area called “Centrum” to the area called “Norrmalm” and locate the incoming goods area as close as possible to the place of the consumption of the material.
The analysis of the mapping shows that there is 180 kilometers of internal transports at SIT every week. In this distance, transport between different departments and different working stations in the same building, are not included. The need for transports exists mainly because of the fact that SIT has its incoming goods area located at Norrmalm, approximately 2.2 kilometers away from its warehouse building and by implementing the proposal given in this work, the weekly transport distance will decrease by 60 percent. Apart from the decrease in distance, the change will also make it possible to simplify the goods receiving process.

Texto completoSiemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB (SIT) tillverkar gasturbiner och bedriver service av både gas och ångturbiner. Verksamheten har man belägen i Finspång och Trollhättan och kunderna finns belägna i hela världen. Under senare år har Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB serviceverksamhet vuxit kraftigt och i dag returnerar företaget en stor mängd delar för reparation och rekonditionering. Vid ett underhåll på kundens turbin används både verktyg och instrument som hyrs ut till underhåll över hela värden och när underhållet är klart ska de returneras till Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB i Finspång. Examensarbetet har studerat Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery ABs returprocesser för gods från kundens plats till Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery ABs i Finspång och Trollhättan. Returprocesserna kan delas in i tre huvud typer: Planerade delar, Oplanerade delar och Verktyg och Instrument. Returprocesserna och dess angränsade processer har kartlagts för att få en bild av nuläget, arbetet har även sammanställt kraven utifrån processerna före, under och efter returprocessen. Utifrån kravbilden har 26 åtgärder tagits fram som berör returprocesserna. Åtgärderna har prioriterats och diskuterats på två seminarier med Siemens personal från flera olika avdelningar som hanterar returer. Prioriteringen samt författarnas egen förståelse för processerna har utmynnat i ett förslag till hur Siemens ska gå till väga för att förbättra returprocesserna. Förslagen har då delats in i tre steg för att Siemens ska kunna fokusera på rätt sak i rätt ordning under förändringsarbetets gång. Åtgärderna behandlar bättre kommunikation, minskad variation i utfallet av processerna, korrekta överlämningar mellan processer och delprocesser, förändringar i arbetsrutiner och vilken information som krävs för att processerna ska fungera bättre. Ett av de viktigaste områdena är att Siemens måste förbättra underlaget för returerna när de planerar ett underhåll för kundens turbin. Siemens måste även bli bättre att föra ut information om returen till deras personal på plats hos kund. Studien har även undersökt hur ett internt mätsystem skulle förbättra processen. Av 22 mätpunkter har studien visat att 6 mätpunkter är intressanta för returprocesserna, de skulle hjälpa Siemens att skaffa kontroll på processen, styra mot förbättringar och kunna dra slutsatser om framtida förändringar.

Texto completoHigher expectations on sustainability, safety and ergonomics, sets higher demands on an increasing number of areas, including PLC- and HMI-programming. The purpose of this work has been to modify an analog input block with associated faceplate and faceplate icon from Siemens Open Library. A comparsion has been made between the different types of programming, according to such aspects as; safety, sustainability, cycle-time, visual aspects and ergonomics. The programmings have also been compared to two different standards; SSG 5262 and ISO 13849-1. The aim with this thesis work has been to examine how an increased functionality can affect other aspects, such as ergonomics, cycle-time, safety and sustainability. PLC:s, a type of programmable computer, can only read bit patterns and for to be able to read analog signals, the PLC needs an AD-converter. PLC:s from Siemens convert the signal to a resolution of 16 bit and also provides error code when the input signal is too high or too low. With communication between humans and machines, some form of interface is needed and the open source library ”Open Library” from Siemens, provides such interfaces in the form of faceplates. In the library, there are functions that are already programmed, motor control beeing one of them. The program code was written in the FBD language and the standard IEC 61131-3 describes the structure of this and other languages used for PLC programming. After a litterature study on the subject, an implementation of new functions was made, according to requests from the company ÅF-consult. The new functions that were programmed were; a hysteresis function for alarm boundaries, filter function with damping, graphic representation of the filtered signal, display of trend curves, sensor type and help window in the faceplate. A logging function was also programmed, with a button that saved input values in a datablock. The cycle-time was measured to somewhat longer than one millisecond for an average cycle-time for each PLC-block. The longest cycle-time for the original block was 72.892 milliseconds and the longest for the modification was 158.174 milliseconds. The faceplate was made about 90 percent larger, to accomodate the new functions. The colors and the text sizes, were edited to better match the guidelines written in SSG 5262. The original faceplate has smaller text sizes and different colors on process values, than advocated by SSG 5262. Neither of the programmings is completely according to ISO 13849-1, even if they contain safety-related functions. With regards to visual- and ergonomical aspects, both the original and the modified faceplate could be said to be ”pleasant for the eyes”, with few colors. From an ergonomic view the modification can be viewed as somewhat better because of larger text sizes and standardized process value colors. From a sustainability- and ethical perspective, it is difficult to determine which programming is best, because more functions can give longer cycle-times and thereby eventually higher energy consumption, but can give value in the form of time-savings and possibly money-savings.

