In the context of a large first-year business course, we explore the value of student contributors, the former students from this course, working with faculty to improve the learning experience of the students enrolled in the course. By describing our study of the roles, impacts, benefits, and challenges of the student contributors’ involvement in creating supplemental resources, such as videos and practice problems, intended to augment the teaching process of the faculty and the learning process of the student learners, we contribute to the understanding of this three-party experience. ABSTRACT This article discusses how accounting instructors can adopt whiteboard voice-over (WBVO) video technology as a supplemental resource in traditional classroom designs or as an integral resource in a flipped or online classroom design. WBVO technology can facilitate a blended learning classroom design by allowing instructors and/or students to create short videos that can be posted in a learning management system or public domain. The benefits of utilizing WBVO technology are analyzed through the lens of variation theory, and include (1) providing students with additional instructional

This study provides insights into the role of political social media influencers (PSMI) as relatively new actors in political communication. It examines their content and motives in the context of elections. Considering the German federal election in 2021, it uses content analysis of 20 PSMI offers with 301 pieces of content and a supplemental online survey to explore how PSMI communicated on various platforms/formats (Instagram posts/videos, podcast episodes, TikTok, YouTube) in the 2 months before the election. The findings show that the PSMI in this sample, who were all nominated for an awa

Abstract. During the occurrence of floods, the government generally tries to determine the extent of the continuously changing inundation (water) area as a disaster response for planning evacuations and designing drainage systems. One of the most common methods to identify this area during the daytime involves the interpretation of aerial optical images and videos that are obtained using an airplane, helicopter, or satellite. However, these aerial approach methods have not been established convincingly for their use during the night time. Therefore, to identify the water area at night, two han

The Constituent Rectangles Supplemental Enhancement Information (SEI) message is under development by the Joint Video Experts Team (JVET) for coding videos formed from compositing multiple videos as constituent rectangles. Many applications require multiple synchronized videos for multiview content or different types of content, such as alpha channels, depth maps, object masks, or image features. Use cases for the SEI message include VR/AR, 3D, free-viewpoint video, game streaming, and cloud gaming. For students with or at-risk for a learning disability in mathematics, challenges learning critical skills often result in them falling behind their grade-level peers. One strategy that can provide targeted instruction on key concepts is video modeling. Teacher-made videos serve as a valuable resource for struggling students to access supplementary teaching beyond the classroom. Medical students routinely view anatomy video resources found through Internet searches that are not tailored to their schools’ specific curriculum. These videos are long in duration as they include sequential dissection steps before the end product is revealed. As an alternative, a series of Downstate student driven videos were created to be concise with no video exceeding 110 seconds in duration. These videos skip the process of sequential dissection and instead offer the end result of each dissection activity. Videos are matched to each anatomy lab activity with narration and onscreen text
