Resumen
This study examined farmers' understanding toward the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) policy in East Java, Indonesia. It focused on 16 question items, namely 1) WRS existence, 2) WRS definition, 3) WRS rules, 4) WRS function, 5) WRS to prevent risks, 6) WRS as a marketing solution, 7) types of commodities stored in warehouse, 8) warehouse receipt as collateral, 9) security of the stored goods, 10) insurance for the stored goods, 11) WRS to solve issue related to capital, 12) WRS facilities, 13) WRS services, 14) time allotment to publish warehouse receipt, 15) storage procedures, 16) institution/ individual associated to WRS. The study was conducted in six districts, Sampang, Probolinggo, Situbondo, Madiun, Nganjuk, Tuban. The data analysis was Likert scale. Item 14 had the highest result with total score of 116 (64.4%) It meant the respondents (farmers) understood they had to wait 1 or 2 days between storage process and publishing the receipt. Item 16 had the lowest result with total score of 84 (46.7%) meaning the respondents quite understood that warehouse manager, financial institution (bank) and quality control staffs were people involved in the management of WRS. Having obtained the data from farmers that did not use WRS it was found that item 7 had the highest score (177 or 59%). It implied that the respondents quite understood that grain, corn and rice were the types of commodities that they could store in the warehouse. However, most of the respondents were not aware that they could store other commodities such as coffee, chocolate, and salt in the warehouse.

Resumen
Abstract. CityGML is an international standard issued by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) for representing and exchanging Semantic 3D City Models. Due to their large scale and deeply nested structures, the management and visualization of CityGML based models require sophisticated solutions such as the 3D City Database (3DCityDB). The research work presented in this article proposes a high level architecture for extending the 3D City Database to store and manage dynamic properties encoded within a new Application Domain Extension (ADE) of CityGML called Dynamizer ADE. The implementation employs the 3DCityDB 4.2 ADE Plugin Manager, which provides an automatic way for dynamically extending the 3DCityDB to support the storage and management of CityGML models with ADEs. The paper introduces a relational database model for storing and managing the Dynamizer ADE within the 3DCityDB. Further, the research work includes the extension of the 3DCityDB Importer/Exporter in order to import and export CityGML documents including Dynamizer ADE data. 3DCityDB already comes with a Web Feature Service (WFS) interface allowing CityGML features to be requested in standardized ways. The proposed framework enables CityGML Viewers to access static data (using OGC WFS interface) and dynamic data (using the OGC SWE interfaces) in an integrated fashion.

Resumen
Information Technology is a part of strategic part for enterprise strategic planning. Information Technology can help the enterprise to determine its strategic planning. Through data from the past, thecompany can learn something and help to decide some strategic issue. A Multistore Company in Yogyakarta has more than five stores. The problem raises to generate real-time sales reporting. Sales manager and owner do not have access to real-time sales condition. To ease management analyzing and reporting sales condition, dimension model of the sales data needs to be built. This dimension model will help to make executive report from some dimensions mentioned in data warehouse. Sales data will pass through some processes: Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) in order to prepare the data warehouse. This process is preprocessing data before dimensional model is built. In this research multi-dimensional modelling by taking data from 3 stores ranging from 1 February 2014 to 31 January 2015. By implementing sales executive dashboard, it helps to monitor and analyze sales condition. Dashboard shows graphic which ease user, especially sales manager and owner to learn current and updated sales condition based on dimensions: time, outlet / store, and product. Report gives detail information and multidimensionalhelps to analyze data from different perspective. Index Terms—Dashboard, Multi Dimentional Model, ETL, Executive Reporting REFERENCES[1] W. Resumen
Convenience stores in Taiwan have integrated e-commerce systems into their logistics systems to develop a new retail delivery model. Store-to-store delivery service is the one of the retail delivery systems served by FamilyMart.com and 7-11.com. The delivery system is complicated and risky. This paper are explores the structure of logistic for store-to-store delivery service for electronic commerce and develops a hierarchical framework and evaluation model to evaluate the logistics vulnerability of two store-to-store delivery service providers in Taiwan. With the results of the most vulnerable parts in store-to-store delivery system, managers could add resources and formulate strategies to strengthen them and reduce the frequency of the events that have higher failure probabilities.