It was founded in Stockholm in 1996 where the head office still is today. They are World-leading in its genre and because of big customer requests offices have been established in USA and in China.This thesis has been executed by request of MM with help from their customers and their CAD-suppliers.It treats modularization and how it can be realized with the help of Computer Aided Design (CAD). This is a product of MM that is called Modular Modeling and because of confidentiality a great part of the results has been left out of the report.The aim is to find a flexible yet robust and intuitive method to deploy modularization with Siemens CAD software NX7.5 in context of its Product Lifecycle Management- (PLM) system Teamcenter.The thesis began with studies and analyses of both modularization and the software that have been used. The outcome of the analysis is a list of requirements that has been translated into operations required for a fully supported Modular Modeling. Solutions to these have then been found by modeling in NX and Teamcenter. These were then methodically evaluated and a method has been extracted.During the thesis the biggest difficulties have been to find alternate solutions to specific functionality that is not provided without finding a workaround but also to get access to a Teamcenter test environment.The result of the thesis is a method that fully supports Modular Modeling even if some operations require a workaround. This method has been documented in a user guide which will be used by customers of MM and presentation material that communicates the method and which will be used by consultants of MM.

I denna totallösning saknar företaget idag ”typkretsar” för Siemens PL C- system för manöver, kontroll och övervakning av styrda processobjekt. Rapporten inleds med en beskrivning av företaget. Sedan beskrivs syftet med examensarbetet, samt den kravspecifikation som legat till grund för arbetet. Efter detta redogörs hur arbetet började med en förstudie i mjukvaruprogrammen för Mitsubishi PLC- system. Rapporten fortsätter sedan med hur programmen till Siemens PLC- system fungerar samt vilka komponenter som användes. Resultatet blev en dokumentation av konverteringen av fyra typkretsar, samt framtagning till två helt nya typkretsar. Till dessa typkretsar gjordes även ett operatörsgränssnitt. Programkoden till alla typkretsar finns med i rapporten som en bilaga, där varje programmeringsstycke är kommenterat för att det ska bli lättare att förstå. Även operatörsbilderna till varje typkrets finns som bilaga där de förklaras hur de fungerar.

Texto completoThis paper treats two competing suppliers of automation technology, Siemens and Rockwell Automation and directly compares them for a given set of factors in the following categories: performance, communication and software tools. The study consists of performance tests made on different PLC’s from these suppliers, considerations in the differences of communication technology and analysis of the programming tools according to chosen criteria’s but also by the degree of compliance with internationally established standards. The tests have shown the PLC from Rockwell Automation as having better performance for the chosen criteria (PLC’s for small to medium sized machines). Siemens offers more performance and more stable industrial ethernet communication over ProfiNET than does Rockwell Automation with EtherNet/IP. Accordingly, Siemens offers more flexibility in meeting future industrial needs. The software tools provided by Siemens offer a more object-oriented approach for programming PLC’s than equivalent tools from Rockwell Automation. TIA Portal offered by Siemens is more than twice as compliant with the internationally accepted standard IEC 61131-3 as Studio 5000 from Rockwell and in being more compliant benefits from increased interoperability and effective programming. The results show that Siemens’ products and services for automation benefits the customer in long term viability.

Texto completoI en stor och komplex organisation kan det vara svårt att skapa sig en helhetsbild och se sitt arbete i relation till organisationens övergripande syfte. En sådan helhetsbild kan skapas genom att kartlägga och dokumentera aktivitetsflödet i organisationen. Processutveckling tillhandahåller verktyg för att eliminera dubbelarbete och spill och skapa bättre värde för organisationens kunder. Som resultat av detta förenklas arbetet, kostnader kan lättare reduceras och ledtider kan minskas. Allt detta sammantaget leder till ökad konkurrenskraft.
Syftet med detta examensarbete är att införa grunderna för processutveckling på Siemens GPMT. Vårt mål är att introducera och etablera ett processinriktat synsätt samt skapa verktyg för att avdelningen i framtiden själv skall kunna utveckla sin verksamhet.
Rapporten inleds med en presentation av företaget och den problembakgrund som har föranlett examensarbetet. Centrala teorier ochen allmänt applicerbar metodik för processutveckling beskrivs ingående. Slutligen presenteras de resultat vi kommit fram till under arbetets gång och en avslutande diskussion.
Vi har skapat beskrivningar av arbetet samt underlag för mätning och uppföljning av processernas prestanda. Dessutom har vi tagit fram en ledningsstruktur för fortsatt arbete med processutveckling.
Väldokumenterade processer och standardiserade arbetsrutiner är ingen garanti för goda resultat. De anger endast den befintliga kunskapsnivån som finns inom organisationen. Deras fulla potential kan endast utnyttjas om personalen verkligen tror på deras värde och arbetar för att utveckla och driva verksamheten framåt.
Vi är övertygade om att GPMT, genom att ta till sig de resonemang som vi presenterat under vårt arbete och arbetar aktivt med de metoder som vi beskrivit, kommer att utvecklas till att bli en förebild för alla andra avdelningar på Siemens.
In a large and complex organization, it is often difficult to obtain acomplete picture and be able to see individual contributions to the overall objectives of the organization.
A wide perspective can be created through mapping and documentation of the work-flow within the organization. Process management is a method containing tools that facilitates elimination of overlapping activities and waste, which leads to greater value for the customers. Through this method, work is simplified, costs can be reduced and lead-times shortened. The end result is an improved market position.
The purpose of this thesis work is to set up the fundamentals of process management at Siemens GPMT. Our goal is to introduce and establish a process oriented perspective and provide tools for the department to be able to improve their processes.
The report starts with a presentation of the company and the problembackground that has led to this thesis. Essential theories and methods for process management are thoroughly described. The results we have found under the project are presented along with a final discussion and conclusions.
We have created work descriptions along with tools for measuring and evaluating the performance of the processes. We have also created a structure for further work with process management.
Well documented processes and work standards are no guarantee for good results. They only present the current level of knowledge within the organization. Their full potential can only be utilized if the personnel really believe in their value and strive to continuously improve the business.
We are firmly convinced that GPMT, by adopting our recommendations and actively working with the methods we have described, will develop to be a role model for all other departments at Siemens.

Texto completoSiemens Healthcare provides imaging and laboratory diagnostics and IT-solutions for operators within healthcare. In order to provide their customers with good service, Siemens Healthcare have a specific service process and guidelines that describe the process step by step - from the time an errand is created until it is completed. The errands include services such as unscheduled errands, predetermined maintenances, updates, and installations and upgrades. The service process includes different professional roles, areas and departments performing various tasks in the handling of an errand, and multiple professional roles that provide support within the service process. In 2014 an internal audit was conducted at Siemens Healthcare in Sweden which showed that they did not follow the exact guidelines for the processes and the documentation within the service process. The goal with this thesis was to analyze and map supports and barriers for the staff to be able to follow the guidelines, and give recommendations on how compliance to the guidelines can be improved. To achieve this goal, 16 interviews were conducted with all the professionals who work within the service process or work as a support. Two different types of interviews were conducted. Two observations were also performed of two different professional roles. The interviews were then analyzed using a qualitative content analysis and processed to provide a probability and work effort chart that showed subjects of interest. As a part of the method, an improvement event has also been performed to start the improvement work together with the employees and the management. The result showed that there are several supportive and prohibitive factors for the staff to be able to follow the guidelines. The factors include the formulation and implementation of the guidelines, and that there were a vague and variable and unclear division of work. The factors also included education and support within the IT systems, and that there were a more or less lack of communication and understanding between some departments and professional roles. The recommendations is to rephrase the guidelines in consultation with the employees, standardize and describe the work routines, look over the system support and the system functions, and introduce cross-functional meetings and groups between different professional roles and departments. These recommendations could not only improve the compliance with the guidelines, but the organization and its employees could also continuously develop.