Resumen
The landscape of convenient store businesses or minimarkets now have changed. Location base strategy has not been sufficient any longer now. Psychographic and Demographic approaches tend to share a newly built power. Two main variables that have been managed concern at retail level are the store image and the store atmosphere. While the store image dimensions that can be put into considerations are the items offered, services committed, who and the amount of customers, physical facilities, promotion and convenience, store atmosphere, especially the involvement of affections through built emotions status in store which possibly uncautioned wholly by the customers when doing shopping. Since officially opened, the 7-Eleven had offered unique facilities. Instead of providing instant foods and beverages for 24 hours, the 7-Eleven also provides convenient corners and tables to eat and drink and provides chatting facilities for customers who need it. These make other modern retailers following the concept: opened for 24 hours and providing chatting facilities for young people.

Resumen
Background Consumer food environments are increasingly being recognized as influential determinants of food purchasing and subsequent intake and health. We developed a tool to enable efficient, but relatively comprehensive, appraisal of the in-store food environment. The Store Scout mobile app facilitates the evaluation of product (availability and range), placement (visibility, accessibility, proximity to high-traffic areas, and location relative to other products), price (price promotion), and promotion (displays and advertising) across 7 categories of food products, with appraisal given immediately as scores (0-100, where a higher score is more in line with best practice). Primary end users are public health nutritionists and nutritionists employed by store organizations; however, store managers and staff are also potential end users. Objective This study aims to evaluate the reliability (interrater reliability and internal consistency), utility (distribution of scores), and construct validity (score by store type) of measurements using the Store Scout mobile app. Methods The Store Scout mobile app was used independently by 2 surveyors to evaluate the store environment in 54 stores: 34 metropolitan stores (9 small and 11 large supermarkets, 10 convenience stores, and 4 petrol stations) in Brisbane, Australia, and 20 remote stores (19 small supermarkets and 1 petrol station) in Indigenous Australian communities in Northern Australia. The agreement between surveyors in the overall and category scores was evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Interrater reliability of measurement items was assessed using percentage agreement and the Gwet agreement coefficient (AC). Internal consistency was assessed by comparing the responses of items measuring similar aspects of the store environment. We examined the distribution of score values using boxplots and differences by store type using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results The median difference in the overall score between surveyors was 4.4 (range 0.0-11.1), with an ICC of 0.954 (95% CI 0.914-0.975). Most measurement items had very good (n=74/196, 37.8%) or good (n=81/196, 41.3%) interrater reliability using the Gwet AC. A minimal inconsistency of measurement was found. Overall scores ranged from 19.2 to 81.6. There was a significant difference in score by store type (P<.001). Large Brisbane supermarkets scored highest (median 77.4, range 53.2-81.6), whereas small Brisbane supermarkets (median 63.9, range 41.0-71.3) and small remote supermarkets (median 63.8, range 56.5-74.9) scored significantly higher than Brisbane petrol stations (median 33.1, range 19.2-37.8) and convenience stores (median 39.0, range 22.4-63.8). Conclusions These findings suggest good reliability and internal consistency of food environment measurements using the Store Scout mobile app. We identified specific aspects that can be improved to further increase the reliability of this tool. We found a good distribution of score values and evidence that scoring could capture differences by store type in line with previous evidence, which gives an indication of construct validity. The Store Scout mobile app shows promise in its capability to measure and track the health-enabling characteristics of store environments.

Resumen
BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy considers a golden surgery for gallbladder removal nowadays, and it carries some complications like biliary injuries, which can manage successfully by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. AIM: To estimate the role of endoscopic management of bile duct injury (BDI) following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. PATIENT AND METHODS: A prospective study conducted at Al-Sader Medical City, Najaf City, Iraq, during the period between September 2018 and December 2020, included 44 patients complicated by the biliary injury resulting in a persistent biliary leak and/or jaundice after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and evaluated by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). RESULTS: Findings revealed that 25% of cases had complete BDI, only one managed by plastic stent placement, the other 10 referred for open surgical constructions, 61% had partial injury associated with the biliary leak, all managed by sphincterotomy and plastic stent placement through ERCP, almost 7% had a partial clipping of bile duct all managed with sphincterotomy, balloon dilatation/stone extraction, and plastic stent placement, 5% had slipped clips of cystic duct stump, are managed with sphincterotomy and plastic stent placement. Moreover, only one patient, 2%, had distal common bile duct stone with bile leak, managed by sphincterotomy and stone extraction. CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a gold standard therapeutic option for symptomatic cholecystolithiasis, is associated with an increased risk of biliary injury due to many factors. ERCP is a safe means of diagnosing the cause of bile leakage after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It also offers definitive treatment in most cases by endoscopic sphincterotomy and plastic stent placement.

Resumen
Purpose Despite the pressure on work-family polices arising from the increase in nonstandard working times in various sectors, only a few studies have addressed management practices in 24/7 workplaces. This paper aims to investigate the challenges Finnish managers face in meeting the various tensions stemming from nonstandard working hours and services operating 24/7. Two typical 24/7 work contexts are focused: the hospitality and retail industries and flexibly scheduled early childhood education and care (ECEC) services. The emphasis is on management practices relating to the planning of work shifts and children’s care schedules. Design/methodology/approach Study 1 comprises focus group interviews with middle managers (N = 20) working in hotels, stores and service stations with restaurants and shopping facilities. Study 2 uses survey data on directors (N = 20) of centers offering flexibly scheduled ECEC services. Findings The results showed that management in 24/7 workplaces raises issues of fairness and social responsibility. Managers in both sectors were faced with constantly varying service demands, leading further to changes and unpredictability in employee working times. Alongside organizational goals, the business managers reported needing to consider employee needs and the ECEC service directors the well-being of parents and children. They also reported seeking the most cost-effective way to deliver services at a time of budget cuts. Research limitations/implications The relatively small sample sizes and non-representative nature of the data restrict the generalizability of the results. Practical implications Service organizations need to design a 24/7 strategy that includes organizational communication and guidelines on fair work scheduling. Key issues in management are finding ways to enhance predictability within unpredictability, discussing the most common ethical problems and developing the skills needed to manage diversity. These are elements that should be included in management training. Originality/value The study contributes to the literature by focusing on seldom studied issues and innovately approached by comparing two work sectors.

Texto completo
Background and problem: Retail has long been characterized as a feminized trade, where women have been overrepresented. Although women make up the majority of theemployees in the trade, they are disproportionately represented in managerial positions.Which is because women's opportunities to reach a managerial position have been verysmall. The explanation can be attributed to the fact that women have historicallyexperienced factors that prevent their career progression, which men, on the other hand, have not encountered. Which has meant a non-equality between the sexes in terms oftheir opportunities to ascend in their work. It can be stated that women have facedchallenges when it comes to reaching higher positions, however, previous studies haveidentified both factors that have facilitated and made it more difficult for both sexes intheir career progression as store managers in retail. Purpose: The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to gain an increased understanding of thepotential factors that can affect the career progression of male and female store managersin a large Swedish retail company. That is, the perceived factors that have so farfacilitated a retail manager's career in Sweden, and the perceived factors that these retailstore managers experience have been problematic for their career progression. Method: The bachelor thesis is based on a qualitative research method where the data forthe study was collected with the help of semi-structured interviews with five female andfive male retail store managers in a large Swedish retail company. Results: The bachelor thesis shows, based on the retail store managers' experiences, thata development has taken place compared with previous studies, as the female and malerespondents today experience fewer factors that have made it more difficult and morefactors that have facilitated their career progression. Although an improvement has beendemonstrated, there is still evidence that women, albeit to a lesser extent, still experiencemore factors that have hampered their career progression, and that men experience morefactors that have facilitated their career development, as a comparison between the sexes. The authors have also been able to identify two new factors as a contribution to futurestudies.

Resumen
Uric acid (UA) stones are typically red-orange and often appear as sand/ gravel though they may be large. They are totally radiolucent. They account for about 10% of all kidney stones in most countries, and up to 20% in some populations. It is twice as frequent in males, prevalence increases with age, and it is two to three times higher in patients with type 2 diabetes or with features of the metabolic syndrome. Factors that induce the formation of UA stones are a low urine volume, hyperuricosuria, and, more importantly, a permanently low urine pH (< 5). Indeed, below its pKa of 5.35 at 37°C, UA is in non-dissociated form, whose solubility is at best 100 mg/L, whereas urinary UA excretion normally exceeds 600 mg/day and may exceed 1g/day.Because UA solubility increases up to approximately 500 mg/L at urine pH > 6, urine alkalinization, with a target pH of 6.5–7, is the cornerstone of medical treatment. This most often allows dissolution of existing stones and prevention of recurrent stone formation so that urological intervention is infrequently needed. The preferred agent for alkalinization is potassium citrate (30–60 mEq/day in divided doses), because potassium urate is twice more soluble than sodium urate. However, in patients with poor gastric tolerance to potassium citrate or contraindication to potassium supplements, sodium bicarbonate is an acceptable alternative. Limitation of animal proteins, purine-rich foods (including beer), alcoholic drinks and acidified beverages (sodas) are useful measures, together with large fluid intake (> 2–2.5 L/day). Allopurinol may be indicated in cases of symptomatic hyperuricaemia. Regular observance of alkalinisation, with periodic controls of urine pH by the patient, is needed to prevent the rapid formation of UA stones. Patients affected by UANL, especially if overweight, should be evaluated for type 2 diabetes or glucose intolerance and managed accordingly.