Texto completoAt the beginning of the year 2021, a case study was carried out at Siemens Energy AB in Trollhättan. The purpose of the study was to come up with proposals of working methods for digitalized preparations in the program PLM2020 and how these can be introduced in the business. The purpose was also to develop a working method that streamlines and increases the degree of quality assurance regarding creation and change of production preparations. The questions that the work would answer were: How will Siemens Energy AB in Trollhättan introduce the work with digitalized productionpreparations? • How should the working method for production preparation be designed? • How should the work instructions be designed? • What new needs are being created at Siemens Energy AB in Trollhättan as a result of the new way of working? • How can the future way of working be standardized? • Can this approach be verified with a concrete example? A description of the current situation was made to map what different affected processes look like at present. Processes affected by the mapping of the current situation were the current preparation process, the current work in PLM2020, the current process with work instructions and Siemens Energy AB in Finspång's work with preparations in PLM2020. This was done with interviews of employees at Siemens Energy AB. Following the description of the current situation, a method was developed for preparation work in PLM2020, which will replace the current preparation process performed in the business system. The method that was developed promotes quality assurance in the business preparation process through review and audit management of preparations. Meanwhile, it was determined how workinstructions would be designed, what new needs occur and how standardization of the method would be designed. A concrete example of how the method works could not be fully implemented, as Siemens Energy had some system problems during the case study. The conclusion that could be drawn from the work was that the purpose was mostly fulfilled. There is some uncertainty as to whether the new way of working is more efficient than today. Prerequisites required for the new way of working to be effective are that the personsconcerned receive the right training and information before complete implementation.

Även omdet möjliggör fjärrkommunikation så introduceras även stora problem när elnätenblir uppkopplade, till exempel risken att bli utsatt för cyberattacker.I detta examensarbete utfördes en säkerhetsanalys av en SICAM CMIC CP-8000 fjärrterminal, tillverkad av Siemens, som används för fjärrstyrning ochautomatisering av elnät. En hotmodell för att identifiera sårbarheter i systemetgjordes, följt av penetrationstesting av hemsidan som används för att konfigureraenheten, samt några nätverksattacker. Under penetrationstestningen hittadestvå cross-site scripting-sårbarheter, där den ena kunde tillåta en oautentiseradangripare att exekvera Javascript-kod i offrets webbläsare. Det upptäcktesäven att en användares inloggningsuppgifter läcktes i webbläsarens konsol iklartext när användaren loggar in.

The history of this company has been largely studied in the German world but it is not poorly known by the French public. Between 1847, when the Company S&H was founded and 1981, when Peter von Siemens, the founder's great grandson, withdraw from supervisory board, seven members of the founding family supervised ans ruled the Company. For 134 years, the family capitalism has been able to carry art the destiny of this company. This study starts from the follawry hypothesis : could the Siemens longevity, its long lasting success be explained by the special relationship that existed between the founding family and the company ? The goal is to study closely the way of functionary of this typical family firm in order to show some characteristics of the German family capitalism. This study means to contribute to other studies already carried out on the "German model of capitalism". To recount the main steps of the history of this company, a chronological procedure was adopted. It is very relevant, for academic or for society purposes as a whole the subject 'corruption', a recurring problem that plagues companies and Governments in various parts of the world. Many recent cases draw attention to this topic, but one in particular, the case of corruption of the company Siemens AG, that resulted in the payment of the largest fines in the history on your model, based on the terms of the FCPA since it became law in 1977. This event caters specifically to the objective of this work which is to make an analysis based on agency theory and the codes of good practices of corporate governance on how large companies revising their corporate management systems and practices aiming at the recovery of its institutional image after significant impact on the company, such as the corruption scandal in which Siemens was involved. For this study, we opted for qualitative research as a methodological path contemplating the single case study. In the process of data collection were used data obtained through documentary research about the corruption scandal on public collection available in the internet. Open conversations were made with 3 compliance Department officials of Siemens for the purposes of understanding the case with. At the end of this work, it was observed in the Siemens turnaround process a correlation between what was proposed by the Agency Theory about internal control Systems based on what was accomplished by the company when promoted an extensive restructuring of the Department of compliance and corporate governance system, the improvement of internal controls, as well as the creation of detection tools , control, analysis and prevention of fraud, which were used to minimize the effects generated by the conflict of interest covered by the theory of Agency. É de grande relevância, tanto no meio acadêmico como para a sociedade como um todo o assunto 'corrupção', um problema recorrente que assola empresas e governos em várias partes do mundo. Muitos casos recentes chamam a atenção para este tema, mas um em especial, o caso de corrupção da Empresa Siemens AG, que resultou no pagamento das maiores multas da história na sua modalidade, baseada nos termos de conduta do FCPA desde que este se tornou lei em 1977. Este caso atende especificamente ao objetivo deste trabalho que é o de fazer uma análise baseada na Teoria da agência e nos códigos de boas práticas de governança corporativa sobre 'como' as grandes empresas reformulam seus sistemas e práticas de gestão corporativa visando à recuperação de sua imagem institucional após significativo impacto sobre a empresa, como no caso o escândalo de corrupção em que a Siemens esteve envolvida. Para a realização deste estudo, optou-se pela pesquisa qualitativa como percurso metodológico contemplando a modalidade estudo de caso único. No processo de coleta de dados, foram usados dados obtidos através de pesquisa documental de acervo público disponível na internet sobre o escândalo de corrupção. Foram feitas ainda conversas abertas para fins de entendimento sobre o caso com 3 funcionários do departamento de compliance da Siemens. Ao final do trabalho, observou-se no processo de turnaround uma correlação entre o que foi proposto pela Teoria da Agencia no âmbito dos Sistemas de Controles internos com o que foi realizado pela empresa que promoveu uma ampla reestruturação do departamento de compliance e do sistema de Governança Corporativa, o aprimoramento dos controles internos, bem como a criação de ferramentas de detecção, controle, análise e prevenção de fraudes, que foram usados com o objetivo de minimizar os efeitos gerados pelo conflitos de interesse abordados pela Teoria da Agência.