Resumen
The aim of this chapter is to analyze the most relevant factors affecting retailers by investigating the relationships between store type, assortment level, customers' purchases, and sales productivity. Analyzing the dataset of the German retailer Rossmann through classification and regression tools, this work investigates what store type customers visit more often, what kind of assortment they prefer, and how sales profitability is affected by internal and external factors. Results show a tendency from customers to shop in smaller neighborhood markets rather than in the large shopping centers with extensive assortments, determining an increase in sales productivity in smaller size stores. Results suggest managers developing strategies for creating multiple retail formats in order to meet the diverse customers' tendencies in the today's market.

Resumen
Cloud computing is a new and promising technology that is transforming the paradigm of traditional Internet computing and probably the whole IT industry. Cloud computing is predicted to expand in the mobile environment leveraging on the rapid advances in wireless access technologies. These mobile applications are built around mobile cloud computing techniques and models. In the Mobile Cloud environment, users can remotely store their data as well as enjoy high quality on-demand cloud applications without the limitations of having to purchase and maintain their own local hardware and software. However, data security is still a major concern and is the main obstacle preventing cloud computing from being more widely adopted. This concern originates from the fact that sensitive data stored in the public clouds is managed by commercial service providers who might not be totally trustworthy. As such, there are several security and privacy issues that need to be addressed. This chapter gives an overview on the cloud computing concept followed by a description on mobile cloud computing and the different security issues pertinent to the mobile cloud computing environment.

Resumen
PFnet in the Solomon Islands is the first attempt to introduce rural e-mail stations in remote rural villages in isolated islands. It was established in 2001 under an UNDP-UNOPS project and was initially partly funded by UNDP. Since then the major funding has come from Japan, NZODA, Britain, Republic of China, AusAid and European Union (Leeming, 2003a). It is managed by the Rural Development Volunteer Association (RDVA), a registered NGO. PFnet has an Internet Café (head office) in Honiara, the capital city and operates a network hub with fourteen rural e-mail stations linked by HF (short-wave) radios with e-mails typed in a laptop and powered by solar energy (Stork, Leeming, and Biliki, 2003). PFnet provides for the information and communication needs of the rural people. It is a source of information (e.g., providing news, Internet access), source of communication (sending and receiving e-mails), and provider of typing, secretarial, and printing services. PFnet has been a success story in improving the information and communication needs of the rural people (Leeming, 2003b).

Resumen
Developed nations are experiencing economic growth through the advantages associated with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Digital resources along with Massive Open Online Courses provide educational opportunities to an ever-expanding population of students. Some areas, however, lack Internet connectivity and are unable to take advantage of ICTs needed to support the demands of global economies. Cloud computing is growing in usefulness as universities are able to work with remote applications and store data on cloud servers. Along with the ubiquitous Web and ICT resources, there is also the risk of too much information, which can negatively impact job performance and satisfaction. Even with reports of faculty concerns in disproportionate amount time needed to offer online courses, the university is experiencing growth in online education, extended opportunities for global education, and a challenge to manage an incessant flow of digital information.

Resumen
The ability to store and manage data has not kept pace with the rapid evolution and growth of information resources. According to TechWeb.com, companies are doubling their storage capacities every year. This action is driven primarily by data warehousing and the necessity to provide instant access to data and supply-chain management. The trend does not look to be slowing. Isolated and undermanaged data resources have become a common practice in the industry despite the fact that the capacities of these systems keep improving while their prices continue to fall. This chapter draws four related cases to assess methods for organizing data and data resources in organizations. Further, the chapter provides examples for organizations to become learning organizations based on their ability to actively collect and distribute knowledge and their ability to become highly coupled socially and technically.

Resumen
This chapter outlines a devoted framework that can store forensic digital data patterns permanently. The issues, challenges, conceptual multilayer framework for developing forensic pattern warehouse for betterment of forensic prediction and forecasting has been discussed. A sequence of phases is involved during the design processes of forensic pattern warehouse, and initially, conceptual modeling is one of the significant and the initial phase of forensic pattern warehouse design, because it constructs the solid framework for the next level of phases. In view of high semantic nature, there is a need to take a different approach for forensic pattern warehouse design to accommodate flexibility, isolation, extensibility, and robustness. In this way, the context-oriented forensic pattern warehouse design is one of the possible ways to manage patterns in a better way. The context of underlying pattern also helps to guide the queries to give a more satisfactory result.

Resumen
Academic libraries are looking for ways to grow their involvement in and scale-up their support for research activities. The successful transition depends to a large extent on the library's ability to systematically manage data, break down information silos and unify workflows across the library, research office and researchers. Data repositories are at the heart of this challenge, yet often institutional repositories are not built to address the needs of modern research data management due to inability to store all research assets, lack of consistent data models, and insufficient workflows. This chapter will present a new approach to research data management that ensures visibility of research output and data, data coherency, and compliance with open access standards. The authors will discuss a ‘Next-Generation Research Repository' that spans multiple data management activities, including automated data capture, metadata enrichment, dissemination, compliance-related workflows, automated publication to scholarly profiles, as well as open integration with the research ecosystem.

Resumen
Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are spreading as a common mean for mitigating installation and management cost in environment monitoring applications. The increasing complexity ad heterogeneity of such WSN and the differentiated users needs calls for innovative solutions for managing and accessing produced data. This paper presents an architecture, named iCAAS, designed to collect, store, manage and make available to users data received from heterogeneous WSNs. The objective of the architecture is to adaptively deliver data to users depending on their specific interests and transparently to adopted terminals and of networks details. The contribution of the paper is twofold. First the authors detail the requirements that these types of architectures should meet to fill the gap between sensors, details, and users needs. Second, the authors describe the structural organization of the proposed architecture, designed by taking into account the defined requirements. Implementation details and case studies are also provided, showing the effectiveness of the architecture when used in real world application scenarios. Finally, iCAAS architecture’s scalability is tested against the number of concurrent client querying the same time.

Resumen
In the knowledge-based economy, the survival and growth of the engineering industries depends upon the knowledge management (KM). In the present environment, KS is the corner stone of the KM. Some variables hinder KS in the industries are known as knowledge sharing barriers (KSBs). The objective of this paper is to identify and recognize the critical KSBs and their mutual influences in the industries. The interpretive structural modeling (ISM) methodology has been used to develop hierarchy of the identified KSBs evolving their mutual relationships. Identified KSBs at the root of the hierarchy (called driving KSBs) and at the top of the hierarchy (called dependent KSBs). It is observed that two KSBs namely “lack of top management commitment” and “KM is not well understood” have highest driving power. Therefore, these KSBs require serious attention by the managers in the engineering industries. The study concludes with discussion and managerial implications.

Resumen
Abstract ZX is a development well located in offshore Madura, Indonesia. ZX is classified as an Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) well with 2.40 ERD ratio. ZX well is in KX field which known to have several drilling hazards. The formation has multiple lost circulation zones below the 9 5/8" casing shoe that is prone to total and partial losses due to combination depleted formation in the upper side and the nature of karst or fractured carbonate formation in middle and lower part of the interval. In addition, the bottom part of the hole section has problematic wellbore instability. These hazards lead to the necessity to closely monitor and control the pressure profile throughout the operation to find balance between loss circulation and wellbore stability to ensure an efficient and safe operation. An automated MPD system is used to precisely control bottom hole pressure. MPD system was used to drill 8-1/2" section of ZX well smoothly to target depth and geological objective was achieved without NPT. MPC was performed successfully for 7" liner cementing. This was the first MPC operation in offshore Madura and the application mitigated the loss circulation and avoided the unnecessary remedial cementing job. The paper will share the success story of MPD application in drilling narrow window ERD well in offshore Madura, Indonesia. It aims to describe the application of MPD for this specific ERD case from planning phase to execution phase as well as the lesson learned.