Texto completoDenna rapport syftar till att undersöka hur Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB i Finspång har valt att arbeta med processförbättringsmetoden Six Sigma, som är en mycket populär metod för att genomföra processförbättringsprojekt och mycket attraktiv för företag som ska arbeta med sådana.
Metoden bygger på statistik och att fatta välinformerade beslut. Detta görs genom att samla team-medlemmar från den process som ska förbättras och genom att göra mätningar inom sagda process. Man börjar ett projekt genom att definiera problemet, går vidare med att mäta den aktuella processen, analyserar sedan de data man fått in, försöker komma på lösningar och slutligen implementerar man den lösning man bedömt som bäst.
Vi gjorde en kvalitativ fallstudie på företaget och intervjuade över ett dussin personer som hade olika grader av bekanthet med Six Sigma, för att få utsagor från personer med olika perspektiv på metoden. Av detta fick vi veta att de som har varit med i ett förbättringsprojekt eller har utbildat sig inom Six Sigma var begränsade till en knapp tiondel av de anställda på företaget, men att de som var insatta i metoden var ganska väl insatta.
Vi går igenom ett antal faktorer inom Six Sigma och projekt baserade på metoden och ställer dessa mot relaterade teorier så att vi kan dra slutsatser.
Slutligen tar vi upp våra slutsatser och avslutande reflektioner där vi kommer fram till att mycket av problemen med metoden ligger i om man inte använder den fullt ut utan försöker klara sig utan att ge de resurser som krävs men att metoden annars ger ett stabilt ramverk för processutveckling.

Texto completoThis thesis covers the development of a simulator for the Siemens Gas Tur-bine SGT-600. An explanation on how a gas turbine works is also given, as well as the principles behind the control system used by Siemens to control the turbine.
For Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery to be able to test its control sys-tem before delivering a gas turbine to the customer, a simulator is needed. The control system needs to be adjusted for every unique gas turbine, since there are several options for the customer to choose between when ordering the turbine. A control system standard is under development, which also needs to be tested in a simulator.
The framework for the simulator, i.e. the hardware and software that form the simulator system, was predefined to suit this specific purpose. The Siemens software SIMIT is used for developing the model. SIMIT is a real time simulation tool where models are constructed using blocks, similar to MATLAB Simulink.
A gas turbine is basically a heat engine that produces mechanical energy or electricity. The main task of the control system is to control the fuel flow to the combustion chamber and by that keeping the machine at desired speed.
The gas turbine model was developed using measurement data from a site in Hungary, where a gas turbine of the type SGT-600 is in service. The model is based on simplified relations between the signals. By analyzing measurement data and learning about the functionality of a gas turbine it was found out that the speed of the gas generator affected most other sig-nals, like temperatures and pressures. The gas generator speed was found to be dependent on the heat flow, which is determined by the openings of the gas control valves.
As a result of this thesis a working simulator for the gas turbine SGT-600 has been developed. The simulator can be used for testing the control sys-tem standard and for testing the control system when adapting it to a spe-cific delivery. It is also suitable for educational purposes, for example to instruct customers.