Resumen
<p>NHNY Via Verde is a global model of sustainable housing development. Located in a Bronx brownfield, the 294,000 SF structure contains 222 residential units with 40,000 SF of green roofs and open space. Cascading buildings surrounding a central courtyard consists of a 21 story tower, 16- to 7-story midrise and 5 to 3-story low-rise. Interconnected, accessible green roofs provide continuous access from the courtyard to 12<span>th</span> level roof: the “via verde” or “green way”. Primary structure consists of cast-in-place concrete at the tower and concrete masonry bearing walls with precast concrete plank at mid- and low-rises. These conventional materials are arranged in unconventional ways to maximize efficiency, generating the architectural unit layout from optimal plank spans and eliminating façade bearing walls for prefabricated façades with sunshades and balconies. Secondary structural steel framing supports low rise storefronts, extensive roof PV panel arrays and a rainwater catchment system. Fly ash replacement was maximized in all concrete, and the time effect on strength gain was managed in construction. The large building volume required internal building separations with three independent structures engineered for drift compatibility. Foundation pile capacities vary to optimize efficiency to wide-ranging building heights.</p>

Resumen
This large scale radioactive and chemical land remediation project is a recent example of UKAEA delivering safe and cost effective restoration of a nuclear legacy. The SSA was a 7-hectare part of the non-nuclear licensed area at Harwell, Oxfordshire. The Harwell site is steadily being redeveloped as a business centre. Restoration of the SSA was linked to an opportunity to develop adjacent land for new residential housing. The SSA shared a boundary with Chilton County Primary School and the remediation project had high stakeholder interest. The RAF used the SSA as an ammunition store until 1945. UKAEA used the site from 1946 for radioactive waste handling and for the burial of chemical, radioactive and beryllium contaminated wastes. Planning, characterisation and decommissioning has been ongoing since the late 1980’s. Over the last two years a final clean-up operation has been completed. The project was managed by UKAEA and implemented through competitive contract by RWE Nukem and VHE Construction. The clean-up utilised stakeholder management and consultation methods to inform regulators and the local community. This included a formal public consultation concerning remedial options and the potential for environmental impact. The clean-up was designed against site specific risk based radionuclide and chemical clean-up targets. The project involved the survey, assay and clearance of 250,000 m3 of soils resulting in the segregation of 18,000 m3 of general, chemical and exempt radioactive wastes. The SSA landfill pits were excavated inside double ventilated containment tents in order to ensure that emissions from the works did not affect the nearby public. The project has successfully restored the site to a condition suitable for unrestricted public access.

Resumen
Abstract A new joint venture operator, established to take over an existing strategic producing field with ongoing drilling operations, took the opportunity to design a new collision avoidance standard, based on the latest WPTS (Wellbore Positioning Technical Section) probability method collision avoidance rules. This has been combined with an innovative execution approach to safely and successfully unlock slots on congested platforms and drill some of the most difficult well trajectories in this complex field from the very first well. Al Shaheen field, offshore Qatar, is one of the most challenging fields worldwide in terms of collision avoidance. When drilling extended-reach wells from the last-remaining and most challenging slots, with top-hole separation as low as three feet centre-to-centre at the conductor pipe shoe, close collaboration with all parties is required to manage collision risk, minimise production loss, and ensure all well objectives are achieved. The execution strategy includes simple jetting and rotating BHA designs for 3D-profile trajectories, remote real-time monitoring including 24/7 survey QA/QC and validation, and mitigation through a decision-making matrix customised for the specific drilling challenges. The platform configuration and challenges in the drilling environment are discussed, together with the theory of the selected collision avoidance rule and the resulting risk matrix. A brief review of why jetting is selected as the only allowable drilling technique in major risk situations plus the story of the evolution of Al Shaheen jetting BHAs follows. Finally, three case studies of top-hole operations describe the practical application of the techniques discussed. The selected case studies describe the jetting operation from the deepest CP (Conductor pipe), the deepest well jetted, and the first 23-in jetting operation carried out by the operator. The combination of risk analysis through genuine probabilistic considerations, jetting operations, and appropriate oversight has been used successfully for more than two years and has allowed over twenty of the remaining, most challenging, slots to be saved, ensuring the assets are optimised in the ongoing economically-constrained environment. The WPTS have now published their proposed industry-standard probability-based collision-avoidance rule. These case-history examples of a similar rule from extreme close-approach drilling will assist other operators considering uptake of the new guidelines, as will the risk matrix developed by the operator. In addition, the jetting technique used as a major mitigation factor is seldom used today in the industry and the lessons learned in jetting BHA design have already benefited another operator in the region.