Texto completoSyftet med detta examensarbete är att analysera packinspektionsflödet samt att presentera förbättringsförslag för att effektivisera transportpackningsprocessen och reducera platsbristen på packytan. Arbetet är utfört på Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB (SIT) i Finspång under sommaren och hösten 2009.
SIT är en del av det tyskägda företaget Siemens AG och är ett världsledande företag inom tillverkning av gas- och ångturbiner. Ett påtagligt problem är den platsbrist som råder och företaget har inga egna möjligheter att lagra ytterligare produkter, vare sig kortidslagring eller långtidslagring. Vidare är tillverkningskedjan ursprungligen utformad för att klara av ett fåtal kontinuerliga beställningar. I nuläget befinner sig företaget i en situation där de tillverkar fler turbiner än någonsin, vilket medför att både maskiner och personal utsätts för en högre belastning och tillverkningsprojekten måste bedrivas parallellt utan störningar för att kunna produceras i tid. En störning som företaget vill begränsa är den som uppstår vid packinspektioner. Under leveransfasen transportpackas leveransen och i ett fåtal av projekten kräver kunden en packinspektion innan leverans sker.
För att kartlägga packinspektionsmomentet har en nulägesbeskrivning av befintlig process konstruerats. Därifrån konstaterades att den störning som en packinspektion medför är en dominoeffekt som påverkar flera avdelningar i företaget såsom, spedition, transportpackning samt kvalitetsavdelningen. Nulägesbeskrivningen har sedan utgjort underlag för att ta fram de förbättringsförslag som presenteras för att reducera platsbristen på packytan. Majoriteten av förbättringsförslagen baseras på Lean-konceptet, där huvudsyftet har varit att minimera påverkan av packinspektionerna i verksamheten för att få ett bättre flöde, hålla hög kundservice samt minimera ytan som en packinspektion upptar. Ett exempel på detta kan vara att strukturera befintlig packinspektionsprocess.
Resultatet av de förbättringsförslag som redovisats i analysdelen påvisar att det går att få ett bättre flöde genom packinspektionsmomentet samtidigt som packytan inte blir lika belastad vid en packinspektion. I framtiden kommer de förbättringsförslag som behandlas att kunna tillämpas på andra avdelningar och företag som tillämpar packinspektioner.

Texto completoThis master’s thesis in the area of Lean Production adjust, apply and develop the method for Value Stream Mapping at Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB:s production of diaphragms. The company stands to an increased demand of steam turbines, in which diaphragms are components. Today the manufacturing of diaphragms is carried out in a conventional workshop divided into functional departments. The production process consists of more than 20 operations. The aim for the Value Stream Mapping of the production process of diaphragms is to present an improved production system with ability to reach the future demand of diaphragms to steam turbines. The method for Value Stream Mapping origins from Toyota and the automobile industry and this master’s thesis develops the method for low volume make‐to‐order production and presents a methodology guide for lean implementers. The suggested methodology recommends that a cross‐functional team is gathered to map and develop the operations. When educating the team it is important to show examples from the same kind of industry, preferably from the own company, to create a positive feeling of identification. By the given presumptions the value stream mapping resulted in a product oriented layout with a u‐shaped material flow. The layout is divided into the three production cells in which each work in process is controlled by CONWIP. At the dimensioning demand the suggested improvements are calculated to result in a lead time reduction by 70 % and the capitalization in work in process is reduced by 2.7 million euros. To reach this target the focus in the organization needs to be changed into flow of material and takt time. Today’s capacity oriented focus sub‐optimizes the system – the goal is to deliver products at the right time, amount and quality to the customer at a low cost, not activate machines. Education is a key in the cultural change that is needed to create a learning organization with few disturbances and a fast material flow. The Value Stream Mapping of diaphragms resulted in directed suggestions where in the production flow certain lean production tools will generate most advantages for the Value Stream.
